113. When Jeani scheduled a doctor's visit to address hot flashes, night sweats, and an elevated FSH level, she assumed she was simply following in the footsteps of her mother and sisters who had all entered early menopause. Instead, a routine ultrasound revealed a dislodged IUD, and a month later, on September 11th, a positive pregnancy test that quite literally left her weak in the knees. At 43 years old, with her oldest daughter on the cusp of high school graduation, Jeani found herself forced to completely rewrite the blueprint for her upcoming retirement years. In this episode, she dives deep into the complex, heavy emotions that followed, bravely uncovering the profound sense of shame and unworthiness she carried throughout her pregnancy as she struggled to accept a gift she felt she hadn't planned for or deserved.Jeani pulls no punches when discussing the distinct physical and emotional differences of carrying a baby in her 40s versus her 20s. From an early fetal viability scare and a whole new level of bone-deep exhaustion to a sudden preeclampsia diagnosis at 38 weeks, her path to the delivery room required total mental endurance. She walks listeners through her intense, multi-hour induction in Sioux Falls, detailing the physical agony of a grueling hour-and-a-half push to deliver a sunny-side-up baby—and the incredible labor positioning trick from a seasoned nurse that finally brought her son safely to her chest. Looking back with a heart full of grace, Jeani shares an emotional message for other women navigating later-in-life motherhood, wishing she could tell her pregnant self to banish the embarrassment, accept the support of a baby shower, and fully celebrate the beautiful disruption of a mid-life miracle.Get the resources, transcript, and more information about this episode: https://over40fabulousandpregnant.com/episode113/Get Rejoova Eggs & Rejoova Repair. In this powerful episode of Very Bold Radio and Podcast, host Steve Teel sits down with Coach Joey Saxe, the newly appointed Assistant Athletic Director for Corpus Christi ISD and former head football coach at Akins High School in Austin. Coach Saxe shares his incredible journey of leadership, transitioning from a Title I high school football stadium to a larger district platform designed to resource and champion the next generation of educators and athletes. At the heart of this conversation is a breathtaking, unexplainable miracle. Coach Saxe opens up for the first time about his son Easton’s 100-day battle in the NICU after being born at just two pounds. He recounts the exact moment he prayed in a hospital chapel, asking God to transfer his son’s pain onto himself—only to witness a medical anomaly weeks later when severe brain bleeds completely resolved themselves, leaving doctors entirely speechless. Beyond the miracle, this episode is a masterclass in servant leadership. You will hear the genius "secret sauce" behind how Coach Saxe grew the Austin-area Peanut Butter Bowl into a community powerhouse—utilizing popsicles, pizza parties, and high school mascots to collect over a ton of peanut butter for local food banks. From achieving a 100% senior graduation rate to intentionally embedding core values across an entire school campus, Coach Sacks proves that a whistle is a tool for eternal transformation. Key Takeaways From This Episode: The Power of a Visionary Coach: Why the lights on the stadium field eventually turn off for everyone, and why anchoring student-athletes in academics changes generations long after sports are over. The NICU Miracle: A raw, firsthand testimony of a father’s desperate prayer, a physical manifestation of taking on a son's pain, and a medical resolution that secular science could only call "unexplainable." Bridging the Campus Divide: How Coach Saxe built deep, intentional relationships with classroom teachers—from helping them unpack cars on day one to orchestrating formal, team-wide appreciation nights. The Peanut Butter Bowl Blueprint: Practical advice for young coaches on how to turn a simple community service project into a highly competitive, massive multi-school movement. Answering the Call: Understanding when to stay, when to step through an open door, and how to constantly strive to leave a place better than you found it. What does it take to keep grinding when the stadium lights fade, your organization is no longer behind you, and you are left facing a grueling two-year recovery entirely on your own? In this powerful episode of Very Bold Radio and Podcast, host Steve Teel sits down for a dynamic third interview with professional baseball pitcher and certified flamethrower, Jacob Coats. After touching an unofficial 101 MPH on the radar gun and pitching within the Houston Astros organization, Jacob faced a career-altering hurdle: a torn UCL ligament requiring major Tommy John surgery. Jacob opens up about the silent, lonely two-year battle of rehabilitation without a team holding him accountable, the profound mental and spiritual warfare he faced in empty training facilities, and the unique motivating factors—including family, his fiancee Emily, and the future dream of playing catch with his own children—that kept him from walking away. Fast forward to last season: signed by the Gary SouthShore RailCats, Jacob transitioned into a dominant new role as a true, high-adrenaline closer. He shares what it felt like to lock down 13 saves, post a 2.89 ERA, hold opposing hitters to a staggering .195 average, and ultimately earn a spot at the 2025 American Association All-Star Game. Beyond the stats, this conversation pulls back the curtain on the raw reality of independent baseball—from 11-hour overnight bus rides and bed bugs to the incredible power of stadium chaplains and team prayers. More than anything, Jacob shares how he uses his baseball platform not for personal glory, but as a bold testament to God’s healing power and presence. Key Takeaways & Highlights The Mental & Spiritual Battle of Rehab: Jacob details the deep isolation of a two-year recovery outside of affiliated ball, explaining how he leaned on the power of prayer and explicitly rebuked negative thoughts to protect his mind during the hardest days. Thriving Under Pressure in the 9th: Discover the strict, granular 12-to-14-hour daily routine of an independent ball player and why Jacob thrives on the "do-or-die" adrenaline of slamming the door shut as a closer. The Reality of the "Indy Ball" Grind: A candid look at the unglamorous side of chasing a dream, featuring late-night drives, hostile hotel environments, and the deep player camaraderie built through shared struggle. America's Pastime as a Platform: Why baseball serves as a unique bridge for patriotism, family connection, and spreading the Gospel. A Full-Circle All-Star Moment: Jacob recalls his favorite highlights from the past season, including closing out a spectacular Friday night game with his parents on the field to watch the fireworks with him for the first time since his surgery. Why You Should Listen:  In this episode, you will learn about the role of Body Ecology in Candida, Long COVID, viral illness, and autism. About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Donna Gates.  Donna Gates, MEd, ABAAHP is a pioneer in gut health, infections, and immunity.  Decades before it became mainstream, she was the first to teach about the extraordinary and complex world inside the gut, now known as the microbiome, and how it influences immunity, brain health, metabolism, and long-term wellness.  She is the founder of Body Ecology, a revolutionary system that introduced the first gluten-free, sugar-free, and dairy-free nutritional approaches, with a strategic focus on specific fermented foods to create a thriving inner ecosystem in the gut.  In her bestselling book, "The Body Ecology Diet", which has remained relevant for decades, Donna explains how to conquer Candida, restore microbial balance, and rebuild the immune system.  She reveals how the inner ecosystem is established at birth and how this process represents nature's original form of building a vibrant immune system.  By partnering with nature, rather than attempting to override it, we build true immune resilience, even in a toxic world where pathogens are a constant threat.  Her newest book, "Taming the Dragon: Body Ecology's Guide to Preventing and Treating Viral Infections", offers practical solutions for persistent viral illness, immune dysfunction, and long-haulers. Key Takeaways: What is the Body Ecology diet? What strategies can support optimizing Candida and the inner ecosystem? Can fermented foods be used in those with MCAS? How are conditions such as SIBO and SIFO approached? What was Donna's personal journey with Long COVID? What tools has Donna found helpful for regaining her health after COVID? Why You Should Listen:  In this episode, you will learn about the role of microglial activation in complex, chronic illness. About My Guest: My guest for this episode is Dr. Jonathan Streit.  Jonathan Streit, DC, CPN, IFMCP is a Functional and European Biological Medicine practitioner.  He has dedicated his professional life to helping patients with complex chronic illnesses.  His passion for this type of work grew from walking with his wife through her own battle with Epstein Barr and Lyme disease.  Since then, Dr. Streit has focused his career on applying and advancing these approaches to address the deeper roots surrounding chronic illness.  He's the co-founder of the Institute for Restorative Health, where he and his team use their BioRestorative Method™ a comprehensive approach that blends European Biological Medicine, Functional Medicine, neurology, nutrition, and terrain-based healing principles.  Dr. Streit has trained with internationally recognized leaders in healthcare, completed postdoctoral work through the American Institute of Postural Neurology, and teaches pathology and functional medicine for the University of Integrative Health doctoral program.  With nearly two decades of clinical experience, he has supported patients across a wide range of chronic health challenges.  To bring these insights to the many still struggling without answers, he wrote "Silent Spark: An Unseen Force Fueling Chronic Illness and How to Heal", a book that sheds light on the often-overlooked deepest roots keeping people sick. Key Takeaways: What are microglia and their role in chronic illness? What are the M1 and M2 states of the microglia? He has written several books, including "Healing is Possible: New Hope for Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Persistent Pain, and Other Chronic Illnesses" and "On Hope and Healing: For Those Who Have Fallen Through the Medical Cracks."  He has been working to bring an awareness that mold toxicity is a major contributing factor for patients with chronic illness and lectures internationally on this subject which led to the publication of his eBook, "Mold and Mycotoxins: Current Evaluation and Treatment, 2016" (now updated to 2022), and then to his best-selling book "Toxic: Heal Your Body from Mold Toxicity, Lyme Disease, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and Chronic Environmental Illness."  2021 saw the publication of "Energetic Diagnosis," a discussion of the value of intuition and energetic devices as an aid to both diagnosis and treatment of medical illness.  In 2024, his book "The Sensitive Patient's Healing Guide" was released with a focus on how to approach the treatment of sensitive patients.  And most recently, in late 2025, the second edition of his book "Toxic" was released with several years of new information and insights on healing from complex chronic conditions.  Dr. Nathan has been treating chronic complex medical illnesses for 30 years now, and Lyme disease for the past 20 years.  As his practice has evolved, he finds himself increasingly treating the patients who have become so sensitive and toxic that they can no longer tolerate their usual treatments, and his major current interest is in finding unique ways of helping them to recover. What does it take to manage 420 apartments and create a million memorable moments? On this episode, host Dan Ryan sits down with Sebastián Torres-Calderón, the CEO of Stay U-nique, an award-winning short-term rental company in Spain. Sebastián shares his journey from customer journey intern to CEO and reveals how implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) helped his company not only survive the chaos of COVID but quadruple in size. The conversation dives deep into how Stay U-nique uses data and technology to create a frictionless guest experience, the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry, and the political headwinds facing the short-term rental market. Sebastián offers a unique perspective on the debate between prohibition and regulation and provides a powerful case for why collaboration between the private and public sectors is the key to solving housing inventory issues.Takeaways: Track key metrics (KPIs) across all departments, not just leadership, to identify and address recurring issues. Use data to drive improvements in guest experience, operations, and communication.Use frameworks such as the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to set clear goals, break them into manageable projects (“rocks”), and review progress regularly. Involve the entire team in the process for maximum impact.Don't be afraid to make mistakes, learn, and adapt. Regularly test new approaches, measure their impact, and iterate quickly. Use technology to streamline operations (e.g., remote locks, cleaning apps) and enhance the guest experience, but ensure it remains personal and responsive.Success takes time and consistent effort. Focus on long-term growth rather than immediate results.Empower every team member with ownership of projects and clear goals to drive company-wide improvement.Quote of the Show:“To take that time and make it something that they will remember forever, and get to do that every day, that's amazing.” - Sebastián Torres-CalderónLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sebasti%C3%A1n-torres-calderon-serkovic-310044121/ Website: https://www.stay-u-nique.com/en/ Shout Outs:0:53 - World Travel Awards https://www.worldtravelawards.com/ 10:46 - EOS https://www.eosworldwide.com/ 12:02 - Airbnb https://www.airbnb.com/ 13:43 - Traction https://amzn.to/4fEGOTZ 13:43 - Gino Wickman https://www.ginowickman.com/ 14:53 - Mitcham Rentals https://www.mitchamgrouprentals.com/ 16:23 - Enrique Alcántara https://www.linkedin.com/in/enrique-alc%C3%A1ntara-b9623b/ 24:28 - What the Heck is EOS? https://amzn.to/4fGGXGC 40:49 - Sonder https://www.sonder.com/ 40:56 - Marriott https://www.marriott.com/default.mi

Today's guest is a father of three wonderful children, a volunteer youth athletics coach, and has an accomplished career in sales leadership roles. Kevin Martin is the VP, Parchment Growth at Instructure. Kevin joins Host Matt Benelli to discuss the importance of being disciplined as a leader, trusting your team, and the power of reflection. Kevin also shares actionable frameworks for improving personal and team performance, including evaluating what went well, what didn't, and future focuses.Takeaways:Being a successful salesperson does not guarantee that someone will become a great sales leader. The qualities that make one an exceptional salesperson often differ from those required to lead a sales team effectively. Leadership demands selflessness and a focus on the team's success rather than individual achievements.Discipline is a cornerstone for succeeding as a leader. It's necessary to be disciplined in how you use your limited resources—time, talent, and treasure—towards personal and team goals. This disciplined approach is crucial in navigating the myriad of distractions that leaders and their teams face daily.A great leader is characterized by their ability to trust their team members and provide them with opportunities for growth. Giving someone an opportunity often signifies trust and encourages leaders to be explicit in communicating this trust to their team members.Reflection is immensely powerful for your personal and team development. Use a structured reflection process, such as asking what went well, what didn't, and what's on one's mind. This approach aids in continuously learning and improving, crucial for both leaders and their sales teams. Leadership is not about having all the answers but about guiding your team to find answers themselves. A focus on coaching and developing people, rather than merely driving them to achieve targets, is pivotal for lasting success and team cohesion.Although it does not come naturally to everyone, it is important for leaders to develop empathy in order to connect with their team members and help them tackle whatever roadblocks they face.Quote of the Show:“To be a great coach, you have to know what your team is responsible for producing and recognize that your success is predicated wholly on their success. Then you throw yourself into working with each of them to get better at their craft.” - Kevin MartinLinks:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevinmartin4/ Parchment Website: https://www.parchment.com/ Instructure Website: https://www.instructure.com/ Ways to Tune In:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Yb1wPzUxyrfR0Dx35ym1A Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-build-a-coaching-culture/id1699901434 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy50cmFuc2lzdG9yLmZtL2NvYWNoMnNjYWxlLWhvdy1tb2Rlcm4tbGVhZGVycy1idWlsZC1hLWNvYWNoaW5nLWN1bHR1cmU Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/fd188af6-7c17-4b2e-a0b2-196ecd6fdf77 Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-5419703 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Coach2Scale CoachEm™ is the first Coaching Execution Platform that integrates deep learning technology to proactively analyze patterns, highlight the "why" behind the data with root causes, and identify the actions that will ultimately improve business results going forward.  These practical coaching recommendations for managers will help their teams drive more deals, bigger deals, faster deals and loyal customers. Joining the show this week is an experienced executive who has a history of driving brands to success. Please welcome to the show, Head of Development for Ashford Inc and CEO at Premier, a subsidiary of Ashford, Hector Sanchez!Hector sits down with Host Dan Ryan to share the lessons he has learned from his time in the hospitality industry. Hector dives into the importance of owning mistakes when they happen, the challenges of aligning on budget, and how to build teams that play to their members' strengths. Takeaways:  Hospitality is the act of serving people and creating unique experiences that they can share with others. It plays a crucial role in creating memorable moments and fostering connections between individuals. Taking responsibility and providing a solution is crucial in resolving issues effectively, as it demonstrates accountability and ownership, unlike finger-pointing and avoiding responsibility. Ownership groups in the hotel industry typically do not bring various functions, such as project management, in-house. While some may handle design and project management internally, they often rely on external firms for expertise and assistance. As a newcomer to the hospitality industry, it's important to take note of the small details around you. Observing how other projects came to fruition and noting their nuances will help you ramp up your design knowledge. While having a holistic understanding of your industry is beneficial, it doesn't mean you need to be an expert in every discipline. Play to your strengths and build a team whose members fill in each other's gaps.  The disconnect between budget and creativity in the hospitality industry can be a large challenge. Being mindful of budget constraints while fostering creativity is crucial for successful project execution. Quote of the Show:“To me, it's just about how you react to those issues? Do you just hide from them? Do you ignore the calls or do you rise up?” - Hector SanchezLinks: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/premier_design_to_completion  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hector-a-sanchez-65799b7/  Website: https://www.premierpm.com/  Website: https://www.ashfordinc.com/  Shout Outs: 01:16 - Chris Green: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wchrisgreen/  01:23 - Chesapeake Hospitality 01:25 - Remington Hotels: https://www.remingtonhospitality.com/  09:31 - Bermanfalk: https://www.bermanfalk.com/  11:38 - PEMEX: https://www.pemex.com/en/Paginas/default.aspx  12:18 - National Oilwell Varco: https://www.nov.com/  12:30 - Schlumberger: https://www.slb.com/  12:31 - Halliburton: https://www.halliburton.com/  19:13 - Carla Niemann: https://www.linkedin.com/in/carla-niemann-rid-iida-81314a5/  19:19 - Johannes Michalsky: https://www.linkedin.com/in/johannes-michalsky-80166b77/ 19:27 - Mike Funk: https://www.linkedin.com/in/funkmike/  27:36 - Patrick Burke: https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrick-burke-aia-ncarb-3125748b/  27:51 - Rex Tullius 33:20 - Mr C's Beverly Hills 33:22 - Hilton: https://www.hilton.com/en/  33:27 - La Concha: https://www.laconcharesort.com/  33:30 - Autograph Collection: https://autograph-hotels.marriott.com/  33:32 - Le Pavillon Hotel: https://www.lepavillon.com/  34:35 - Courtyard: https://courtyard.marriott.com/  34:37 - Ritz-Carlton: https://www.ritzcarlton.com/  35:41 - Barbara Carlson 39:15 - Renaissance Nashville 47:49 - University of Houston: https://www.uh.edu/  47:52 - Texas Rangers: https://www.mlb.com/rangers  47:56 - Houston Astros: https://www.mlb.com/astros  Ways to Tune In:  Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0A2XOJvb6mGqEPYJ5bilPX Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/defining-hospitality-podcast/id1573596386 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZGVmaW5pbmdob3NwaXRhbGl0eS5saXZlL2ZlZWQueG1s Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/8c904932-90fa-41c3-813e-1cb8f3c42419

Today's guest has worked in sales for over a decade at leading technology companies such as Workday and Oracle prior to landing his current role. Ben Johnson is the Area Vice President of Mid-Market and Public Sector at Zendesk and a Cross-Fit Coach. Ben joins Host Matt Benelli to share the role of managers in a Performance Improvement Plan, why leaders should value deeds over words, and how to develop employees for long-term success.Takeaways:While quarterly performance is important, it is not the only thing that matters when developing a sales rep for long-term success.  Throughout a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), the manager's role is to help guide the employee successfully through the PIP process. Managers should find out how the employee plans on completing it and help them in their efforts. It's vital to understand what drives each of your team members. Make sure to ask them questions to uncover their motivations, such as “what gets you out of bed in the morning” or “what do you do when you're not selling?” Find out their long-term goals and help them achieve those goals by setting them up for success. The drive to constantly learn and develop personally is a critical factor for success in any profession, especially for those in sales. Everyone in a sales organization should be ‘sharpening their swords' by continually refining their skills and expanding their knowledge. The idea of “Deeds, not Words” is based on a manager assessing their team members on what actions they take and not what they say they will do. If the manager doesn't see actions being taken, there will be a candid conversation over the team member's future employment.Key elements for building a strong culture within your sales team include having a common language, following a consistent process, meeting to prepare prior to calls and meetings, and conducting reviews post-meetings. It's important to get the bad news early. Emphasize transparency and promote early communication of issues or setbacks amongst your team. Once the problem is found, it should be communicated immediately to make sure there is time to act and fix it.Quote of the Show:“To be, it's up to me” - Ben JohnsonConnect with Ben:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/benjohnsonzendesk/ Company Website: https://www.zendesk.com/?ref=437 Shoutouts: Blair Tolbard: https://www.linkedin.com/in/blair-tolbard-5a1a9398/ Ways to Tune In:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0Yb1wPzUxyrfR0Dx35ym1A Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-build-a-coaching-culture/id1699901434 Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy50cmFuc2lzdG9yLmZtL2NvYWNoMnNjYWxlLWhvdy1tb2Rlcm4tbGVhZGVycy1idWlsZC1hLWNvYWNoaW5nLWN1bHR1cmU Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/fd188af6-7c17-4b2e-a0b2-196ecd6fdf77 Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/coach2scale-how-modern-leaders-5419703 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Coach2Scale CoachEm™ is the first Coaching Execution Platform that integrates deep learning technology to proactively analyze patterns, highlight the "why" behind the data with root causes, and identify the actions that will ultimately improve business results going forward.  These practical coaching recommendations for managers will help their teams drive more deals, bigger deals, faster deals and loyal customers. He is a Top 20 Revenue Marketer and hosts The Marketing Ladder, a Top 50 Marketing Podcast. Introducing Mason Cosby, Director of Demand Generation at Sales Assembly! Mason joins us today to discuss his company's framework for developing customer engagement, how to discover the right marketing niche for your skillset, and the importance of nurturing your personal network.  Busted Myths:Marketing and Sales aren't aligned and marketing is to blame. All the sales team needs are meetings booked but the marketing team is focused on celebrating meaningless wins because they can't generate those new meetings. Traditionally, the sales team takes a more personalized approach to closing deals and generating revenue, while marketing takes on a broader approach to building relationships and creating awareness. By combining their strengths, they can deliver a seamless and exceptional buying experience to enhance customer satisfaction.Takeaways:One way to align marketing and sales is to connect content engagement with generating pipeline. When marketing sees that a piece of content is generating engagement with the right audience, they should alert sales so they can go start having conversations around that content. Develop content calendars for your executive teams and provide them with content that drives quality engagement with their existing audience and ideal customers. These posts can highlight the company and product in front of the target decision-makers.A goal for Sales Assembly is to see a future with a Google Drive hierarchy and efficient automation (zaps) to automate content distribution across profiles and platforms. Implementing this automated infrastructure requires dedication which includes manually entering data into a spreadsheet and calendar to track content assets. This approach acts as a starting point before scaling and automating the process. It is crucial to understand what channels drive demand creation and demand capture within a target audience. This ensures optimal prioritization of resources for each channel, such as podcasts, social, or email, based on their performance. Marketing involves more than just employing tactics to sell products, so it's important to understand the range of options that complement your individual interests and strengths such as sales, brand building, and customer focus.Career advancement in marketing requires you to specialize while also developing secondary skills continually over time. Becoming an expert in all functional aspects of marketing takes years of devotion and intentional focus.A personal network is an important part of a marketer's skillset that stays with you throughout your career. Cultivating a community that accompanies you throughout your professional journey ensures ongoing support and maintains a loyal audience. Quote of the Show:“To continue to grow long term, you have to get different experiences. You have to view your foundational skillset as the thing that propels you forward and gives you credibility in the room. ” - Mason CosbyLinks:Twitter: https://twitter.com/cosby_masonLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/masoncosby/Website: http://www.salesassembly.com/tourPodcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-marketing-ladder/id1596462333Ways to Tune In:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-hard-corps-marketing-show/id1338838763Amazon Music/Audible: https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/0f4497c6-b402-4cad-9018-1e41b7e8f2bb/the-hard-corps-marketing-showSpotify:  https://open.spotify.com/show/1vVLpNI1LssMTiL6KdsamnStitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-hard-corps-marketing-showGoogle Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy50cmFuc2lzdG9yLmZtL3RoZS1oYXJkLWNvcnBzLW1hcmtldGluZy1zaG93YouTube: https://youtu.be/35YESH0FTPkHard Corps Marketing is produced and sponsored by Ringmaster, on a mission to create connections through branded podcasts. Some of the subjects we discuss in depth include: Guiding principles when it comes to form The best way to think about cadence How and when to apply a forward lean technique  Is a midfoot strike optimal for all runners? Who can benefit from gait analysis? Form cues You're bound to learn some new and useful advice on running form and gait in my discussion with Anh! Thank You InsideTracker! This episode is brought to you by InsideTracker, one of the most reputable blood testing companies in the world. They were founded in 2009 by aging, genetics, and biometrics scientists to help you analyze your body's data and get a firm idea of how well you're responding to training. Understanding your body's biomarkers, from stress hormones to testosterone to Vitamin D, can help you figure out if you're over-training, under-training, optimally training, or if you have a health issue that might be affecting your running. But the best part is that they give you personalized optimal ranges for each of these biomarkers and a host of ways to improve these markers through diet, lifestyle, or exercise changes. I've personally gotten three Ultimate tests from them and the process is simple, easy, and very eye-opening if you haven't done a deep dive on your biomarkers yet.  Of all the investments you can make in your running, this one is like getting a detailed checkup or regularly scheduled maintenance for your internal physiology.  If you're ready to take control of your health and optimize your training, get 25% off any of their blood tests with code STRENGTHRUNNING at InsideTracker. Thank you Spartan Race! You've probably heard of Spartan Races - but you probably don't know that they offer such a wide variety of types of races. From short to long-distance obstacle courses - and even ultra distances, to trail races, stadium races, and even city races in major metropolitan areas.  What I love about obstacle course races is that they are a great diagnostic tool to help you pinpoint what area of your fitness is lacking. Do you have a general aerobic deficiency? Do you struggle with upper body strength? Can you handle the stop and start nature of OCR's? Do you have the mobility to perform the obstacles?  Signing up for a race that challenges you in a different way can help you find out more about yourself as an athlete. Ever since I tried my first obstacle course race in 2012, I've loved these events. They are demanding and require you to be a well-rounded athlete, something that I wholeheartedly endorse here on this podcast. Go to spartan.com to find a local race near you. If you're in Colorado, I hope to see you on June 12th at the Colorado Springs Spartan Race.

Keri and Carter are joined by Daniel Miller, author of Texit: Why and How Texas Will Leave The Union. They discuss the impossibility of "serving two masters," and the difference between supporting the principles behind America and America's current Federal Government. Daniel describes the post-WWII trend of political sovereignty around the world, and the popularity within Texas of the idea of independence. He addresses many of the major fears and doubts expressed by cynics, including financial and military concerns, and compares Texit to Brexit, explaining that leaving the United States is more like leaving the European Union than many people might imagine. Which is more realistic, he asks: reigning in 2.5M unelected Washington bureaucrats, or convincing fellow Texans (many of whom are already supportive of the idea) to vote their way out of the Union?
