Power can be rapidly stripped away from individuals, or it can be taken away layer by layer. Not everyone makes it out of a cult, but life can become particularly meaningful when they do. A new purpose can arise for the person, more substantial than the grasp of mind control. Leaving an authoritarian cult is the experience that Dr. Debbie Haski-Leventhal, PhD, shared with us on this episode of Cult Conversations: The Influence Continuum. She found this meaning after a period of healing and self-exploration when she left the Kabbalah Centre. Her parents brought her into it when she was only five years old. She devoted her life to it as a chevre (hand-picked servants of Philip and Karen Berg, its leaders). She was able to escape by age nineteen. Debbie currently describes her role as “a professor of purpose and impact”, working with individuals and companies to make lives more meaningful. She crafted her book after decades of exploring what pro-social and satisfying behaviors bring to life. Her book is both inspirational and practical, laying out pointers from the model she developed. She believes strongly in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and works with business leaders to better utilize their human resources into meaning on both an individual and group basis. I must say, I loved this book, listened to it as an audiobook, and then bought it as a paperback and read it. It is a must-read book, in my opinion, for all survivors of mind control cults. It is an inspiration! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

I have been studying this transformational spiritual technology and wisdom on and off for over ten years but only recently have dedicated many hours to learning more to help me feel more at peace and purposeful in my life. I use these shifts in my relationships and friendships, my business, my coaching clients and throughout daily my existence. To say it's been a life-changing shift is an understatement! And this week's guest is David Ghiyam, one of the teachers at the Kabbalah Centre and someone I have learnt a lot from. This is a breakdown, analysis and review of the concepts of the amazing book Becoming Like God By Michael Berg Berg argues that we inhabit a prison—a strange sort of prison, to be sure, because most inmates don't even realize we're behind bars. We're even conditioned to scoff at the notion that there might actually be another world, a world of joy and Light, shining right beyond the prison walls. Then, one day, someone hands us an escape plan that includes a layout of the prison and a step-by-step plan of escape. A flawless plan. What will we do? What this episode reveals is a blueprint to freedom. Of course, we don't literally live inside prison walls, and we're not literally confined to dingy concrete cells, but we are trapped by pain, suffering, and death. This is an escape plan from the greatest maximum security prison ever. 1. The world is the war of two opposite forces: light and darkness 2. The source of light, better known as God, is the wellspring of all joy, fulfillment and life. The force of darkness better know as Ego nature, is the source of all pain suffering and death. 3. We create our lives by whichever force we connect to. 4. We connect to the two forces through the law of similarity of form: we connect to and become what we become like. 5. We become like God by stystematically destroying the ego, because the desire to receive for the self alone is the opposite of God. He does not receive from anyone. 6. We become like God by transforming into beings of shaing because God is a force of infinite sharing The God Formula through a dual process of eradicating the ego and performing transformative service and sharing we awaken our true nature and become like God, creating a life of total joy and fulfillment. It is my true honor to bring Yonatan Langer @transforminghate on my IG live Often in life, we carry out past negativity like a brick-filled suitcase, or we see our childhood and conditioning as a cage from which we need to escape. In reality, every negative situation we have gone through in this lifetime is there to transform us from the inside and manifest more of our untethered, perfect, powerful souls in this world. As my spiritual teacher, Karen Berg, used to say, “light doesn't come from light. Light comes out of the darkness.”“Former neo-Nazi Yonatan Langer was born in the small German village of Erlabrunn, eventually assuming a leadership role in an East Berlin neo-Nazi group. Although he was a national karate champion and an educated professional in business administration, he realized he was unhappy. Sensing a deep need for change, Yonatan embarked on a journey searching for wisdom that would lead to becoming a Jew and making his home in Israel.A local introductory class in Kabbalah left Yonatan with a spark of light and a sense of connection, and he continued to take classes to enrich his spiritual awareness. Through his studies and volunteering with The Kabbalah Centre, Yonatan transformed, embracing a path of tolerance, human dignity, and respect for people from all walks of life. This was no easy journey, however, as it included the recognition of past negative beliefs and behaviors and the work required to question, challenge, and rethink everything Yonatan previously believed. Through the arduous process, Yonatan found his way toward self-realization, which he believes is a continuing journey.A student of Kabbalah for over eleven years and a convert to Judaism, Yonatan now shares his story with others in hopes of inspiring them to make positive changes in their lives. He believes in his core that we all have the power to overcome challenges and make a difference in the world.Join my newly launched Patreon community here:https://www.patreon.com/user?u=74935027Interested in learning more about Theta Healing? In a time when it seems like the only news is bad, it's important to get in touch with something bigger than ourselves, our egos, and our fears. Chaim Solomon is a leading teacher for The Kabbalah Centre. After finishing his education at the prestigious Yeshivat Kol Yehudah in New York, where he became an ordained rabbi, Chaim took up his discipleship under Rav Berg, focusing on three major kabbalistic texts as his area of specialty: The Zohar, The Writings of Rav Isaac Luria (The Ari), and The Ten Luminous Emanations.Part of Chaim's unique ability to relate this ancient wisdom to a modern audience is his time spent at UCLA pursuing Biology and Premed Studies, as well as ten years studying various metaphysical teachings such as Religious Science, Science of Mind, in which he became a licensed practitioner and minister, Theosophy, Keys of Enoch, Buddhism, Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita. All of this wisdom is brought to bear in Chaim's work with students, his specialty being health, relationships, reincarnation, dreams, and meditation. He leads sold-out seminars internationally and counsels students privately each week. He has taught in major cities around the world, including New York, Toronto, Mexico City, Los Angeles, London, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Lisbon, Chicago, and Miami. He now teaches and resides in Boca Raton with his wife and four children.
This week I'm talking to Yonatan Lutz Langer… Yonatan, born Lutz, was for a number of years a member of a Neo-Nazi movement in Berlin. This group would dispute or justify the Holocaust/WWII, idolise the likes of Adolf Hitler and ultimately plot to overthrow the German government. After a ten year period of transformation, he not only left his extremist, far-right ideologies and allegiances behind, but subsequently converted to Orthodox Judaism. Now Yonatan lives in Israel working for The Kabbalah Centre in Tel Aviv, which teaches the ancient discipline of Jewish mysticism. The Kabbalah Centre took off when Madonna changed her name to Esther and joined their ranks. Soon enough, Ashton Kutcher, Victoria Beckham and many other celebrities were wearing the Kabbalah Centre's signature red string bracelet. But, the centre's teachings were unconventional. They claimed that you could simply scan the words of the Zohar, even if you didn't understand the Aramaic text, and reap spiritual benefits. Journalist John Sweeney started an investigation and sent in an undercover agent to infiltrate the centre. What he found out was shocking. A Somethin' Else production. Quantum physics shows us that everything in our universe is made of energy, including ourselves. Every part of our body generates a unique frequency: every cell, every organ, skin, and hair follicles. Our thoughts are frequencies. When you come into contact with things that aren't good for you, it disrupts your energy. Things that can disrupt your energy include pathogens, toxins, bacteria, and even negative people and thoughts.Reiki also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. It is effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. The Mystical Qabalah by Dion Fortune was first published almost fifty years ago and it remains probably the finest basic exposition of the principles of the Qabalah. I wanted to go over some of the excerpts from this book to better understand it. The curious symbol-system known to us as the Tree of Life is an attempt to reduce to diagrammatic form every force and factor in the manifested universe and the soul of man; to correlate them one to another and reveal them spread out as on a map so that the relative positions of each unit can be seen and the relations between them traced. In brief, the Tree of Life is a compendium of science, psychology, philosophy and theology. The student of the Qabalah goes to work in exactly the opposite way to the student of natural science; the latter builds up synthetic concepts; the former analyses abstract concepts. It goes without saying, however, that before a concept can be analysed it must first be assembled. Someone must have thought out the principles that are resumed in the symbol which is the object of meditation of the Qabalist. Who then were the first Qabalists who built up the whole scheme? The Rabbis are unanimous upon this point, they were angels. In other words, it was beings of another order of creation than humanity who gave the Chosen People their Qabalah. To the modern mind this may seem as absurd a statement as the doctrine that babies are found under gooseberry bushes; but if we study the many mystical systems of comparative religion we find that all the illuminati are in agreement upon this point. All men and women who have had practical experience of the spiritual life tell us that they are taught by Divine beings. We shall be very foolish if we altogether disregard such a cloud of witnesses, especially those of us who never have had any personal experience of the higher states of consciousness. There are some psychologists who will tell us that the Angels of the Qabalists and the Gods and Manus of other systems are our own repressed complexes; there are others with less limited outlook who will tell us that these Divine beings are the latent capacities of our own higher selves. To the devotional mystic this is not a point of any great moment; he gets his results, and that is all he cares about; but the philosophical mystic, in other words the occultist, thinks the matter out and arrives at certain conclusions. These conclusions, however, can only be understood when we know what we mean by reality and have a clear line of demarcation between the subjective and the objective. Any one who is trained in philosophical method knows that this is asking a good deal. The Indian schools of metaphysics have most elaborate and intricate systems of philosophy which attempt to define these ideas and render them thinkable; and though generations of seers have given their lives to the task, the concepts still remain so abstract that it is only after a long course of discipline, called Yoga in the East, that the mind is able to apprehend them at all. The Qabalist goes to work in a different way. He does not attempt to make the mind rise up on the wings of metaphysics into the rarefied air of abstract reality; he formulates a concrete symbol that the eye can see, and lets it represent the abstract reality that no untrained human mind can grasp.

Do Americans have a blind spot when it comes to caring for people? Could we use COVID as an opportunity to bring about greater societal change? How in the world are families supposed to manage the decision-making for school-age kidsright now? About 15:00 COVID has put everyone's mental health through the ringer right now. Elura and Leah share their coping mechanisms with you. In This Episode You Will Learn About: Dealing with fear instead of letting it hold you back Challenging your belief systems Learning to love yourself Knowing when to leave your partner Having illusions of who you’ll be in a relationship Learning each others communication styles Growing your relationship to its ultimate potential Resources: Learn more: rethinklife.today Read: “Rethink Love” Read: “Fear Is Not An Option” Instagram: instagram.com/monicaberg74 Facebook: facebook.com/monicaberg74 Twitter: twitter.com/monicaberg74 Show Notes: The models that we’ve had in the past for loving ourselves, loving our family, and loving our lives have completely changed. In her latest book, “Rethink Love,” Monica Berg challenges everything we know about our belief systems around love and relationships. The more perspective that you can have, the more powerful you are in your life and the more connected you feel. Question Highlights: Are you using a lot of the tools you came up with in your first book? What if people feel like fear is a part of their personality? Why did you focus on love for your latest book? When do you know that it’s time to leave a relationship? How do you move from fear to possibility? Guest Bio: Monica Berg is a CHANGE JUNKIE and she wants to challenge the way you think about EVERYTHING. In her first book, FEAR IS NOT AN OPTION, she challenged readers to eradicate fear from their lives. In her latest book, RETHINK LOVE, she uses years of personal experience teaching and counseling to eradicate false belief systems around love and relationships. Monica is a mother, wife, sister, teacher, and friend, who integrates all that she is into her mission and as Chief Communications Officer of The Kabbalah Centre, she integrates her personal mission with this ancient wisdom. Monica was born and raised in Louisiana before moving to Los Angeles. At 17, she began studying Kabbalah and knew very quickly that this was her path, eventually leading her to the serendipitous meeting of Michael Berg, her now-husband of 21 years. During her teen years, Monica developed an eating disorder that grew into a five-year battle with anorexia and body dysmorphia. With her recovery came a better understanding of the disease and a passion to help others. However, it wasn’t until her second child was born that Monica had to reevaluate her own belief system. Her son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome shortly after his birth, which was life-changing for Monica and her family. The diagnosis led to Monica’s credo, “In change, there is great power,” and the choice to believe in the beauty and potential of who her son could become and subsequently who she could become. Monica aims to challenge people and encourages them to reframe what they think they know and she’s seen the results of rethinking first hand. Monica learns from her students as often as they from her. “I’m inspired by everyone that I come into contact with,” Monica says, “Everyone has something valuable to share and we can derive meaning from each encounter.” When she’s not writing, lecturing, or working with students at the centre, Monica contributes her time and voice to Habitat for Humanity and Something For Kelly. While she is passionate about helping all people feel empowered, she is especially committed to organizations that support women, particularly those with a mission focused on overcoming eating disorders. Monica currently resides in New York City with her husband Michael and their children David, Joshua, Miriam, and Abigail. Her second book, Rethink Love, will be out on February 11, 2020.

Intro: Minutes 0 to 3:15 I miss seeing friends but Chandra is getting out walking and talking to her neighbors from a safe distance. A county sheriff had to come euthanize a deer that was injured next to my driveway. My mom is doing better and Chandra’s mom is doing well but she’s lonely as her facility has stopped allowing visitors. Prince Charles and Rand Paul have coronavirus: Minutes 3:15 to 7:00 Prince Charles tested positive for coronavirus and then traveled to Scotland. He says he’s fine but he’s in a vulnerable group. Senator Rand Paul took a test and then went to the gym, an indoor swimming pool and lunch, exposing other people who then had to go into quarantine when his test came back positive. When we heard that Paul had coronavirus we learned that he had lost a lung during a 2017 incident in which his neighbor violently attacked him on his front lawn, requiring Rand to be hospitalized. Back when that happened, Rand’s neighbor insisted the fight was lawncare-related but other neighbors don’t think that was the case. We never learned what they were fighting over, which is how Chandra got the idea for this podcast. Gossip Mysteries: Did Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have a legal marriage? Minutes 7:00 to 12:00 Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux had a backyard wedding in August, 2015, with details given to the celebrity press. They often talked about their marriage and Justin referred to Jennifer as his wife. They announced their split in February, 2018. By that point they had been living on separate coasts for several months and Justin didn’t even visit Aniston on her birthday in early February. No marriage certificate or divorce filing or settlement was discovered by the celebrity press and, given Aniston’s net worth and the difficulty of dividing assets, this should have been big news. (We did not mention this but there was vague news about a prenup but that’s it.) I mention that Justin left his live-in girlfriend of 14 years, Heidi Bivens, for Aniston and that how you get them is how you lose them. Heidi’s mom gave an interview to Radar Online confirming that her daughter was blindsided by the split. Chandra wonders about the financial and business arrangement between Jennifer and Justin. Justin switched to CAA and got more exposure and roles including Girl on A Train and Leftovers. She thinks he must have gotten a settlement from Jennifer. Gossip Mysteries: Why did Charlize Theron and Sean Penn split? Minutes 12:00 to 15:45 Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were together from roughly late 2013 up until May, 2015. They went to the Cannes film festival together in May and a few weeks after that they were over. We heard that Charlize broke up with Sean by ghosting him, which she later denied. I mention the rumors that he was abusive to Madonna, which she claimed was not the case. A year after they split they had to go back to Cannes to promote the movie Charlize made which Penn directed, The Last Face. They avoided each other and looked like they couldn’t stand each other. Charlize did an interview with The Wall St. Journal around that time saying that people tend to sensationalize things and that she didn’t know what ghosting was. Gossip Mysteries: What happened on the plane between Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Maddox? Minutes 15:45 to 17:45 We have a good idea about what happened because Brad Pitt’s PR people kept leaking details to People Magazine about this incident. They insisted that he did not hit Maddox in the face but admitted that he “put his hands on him, because the confrontation was nose to nose.” People think Brad was getting in Angelina’s face and that Maddox got in between them and it escalated. Angelina has never confirmed any of this. Gossip Mysteries: Did Robert Wagner kill Natalie Wood? Minutes 17:45 to 20:45 Natalie Wood’s semi-official biographer, Suzanne Finstad, wrote her first book about Natalie, Natasha, in 2002. She’s since gone over all the evidence in this case and has contacted potential witnesses, several of whom went on the record for her updated biography of Wood which came out earlier this month. Vanity Fair published a fascinating excerpt from the new book, building a case that Wagner killed Wood. She has two different witnesses, including a photographer and coroner’s intern, who went on the record with details of wounds on Wood’s body which are consistent with a violent fight and not with Wood trying to climb back onto the boat. Finstad revealed that Wagner had been abusing Wood for years. This case was reopened by LA County in 2011. Wagner is still alive at 90. Gossip Mysteries: Why did Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow break up as friends? Minutes 20:45 to 27:00 Madonna, Tracy Anderson and Gwyneth Paltrow had a falling out in 2010 after Madonna dumped Tracy as her trainer. Gwyneth and Tracy opened gyms together and are still thick as thieves. We never found out how or why Madonna and Gwyneth fell out only that they are no longer friends and don’t talk about each other anymore. Tracy has a bad reputation and has been sued over six times after leaving clients and creditors of her gym in Indiana high and dry when she moved to work full time as a celebrity trainer. As background, Madonna started the charity Raising Malawi to help grease the wheels so she could adopt children from Malawi, which required residency prior to adoption. Madonna founded a school program in Malawi, which taught Kabbalah practices to children. (There were ongoing questions over how closely financially tied Raising Malawi was tied to the Kabbalah Centre, which was under investigation for tax evasion in 2011.) What’s more is that millions of dollars collected at a celebrity fundraiser for Raising Malawi in early 2008 were not accounted for over a year later. In September, 2009, we heard that Tracy was dating the head of Madonna’s charity, a man named Philippe van den Bossche, who had resigned his position to live with her. Then in October we heard that Madonna had dumped Tracy as her trainer. Right around that time Tracy was sued yet again by another creditor she had scammed, a man who claims he invested $1 million in Tracy’s business and made her custom exercise equipment. Chandra thinks Madonna dumped Tracy because Tracy was trying to hitch her star to Gwyneth. Also, Madonna may have realized how sketchy Tracy was while Gwyneth appreciates other people who scam people out of their money. Interestingly enough, Gwyneth founded Goop in September, 2008, around the time she met Tracy. Here’s a link to the story I wrote about the Hard Candy gyms that Madonna closed after members had prepaid for services. User Feedback: Minutes 27:00 to 28:00 Thanks to Anita for your nice text message about last week’s podcast. I also thank Shannon, Kristin, April, Brittany, Alnaaze and Clare for talking to me on Zoom. It’s crazy to talk to people who know as much if not more about celebrity gossip as me! "You appreciate less and less and you feel that they owe you more and more. If they're your partner, your husband, your wife then they should do this. You stop seeing them as their own person and you see them as somebody who needs to fulfill all your wants, desires, hopes, dreams, etc. The big danger here is when you lose appreciation through a lot of expectation you feel like the love is lost. but it's not lost, you just can't access it anymore." - Monica Berg I am thrilled to introduce you to Monica Berg. While she is passionate about helping all people feel empowered, she is especially committed to organizations that support women, particularly those with a mission focused on overcoming eating disorders. Monica currently resides in New York City with her husband Michael and their children David, Joshua, Miriam, and Abigail. She is currently putting the finishing touches on her second book, Rethink Love. https://rethinklife.today

Monica Berg is a Change Junkie. As the CCO of The Kabbalah Centre, her life mission is to help people improve their lives by giving them the wisdom to change their internal reality. In this episode, we talk about the fear that surrounds change and how to shift our perspective on it so that we can embrace, thrive, and enjoy it. Radically Vibrant Monica I think the reason we are averse to change is because when things change that we don’t want to change, it’s a bad change I still ask myself daily, “Does this make me happy?”—if I’m not fulfilled and inspired, then I give myself to seek something else I can change what I think at any given time and I’m not stuck in any limiting thought patterns Radically Inspired Clarity We tend to think that material things will make us happy, but at some point we wake up and still feel that lack of By creating ideals for ourselves, like “I am a marathon runner”, we put ourselves in box created by our ego If our internal is not ruled by external stimulus, we aren’t impatient with the universe and we feel supported and fulfilled Monica Answers… Do we have to change our entire lives when we’re not happy or can we just change one small thing? What’s your opinion of our fast-paced world and how we can keep integrating patience into our daily lives? What’s the biggest lesson that you’ve learned this far in your life? Radically Loved Quotes “You have to ask yourself, what is holding me back from making the change? “It’s important to give yourself emotional feedback each and everyday.” “If we don’t get stuck on any one thing, we can be so many things.” More About Our Guest Monica Berg is a speaker and the author of Fear Is Not An Option. In this episode, we dive deep into the big, scary existential questions: What is the meaning of life? Why do bad things happen to good people? Where do we go when we die? And most of all, why are we humans so full of fear so much of the time, and how can we finally free ourselves from it? Join us as we approach the human condition of fear-based living from the perspective of the ancient teachings of Kabbalah with Monica Berg, bestselling author and CCO of The Kabbalah Centre. When her second child was diagnosed with Down Syndrome shortly after his birth, Monica was forced to reevaluate her belief systems. The diagnosis led to Monica’s credo, “In change, there is great power,” and the choice to believe in the beauty and potential of who her son could become and subsequently who she could become, in the absence of fear. In this courageous and inspiring conversation, we cover some hard-to-tackle subjects like religious hypocrisy, shame, sin, parenthood, partnership, and the three types of fear (healthy, real, and illogical). We’ll even talk about the time Luke laid down in a freshly-dug grave to contemplate the temporal nature of his current bodily incarnation. Let’s do this. Topics Discussed In This Episode: Why bad things happen to good people How Monica’s son Joshua’s Down Syndrome diagnosis made Monica a better, more empathetic person How you can release unnecessary shame tied to the idea of “sin” How to joyfully connect with loved ones experiencing Alzheimer's The goal of life: to leave the world completely different than how you arrived What you have to gain – or lose – from the three types of fear The benefits of contemplating the temporary nature of your current human incarnation How to mute your fear of death by focusing on living your best, most compassionate life The big choice: either letting your ego lead or letting your soul lead How to shift your perspective and look for the gift in everything The relationship between the material world (the 1% reality) vs. the nonmaterial world (the 99% reality) The ultimate currency: the desire to receive for the sake of sharing How to claim your power to earn all of the joy and fulfillment you are seeking We are all either growing forward or growing backwards; it’s up to us The five Kabbalistic levels of the soul Our responsibility to reveal our best selves It’s not about what happens; it’s about what you do with what happens Religious hypocrisy The Zohar: a key to decode ancient Jewish and Christian texts How to utilize Kabbalistic astrology to become a better parent and partner What’s at the core of every fear Living on purpose The difference between fear and anxiety Monica’s seven steps to completely and utterly conquering your fear More about this episode. Uma das mais interessantes mânticas, as artes que buscam acessar planos extra-racionais, a Cabala, é o tema do segundo encontro da série “Artes Divinatórias”. Para falar sobre a mística de origem judaica, conversamos com Amir Michael Rehan, astrólogo cabalístico e professor no Kabbalah Centre.
Join me and David Ghiyam in a deeply spiritual episode that will dive into such topics as clairvoyance, reactivity, desire, mercy, and so much more. David is a senior lecturer at The Kabbalah Centre as well as the founder of MaryRuth Organics. He believes when you transform your nature for the better, your light of mercy becomes a vessel that receives the light of wisdom and invites blessings. David is full of powerful age-old wisdom that has changed my life, and that I hope and believe will change yours too. Find Out More About David Here: David Ghiyam at The Kabbalah Center David Ghiyam on Twitter David Ghiyam on Facebook David Ghiyam on Instagram David Ghiyam on LinkedIn In This Episode: [01:34] - Let’s talk about Kabbalah! David explores what the light is before clarifying the difference between the light of wisdom and the light of mercy. [04:11] - David clarifies that the only way that someone can reveal the light of mercy is to overcome their nature, not just to do good deeds. [07:44] - The light of the creator has all of the types of pleasures and fulfillments that we’re looking for within it, David explains. [10:17] - Stephan takes a moment to give a specific example to clarify what it means to give proactively without expectations. [11:57] - David differentiates the kind of prayers that are typical (like praying for health and financial abundance) from praying for things like certainty and desire. [14:58] - What does it mean that certainty is not of this real or dimension? [17:34] - We should be excited about finding a negative attribute ourselves because we can now fix the problem and expand our vessel. [18:24] - David talks about the various aspects of ego. He then digs deeper into pride specifically. [21:28] - As long as we follow the steps that Kabbalah outlines for us, we’ll know how to handle any challenge that we face. [25:15] - David talks about the Ana b’Koach prayer and the role it plays as a tool. [27:58] - We hear about the concept that truth before mercy creates chaos, which led Stephan to make a lot of changes. [31:25] - Stephan gives an example from his own life that illustrates the importance of coming at something with mercy instead of just truth. [33:34] - If you eat meat with consciousness, prayer, and gratitude for the animal, then that elevates the animal’s soul. David points out that just about everything that you do needs to have this kind of consciousness. [36:31] - David talks more about the Bible, the Zohar, and how they relate to everything he and Stephan have been discussing. [38:01] - We learn about the tree of life and the tree of knowledge. [40:05] - David stumbled on financial success early, and talks about how this experience propelled him to learn the system and wisdom of the Kabbalah. [41:42] - What one thing would David recommend a listener do as the next step? One option is to text “Kabbalah” to 797979. On the show today is Yehuda Ashkenazi. Yehuda is my Kabbalah teacher here in Los Angeles at the Kabbalah Centre, so I can vouch firsthand for his deep understanding of Kabbalistic principles and his ability to explain them clearly. Don’t worry if this Kabbalistic concept isn’t immediately clear, he will help to reveal and demystify some of the teachings and secrets of Kabbalah. We talk about transforming the negative into the positive, and how to align our outer physical world with our inner spiritual world. He has dramatically improved many lives, including mine, and I look forward to him changing yours as well! Find Out More About Yehuda Here: The Kabbalah Centre The Kabbalah Centre Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre Los Angeles on Facebook Yehuda Ashkenazi on Facebook @ashke72 on Twitter Yehuda Ashkenazi on YouTube In This Episode: [02:54] - Yehuda starts by explaining, in simple terms, what the 99% and the 1% mean in terms of the kabbalah. [05:10] - We learn more about the 99% and the 1% through an example that Yehuda provides about this podcast episode. Stephan then explains why the internal aspect is far more important than the external aspect. [07:07] - Yehuda shares a story about an experience with his own teacher that reveals the importance of intention. He then clarifies that we can’t live in a reality purely driven by intentions. [08:51] - Stephan brings up the kabbalah concept of the vessel. Yehuda then explores this concept, offering an analogy to explain what the vessel represents. [12:45] - Yehuda talks about the big-picture point of life from a kabbalistic standpoint, which, in simple terms, is achieving complete alignment with our purpose. [15:34] - Stephan talks about an exercise that Yehuda had him do in class that involved calling a loved one and asking them to offer one suggestion on how to improve oneself (and then seriously thinking and acting on the answer). [17:48] - We learn about the proactive formula and how to use it when we’re in a reactive state of mind. The first step, Yehuda explains, is to pause. [21:14] - Yehuda digs deeply into the second step of the proactive formula, which involves realizing that there is no external enemy, and the only enemy is your own reaction to the situation. [24:14] - Yehuda talks about “the opponent” as a kabbalistic concept, illustrating the game of life by talking about the game of tennis. [29:17] - Step number three is when we realize that the situation that seemed to be so challenging is actually coming from the light and is an opportunity for us to grow. [30:08] - Yehuda describes step four in the proactive formula. [32:08] - We hear a powerful story from Yehuda regarding a butcher who received a message from his father through a dream. [36:18] - Stephan brings us back to the example of giving a puzzle to a child. He and Yehuda then talk about the Bread of Shame and about the importance of putting in effort rather than simply receiving things. [39:44] - Yehuda explains the kabbalistic view of what occurs when someone receives lots of energy without having worked for it. [42:54] - Stephan talks about seeing money as simply energy, and the need for respecting that energy. Yehuda then compares money to breathing. [46:24] - Yehuda brings up an example to help listeners understand how energy works. [48:39] - Stephan explains why giving money to a homeless person isn’t tithing. Yehuda points out that this doesn’t mean it isn’t the right thing to do, but agrees that it’s different than tithing. They then discuss proactive versus reactive sharing. [52:17] - It’s easier for Stephan to donate time than money, but Yehuda explains that it’s the other way around for some people. [53:04] - Stephan shares one other idea about money that he learned from Yehuda, which is about respecting money. [56:53] - Yehuda shares some ways to get in touch with him and the Kabbalah Centre. In the early 2000s, celebrities ranging from Madonna to Lindsay Lohan could be seen wearing a simple red string around their wrists, a sign that they were studying the ancient Jewish mysticism known as Kabbalah through the (then) trendy Kabbalah Centre. On this week’s DirtCast, culture writer Emaile Marthe joins us to discuss why, a decade later, Kabbalah has been all but abandoned by its celebrity followers and how the Centre lost its foothold as the epicenter of Hollywood spirituality.
