We have an ongoing national lifeguard shortage. This is not good. This poses a significant risk to water safety in communities for the 3rd year. American Lifeguard Association (ALA) has launched a crucial initiative. and Wyatt Werneth their spokesperson, who's like the Jame Bond of Lifeguards, is making headlines highlighting a crucial reality: "Professional lifeguards, the dedicated guardians of our waterways, are deserving of both acknowledgment and compensation that mirror the critical nature of their work.” The ALA is calling on employers to enhance their Lifeguard incentive offerings, including bonuses, reimbursement of training expenses, and competitive wages. It's a strategic effort designed to not only draw a wider range of qualified lifeguard candidates but also to elevate the profession of lifeguarding to a highly esteemed and rewarding career choice. I've always wanted to be a lifeguard I wonder if it's too late? LOL I'm half kidding of course, because I'd feel self-conscious walking around in a bathing suit as my work outfit but hey all day but never underestimate the life saving power of a Grandma! They do think it's time to widen the net of appeal to lifeguarding which includes encouraging older people as well. Wyatt joined me on The Debbie Nigro Show to share what we all need to do to solve the lifeguard shortage for the safety of all. Wyatt is a great choice as the Official Spokesperson of the American Lifeguard Association. He's a highly skilled waterman with core training in rescue swimming and public safety diving, and he also holds several world records. He served as the head of the Cocoa Beach Fla. patrol and has over 20 years of experience in various military and contractor roles worldwide. His expertise extends to MAROP (Marine Operations) in marine environments, working with the USCG as an Officer in tactical/security and medical fields, and collaborating with the US and UK Special Operations Forces. He's also a really cool stuntman who's done outrageous stunts in a multitude of movies you've likely seen. But his World Record is one of the things he's most proud of. “I have a Guinness World Record. It is in paddle boarding, 345 miles, and I'll tell you a story about that. I was the lifeguard chief of an area that has 72 miles of ocean front, and at that time, we only had 13 lifeguard stations available for 210 beach accesses for 110 days out of the year. We ended up having a tremendous amount of drownings. And at that time, in 2007, we'd already had 10 drownings. So what I did, in fact, on the actual anniversary. 17 years ago, I did the paddleboard journey. And what it was, I considered it dragging a cross for the souls that we lost. You know, I pulled each of these people out of the water, I met their families, grieved with them. And the only way I could deal with it was I was like, well, you know what, I'm going to drag her across. So I put myself on a paddle board in the open ocean and I paddle boarded night and day for 10 days. And just to remember every soul, to bring awareness to the drownings, to these people's lives, to the lack of lifeguards, beach safety, it was during beach safety week. And yeah, I'm very proud of that. I think that, of all the things I've done, is a major accomplishment and a signature of what I do.” The Drown Zero Foundation. . Wyatt Werneth's passionate about the Drown Zero Foundation - making beaches safer one beach at a time. Drown Zero which started as a Cocoa Beach Rotary Club project has successfully implemented sixty-two (62) Drown Zero flotation device stations along Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. These “Throw – Don't Go!” stations provide beaches without lifeguards (unguarded or off duty) a means to assist a s distressed swimmer. As in throw the orange floatation ring into the water don't try and save someone yourself. Call 9-1-1 and keep your eyes on the swimmer until first responders arrive. These stations are available for adoption, which helps make the Drown Zero Project possible. The Drown Zero project has been made possible by the Surfing's Evolution and Preservation Foundation, Cocoa Beach Rotary Club in conjunction with the Cities of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral. 'Drown Zero International' now has the ability with support from the Surfing's Evolution and Preservation Foundations as well as donations to help bring this life saving project to your community. Please feel free to contact them for more information. drownzeroint@gmail.com 321-704-0151 Meanwhile back to the Lifeguard Shortage…It's time we take our Lifeguards seriously so enjoy this podcast of my live conversation with Wyatt Werneth on The Debbie Nigro Show.

Welcome to the Good Tidings Podcast with host, Larry Harper, Founder of the Good Tidings Foundation. This podcast is all about highlighting the good in people and what individuals are doing to make an impact in this world. On today's episode, Larry chats with his friend, Grammy award winning singer-songwriter and Official Spokesperson of the Good Tidings Foundation, Jason Mraz. The interview takes place in Jason's home studio located at his cleverly named property, The Mranch, where he explains what takes place on his 18 acres in Oceanside, CA. From there, Jason and Larry quickly dive into a recent benefit concert that Jason hosted highlighting eight children's charities in San Diego County. Each of these diverse organizations performed one of Jason's songs at the event entitled, “Kaleidoscope”, in front of thousands of guests. The conversation flows around the desire to help more under-represented and under-resourced youth. The Good Tidings Foundation and the Jason Mraz Foundation have partnered to create two amazing artistic spaces at the San Diego Young Artist Music Academy and A.R.T.S. in National City. In the coming year, GT and Jason will once again partner on an artistic makeover for another deserving charity.

He is passionate about educating individuals and organizations on the importance of cybersecurity and helping them develop effective defense strategies. Summary: Nick Espinosa is a cybersecurity expert and the founder of Security Fanatics. In this episode, he discusses the biggest threats to personal and business security in 2023, emphasizing the importance of educating individuals on cybersecurity. He also talks about the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in cybersecurity and the potential risks associated with AI in the future. Nick highlights the need for customized cybersecurity solutions and risk assessment for each organization. He also shares insights on the impact of AI on disinformation campaigns and the challenges of detecting AI-generated content. Key Takeaways: The human factor is the biggest threat to cybersecurity, as many individuals lack the necessary knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity risks. AI is becoming increasingly sophisticated and can be used by hackers to exploit vulnerabilities and launch cyber attacks. Education and training on cybersecurity should start at an early age to ensure individuals are aware of the risks and can make informed decisions. The future of AI in cybersecurity is uncertain, as AI algorithms can learn from other AI models, leading to a dilution of accuracy and reliability. Security theater, such as airport security measures, can create a false sense of security and may not effectively prevent threats. Quotes: "If there's a vulnerability, it will be exploited." - Nick Espinosa "We are so distrusting. We are so disoriented. And this is essentially where we're heading." - Nick Espinosa "Security theater... “I have really come to believe all the different arts is really what makes us human otherwise, we would just be a computer or machine.” Vincent James Most people often discover their purpose as they journey through the process of creative self-expression, which then brings them joy and a sense of self-fulfillment. Our guest today, Vincent James, got to experience this transformative moment thirty years into creating and exploring the art of music and has since never looked back. Vincent James has been circulating in the musical world for over 3 decades. He first began as a songwriter penning “Rock & Roll and Wrestling Connection” in the mid-80s that was made into a music video by PRISM Television starring Cyndi Lauper, Hulk Hogan, and Rowdy Roddy Piper. James later began managing local bands helping to book and promote hundreds of live shows. Eventually, James elected to go the artist route and released several recordings including two national singles. Highlights included the humorous “Y2K” song that landed a local FOX news spot, a Billboard review, and an appearance on the nationally syndicated Jenny Jones Show. A few years later, James's single “One More Night” aired on over 80 radio stations nationwide, landed a spot on the Friday Morning Quarterback radio chart, and launched his transition to Mr. Love Songs. Over the next decade, James wrote dozens of custom love songs for weddings, anniversaries, and other special occasions through his LoveSongs.com website. Change came knocking in 2014 when James realized he wasn't serving his true purpose. After listening to a teleseminar entitled “How Everyone Has a Book Inside Them”, James decided to publish a book along featuring inspirational music stories about how music changed people's lives. Co-authored with his wife Joann, “88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life”: https://amzn.to/359FN2B was first published in June 2015 and features stories and anecdotes from both regular and famous musicians. Story contributors include Rick Wakeman (YES), Vanessa Carlton, Simon Kirke (Bad Company/FREE), Bobby Kimball (Toto), Bill Champlin (Chicago), Rob Hyman & Eric Bazilian (The Hooters) along with hit songwriters Seidah Garrett (Michael Jackson), Billy Steinberg (Madonna) and Bobby Hart (The Monkees). The sequel to “88+ Ways Music” was published on New Years' Eve 2020 and is entitled “88 MORE Ways Music Can Change Your Life”: https://amzn.to/3goDePs . 80% of all “88 Ways Music” proceed from both books are donated to music education and service non-profits. While publishing and promoting “88+ Ways Music Can Change Your Life”, James began to discover his true passion for music education. Along with his wife, they formed the Keep Music Alive organization and launched the 1st Annual Teach Music Week in March 2015 and the first Annual Kids Music Day in October 2016. Keep Music Alive officially became a non-profit in October 2017 and now partners with over 1,000 music schools, music stores, and other organizations to offer free lessons to new students and special events that benefit and celebrate kids playing music. These events range from student performances, instrument petting zoos, drum & ukulele circles, instrument donation drives, and more. Over a dozen celebrities have signed on as Kids Music Day Ambassadors lending their name and image for the cause including Julie Andrews, Jack Black, Sarah McLachlan, Kenny Loggins, Michael Feinstein, Vanessa Williams, Pat Benatar, and more. Television and Broadway star Matthew Morrison signed on as the Official Spokesperson for the milestone 5th Annual Kids Music Day in October 2020, leading to Kids Music Day being featured on Entertainment Tonight, People TV, and Good Day New York. In today's episode, we will be discussing Vincent James's experiences as he explored his art in music and how he found his purpose and passion for advocating for children's music and storytelling. Listen in! Social media handles www.Facebook.com/KeepMusicAliveMission www.Instagram.com/KeepMusicAliveOrg www.Twitter.com/4KeepMusicAlive www.Facebook.com/88WaysMusic It is really funny, Michael, how this all started. I bounced around through several different areas, which I enjoy and I was pretty good at them. [5:46] But along the way, through those 30 years, I never really felt like I was truly doing my full purpose, what I was meant to do. [5:58] One day, I was drawn to listen to a teleseminar training about how everyone has a book inside them they need to write. [6:05] I never thought I would write a book because by day, I'm an engineer, and by night, and weekends, I do all this music stuff. [6:12] Because I'm going back and forth. I'm not really an expert on any, like a jack of all trades, right? Who's gonna buy a book, I'm not an expert. [6:20] While I'm on this call, it was like a bolt of lightning hit me what about a book of inspirational stories of how music impacted people's lives, I wouldn't have to write anything. [6:27] I would just gather stories, edit them, and then we would publish them and inspire others to play music and to share the gift of music because I know how important it is to me. [6:36] And then along the way, as we started doing research, this whole thing kind of morphed eventually into the ‘Keep Music Alive' nonprofit years later. [6:46] So as we dug into all the research and peeled the layers back on the onion it became just amazing to me. [6:58] My primary focus is advocating for music and music education because that's just really where my heart is. [7:36] When playing music you're building up not only your musical skills, but your social skills as you're connecting with your tribe. [9:35] When you're playing an instrument you are firing back and forth between the left logical and the right creative sides, much more than almost anything we do as humans. [9:50] The corpus callosum part of the brain gets bigger for the kids that have had musical education during their developmental years and this is how we get thinkers outside the box. [10:03] Add on the motor skills that you have to do for your finger position. [10:11] The brain is an amazing thing and we're only scratching the surface in our lifetime of what the brain is capable of. [11:56] If people intentionally explore different types of music along the way, they don't just become locked in but they have to learn new things to expand the brain. [13:56] We ran into a fellow who is 15 years old and from the west coast and he could play 107 unique instruments on a good level. [14:52 They credited his skills to when his mother was pregnant where they used to take the speaker and put it up to his mom's belly. [15:08] Commercial break. [16:18] March of 2016, I came up with the idea of having a week every year where musicians offer free lessons to somebody and I put up a couple of social media posts. [18:00] I started reaching out to schools and so that second year, we had 23 music schools and eight states that said ye. [18:19] We built our homegrown database and now have like 5000 and we started reaching schools and stores t to encourage them to participate and then we just grew it organically year after year. [18:45] After the second or third teach music week, we ran into a girl who was doing something called kids yoga day and I wondered if there was a kids music day. [18:58] We looked it up and there was no such thing and we decided to start doing it where the music schools and stores offer some sort of event or promotion that either benefits or celebrates kids playing music. [19:20] The idea is to raise a loud enough voice so we can get the media everywhere talking about it and get more kids involved in music in the arts. [19:33] We work with another national organization called hungry for music where we do local instrument donation and we donate some to a local non-profit school and repurpose others that are completely broken so that it's not going into the landfill. [21:16] Before we started all this, I didn't pay much attention, I was on my own just doing my own thing. [22:11] But then as I started to focus on what we're doing and the advocacy I started thinking about it. [22:18] I have come to believe all the different arts is really what makes us human otherwise, we would just be a computer or machine. [22:25] What would be the difference if we didn't have our culture and all the different varied beautiful cultures around the world? [22:35] I think that's really why we need music and art, to express ourselves for therapeutic reasons. [22:43] We are always looking for new stories for the music book series and we donate 80% of the proceeds. [23:48] For ‘Keep Music Alive,' we are continuing to build it up year by year and we will also do our musical instrument petting zoo events around the Philadelphia area, schools and libraries. [24:01] We also do special ones for children that are on the spectrum where it is just solely dedicated to them, and they come in with their families. [24:19] I would just encourage people that whatever passion or business case, you just need to be persistent and consistent with it. [27:58] I believe one of the reasons we have had so much success with what we're doing now is because we've been consistently doing it for seven years now building it out. 28:09] One of the things that I always like to share with people is that silence never means no. 15 June 2020 will go down in history as the day WHEN 20 Indian troops, including their commanding officer died in clashes with PLA soldiers at Galwan Valley.Although both countries have had several standoffs over the years, these were the first casualties at the LAC since 1975.One year since the fatal cases, there have been economic sanctions on Chinese companies in India and FDI from China, bans have been imposed on 59 Chinese made apps in India, some of them being really popular apps like Tik Tok and PUBG.There have also been 11 rounds of talks between the two sides which have been unsuccessful to bring about complete disengagement. There have been some among of disengagement at the Galwan sit and some in Pangong Tso area, but one thing became clear: the old neighbours consider the boundary question in fundamentally different ways. Even external affairs minister S Jaishankar stated earlier this month that “relations with China is at a crossroads.”Where does the India-China relationship stand a year after the Galwan valley clashes? Is it time for India to go back to the drawing board to rethink its policy on China. Just as farmers have been accusing the Centre of harassing them in a bid to shutdown their protest, the whole movement against the centre's controversial farm laws got a fresh impetus as it gained an overwhelming international attention. On 2 February, when Singer and actor Rihanna shared a report by CNN on the internet blockade imposed around Delhi, on her Twitter asking her 100 million strong followers “Why aren't we talking about this?! #FarmersProtest” — barely hours within posting the tweet, a huge amount of global support came pouring in from international icons, journalists, activists, advocacy groups and legislators too. Rihanna's tweet is perhaps not all that suprising since she has frequently spoke up about human rights issues such as Black Lives Matter and even the recent coup in Myanmar. But immediately after Rihanna's tweet, teen environmental activist Greta Thunberg also tweeted saying, "We stand in solidarity with the #FarmersProtest in India." British MP Claudia Webbe retweeted Rihanna's post and wrote: "Solidarity to the Indian Farmers. Thank you Rihanna. In an era where political leadership is lacking we are grateful for others stepping forward." US Vice President Kamala Harris's niece Meena Harris wrote, “It's no coincidence that the world's oldest democracy was attacked not even a month ago, and as we speak, the most populous democracy is under assault. This is related. We all should be outraged by India's internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters." Is this renewed international support going to be a significant turning point in the farmers' protest? As fresh India-China tensions flare up at the border, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi agreed that the current situation in Ladakh is not in the interest of either side. Jaishankar and his counterpart met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, in Moscow, at a luncheon meeting, hosted by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov with hopes of making a breakthrough in the frosty ties. This came on the heels of an unspoken no-firing status quo reportedly being violated at the LAC for the first time in 45 years. After the meeting, in a five-point joint media statement, the two ministers agreed that both countries should "quickly disengage, maintain proper distance and ease tensions" and abide by all the existing agreements and protocols on India-China boundary affairs. But does this joint statement indicate any major headway in the talks or are the Indo-China dialogues stuck at a stalemate? Although Russia which currently holds the presidency of RIC-SCO-BRICS has responded to the Indo-China tensions in very measured words so far, will it be able to play a role in diffusing tensions between the two? We’re excited to have Hayley Lewis, the beautiful sports anchor for the 41 Action News sports team, joining us as our guest for today’s podcast! Hayley has an incredible job, and she has an inspiring story to tell. In today’s show, she shares her story, talks about what she stands for, tells us what it’s like to do what she does for a living, and discusses what a privilege it was for her to grow up in a wonderful family, with dynamic and supportive parents. Making sacrifices to assist the children Hayley’s grandparents raised their children so that they could have far more than their parents ever had, and to be far more successful than their parents ever were. Their point was to sacrifice everything so that they could give it all to their children, and Hayley hopes to do the same one day for her children. About Hayley Hayley was born and raised in Kansas City. Her mother was a school counselor, her father was a head football coach, and her brother was in D1 football. Talking about sports was in her blood, and it came easily to her. While attending college in Nashville, Hayley competed for Miss America, and she got placed in the top ten out of 53 competitors. In 2014, she won the Miss Tennessee title. As Miss Tennessee, Hayley served as the governor’s Official Spokesperson for Character Education, so she traveled a lot, and spoke to thousands of school children about character and respect. She also played several spokesperson roles, and she had numerous TV appearances, which all contributed towards preparing her for her current career. In 2019, Hayley joined the 41 Action News sports team when she moved back to her hometown of Kansas City from Eugene, Oregon, where she was a sports reporter and anchor for ABC KEZI 9. What Hayley’s job is like for her Even though her job can be tiresome at times, it is also a lot of fun. And Hayley knows that many people are envious of the role she plays because she gets to talk directly to so many great sporting personalities. Doing something phenomenal What Hayley does is quite phenomenal because she gets to develop relationships and build chemistry with some great sportspeople. She gets the opportunity to speak to them about anything, learn about their families, their backgrounds, and stories, and find out how much more there is to them than being just players. A high-pressure job Hayley’s job is high-pressure because she is always on a time-crunch. And although she is running around, doing her best to get things done, and trying to look decent on TV, she says she would not trade it for the world! What high school was like Hayley had a lot of fun growing up, but having her dad as the head coach of the school meant that she never got a date in high school because nobody wanted to date the coach’s daughter! So she only started dating in college. A big reason for Hayley becoming a sports broadcaster People get into sports broadcasting for many different reasons. One of the big reasons Hayley got into it was because while she was growing up, sports had always been the main topic around their dinner table, and her family spoke about it all the time. All the ins and outs of the industry By following her dad’s career, watching him as a football player, and seeing her younger brother develop as a football player, Hayley got to know all the ins and outs of the sporting industry. A father-figure to his players Hayley’s parents had a special dynamic within the sporting industry, and her family would travel all over the country to watch her dad playing football. Her dad was all about being a father figure to his players because many of them did not have that kind of guidance and influence at home. Hayley’s dad was a devoted leader, and her mom cared a lot Hayley loved the way her father devoted himself to his players as well as to the game. Her mom used to go alongside him, try to work at the same high schools as he did, and do her best to help the kids and guide them. Amazing parents Hayley’s parents were both talented people. They had master’s degrees, and they were passionate about giving back, educating children, and creating opportunities for them. A rock for so many people Over the years, Hayley has put out a lot of information about her dad on social media. So, people keep on reaching out to her and explaining how much of an influence he was to them. A moving realization It was very moving for Hayley to realize that her dad was not only a rock for her family, but he was also for a dad for so many other kids. It's not often that we have Filey's favourite son on the show, and this week was no exception as Leo Blair (Tony Blairs' Dad) was unable to attend for some reason. So we had to settle for second best and allowed The Official Spokesperson for Videogames, Guy Cocker on as a Special Guest. Unfortunately we failed to kill Guy with kindness but did manage to maim him slightly with politeness. Guy also offered us dating advice while we told him about a further subject that he could specialise in at the BBC. We just like to offer support to those people starting in the business who obviously have lots to learn.Simon also offered us support by giving Ann and Ste advice on how to stream over the internet, whilst withdrawing support from certain people who send us letters every week and also getting rather annoyed at listeners who dob us in to indie developers. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. We also learnt how much Jon Snow knows about videogames.Doctor Avatar got some fan mail to go alongside the feature that he sent in, but it probably wasn't from the doyouinverts as the two factions had some 'beef' last week. It did result in a new song by the doyouinverts so it was worth it in the end. Sega Badawi reported on the latest videogame local news, but that's a given these days. We're also going to do a benefit for Resonance FM some time in April so keep an eye out on our Twitter feed for confirmation of dates and how you can get to attend.
