Digging for Fire was something of a sleeper for us. We explain what that means in the episode. What we can say is that this is a solid movie. There are a number of lessons in this one, all good. Except for the trailer. Very misleading, and coupled with the very brief logline it may turn people away. Which is a shame because if you skip past this film  you're missing out on some very good entertainment. There is a lot to enjoy and learn from in this movie.  Digging for Fire can be found on FilmRise.

Below is a transcript of the podcast. Hello there, and welcome to A Brit talks Vintage TV, with me Jamie Dyer. There are lots of free ad-supported streaming services around at the moment, providing an alternative to paid big hitters like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney Plus. These platforms, including FilmRise, Shout Factory TV, Ketchup TV, Plex, Pluto TV and parts of YouTube are awash with officially licensed vintage television content. Plex, for example, is home to a bizarre 1960s sitcom, The Patty Duke Show; Something I had never seen before. Maybe I'll talk about it in another episode sometime. A few months ago, a new free streamer popped up in the UK: IMDB TV. Available as an ad-supported channel on the Amazon Prime Video platform, the service offers a mixture of movies and television; most of which used to form part of the Prime package. Like their paid competitors, there is a slowly building emphasis on originals with smatterings of big-name library content; A big draw. The library includes episodes of classic 1980s series like Magnum PI and The A-Team, premium titles that are sure to attract attention. The rest of the content, though, starts to look very familiar if you're aware of the other free streamers that exist. This seems to be a thing with the British version of services like this, as most of the big-name companies have their content tied into licensing deals elsewhere. Compared to the American counterpart of IMDB TV, which launched in 2019, it's fair to say the UK offering felt a little underwhelming. On quick inspection, I saw such TV classics as All In The Family, Maude, Bewitched, Good Times, Perry Mason, Columbo, Little House On The Prarie, The Addams Family, Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, the original One Day At A Time, Family Affair, The Dick Van Dyke Show and many more. Looking at this list was like looking into the past in more ways than one. As I've observed on previous podcasts, Amazon Prime in the UK used to be filled with some of these gems, but no more. I guess at this point, the reasonable thing to do is to ask why this is the case. In my view, it's most probably down to contracts and audience. As in, why bother putting this stuff on, or renewing a trial when it expires, when people aren't familiar with it. I'm well aware that for every person, like me, who has heard a mention of some of these titles and feels curious about it, there are thousands who wouldn't. I think that's the realisation here, and something we have to accept. It's also worth noting that IMDB TV is still in the early stages of its life in the UK. There may come a time when a distributor takes a chance on the UK due to the growing audience on the platform, and decide to invest. It happened before on other services, and it could happen again! So what else is there to say? I've said enough. If you have anything to say about the shows mentioned in this podcast, you can email Jamie@OldTimeReview.co.uk, tweet @ABritTalksVTV on Twitter or check out the Facebook page, Old Time Review. This is Jamie Dyer signing off.

Here is a sneak peek at our new Patreon series! Join us on https://www.patreon.com/resolvedmysteriespodcast to get access to three different series releasing bi-weekly. This is first episode of our new series--the Forgotten Few! In this series we’ll be covering the cases that were not included in the FilmRise re-edit of Unsolved Mysteries that we currently watch on Amazon and other platforms. In our first Forgotten Few episode, Karlin covers the story of the Freedom II. When Bob Dozier and John Russell washed up on the shores of Stinson Beach, CA in November of 1981, they said that their boat, the Freedom II had been hit by a freighter and destroyed. Tragically, the men reported that John’s wife, Suzanne Russell, and their friend Kristin Tomlin had been lost at sea after the boat went down. Strangely, the men left town shortly after this with their female companions still missing. This left authorities a bit suspicious. Later, the men called authorities to let them know that there was actually one more woman on the boat with them, Sherry (or Cheri) Ann Dozier. The tale of the Freedom II began to grow more and more strange as time went on and it became clear that there was much more to the story than a boat lost at sea.  Support us: https://resolvedmysteriespodcast.com/advertising-support Oooooh get that sweeeeeeeet RM merch, honeys! https://resolvedmysteriespodcast.com/merch Follow us! A standout graduate of Stephen F. Austin University's film program, writer-director Phillip Guzman has shined since bursting onto the scene with “The Lawless”, a crime-thriller feature made for just $7,500. His follow-up projects “Desdemona: A Love Story”, “2:22”, and “A Kiss and a Promise” brought numerous festival awards and acclaim.  After seeing the latter, Jeffrey Reddick (creator of "Final Destination") personally endorsed Guzman to helm the author's newest horror franchise, "Dead Awake", Guzman's first take at both the horror genre and another writer's material.  Though born in south Texas, Guzman spent his formative years growing up in Europe, giving him a unique perspective on the world and cinema from an American.   James LaMarr is an award-winning feature film producer with more than a decade of experience in the entertainment industry.  A dedicated Texas A&M University alumnus, he started his career in front of the camera as an actor before transitioning to producing – though he can still be spotted doing the occasional cameo in the projects he produces.  His most recent completed film is the Shriekfest 2017 winner for Best Thriller Feature, “Dead Awake”.   Phillip and James have produced their projects through their Austin-based company Incendiary Features since 2007.  Together they have worked on “The Lawless”, “2:22”, “Desdemona: A Love Story”, and “Dead Awake”, the latter of which was recently picked up for a theatrical release by FilmRise in early 2017.  Their upcoming feature “200 Hours”, a paranormal horror set in the 80s, is currently in post-production.
