Anne Johnstonbrown interviews Hollywood actor and Shriekfest founder Denise Gossett:Denise has been an actress in Television & Feature Films for over 20 years! She can most recently be seen in the Tom Hiddleston movie "I Saw the Light", the Mel Gibson starring Feature Film "Get The Gringo" and the Morris Chestnut movie "When the Bough Breaks". In addition to her acting career, Denise founded Shriekfest film festival in 2001!Born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Denise Gossett came to Los Angeles after moving from Harrisburg, Illinois, to Wassau, Wisconsin, and living for a time in Orlando, Florida, with her parents and younger brother. Although Denise has always expressed an interest in acting, it wasn't until her senior year in high school that her interest truly piqued. After performing in the "Female Odd Couple", she auditioned for a scholarship towards schooling at SCC, which she was awarded. Denise immersed herself in theater, working behind the scenes as well as onstage. After receiving her Associate's Degree, Denise transferred to Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, also having received a scholarship towards her studies.Such dedication to the theater not only led to the furthering of Denise's education, but to other opportunities that would build upon her interest in acting. In 1991, she played the role of Lena Luthor during the fourth season of "The Adventures of Superboy". Upon moving to Los Angeles, a year after receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theater, she immersed herself with Improv (taking classes at the famed Groundlings), acting classes and auditions, which led to working on commercials for Wal-Mart, Boeing, United Health Care, Secret Deodorant and Quicken Loans. Denise soon found herself working on Television in a variety of roles, appearing on such shows as "The Office", "The New Adventures of Old Christine", "Samantha Who?", "Veronica Mars", "The Right Stuff", and "Drake & Josh." Denise also has recurring and series regular roles on television series such as Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101" as Tipper Rivers, "HBO/Deadwood Mysteries", "The Great Imposter" (TV Pilot), "Fashion House" as well as the "M.O.W.'s: The Last Ride" (starring with Dennis Hopper) and "The Life of Tonya Harding."After starring in the Horror Feature Film "Chain of Souls", Denise founded the Shriekfest Film Festival in Los Angeles. With over two decades of success, the festival has given Denise the opportunity to help numerous filmmakers and screenwriters who work with an ethic of hard work and dedication, one that she has held to the whole of her career. The success of Shriekfest has led to such accolades as it being called: "LA's Most Successful & Entertaining Horror Film Festival" by LA Weekly, 2021 MovieMaker Magazine top 50 best genres festivals!, 2021 Dread Central Voted 1 of the Best Horror Festivals in the World! LA WEEKLY Declared "LA's Most Successful & Entertaining Horror Film Festival" 2017 Denise Gossett was voted Most Influential Horror Film Festival Director Voted 2016's Most Influential Women In Genre! 2010 Movie Maker Magazine top 25 Film Festivals worth the entry fee, 2011 Movie Maker Magazine top 13 film festivals to die for and Denise was "Voted Number 5 out of 13 Most Influential Women In Horror History." & SyFy Wire "Voted 2016's Most Influential Woman in Genre". Edward Martin III is a writer and filmmaker scrabbling together a semblance of home in the Pacific Northwest. He's surrounded by looming evergreens with sullen boughs, mountains that ponder the nature of death, and a relentless sea that dissolves everything it touches. Also, there's a cat, primarily to offset all that rich delicious goodness. Edward's second book "Through the Night" is being adapted to a feature film, and he is currently in production on several new films. His most recent movies are "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" (an animated adaptation of the Lovecraft novel), "Flesh of my Flesh" (a bizarre zombie horror set in the too-near future), and "The Dead," a drama set at a wake. Several other film projects are in development at this time.  He has also written and directed two web series "Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse" and "Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse for Zombies" and is working on two more. Because sleep, apparently, is an option. His first project was a six-episode comedy series entitled Great Scott!! …television that bothers you. The series was sold to national station The Comedy Network and the local affiliate CTV station. A writer inspired by the conflicting impulses just under the surface in all of us, Greg Chandler is known for his vision of a gothic, neo-noir suburbia.  He creates a dark world, violent yet funny, familiar yet hypnotically exotic.  A rough, tough world, that surprises with its compassion and lack of cynicism.    Chandler's first feature script, Leather, about a sexually ambiguous sandal-maker living in modern upstate New York, was directed by Patrick McGuinn.  A cult following has grown around Leather.     His second feature script, A Night of Nightmares, a female-centered, character-driven horror film directed by Buddy Giovinazzo, garnered excellent reviews at the 2013 Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal and at London's FrightFest.    His script Marrow won 1st Runner Up at the 2015 Independent Filmmakers Showcase in Los Angeles.  His script, Rancho Mirage, about a cult-like trio of criminals deep in the California desert who storm into the life of an aging Hollywood star, has also earned awards at film festivals.      Chandler's passion for Los Angeles history, punk rock of the 70s and 80s, romantic crooners of the 40s, true crime, the occult, and people with a loose grip on reality, finds its way into everything he creates.   Currently, he is working on Tynee, a horror script to be directed by David Jacobson.  Tynee was a feature screenplay finalist at the 2016 Shriekfest and at the 2016 Williamsburg International Film Festival.   Chandler was born in Santa Monica and raised in the LA suburb of Arcadia before earning degrees at USC and Columbia University.  He lives in Pasadena, CA.

Good Cops Entertainment is a production company started by Noel Carroll, Clayton Cogswell, Jacob Givens and Derek Haugen. The team came together in 2011 to produce the web series Good Cops, a story about 80's styled detectives who use faulty logic (that turns out to be absolutely correct) and explosions to solve innocuous crimes. The show was an immediate hit and was bought by digital giant Machinima who funded the even more successful second season of the show. The Good Cops team then went on to create the show for which they are best known, Tumbleweed. This fast-paced, comedy takes place in the world of a western video game, where a rotten, teenaged gamer tries to chase skirts and cause trouble, but the video game itself keeps brutally punishing him for doing so. Most recently, The Good Cops completed their first feature film, “I Had a Bloody Good Time at House Harker,” a movie about three idiots who hire a vampire actor to convince a skeptical town that vampires exist. Things get bloody when the hired actor is killed and replaced by an actual vampire. Jackie Kong is a director, producer, and screenwriter known for irreverent comedy and over-the-top horror films. In 1983, she made her feature film debut as director with the low-budget drive-in horror film The Being, which starred Martin Landau and Jose Ferrer. In 1984, she followed up by directing and co-writing the breakout comedy Night Patrol, featuring Linda Blair, about a Los Angeles policeman moonlighting as a stand-up comedian. Kong received a Platinum Video award from the RIAA for Night Patrol, which became a college-party film staple. Night Patrol was a major worldwide theatrical success, setting the stage for Kong to direct the comedic cult horror film Blood Diner, released in 1987. Kong added her comedic flair to Blood Diner, changing the traditional horror film into a gore fest with outrageous effects and comedy, ultimately pioneering a new sub-genre of horror film. It is now one of the most beloved horror films of all time. The fact that Blood Diner was directed by a woman blew audience' and critics' minds. She followed that with another comedy, The Underachievers. Kong's films are always irreverent, inventive, shocking, and funny. Weirdly, she enjoyed making the horror films much more than the comedies. "Making a monster movie was actually more fun than making a comedy," she says. "People watched the comedies and because they're laughing, think it must have been so much fun, when in fact that was harder work than making a monster movie. There's something about getting everyone in makeup and costumes and creating a hyper reality, that's so much more fun. Both are tough crowds to surprise."Writer/director/producer Jackie Kong made a handful of enjoyably low-budget pictures throughout the 80s. She was born on June 14 in Hanford, California and grew up in Benedict Canyon above Beverly Hills.  She was recently awarded in the top 10 Women Horror Directors!
