Want to be a guest or know someone would be a great fit? I am looking for military vets, active duty, military brats, veteran service orgs or anyone in the fitness industryYour health is worth every penny – even when those pennies are in short supply. In today's economic climate, with recession talk swirling and financial pressures mounting, fitness often becomes the first casualty of budget cuts. But what if that's exactly the opposite of what we should do?This eye-opening exploration challenges the mindset that wellness is expendable during financial hardship. While gym memberships, training sessions, and healthy food options may seem like obvious expenses to eliminate when money gets tight, the true cost of neglecting your health far exceeds any temporary savings. Think about it: we meticulously maintain our vehicles with regular washes and services but often treat our bodies as if good health is guaranteed rather than earned through consistent care. The real financial comparison isn't between keeping or cutting your fitness budget today – it's between investing in prevention now versus paying for medical interventions later. As shared by many retirees who did everything right financially but neglected their health, spending your golden years paying for preventable health conditions is a steep price no one wants to pay. Instead of completely eliminating fitness from your life, consider creative alternatives: downgrade your gym membership, see your trainer less frequently, workout at home or outdoors, purchase smaller quantities of quality foods, and leverage free online resources. These adjustments allow you to maintain wellness momentum without breaking the bank.Ready to recession-proof your fitness? Listen now to discover practical strategies that will keep you healthy and strong without financial strain. Remember, your future self will thank you for the investments you make in your health today – and some of the most valuable ones don't cost a thing.Sign up for a FREE week of SSPilates classes: https://www.smallspacepilates.com/sspilatesSupport the show

The New Zealand Defence Force is making more cuts in a bid to help its nearly $130-million budget shortfall. Documents obtained by the NZ Herald under the Official Information Act show the NZDF is looking to scrap flu vaccines for all civilian staff, international travel for sports teams, some support to Gallipoli and staff gym memberships. The documents acknowledge the move could lead to “impact on morale and possible increased staff absence in the 2025 flu season”. Retired Lieutenant Colonel from Mission Homefront, Hayden Ricketts tells Tim Beveridge “this is just another series of symptoms from a defence force that is struggling to keep the aircraft flying, the ship sailing and the tanks driving”. Preselling fitness over the phone for a yet-to-be-opened facility is as challenging as it sounds. But here at Alloy Personal Training Franchise, we have perfected the art of preselling, often opening new franchises at or near full capacity.Adam Blankenship, Alloy's presale specialist, joins Rick in this episode to share the exact process, how we do it, and why it is so successful. The first thing you must do in a call is set the right expectations. One common pitfall people make in phone sales is immediately diving into providing information when a prospect gets on the line. The key here is to set the stage for the call right from the beginning. Begin by explaining the purpose of the call. For instance, you can say, "During this call, I will ask you some questions to understand your needs and answer any questions you have. Our goal is to determine if our services align with your goals." Doing this lets you gain the prospect's permission to guide the conversation and establish yourself as an expert. The aim is to prevent the conversation from becoming transactional, focusing solely on price and services. Instead, you're setting the tone for a value-based conversation, emphasizing the importance of understanding the prospect's specific needs.Tune in to this episode to hear our exact process to conduct phone sales!Key Takeaways- Meet Adam Blankenship (00:00)- The challenge of preselling through the phone (08:25)- Setting the right expectations for a call (10:58)- Find the "why" (16:42)- How to ask them to join (23:50)- Overcoming the 3 most common objections (25:12)Additional Resources:- Alloy Personal Training- Learn About The Alloy Franchise Opportunity---------You can find the podcast on Apple, Google, Spotify, Stitcher, or wherever you listen to podcasts. If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!

Austin is the Founder & CEO of FlexIt, a company that aims to provide flexible and empowering fitness experiences for consumers and businesses worldwide. He has a background in strategy, business development, finance, capital raising, and has previously worked as a Partner and Chief of Staff at Wheels Up. Together, they are dedicated to making fitness more flexible and accessible for people all over the world. This is a great episode for anyone looking to gain insights and strategy from a pair of entrepreneurial thinkers who are both experienced and successful in their field. Austin and Justin unpack how FlexIt's technology and infrastructure allows them to connect customers with the best trainers and fitness coaches from around the country creating a system of accountability and consistency for your workout routine. They explain how FlexIt was born out of the pandemic due to the need for remote trainers and workouts. However the evolution of FlexIt did not stop with remote training sessions, they are continuing to evolve into an ecosystem of customizable telehealth, weight loss consultation, nutrition coaches, and holistic health providers. As the world continues to become more interconnected through technology and digital circles, Austin and Justin believe that improving your health and fitness through FlexIt's platform will prove to be more convenient, more affordable, and more personal than conventional gym memberships and fitness classes. As the old paradigms of taxis, cable tv, and brick & mortar retail continue to give way for ride sharing, streaming and e-commerce, FlexIt is poised to be the next disrupter in the rapidly growing market of home fitness and health. So what are money leaks? Money leaks are small expenses that add up over time. This can include anything from buying take-out for lunch every day to paying for subscription services that you no longer use. What causes money leaks?Leaking spending results from poor financial planning and impulse purchases that you may not consider expensive at the time, but over time, these purchases add up quickly. What role does a lack of planning play when it comes to money leaks?Poor budgeting and financial planning make it easy to fall victim to leaking spending. If you aren't monitoring your spending and recurring expenses, you're likely to overlook many areas in which you could be saving money.Discover more about Paul's virtual Financial Fitness course at this link, perhaps it can make a difference along your financial journey: https://bit.ly/3dbperGPlan your budget in advance and cut out the unnecessary purchases that don't fit within your budget. Here is a list of money leaks for you to be aware of:Cable Subscriptions – use streaming services instead, however not too manyTake out food, delivery food orders, cook at home insteadPrescription drugs, instead of name brands, purchase generic drugs that cost a lot less.Phone Plans, in particular data, plans excess data usage, late payment fees, etc.Bank fees, minimum monthly fees, maintenance fees, ATM fees, overdraft fees, consider opening an account without feesSubscriptions – email fees for businesses, magazines, online books with Amazon, music, etc.Gym Memberships can be excessive unless you use it on a regular basis to improve your health, it's a good investment, of not to consider home equipment such as a stationary bike, it will help you save money in the long run.Meal Plans can be expensive. Comparison shop at a mall or online and you will likely be able to purchase designer clothing at drastically reduced retail prices.Designer coffee at $5 dollars or more a cup, adds up to $150 per month or $1,800 per year. The solution, purchase a jar of coffee at your local grocery store and or online and save a ton.Food waste – People throw away a pound of food per day, this represents a money leak of the highest order. This equates to $1,500 annually.Insurance is another area upon which people can save more money, thereby preventing money leaks.
