Interview with Martin Stein, CFO of Altech Batteries Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/altech-batteries-asxatc-powers-up-to-seize-the-future-of-the-grid-storage-revolution-5430Recording date: 27th August 2024Altech Batteries Limited (ASX:ATC) is positioning itself as a key player in the rapidly evolving battery technology sector, targeting two critical areas of the sustainable energy transition: grid-scale energy storage and enhanced electric vehicle (EV) batteries. With innovative approaches to both segments, Altech presents an intriguing opportunity for investors looking to capitalize on the global shift towards renewable energy and electrification. The company's flagship CERENERGY project focuses on sodium-chloride solid-state batteries for grid energy storage. This technology offers several advantages over traditional lithium-ion batteries, including longer lifespan, lower maintenance requirements, and improved sustainability due to its use of common table salt as a key component. The project's recently completed bankable feasibility study reveals promising economics, with projected annual free cash flow of €48 million and a net present value of €169 million at a 10% discount rate.Altech is actively engaging with German utility providers transitioning to renewable energy sources, positioning CERENERGY batteries as a solution for grid stabilization. The company has appointed KPMG to manage financing for the project and is exploring green bonds and government grants to fund the construction of a 120-megawatt-hour plant in Germany.Complementing its grid storage solution, Altech is also developing the Silumina Anodes project, which aims to enhance EV battery performance. This innovative technology involves coating silicon with high-purity aluminum to create a more efficient anode material for lithium-ion batteries, potentially increasing capacity by 30% compared to graphite-only anodes. A pilot plant in Germany capable of producing 120 kg per day of the Silumina Anodes material is currently being commissioned, with plans to provide commercial samples to major EV manufacturers and battery companies for testing. To fund the development of both projects, Altech is raising up to A$8.5 million through an entitlement offer, with A$5 million underwritten by a board member, demonstrating internal confidence in the company's prospects. While Altech's dual-project approach positions it to capitalize on two significant trends in energy technology, investors should be aware of the challenges and risks involved. These include the need for extensive technological validation, potential competition from established players and other startups, and the capital-intensive nature of battery technology development. The successful commercialization of either project could lead to significant revenue streams and establish Altech as a key contributor to the global sustainable energy ecosystem. The company's engagement with major industry players and its focus on addressing critical pain points in both grid storage and EV applications suggest a well-considered strategy aligned with market needs. For investors considering Altech, key factors to monitor include progress in customer testing and validation, particularly for the Silumina Anodes project, developments in the broader battery technology landscape, and the company's ongoing financing activities. As with any investment in emerging technologies, thorough due diligence and an understanding of the broader energy landscape are essential. As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change and the need for efficient energy storage solutions, Altech Batteries represents an opportunity to participate in potentially transformative developments in the battery sector, catering to both stationary storage and electric mobility markets.View Altech Batteries' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/altech-batteriesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Interview with Martin Stein, CFO of Altech Batteries Ltd.Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/altech-batteries-asxatc-2-feasibility-studies-due-q4-batteries-and-anodes-4125Recording date: 22nd May 2024Altech Batteries (ASX:ATC) is an emerging player in the rapidly growing grid storage industry, offering investors an attractive opportunity to gain exposure to the global transition to renewable energy. The company is commercializing an innovative sodium-ion battery technology that provides compelling advantages in safety, sustainability, and cost compared to incumbent lithium-ion solutions.Altech's batteries utilize abundant, non-flammable materials like sodium chloride (salt), avoiding the supply constraints and price volatility associated with scarce metals such as lithium, cobalt and graphite. The company's proprietary solid-state design enables fire- and explosion-proof operation across a wide temperature range, with expected lifespans exceeding 15 years. These attributes make Altech's batteries ideally suited for grid storage applications. The market for grid-scale batteries is expanding at a rapid 28% compound annual growth rate, as intermittent renewable energy sources like wind and solar require storage capacity to align supply with demand. Altech is initially targeting utility providers in Germany that are at the forefront of the energy transition. The company aims to secure offtake agreements for 100% of production from its 120 MWh solid state sodium chloride battery production facility to produce 1MWh GridPacks for the European grid energy market, laying the groundwork to scale up to multi-gigawatt-hour capacity. To fund the approximately €170-180 million required to construct this initial facility, Altech intends to pursue a mix of equity, green bonds, and government grants/subsidies. The company has already raised A$3.7 million from its existing shareholders to advance its commercialization plans, and is making steady progress towards a final investment decision. Construction is slated to begin in 2025, with first battery shipments expected in 2027.While Altech is laser-focused on the utility-scale opportunity in Europe, management sees substantial potential to deploy its batteries across diverse applications and geographies longer-term. The company envisions replicating its modular production facilities in other markets like the U.S., and notes that wherever renewable energy is generated, batteries will be needed to store it. Altech has already received inbound interest from sectors ranging from agriculture to real estate.Investors should weigh several key risks, including Altech's ability to secure binding offtake agreements and assemble the full financing package for its initial plant. Bringing new battery chemistries from concept to commercial scale is also a complex undertaking. However, management has substantially de-risked the technology and is making tangible progress on the critical milestones to reach first production.By scaling up its novel sodium-ion battery production capacity ahead of the competition, Altech can drive down costs and entrench a strong market position as the inevitable shift to renewables-plus-storage accelerates. With an addressable market projected to reach well over 100 GWh annually by 2030 in Europe alone, Altech's upside potential is compelling for investors with a long-term horizon.View Altech Batteries' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/altech-batteriesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Their stimulating discussions about the nature of people, the meaning of events, the history of religion and what God really wants from us are as entertaining as the story plot itself.

Synopsis   In a surprising cold open, young Martin Stein stands in line to buy a Beebo doll for his daughter Lily. Unfortunately, there is only one left and five year olds can’t wait until February! Young Martin channels his inner Oliver Queen and snags the last Beebo doll. As he is running from the crowd of “barbarians,” he instantly becomes this week’s anachronism when he is transported to Vinland and encounters real barbarians.   Leo, the Legends new resident therapist, has decided to hold grief counseling sessions with a Professor Stein puppet. Perhaps this was a bit in poor taste, and luckily for Jax, his session is interrupted by an anachronistic time quake. After Martin Stein showed up in Vinland with a Beebo doll, Leif Erikson conquered North America in 1000 AD.   The Legends head to 1000 AD on a recon mission and discover young Martin held captive. Jax frees him and they return to the Waverider to discover the anachronism has somehow gotten worse. While the team try to decide how to best retrieve the Beebo doll, Agent Sharpe decides to check-in and offer her condolences on the loss of Dr. Stein. It’s a Beebo Day miracle!   The Legends and Agent Sharpe do their best to blend in with the locals and find the Beebo doll. Mick finds it first, along with some booze, attracting the attention of Freydis. According to her, Beebo hungers for a blood sacrifice, so the plan is to burn Mick Rory alive. As everyone gathers around the pire, Leo prepares his cold gun and quenches the fire at the last minute. Nate and Amaya try to steal Beebo during the diversion and accidentally squeeze him. A battle ensues over Beebo and Rory ends it by burning the Beebo doll. Lightning strikes and Damien Darhk appears dressed as Odin. The Legends return to the temporal zone to form a plan just as Jax leaves to return Martin to his rightful place in time. Zari convinces Jax to look for a loophole, so he writes Martin a letter and instructs him not to open it until November 28, 2017. Unfortunately, Martin has seen Back to the Future.   With the Tim Bureau unwilling to help, the Legends come-up with a plan to stop Darhk and diffuse the anachronism. Just as Darhk is about to disappear, Sara tries to follow him and is transported directly to Mallus’ lair. Sharpe pulls her out to rejoin the team.   Jax learns Martin still dies in 2017 and travels back to 1992 to confront him. He explains to Jax (again) that he lived a life full of adventure and now Jax needs the chance to live his. After the two shake hands, he returns to the Waverider and breaks the news to Sara that he is returning to 2017. The Legends surprise him with a Christmas send-off and Sara returns him to Central City 2017.   She returns to the Waverider and finds John Constantine hiding in the shadows with an ominous message.   News   Legends Returns on February 12   Contact Information If you want to join in the discussion, you can submit feedback via email to tomorowslegends@gmail.com. A member of the League of Assassins, Onyx decides to give up taking lives to become a vigilante — she's typically an ally of Batman in the comics. The official synopsis of the episode reveals that Onyx will be played by Chastity Dotson (Pitch, Veronica Mars). Her character will lead a rogue black-ops team to break into Kord Industries. It's likely that she'll run into Oliver Queen and Team Arrow during her mission to retrieving a deadly item. http://www.cbr.com/arrow-season-6-onyx/   Arrow's Season 6 Sizzle Reel Teases Deathstroke'sEye Injury (Date: 10 Oct 2017)  A new sizzle reel for the sixth season of the CW's Arrow teases a major moment for the Wilson family. The video introduces Arrow fans to Liam Hall, who will play Joe Wilson, the son of Slade Wilson, otherwise known as the international assassin Deathstroke. It looks like Joe will be on the hunt for revenge, specifically against the man who took his father's eye – Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow himself. http://www.cbr.com/arrow-season-6-sizzle-reel-deathstroke-eye/   Arrow's EP On Prometheus' Victim, Arsenal's Return & Vigilante's True Identity (Date: 12 Oct 2017) CBR spoke with showrunner Wendy Mericle about what she and the rest of her crew have in store for Team Arrow in Season 6. While she wouldn't offer so much as a clue regarding which character met their final fate, Mericle was more than happy to discuss the possibility of seeing Black Siren achieve some level of redemption this season, and hoe excited she is for Roy Harper to return n to Star City. And, she promises, fans can expect a definite answer to a question that's been haunting Oliver and company when the show reveals Vigilante's secret identity once and for all. http://www.cbr.com/arrow-interview-wendy-mericle-vigilante-arsenal-deathstroke/   GENERAL DC TV NEWS Victor Garber to Leave DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Date: 11 Oct 2017) Garber – who plays Martin Stein, one half of Firestorm – will be exiting DC's Legends of Tomorrow during the current season. His departure has been rumored for some months now, and seemed imminent once it was revealed in September that he'd be returning to Broadway in Hello, Dolly! The report states that Garber's exit has been planned meticulously to give Stein a fitting send-off. It's also said he'll remain a series regular throughout the third season, which premiered last night, though he's not likely to return for episodes beyond those he's already filmed. This means Jaxwill need to find another half to remain as the hero Firestorm.  http://www.cbr.com/victor-garber-leaves-dcs-legends-of-tomorrow/   Matt Ryan to Reprise 'Constantine' Role for 2-Part 'Legends of Tomorrow' Arc (Date: 09 Oct 2017) Matt Ryan will reprise his role of demon hunter John Constantine for a two-episode arc on Legends of Tomorrow this season. He will appear in episodes nine and 10 of Legends of Tomorrow season three, which will take place chronologically after his appearance on Arrow and involve a confrontation with the Big Bad. According to executive producer Phil Klemmer, "We knew that an alienated, chain-smoking, bisexual, world-weary demonologist would feel right at home among our Legends."    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/matt-ryan-constantine-legends-tomorrow-2-part-arc-1047123    Constantine Lights Up With First Look At Animated Series(Date: 08 Oct 2017) John Constantine smokes a cigarette or two, and uses some mild profanity, in the action-filled first look at his upcoming animated series from CW Seed. Debuted at New York Comic Con, the preview shows Matt Ryan, star of NBC's live-action Constantine, return to his role as DC Comics' fan-favorite magician and con man. Constantine certainly appears to be in classic form, as in the sneak peek he's invited several demons to an unconsecrated church, under false pretenses, naturally, where they're to be feasted upon by something else.   http://www.cbr.com/constantine-animated-series-preview/    Legends of Tomorrow: The Dominators Return – With A Twist (Date: 13 Oct 2017) This Halloween, The CW's ragtag band of time-traveling outcasts will encounter a familiar extraterrestrial race when The Dominators return. According to the synopsis for episode four, aptly titled “Phone Home,” the Legends are still dealing with the ramifications of damaging the timeline last season. Now, with Ray's fate hanging in the balance, the team is forced to travel back in time where they discover that a young Dr. Palmer has an even younger Dominator in his possession, which naturally piques the interest of not only the U.S. Government, but the baby alien's protective mother.  http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-dominators-return-atom/   Legends of Tomorrow Sizzle Reel Unleashes Grodd(and Vampires) (Date: 09 Oct 2017)  A new sizzle reel for the upcoming third season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow has been released. The video kicks off right where the second season of Legends left off, with the team having returned to the present day only to find that the world has been overrun with dinosaurs. From there, the reel gets to teasing all the big moments set to debut in season three. The sizzle reel also teases some upcoming episode plots, like a trip to the circus and… Vietnam, where Gorilla Groddmakes an appearance. Then there's the vampires, which look to play a rather large role in the show's third season. The video's end teases the return of Damian Darhk (Neal McDonough).   http://www.cbr.com/dc-legends-of-tomorrow-sizzle-reel/    The Flash: Barry & Iris Undergo Therapy in Upbeat Season 4 Trailer (Date: 11 Oct 2017) The footage shows that working together on Team Flash will require Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West (Candice Patton) to attend couples therapy, though the scene is definitely more humorous than one might first expect. The trailer also shows Danny Trejo as Breacherand Neil Sandilands as The Thinker/Clifford DeVoe.  http://www.cbr.com/the-flash-barry-iris-couples-counceling/    The Flash Showrunner Teases Barry Allen's Season 4 Rebirth (Date: 10 Oct 2017) Showrunner Todd Helbing spoke with CBR about what, exactly, Barry's rebirth will entail. We also dug into Caitlin Snow's continuing identity crisis, the series' take on classic DC comics hero the Elongated Man, and the unique threat the Thinker brings to Central City. http://www.cbr.com/the-flash-showrunner-season-4-rebirth-barry-allen/    The Flash boss teases lighter season 4 (Date: 03 Oct 2017) EW's interview with executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. Discusses Barry and Iris's relationship, Barry's rebirth, The Thinker's motivations, Caitlin Snow's journey, plans for Wells, and Cisco and Gypsy.  http://ew.com/tv/2017/10/03/flash-season-4-premiere-spoilers/     FEEDBACK   The Starling Tribune‏ @StarlingTribune  Oct 12 - The whole hour could've been @JulianaHarkavy & @MzKatieCassidy fighting & I would be happy. Snart remains the absolute best part of the show while Hawkgirl and Jax continue to falter.  In the sack-up category this week, we have Ray Palmer and Martin Stein!  We would put Snart and Mick in that category, but they never have to sack-up. They're already there.  Rip Hunter continues to make confusing and terrible leadership decisions, but the show remains fun for the most part! There is of course some disagreement between us about how fun the show is... What do you think?

The team attempts to track Ronnie's whereabouts after he injures a scientist. Knowing that Dr. Martin Stein is in control of Ronnie's body, they use his wife to talk Stein/Ronnie into coming back to the lab for testing. Meanwhile, Joe enlists Cisco's help to identify who murdered Barry's mother. Cisco discovers an old mirror left in the former Allen home that captured images from the night of the murder, and Joe finds blood from two people behind some new wallpaper, one of whom was likely the killer. Joe asks Cisco to compare the blood to Dr. Wells', but Cisco refuses to believe Dr. Wells is involved. Dr. Wells discovers that Ronnie and Dr. Stein's atoms are in conflict, and if it continues they will become nuclear. Dr. Wells determines that the tachyon device recharging his speed could be converted to a quantum splicer to stabilize Ronnie's body and separate the two personalities. Dr. Snow uses the device; Ronnie's body still goes nuclear, but safely away from the city. The explosion alerts General Eiling, who orders a team to recover F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M. Cisco runs the blood samples and informs Joe that while neither is from Dr. Wells, one is from an adult Barry.
