Welcome to the Horror Project Podcast. Join hosts Laura and Phil as they review Cabin Fever (2002).This week on the podcast we check out Cabin Fever, and we were surprised by the behaviour and attitudes of the characters in the movie. The story follows five college graduates who rent a cabin in the woods and start getting infected by a gruesome flesh-eating virus, drawing the attention of the murderous locals. We discussed the strange tone, the hit-or-miss comedic scenes, Dennis the hand-biting-boy, the special FX, and how it was an intriguing watch two decades prior to the Covid pandemic. We hope you enjoy the show, thanks for listening!Email - Horrorprojectpodcast@hotmail.com X (Formerly Twitter) - @TheHorrorProje1Instagram - horrorprojectpodcastTikTok - @horrorprojectpodcastSay Hi - Send The Horror Project a Message!
Finally, an actually GORY movie! We know you've all been waiting for one, and we're excited to talk about one... and which one better than this insane bloodbath?!!(And get ready, because this one's our long one!) Gore Maestro Eli Roth literally burst onto the horror scene back in 2002 at TIFF (and then in the US a year later) with his feature film debut, "Cabin Fever", and since then, it's garnered mad respect from the likes of Peter Jackson and it's spawned two sequels and a remake, all of which we discuss in our eighth episode -- but don't worry, we also talk about a list of other things, such as bi-polar disorder, the upcoming holidays, and our current theme: Six Weeks of Holiday Horror, which begins next week with the 1972 Sally Field Thanksgiving-set thriller, “Home For the Holidays". As always, we're excited to be here, and grateful for you to be listening. Don't hesitate to leave us a review, even if Stanley pretends to not handle constructive criticism (hahaha.) Comments and suggestions are always welcome! We love all of you!Instagram/Twitter: @thegorygaysE-mail: thegorygays@gmail.com

On this weeks episode of #WeNeedToTalk, Malynda chats with Actress and Author Cerina Vincent. They chat about what sparked her to write her new childrens book about race, skin color and diversity, how it's important to start these conversations with children early, and what she is still learning about herself and how she can make a difference! Born and raised in Las Vegas, NV, Cerina spent her formative years growing up in a large, loving Italian family and performing in stage productions, musicals and beauty pageants. After hanging up her crown as Miss Nevada Teen USA 1996, she moved to Hollywood and began working in film and television full time. With her radiant beauty, strong work ethic and ever-so charming personality, she was quick to be noticed by major casting directors. Cerina's first major role was starring in the #1 kid's series in the world during the late 90's – “Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy” as ‘Maya' the Yellow Power Ranger. She quickly went from a TV superhero to a silver screen siren, picking up a Saturn Award Nomination for her performance in the horror sensation “Cabin Fever.” Swiftly becoming a world-renowned on screen ‘scream queen,' she went on to star in the films “Not Another Teen Movie,” “Return to House on Haunted Hill,” “It Waits,” “Monika,” “Tales of Halloween,” a mini-series for AMC's “The Walking Dead,” the short film “Darkened Room” (directed by David Lynch), “Killing Eleanor”, and dozens of other genre fan favorites. Beyond SyFy/Horror, her multi-faceted talent has led to guest roles on dozens of hit comedic shows, such as “Two and a Half Men,” “Mike and Molly,” “Workaholics,” and “Californication.” Everybody Has a Belly Button is a timeless and delightful book for babies and toddlers that teaches our youngest readers about skin color, equality, and equity in the same way we teach our babies where their belly button, nose, eyes, and toes are. Cerina Vincent's effortless rhymes and Zoi Hunter's digital watercolor designs illustrate that “every body” is the same. And the subtle differences in our bodies' colors (eyes, hair, skin) is what makes us all beautiful and special, “like a rainbow.”
Today on Too Opinionated, we talk with actress/author Cerina Vincent about her new children's book Everybody has a Bellybutton! PUBLICATION DATE: March 11th , 2022 Cerina's first major role was starring in the #1 kid's series in the world during the late 90's – “Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy” as ‘Maya' the Yellow Power Ranger. Beyond SyFy/Horror, her multi-faceted talent has led to guest roles on dozens of hit comedic shows, such as “Two and a Half Men,” “Mike and Molly,” “Workaholics,” and “Californication.” Aside from her well-accomplished acting career, Cerina has also had much success as a writer. She paired up with author Jodi Collins to co-write the 2007 female-empowerment best-selling book series published by HarperCollins, “How to Eat Like a Hot Chick” (2007), “How to Love Like a Hot Chick” (2009), and “Live Like a Hot Chick” (2010). In her free time, the Hollywood-based actress still spends time writing, cooking with family, practicing yoga (which she's done for over 20 years), being a full-time mom to Nico, spreading awareness for Cystic Fibrosis (a cause near and dear to her heart) and spreading her core-message of ‘kindness.' In 2020 she also launched her parenting podcast, “Raising Amazing” with co-host, Pediatrician Dr. Joel Gator Warsh. She's excited to put her passion for equality and raising kind children who are aware of the world around them into her first children's book “Everybody Has A Belly Button”. She uses the rhymes and illustrations (by Black Artist Zoi Hunter) to show children the ways we are all alike, despite what may appear to be our physical differences. Yay! Cerina Vincent wrote her first book for babies! Everybody has a Belly Button hits stores NOW and this episode is all about what inspired it, why she wrote it, what it means to her, and of course Dr. Gator gets on his amazing soap box about why titling the book Everybody has a Belly Button is totally appropriate because yes,-- everyone must have at one point had a belly button. :) This is a fun one! Give it a listen and order the book wherever books are sold!
This very special episode we have breast cancer previvor Lesley Murphy share her story about making the decision to get a double mastectomy when learning she had the BRCA/breast cancer gene. You may know her from The Bachelor, but Leslie is a travel blogger, TV personality, yoga teacher and now a new mother! Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent had a really honest chat about her decision to have the surgery, how it impacted her ability to breast feed, judgement she faced around that, and many more details of her incredible journey and story. We are grateful to Leslie for coming on our show--sharing stories and learning from each other helps us all raise the bar on ourselves so we can raise amazing humans. We learned so much on this one! Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent has such a fascinating conversation with Dr. Alavi and Tonya Skurzynski about their genius dissolvable supplements line, Frunutta! Well this is a fun one! Can't you hear your own parents voices in your head saying, "chew your food!" Well there are some very good scientific reasons for this. Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat with Dr. Stasi who's a pediatric dentists and expert in the art of chewing! Chewing food completely is the first step in digestion and our society is turning into a a society that isn't chewing their food! As we teach our kids proper eating habits, we, as parents, also need to slooooow down and start enjoying meals. Not just for our mental health, but physical health as well! Grab a snack and give it a listen!
This episode gets a little weird. For a sequel of a film that was surprisingly enjoyable, it really does jump the shark. This episode takes a bit to get moving since there isn't a lot to talk about. At one point Nigel starts talking about the 1985 Alien ripoff, Creature. Yeah, it gets weird. But, if you're a completionist (like us) you won't want to miss this episode. We often throw around the word OCD. But are these little quirks that we have in our family really Obsesive Cumpulsive Disorder? Or, is it just anxiety and normal toddler/preschool behavior? Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent dig into this in this very insightful episode with psychologist and mental health trailblazer, Roseann Capanna-Hodge. We've all heard of Ayurveda. But do we really know what it is? Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat with Dr. Zubin Billmoria about one of the worlds oldest whole body healing systems that was developed over 3000 years ago in India. When it comes to the heath of ourselves and our families why wouldn't we think about cultivating "whole body" health-- rather than wait until we are sick and just treat symptoms? And there's a reason why these ancient healing practices work! We loved this conversation! Give it a listen and a remember to email us your questions!

Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat about their thoughts, opinions, and struggles with screen time, and tech and toddler expert Julia Storm gives advice on how much is too much, what kind of content is appropriate for our toddlers and preschoolers, and tips on how to put away our phones and connect!
You are what you eat. Plain and simple. We know this to be true as adults-- so why are so many kid food products on the market filled with toxins and chemicals and fake sugars and fats? And this secret has been around for centuries! We can learn so much from ancient teachings and Eastern medicine and it is time we start incorporating them into our daily lives. And if our lives are too busy to actually sit down and mediate, we need to create living meditations and calming practices so we can reach the goal that everyone wants for themselves and their children; HAPPINESS!

Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent sit down with Dr. Aviva Romm to chat about why so many of our kids are going through early puberty and what we can do to help slow it down. The doctors give tips on how to talk to kids about puberty and when, and they chat about chemicals and endocrine disrupters in our environment, our homes, our food, and about Cerina's extreme chemical sensitivity. They dive into all the goodies in Dr. Aviva's new book, Hormone Intelligence, and how empowered we will all feel when we really know what's going on with our hormones, our bodies, and most importantly how to help guide our kids through the very tricky and tender time of puberty.
Its "Gun Violence Awareness Week" and Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent sit down with actress, mother, and gun safety advocate, Tiffany Shepis, who's daughter Mia Tretta was shot in the Saugus High School shooting in Santa Clarita, CA. Tiffany shares her family's very personal journey through this unbelievably traumatic event, and gives tips on how we can all do better to keep our kids safer. They chat about the Be S.M.A.R.T program, emotional support animals for healing, and their new foundation, "From Trauma to Triumph" to help other kids and teens who've been through traumatic events. These conversations are not comfortable to have, but if we are going to come together to raise the bar on our parenting, so we can raise our amazing kids, we have to have these conversation. All of our kids are all of our kids and we have to do better to protect them.
Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat with Cerina's youngest Stuck in the Middle co-star from Disney Channel, talented teen actress, Ariana Greenblatt, and her mother Soli! This delightful mother-daughter-duo discuss how a teenager navigates pandemic times, social media, and what it's like balancing school with set life! They give us hope, and fun-for-the-whole-family ideas of how to make life more fun via zoom, or just in general! We'll also hear from Sharon Feldstein, celebrity mother, CEO, Co-Founder and visionary behind YourMomCares who discusses changing the language from "teen mental illness" to "teen mental wellness" and their new app they are working on that will truly save lives! Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat with Dr. Ian Smith from The Doctors about his new book FAST BURN. The world is coming back, summer is coming, and many parents are thinking about wanting to eat better so we can feel better, so we can have more energy (and patience) for our amazing little ones. It's not just about healthy food choices, but also about structuring our days. We discuss intermittent fasting, and why no matter how busy we are, we must carve out the time to actually cook.
So many mothers have been pregnant in this pandemic, and the anxiety is real! Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent chat with fabulous mama-to-be, Hunter McGrady about her pregnancy, and also get into a discussion about body positivity, and the very polarizing debate over the Snoo! Ha! Also, we have a very special story; Ayla, an ER nurse and mother of two, shares her very personal story of what it was like pregnant in a pandemic while treated Covid patients and experiencing extreme pre-natal anxiety and depression. NURSES truly are superheroes!
Oh boy. On this episode, the Brides are taking a trip into the woods and dodging a flesh-eating virus and lots of early 2000s humor as we try to make heads or tails of Eli Roth's 2002 gorefest Cabin Fever. This movie doesn't quite know what it's trying to be - a parody of horror movies, a grimdark tribute to the movies Roth clearly loves, or somewhere in between. All we know is, most of it doesn't really work, and when it pays homage to classic horror, it does so with arrows and bold font. There are definitely other, better movies directed by Eli Roth, with scripts that don't scream mid-90s meta - we recommend Hostel! But what Cabin Fever does well, it does in spectacularly chilling fashion, with excellent makeup effects and a few genuinely fun "EW" moments. Along the way we touch on the infamous leg shaving scene, and how our mutual childhood crush on Rider Strong completely colored our view of his character's total disregard for consent. Also, holy hell we forgot about that n-word joke! Additionally, Alysa shares her thoughts on the 2016 reboot of the same name, which is worth checking out if you want this exact same movie, but with the humor (and the racism) taken out. NOTE: This episode contains discussion of a scene in which a sleeping woman is sexually stimulated without her consent. Take care, pals! Cabin Fever. 2002. Directed and written by Eli Roth. Starring Rider Strong, Jordan Ladd, Cerina Vincent, Joey Kern, and James DiBello.
Through yoga, mindfulness, and meditation, we can guide our kids into understanding their mind and body and give them tools to transform their lives. Dr. Gator and Cerina Vincent sit down with expert Libby Edson, creator of YoMind, to talk neuroscience and how to "Breathe, Perceive, Respond" and meet moments with mindfulness. There will be an epidemic that will follow the pandemic if we don't equip our kids with the tools to navigate stress and anxiety. Social emotional learning is being prioritized in some schools--but this is vital for every child. And these practices are life-changing for adults, too! So we can model mindful behavior for our kids, as well as navigate our own stresses with more compassion.
