Over 95% of our interaction with people requires the highest possible communications skills. That's what you're there for. You're there to communicate and find out what they're scared of, what they need, what their wants are, what their likes are, how you can help them. But without being able to communicate, how do you connect with people? This is foundational to our occupation.”

Fluent Fiction - Hungarian: Bridging Souls: A Language Loop in Budapest Find the full episode transcript, vocabulary words, and more:fluentfiction.org/bridging-souls-a-language-loop-in-budapest Story Transcript:Hu: A magas Sas-hegyről pazar a kilátás. A Duna csillagaiban ott tükröződik Budapest szíve. Az ebédidő közeledtével a város lassan beleillan a napfénybe. Az emberek csendes zsongás, lábujjhegyen kelt életre.En: The view from the high Sas-hegy is magnificent. The heart of Budapest is reflected in the stars of the Danube. As lunchtime approaches, the city slowly blends into the sunlight. The quiet hum of people brings life to tiptoeing around.Hu: A budai oldalon, a varázslatos Várnegyed utcácskáiban, elrejtve a turisták elől, él Attila. Ő helyi. Erős, mély hangjának minden rezonanciája a Duna-part köveitől pattan vissza. Dacos, tüzes lelkében mag a magyar történelem kavargásáig ér.En: On the Buda side, in the charming streets of the Castle District, hidden from tourists, lives Attila. He is a local. Every resonance of his strong, deep voice bounces back from the stones of the Danube shore. Defiant, fiery soul where the tumult of Hungarian history meets.Hu: A másik oldalon, a vibráló Pest szívében, Eszter él. Harmincéves angol nő, aki épp két éve költözött Budapestre. Az ő akcentusa különös, édesen idegen a magyar fülnek. Mostanra már elég biztosan megy neki a magyar, de az akcentusa... az más történet.En: On the other side, in the vibrant heart of Pest, lives Eszter. A thirty-year-old English woman who moved to Budapest just two years ago. Her accent is peculiar, sweetly foreign to Hungarian ears. By now, she is confident enough in Hungarian, but her accent... that's a different story.Hu: Attilának van egy terv. Felhívja Esztert, hogy üljenek le egy kávéra a Szamos Gourmet Házban a Vörösmarty téren. Itt elmondja Eszternek, hogy segíteni akar neki tökéletesíteni a magyar nyelvét.En: Attila and Eszter meet on the Chain Bridge. Attila is sitting on one of the benches when Eszter literally runs into him. Eszter looks at him apologetically with a smile, but she can only say a few words in Hungarian. However, Attila begins to see something in her. A task, an opportunity, perhaps a friend.Hu: A következő néhány hétben felfedezik Budapestet, újra és újra. Attila viszi Esztert a Zsolnay-kúthoz a Ferenciek terén, bemutatja neki a Váci utca forgatagát, emléket idéz a hőskorban a Millenniumi Emlékműnél. Mindez alatt pedig lelkiismeretesen gyakorolnak. Eszter többször megbukik, de mindig újra kezdi. Távolságuk a bensőség irányába hajlik, mert a nyelv olyan, mint a lelkek hídja.En: Over the next few weeks, they explore Budapest together, again and again. Attila takes Eszter to the Zsolnay Fountain at Ferenciek Square, shows her the bustle of Váci Street, evokes memories of the heroic era at the Millennium Memorial. Meanwhile, they practice diligently. Eszter fails multiple times, but she always starts over. Their bond leans towards intimacy, for language is like a bridge between souls. En: One day, while they are at the Sandor Palace, and Attila briefly tells her the story of the Changing of the Guards there, Eszter unexpectedly utters her first word in perfect Hungarian accent: Wonderful. Attila is astonished, then looks at her with a wide grin, and rewards her with a prolonged, enthusiastic applause.Hu: A jég megtört, Eszter pedig büszkén néz az „önvédelmi oktanáru” céges palotájára szemből. Nem is tudja, miért, de a szíve egy kicsit gyorsabban ver.En: The ice is broken, and Eszter proudly gazes at the company palace of the Self-Defense Instructor from the front. She doesn't know why, but her heart beats a little faster.Hu: Aznap óta Eszter önbizalma nőtt, és szép lassan egyre jobban és jobban beszéli a magyar nyelvet. En: Since that day, Eszter's confidence has grown, and she gradually becomes more and more proficient in Hungarian. It will never be perfect, but she is not seeking perfection. What Budapest, Attila, and the Hungarian language have given her is a home, a friend, and the opportunity to be herself in a foreign land.Hu: A sztori végezetűl lepörgött a szemük előtt. A tanulásnak, a kudarcoknak, a sikereknek, a győzelemnek és a végzetszerű szép hajlító jövőjének története. A híd a jövőhöz, a jelenbe csomagolva. Ez pedig a legcsodálatosabb magyar nyelvforgatás, egy idegen akcentusban is.En: And so, the story ends unfolding before their eyes. The tale of learning, failures, successes, victories, and the fatefully beautiful bending future. The bridge to the future, wrapped in the present. This is the most wonderful Hungarian language twist, even in a foreign accent. Having an impact on people in every way possible is one of the most rewarding feelings as a practitioner. But for practice owners like you who wear so many hats in their business, how do you balance business and family life? And why is it so essential to clear your mind before starting your day? How important is journaling to business owners like you to help you focus? Do you want to be known as the average of the ordinary, or do you want to be known as the best version of yourself? Becky Webb is a NASM-SFC, NASM-CNC, NSCA-CPT, NCI Level 1 Nutrition Coach, NCI Hormone Specialist, NCI Gut Health Specialist, NCI Mindset Coach, Spartan SGX Coach, Level 2 CrossFit Coach, Barre Above Instructor, TRX Instructor and Women's Self Defense Instructor. Coach Becky originally wanted to create a stretch room with a desk for nutrition coaching. When she was introduced to the amazing benefits of compression recovery therapy and photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT), she knew she had to add those services to assist in improving overall well-being and muscle recovery. She personally believes that every single human can benefit from the services offered at Stretchify and has set out on a mission to help as many humans on this earth as possible to live their best life through optimizing their daily performance.  This week's Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Becky Webb will talk about how powerful it is to go back to your "Why's" in doing the things that you love and how to get past your fear of talking with people who are bigger than you to be able to continue to impact lives as much as possible through mindset and developing successful habits to be the best version of yourself.  They will touch on such topics as:Practice owners like you have reasons why you went into healthcare, but a lot of people forget about it several times, and when businesses start to go down, owners start to lose focus. It is important to know the reason why you started your business to align with the "why's" of your staff because you'll both clash if you don't align with the mission that you are on.Make sure, from the beginning, that trust and transparency are your core values. If someone violates that, the door is shut.Everything has an expiration date. Your loyalty and "why's" have an expiration date. It is important to drive back and think if you are changing for good or bad reasons. If your "why" is strong enough to be consistent, you will naturally develop that drive to do one more thing. The best referrals are your clients.Being humble acknowledges the fact that you do have your own strengths and talents and that there is only one of you on this earth. Life is not about comparing yourself to other people.Don't take criticism from people that you would never look up to.You can't let yourself be intimidated and don't compare yourself. Make sure to not have a room for such things in your life, because the second that you let that in, is the moment that you are going to fail.Every journey is going to have ups and downs, but balance and consistency are ultimately going to pay off when you are looking for any kind of goal.Equanimity is finding peace and balance in your journey every single day. It is celebrating small wins, but it is also acknowledging what went wrong.Be okay with learning experiences because you don't fail until you quit. Most people, when they set goals, tend to pull back and lose motivation. You can't start a goal and expect to finish it on a motivational loan. You have to exercise discipline, and that's where equanimity comes in, because it fuels motivation and success in chain reaction. Hack: There is only one of you. Everyone else is taken, so why not be the best version of yourself? That's going to lead you to success in any regard. Additional Resources:  Reach Out To Becky:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/becwebbkWebsite: https://www.stretchifyut.com/ Reach out to Me:Socials:Instagram: @thepodcast_docFacebook: www.facebook.com/nate.navas Affiliates:physiomemes.com (Discount code = Nate20)www.poddecks.com (Discount code = PODDOC)

And especially live running races back without the worry of cancellations. I hope each of you had a nice Thanksgiving holiday with whomever you could spend it with this year. Hello Runners, Well, it is now September, and the summer is just about over. Only four more months until 2021. Let's hope things turn around. I am looking forward to the cooler, crisper fall air. Great for running! This is a shorter episode. I’m in between trips. Just got back from Pittsburgh and am heading to Los Angeles for a week. While there, I will be running with the Skid Row Running Club (http://www.skidrowrunningclub.com/) and recording a podcast. So excited! There was another woman runner who was just out for a nice run, and a psychopath turned around after passing her then abducted, assaulted and killed her. Her name is Sydney Sutherland, a beautiful 25 year old woman. Ladies, the reality is when you run you must be aware of your surroundings and take the appropriate precautions to stay safe. Please listen to Episode #9 (https://feelgoodrunning.com/podcast-episodes/tasha-ina-church-professional-self-defense-instructor/). How do you learn faster by going slower? That may sound like a contradiction, but we’re going to be talking about this key component to learning in this episode. This topic is also important because, to truly learn something, you have it go through it step-by-step and be patient with yourself. We enjoy bringing knowledge from a lot of different aspects of life, and this is one of them. We have Tim Larkin joining us today to talk about this topic of going slow to learn fast. What makes him interesting is that he’s a self-protection advocate, a Self Defense Instructor of the Year, and the Black Belt Hall Of Fame. A former military intelligence officer, Tim was part of a group that redesigned how Special Operations personnel trained for close combat. Because of his background, Tim brings a unique perspective to this topic of focus and learning. ** Do you want to stay up to date with every new episode and get my brand new Kwik Brain Accelerator Program? Hello “Feel Good” Runners! How are you listeners?  Is your running going well?   The spring 2019 race season is here and all that winter training should be paying off. There are so many races this time of the year for you to choose from and of course next month is the Super Bowl of marathons, Boston.   If you are signed up for any spring race good luck! Now if you are new to running congratulations and welcome to our world. By now you should be finding out by how incredible running is and experiencing all the positive effects it has on your mind, body and soul! Well, I am in Denver, Colorado and it has been cold and snowy therefore I’ve not had a chance to do much running the past few weeks due to the weather. Such a contrast from Maui. However, I was able to run with my former running group, Runners Edge of the Rockies (https://www.runnersedgeoftherockies.com/) two times and caught up with some of my old running friends which I enjoyed. Plus I ran the St. Patrick’s Day, “Running of the Green” in downtown Denver. One of my favorites. With the massive Bomb Cyclone snow and windstorm that hit Denver, my flight was cancelled and I have been stuck here for a week. That is fine since I get to spend more time with family and my little Grandson who is 21 months old. He is a blast and looks to be a future runner! I’ll be heading to the Los Angeles Marathon Expo at the Maui Marathon booth to promote our event. The expo is on Friday March 22nd & Saturday March 23rd. Stop by and say hi if you happen to be doing the LA Marathon and are at the Convention Center to pick up your packet. Would love to meet you. And I will have my podcast equipment so if you or someone you know has a inspirational story that our listeners would like to hear, drop me a note at jim@feelgoodrunning.com (mailto:jim@feelgoodrunning.com) and I might do a quick on the spot interview. This episode, my guest is Tasha Ina Church (http://wwd.international/index.php/services) . Tasha is a professional Self-Defense Instructor and has 17 years of experience. With the spring and summer months upon us, most of us will be running outside. It’s unfortunate that female runners need to be aware of their surroundings when running alone. Tasha provides a wealth of safety and self-defense information, tips and techniques to increase your odds of survival if you should encounter an unexpected unpleasant situation. Actually, I feel this is the most important and beneficial conversation you will hear this year. Tasha even offers a on-line self defense course with a $20 discount for our listeners. This is one episode you will most definitely want to share with your friends. If our conversation prevents one attack or harm to a female runner, then it is all worth it! DON’T MISS THIS ONE! In the opening I talk about my trip to Denver and some fun items that I found in Colorado Running Magazine. You will get a kick out of it. And I have three news items that I think you will find inspirational and motivating.  Besides my conversation with Tasha, I end the episode with a motivational running quote. Feel Good Running Podcast is growing because of you and I thank you. Please keep sharing the podcast with your friends and on your social media platforms and (hint, hint) a nice review and rating on Apple Podcast will certainly attract new listeners to the podcast.  Thank you for all your support and listener ship! Finally, please be sure you get on the  Email list (inspirational-runner/running-peter-sagal/contact-feel-good-running/)  for our periodic newsletter!  And again, I appreciate each and every one of you that listen to my podcast!  Running is my passion and I enjoy bringing you this podcast to you and hope to continue for several years to come! And as always…remember to just show up and always, ALWAYS feel good about YOUR running! ~Jim   Jim’s Opening

The knife wielding thief shouted out a series of demands while backing the store clerk into a corner, standing in the only possible exit. As the thief closed in, the store clerk began to fight back. What ensued in the rest of the video showed a tragic murder, the store clerk getting stabbed multiple times, eventually collapsing into a pool of his own blood while the thief grabbed handfuls of cash out of the safe and fled off camera. I looked around at the faces of the other men in the class. Some watched in a state of shock, mouths agape. Others had clinched fists and gritted teeth. The video was part of a self defense training program we were in. It was a video of a real murder, caught on tape. My most dominate emotion, though, was frustration. As the instructor of the self defense class rewound the video and talked us through step-by-step of the murder, he showed us all the opportunities the clerk had to fight back. "You see how his entire attention is focused on the knife?" the instructor shared. "Now look at how exposed the thief's groin is." He paused the video. "The thief is literally straddling the clerk's knee! Had he simply known how to..." The instructor went on to point out how many chances the clerk had to save his own life. Tragic. Frustrating. And this, of course, is simply just one story out of thousands that occur every year. My guest this episode of the PK Experience podcast is the instructor I had at that course, Tim Larkin. Tim has been named the Self Defense Instructor of the Year and simultaneously inducted into the Black Belt Hall Of Fame. A former military intelligence officer, Larkin was part of a beta group that redesigned how Special Operations personnel trained for close combat. Over 10,000 clients are trained in his Target Focus Training (TFT) from Military Special Operations Units, Special Law Enforcement Teams, Celebrities and high profile business leaders on how to use physics and physiology to injure any human(s) trying to attack them. TFT is the original Reality Based Fighting System. He is a highly sought after speaker as well as the media’s “go to guy” on Self Defense and Victim’s rights. Tim's training has literally helped people save their own lives and the lives of others, as well. He teaches women how to defend themselves against larger, stronger perpetrators. He teaches men how to protect themselves and their loved ones. This is information I'll be sharing with my daughter and when he's ready, my son. I highly recommend you take a few moments to listen. It may very well save your life.

I first became aware of Marcus Charles through Facebook, although we'd never met we had so much in common, a love of Martial arts, JKD,CSW and Kali in particular, Boxing and Boxer dogs! Marcus is an JKD/Kali Weapons and Self-Defense Instructor. He has taught various Military, Law Enforcement, and civilian agencies. Marcus has been training and teaching since the age of 20. He fell in love with physical fitness at the age of 16 afer seeing and reading about Arnold Schwarzenegger. His love of bodybuilding changed to martial arts after reading an article in Muscle and Fitness magazine about Arnold's admiration of Bruce Lee. Living on the Southside of Chicago and being a security bouncer for many years, Marcus has had many encounters where he has had to defend himself. Marcus' goal for his students is to combine the athletic training of MMA with the Self-Defense drills of various arts to make his students grow to their full potential. This episode of Mick's Martial Arts is from me, Mick Tully and was produced by Luke Berry for Abrupt Audio. At the end is a clip of our brand new comedy show 'Get Happy'. Karma Senge is the president of Karma Investment Properties. Karma Investment Properties is an active opportunistic and value-added real estate investment firm that is an investor, developer and asset manager of multifamily investment properties. The firm’s investment philosophy is to identify and capitalize on emerging real estate trends in growing markets before they become noticed by the broader investment market. Karma Investment Properties uses a niche acquisition strategy that capitalizes on targeting a specific group of growing and underserved rental housing consumers and applies its lifestyle community approach to the investments. In this interview, Karma shares with us the secrets to his success and how you can apply those same principles to your real estate business. Karma proves that with the proper focus and a strong will to succeed that anything is possible. His only regret – he wishes he would have started investing in Multi-Family properties a long time ago. In this interview with Karma you’re going to learn:   §  How having a mentor and coach has been an integral part of his success in real estate §  How he successfully transitioned from single family investments into his first apartment acquisition §  Why he decided to focus his efforts on multifamily instead of the other commercial asset classes §  How he was able to go from knowing "little to nothing" about commercial real estate to owning 318 MF units in less than 1 year §  How he's able to continually achieve 10% and higher response rates on his direct mail campaigns §  Why he prefers off-market deals to working with listed properties and brokers §  Why if he could do it all over again he would have bypassed investing in SFR and started immediately in Multi-family   §  and much more

Please join me this Thursday as I welcome: JILLIAN BULLOCK “A woman of inspiration to young girls and women of all ages” Jillian "The Jaguar" Bullock has been called a modern day Superwoman. In addition to being a Writer, Producer and Filmmaker, she also holds the title of Self-Defense Instructor, Fight Choreographer and Boxer. Bullock, who has been in the fitness field for over 30 years, also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and Wing Chun, and has trained extensively as a wrestler and boxer -- most would definitely agree that she has mastered the art of "self-defense" -- which makes it hard to imagine that this modern-day "Superwoman" was once a "victim" of violence. Jillian Bullock knows first hand how important it is for women to learn the art of self-defense -- as a former rape victim (age 11), Bullock counteracted her negative experience into positive energy through empowerment. Determined to never becoming a “victim” again, Bullock learned self-defense techniques that have equipped her to handle any potentially dangerous situation -- and she plans on taking her message (and techniques) to girls and women across the country. Jillian's message for young girls and women is not just “physical” empowerment…but “emotional” and “spiritual” empowerment as well. In addition, Jillian is currently in pre-production of a film entitled, The Champion Inside, which is a script Jillian wrote, centers on a champion female boxer who is forced to retire after she learns she has cancer. Her return to boxing to regain the IFBA Welterweight title is complicated by her age, she's 39, and her fear and lack of confidence to fight again after five years in boxing exile. Along with being the writer, Jillian will wear the hats of producer, actor, and fight choreographer on the film. For more information about the project log on to - www.thechampioninsidemovie.com. In her effort to encourage women to “think outside the box” and take on “non-traditional” jobs, Ji
