This led to his development of the South Poll Grass Cattle breed. A leaked poll can feel like a flashlight in a dark room, but only if you know where it's pointed. We got our hands on a detailed, campaign-style survey of the New Mexico Democratic governor primary, and we go line by line on what it suggests about Deb Haaland versus Sam Bregman. The poll is built to test maximum-damage messaging, especially the Epstein private jet connection and the claim that Haaland avoids debating to dodge the topic. We talk favorability, name recognition, and why the “informed ballot” can tighten a race without actually creating a winning path.We also zoom out to the bigger forces shaping turnout and persuasion. If liberal and very liberal voters make up the core of the Democratic electorate, what does that mean for a candidate hoping independents and Republicans will cross over in an open primary? We lay out the ceiling on crossover voting, why low name ID is dangerous when attacks start flying, and what would have to change for the outcome to truly flip. Then we shift into the heavy news and real-world consequences beyond politics. We react to the Old Dominion University shooting that killed Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shaw, and we discuss radicalization, early release, and how major media framing can distort what the public understands. From there, we break down Iran, Carg Island, and the Strait of Hormuz, plus why oil geopolitics could raise gas prices while delivering a revenue windfall to New Mexico's oil and gas budget. We also touch Venezuela and Chevron's perspective, and we end with a painfully relatable story: DHS funding chaos spilling into TSA delays and a brutal spring break travel day. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth promised the most intense strikes yet on Iran as residential buildings in Tehran come under fire and Iranian forces target naval ships in the Gulf. A new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll finds a majority of Americans oppose the war and President Trump's approval rating on the economy has hit a record low, raising questions about what the conflict means heading into the midterm elections. And in Georgia, the special election to replace Marjorie Taylor Greene is heading to a runoff, with Trump's endorsed candidate falling short of an outright win as a Democrat closes in.Want more analysis of the most important news of the day, plus a little fun? The war with Iran is escalating, and the consequences may be hitting America in more ways than one. Gas prices are already rising as global oil markets react to the conflict, and economists warn that a prolonged war could drive inflation higher and put even more pressure on American households. Meanwhile, the political fallout is growing at home. Poll after poll shows that more Americans oppose the conflict than support it, with many feeling the administration has failed to clearly explain its goals. So what happens if the war drags on? Is the U.S. already losing the economic battle at home? And if the strategy isn't clear… could America actually lose this war? This episode is sponsored by FFRF. We discuss with Hrant Mikaelian the expanding war on Iran and what it could mean for the region. We took a close look at the latest IRI poll and its disputed methodology and findings, and the emerging shape of Armenia's parliamentary race. Hrant Mikaelian argued that Iran's leadership transition signals greater resolve rather than collapse, that Azerbaijan is still constrained from direct action against Iran unless the Iranian state seriously weakens, and that the IRI poll raises major methodological and interpretive questions. The discussion then turned to the opposition field in Armenia, where newer forces may have room to grow, but where media imbalance and weak opposition reach remain major structural obstacles.TopicsIran War UpdateIRI Poll ReviewPolitical LandscapeGuestHrant MikaelianHostsHovik ManucharyanAsbed BedrossianEpisode 521 | Recorded: March 8, 2026https://podcasts.groong.org/521Subscribe and follow us everywhere you are: linktr.ee/groong

A listener (Ben?) begs Andrew and Adam to retract their claws. TODAY'S QUESTION:Dear Ben and the other two, Every week, I have a great time catching up with this group of 3 guys who've been friends for a really long time. However, lately, I've become worried about their friendship dynamic. Because they've been friends for so long, they've become quite accustomed to giving each other a hard time and it used to feel like harmless fun. But lately, I've noticed that two of the friends (let's call them the old one and the pretentious one) have been teaming up to go after the other one (let's call him the cool one) about things like how great he is at Brazilian Jiu Jitsu or how sexy he looks in leather pants. They've even gone so far as to spread preposterous, malicious rumors about him, like that he's the "King of piss-play" or that he was a member of the American alternative rock band Dishwalla. Now to any impartial observer, it's easy to see that the old one and the pretentious one are lashing out at the cool one because they're jealous of his many incredible talents, but instead of putting in the work to try and get on his level, they just sit around and jerk off each other's little dinks all the time. So, I'm just wondering if I should speak up and call out the abhorrent behavior of the old one and the pretentious one in some way? Or should I stay out of it and let things run their course knowing that one day, the whole world will finally appreciate the greatness of the cool one and the other two will slowly wither away into obscurity and shuffle off this mortal coil with jealousy in their hearts and profound regrets in their souls? Anyway, first time writer, long time listener. Thanks for taking my question! -Stetson B. LINKS Vote for the winning advice! A majority of Americans oppose the United States' military action in Iran, according to a new NPR/PBS News/Marist poll. Mike reacts to the growing intensity of political rhetoric in America, highlighting outrage from critics of President Trump—particularly a viral rant from longtime Democrat strategist James Carville that he says reflects the deep emotional divide in the country. The conversation also touches on controversy over Trump wearing a baseball cap during a military ceremony, broader accusations of hypocrisy from political leaders and media figures, and a new poll showing Trump outperforming leading Democrats like Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom. Mike argues the reactions reveal how polarized the political climate has become as the 2026 election cycle approaches.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Prime Minister has fronted the media, with a full-throated defence of both the governments economic response to the Iran War and his leadership. He said the media went a bit bananas last week about his leadership following Friday's disastorous poll which had his National party languishing on 28 percent - but he insists he's not going anywhere. Deputy political editor Craig McCulloch spoke to Lisa Owen.

On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, WREC's Ben Ferguson fills in for Mark. A recent poll revealed strong public support for strict immigration enforcement despite media and Democratic opposition. 57% of Americans favor deporting all illegal immigrants, including 79% of Republicans, 54% of independents, and a notable 35% of Democrats. The poll underscores that Americans prioritize a secure border, law and order, and reducing the impacts of illegal immigration on jobs, housing costs, and public resources. This is as evidence that Democratic and media efforts to portray enforcement actions inhumane have failed. President Trump has a clear mandate for to continue border security and deportation policies. Also, American forces have now sunk or destroyed over 30 Iranian ships and over 200 targets have been struck in 72 hours. The U.S. is systematically dismantling Iran's ballistic missile production capabilities and has already destroyed much of their air defenses, while Iran's ballistic missile attacks have dropped 90% and drone attacks 83% since the operation began, leaving Iran in panic mode. Trump's military strike on Iran has delivered a significant economic blow to China by disrupting its critical oil supplies. Almost all of Iran's exported oil and more than half of Venezuela's went directly to China last year. Later, Trump announced that he is replacing Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem with Senator Markwayne Mullin, effective March 31st. Despite her accomplishments on the border, her controversies led to her being the first cabinet official removed. Afterward, Barack Obama urged Virginians to vote yes on a ballot measure to amend the state's constitution, allowing temporary redrawing of congressional districts ahead of the midterms. Obama frames this as a necessary response to Republican-led mid-decade redistricting in other states that allegedly gives them unfair advantages. This is hypocritical gerrymandering by Democrats, who are masters of the practice but now accuse Republicans of it, motivated by fear of Trump's popularity and aimed at preventing Republicans from holding the House. Handling of the economy has long been considered a strong suit for the Republican Party. A new poll suggests the economy might now be one of the party’s weaknesses heading into this year’s midterms. In Northeastern Pa., the case of a Luzerne County teen whose body was found behind a Wilkes-Barre garage last month is raising questions about steps taken to inform the public she was missing. Penn State Police are piloting the use of license-plate readers that collect data for law enforcement. Senator John Fetterman is the only Democrat who voted against a Senate resolution Wednesday to rein in President Donald Trump's actions in the war with Israel, against Iran. Representative Scott Perry is among five Republicans who joined Democrats in a House Oversight Committee vote Wednesday to subpoena Attorney General Pam Bondi. A massive $15 billion data center project planned for Cumberland County received a green light from Middlesex Township supervisors Wednesday night. York County's Board of Elections is suing the Dover Area School District over its refusal to allow its buildings to be used as polling places. Pressure's mounting on Christopher Luxon after a horror poll has his party slumping three points to its lowest level since the Judith Collins era. The Taxpayers' Union Curia poll released today has National on 28.4 percent, six points behind Labour. Support for the Greens, ACT, and Te Pati Māori have grown. Former National Party MP Simon O'Connor spoke to Lisa Owen.
The Prime Minister says he is not considering stepping down after a sobering poll result that has the National party dropping into the twenties. Senior national ministers defended Christopher Luxon as news of the Taxpayers Unions Curia poll landed today. Labour says it shows the Prime Minister is out of touch, but the Deputy Prime Minister says the coalition has a plan to fix the economy. Political reporter Lillian Hanly has more.
