Update on our week: The Freeform Radio crew kicks off the new episode full of movies, games, sports, and tech talk. Noel starts things off with a blunt review of Aquaman 2, breaking down why the long-delayed DC sequel falls flat despite its massive budget, uneven CGI, and rushed finale. He then shifts gears to recommend Guy Ritchie's The Covenant, praising the intense, emotional military drama starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and shares his excitement after finally beating Horizon Forbidden West. Danny follows up with a look at Netflix's Elway documentary, highlighting the legendary quarterback's career, personal struggles, and lasting legacy. He also reviews the game RoboCop: Rogue City, calling it a polished AA-style shooter packed with nostalgic nods to the classic films. To wrap up his segment, he dives into the supernatural horror film The Sinners, applauding its atmosphere, music, and unique twin-performance by Michael B. Jordan. Andy brings the energy with a passionate recap of the Chicago Bears' dramatic playoff comeback win over the Green Bay Packers, calling it one of the most exciting moments in recent franchise history. The guys debate whether the Bears can keep their momentum going and what the win means for the future of the NFC North. The episode closes with Andy's “Article of the Week,” exploring a new PlayStation 5 jailbreak exploit tied to the rare Star Wars: Racer Revenge disc. The crew discusses the implications for retro gaming, emulation, hardware security, and whether jailbreaking consoles is worth the hassle in today's gaming landscape. From superhero disappointments and standout war films to Bears fever and next-gen hacking, this episode delivers a wide-ranging, opinionated, and entertaining start to the new year on Freeform Radio.   Article for the week: New PS5 and PS4 jailbreak exploits trigger a 1,000% surge in prices for an obscure remaster of the 24-year-old Star Wars Racer Revenge, with copies reaching $300   https://www.gamesradar.com/games/racing/new-ps5-and-ps4-jailbreak-exploits-trigger-a-1-000-percent-surge-in-prices-for-an-obscure-remaster-of-the-24-year-old-star-wars-racer-revenge-with-copies-reaching-usd300/ Warning: May have Strong Language and Content.   ========== Thank you to everyone who enjoys what we do.  If you like what we do, please spread the word of our show. A bit late in the month, but we've got a giant update blast ahead! Tons of game news here from Twilight Princess being decompiled, to plenty of homebrew ports of games to different consoles such as Marvel Rivals and Sonic Mania. Even oddities like Supra Mayro Kratt and OpenWRT running on the Xbox 360 of all things! PS2 DVD entrypoints continue to come in the form of YADE, plus some love for the original Xbox with XboxMemCard for RP2040/RP2350 devices and some helpful 3D printable tools for 1.6 RAM mods. The PS4 and PS5 also get a TON of coverage here, starting with the PS4's progress so far with the upcoming PlayStation Vue entrypoint being Vue After Free. The news of the PS5's ROM keys being found is also covered here, just not in the way I'm sure most people are expecting. We even cover the rise and fall of a previously hyped PS5 jailbreak! Plenty more in here, so tune in and enjoy.

Mark Omo and James Rowley spoke with us about safecracking, security, and the ethics of doing a bad job. Mark and James gave an excellent talk on the development of their safecracking tools at DEF CON 33: Cash, Drugs, and Guns: Why Your Safes Aren't Safe. It included a section of interaction involving the lock maker's lawyers bullying them and how the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has a Coders' Rights Project to support security research. As mentioned in the show, the US Cyber Trust Mark baseline has a very straightforward checklist; NISTIR 8259 is the overall standard, NISTIR 8259A is the technical checklist, NISTIR 8259B is the non-technical (process/maintenance) checklist. Roughly the process is NISTIR 8259 -> Plan/Guidance; NISTIR 8259A -> Build; NISTIR 8259B -> Support. We discussed ETSI EN 303 645 V3.1.3 (2024-09) Cyber Security for Consumer Internet of Things: Baseline Requirement and the EU's CRA: Cyber Resilience Act which requires manufacturers to implement security by design, have security by default, provide free security updates, and protect confidentiality. See more here: How to prepare for the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA): A guide for manufacturers. We didn't mention Ghidra in the show specifically, but it is a tool for reverse engineering software: given a binary image, what was the code? Some of the safecracking was helped by the lock maker using the same processor in the PS4 which has many people looking to crack it. See fail0verflow :: PS4 Aux Hax 1: Intro & Aeolia for an introduction.  Mark and James have presented multiple times at Hardwear.io, a series of conferences and webinars about security (not wearables). Some related highlights: 2024: Breaking Into Chips By Reading The Datasheet is about the exploit developed for the older lock version on the safes discussed in the show. USA 2025: Extracting Protected Flash With STM32-TraceRip is about STM32 exploits.

I liked a lot about Cyberpunk 2077--from the side missions to the combat to the visuals and plenty more-- but the character of Johnny Silverhand and the performance of Keanu Reeves was not one of them. This wouldn't have been a big problem if he wasn't such a crucial part of the main story, but he is and can't help but show up all of the time, so I couldn't help but only like Cyberpunk 2077 when I thought I was going to love it.
