We talk with Benjamin Ree about his documentary 'The Remarkable Life of Ibelin' (2024). The film tells the story of Mats Steen, a young man in Norway born with a severe form of muscular dystrophy that left him physically isolated for most of his life. Through the online multiplayer game 'World of Warcraft,' however, Mats found connection with a community of people around the world. Unbeknownst to his family, he had created a second life in the game as his character, Ibelin, building deep friendships with other players while keeping his real identity and health struggles private. When he passed away at just 25 years old, his family mourned what they thought had been a lonely life – until they began receiving an outpouring of messages from Mats' friends across the globe. To bring Mats' online world to life, Benjamin collaborated with animators to recreate scenes from Mats' life in 'World of Warcraft,' allowing viewers to experience the exact environment, characters, and activities Mats had been immersed in. These scenes are blended with selections from the extensive video footage Mats' family captured of his life in the physical world.Benjamin Ree is a three-time Sundance award-winning director, known for several documentaries, including 'Magnus' and 'The Painter and the Thief.'Actual Facts is hosted by Eric SteuerSend us a note: actualfactspod@gmail.comOur show's theme music is by Yalls: https://www.dancasey.me/Benjamin Ree: https://benjaminree.com/MovieMaker Magazine: https://www.moviemaker.com/

We speak with Nick August-Perna about his documentary 'Tell Them You Love Me' (2023). The film explores the complex and controversial case of Anna Stubblefield, a former Rutgers ethics professor who was convicted in 2015 for the sexual assault of Derrick Johnson, a nonverbal Black man with cerebral palsy. Stubblefield, a white woman, met Johnson while working to improve his communication skills using Facilitated Communication, a controversial and often disputed method in which a facilitator helps guide a person with disabilities in typing or pointing to letters. Stubblefield claimed that, through this process, she and Johnson developed a deep emotional bond, which led to a consensual sexual relationship. However, Johnson's mother, Daisy, his brother, John, and ultimately the court argued that Derrick lacked the cognitive ability to consent, accusing Stubblefield of manipulating both his communication and his capacity for intimacy. Nick is an award-winning director, producer, and editor, known for co-directing 'The Oxy Kingpins' (2021) and 'The Swell Season' (2011), among other works.Actual Facts is hosted by Eric SteuerSend us a note: actualfactspod@gmail.comTheme music by Yalls: https://www.dancasey.me/Nick August-Perna: https://www.nickaugustperna.com/MovieMaker Magazine: https://www.moviemaker.com/

Clair Titley joins to discuss her documentary 'The Contestant' (2023). The film tells the surreal story of Nasubi, an aspiring Japanese comedian who, in 1998 at the age of 22, was selected for a reality TV show produced by the team behind the popular series 'Denpa Shonen.' One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure Ryan Kugler, APlanBe.com – The Sharkpreneur podcast with Seth Greene Episode 935 Ryan Kugler Ryan Kugler is the President and owner of three different companies, A5 Events, Ideal Content, and Plan B (which is one of the nation's largest secondary wholesalers in the country). Born in Chicago, Ryan moved to Los Angeles at a young age where he took a strong interest in the film industry and made his way onto several studio lots. When he was 13, Ryan developed a friendship with Ted Danson while on the set of NBC's hit TV show Cheers. At the request and urging of Danson, Ryan wrote and directed his own short film entitled “The Question.” The film was shot on the Paramount Lot and starred Ted Danson, Kirstie Alley, Woody Harrelson and George Wendt. From then on Ryan knew he wanted to work in the entertainment industry. Ryan began working at the family business called DVA (a film distribution company), on his summer breaks while attending school. Upon finishing school, he moved to Florida to work full time at DVA in sales. It took him only a short time to learn the ropes, and he quickly moved up to Buyer, soon followed by VP of Purchasing. With his unique blend of creative and operational strengths as well as his exceptional skills in sales, Ryan founded the Wholesale Division of DVA, Inc., which would help make DVA, Inc. one of the nation's largest video wholesalers bringing in annual sales of upwards of $20 million. In 1998, Ryan brought his wholesale division to Los Angeles. Since then, he has developed exclusive relationships with many of the major movie studios, finding secondary homes for films and distributing to over 350 accounts including Best Buy, Target, and other major retailers (totaling over 24,000 storefronts at the time). In 2013 Ryan saw the writing on the wall (DVDs declining and people watching films on line) and thus left the family business of DVA, and started not 1, but 3 different companies (testing his wits); Plan B, which buys and sells closeouts from manufacturers, and retailers (Plan B has help moved some 500 million pieces of inventory across many different products, giving a second life to the product life cycle, with combined sales of some 500 million over the his last 30 years). Ryan also started an event company named, A5 Events which produces corporate events for large corporations and Non-Profits organizations which helps raise funds with charity events such as 5K/10K Run walks nationwide; and lastly Ryan started a marketing company called, Ideal Content which works with Fortune 500 companies producing very unique and high-end marketing material that stand apart from the others. As a public face for the entertainment industry, and the event industry Ryan has appeared both on national TV and in print. He has appeared on the CBS Early Show, ABC7 News, and KTLA Prime Time News and has been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, Fortune Magazine, the Washington Post, the LA Times, the Los Angeles Business Journal, Moviemaker Magazine, and the New York Times. Listen to this informative Sharkpreneur episode with Ryan Kugler about how one man's trash is another man's treasure. Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show: - How businesses in the liquidation industry must constantly pivot to meet new needs. - Why its beneficial to buy products in bulk. - How knowing what your customers want will set you up for success. - How there are many different facets to the liquidation business. - Why technology has made it more difficult to get ahold of companies who may want to sell or buy from you. Ryan Kugler was the President and Co-Owner of DVA, Inc, one of the nation's largest distributors of excess inventory. Ryan was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter. Right from the start, Ryan took a strong interest in film and everything surrounding the medium. At the age of 13, Ryan made his way onto several studio lots with the intent of soaking it all up. On one particular day, Ryan found himself at Paramount and stumbled onto the set of the hit TV show, Cheers. He soon met the entire cast. When asked by Ted Danson about his interest in TV and films, Ryan replied, “I want to be a Director.” It was then that Mr. Danson made him an offer too good to pass up. Ryan was to write and direct his own short-movie in which Mr. Danson and several other Cheers cast members would appear. Several months later, Ryan made good. He directed his first short film, “The Question,” right there on the Paramount Lot, starring none other than Ted Danson, Kirsty Alley, Woody Harrelson and George Wendt. Soon thereafter, Ryan began working for DVA, Inc. on his summer breaks, and when he completed his schooling, he relocated to Florida to work full-time in the sales division at DVA, Inc. After learning the ropes, he soon moved up to Buyer, and eventually followed that by getting promoted to VP of Purchasing. With his unique blend of creative intuition and operational strength, as well as his exceptional skills in sales, Ryan founded the Closeout Division of DVA, Inc., making DVA, Inc. the largest buyer of closeouts in the Entertainment industry — and selling to the largest retailers across the United States. In 1998, Ryan opened up offices in Los Angeles to specifically serve the Movie Studios, Music Labels, and Game Publishers. Since then, he has developed relationships with all of the major studios, labels and publishers, helping them with their inventory issues that arise as well as servicing over 350 retail accounts with 25,000 storefronts. With an account base of over 350 companies, including such retailers as Best Buy, Target, Sear/Kmart, Pep Boys, Staples and more, Ryan has built and grown the Division to 30+ employees, selling over 20 million units per year and generating $20+ million in annual sales. As a public face for the entertainment industry as well as the overstock world, Ryan routinely appears on both National TV and in print. He has appeared on the CBS Early Show, ABC7 News in Los Angeles, and on the KTLA Prime Time News. Ryan has also been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Business Journal, Moviemaker Magazine and the New York Times. Ryan has continually lent his voice and vast knowledge of the entertainment industry to conferences and seminars as well as to students. Most recently, Ryan spoke to postgraduates at the Peter F. Drucker & Masotoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. He also spoke to current students at Art Center College of Design. In addition to speaking at seminars and conferences, Ryan also hosts film seminars which provide practical, real-world advice to filmmakers, actors, producers and anyone else who wants to succeed in the movie production and distribution industry. Ryan recently completed work co-authoring a book with best-selling author Eric Sherman, detailing the ins and outs of film distribution business. As ever, Ryan remains very busy with all of these endeavors, while also fulfilling his desire to help the community. He is the Executive Director of the Say No to Drugs Race for twelve years running, and serves on the Toluca Lake city council. When asked what he considers his greatest strength, Ryan responded with a few key principles, saying: “Be nice to everyone, always return phone calls, and stay in communication with everyone. Try your hardest to make anything happen.” In 2014, Ryan created three new companies: A5 Events, Ideal Content and Plan B Distribution. Marilyn Monroe almost requires no introduction. The iconic star of the silver screen still resonates with the viewing public even 60 years after her untimely death. Eurydice speaks with Michael Brody, co-founder of the Crested Butte Film Festival, about life in Boulder Colorado where they found spiritual and somatic awakening, film through Stan Brackage Michael's teacher at CU and literary writing. In this episode, Eurydice and Michael discuss being a man in the 21st century as a journey to integrate into wholeness and recast the masculine rites of passage into including the full spectrum of human relationship experience. Eurydice talks of Man's Burden of Social Debt & Self-Censorship. Patriarchy doesn't let man speak about everything man to man with nothing forbidden or diminishing; speaking truth in all the ways patriarchy has considered unmanlike. The restraints and censorships that the patriarchy (and the self raised snd trained in patriarchy) puts on men. Is man responsible for every birth he's inseminated? Is it an assumed burden? Gender is obsolete nowadays but the weight of our patriarchal history is real and cages us all in our prescribed roles that define us since birth. The old norm culture keeps creating false social emergencies to get our attention away from the real challenges of evolution. ⚡️ Crested Butte Film Festival starts on Sept. 24 and runs until Oct. 3rd. Go watch it online at https://CBfilmfest.org #cbfilmfestival ⚡️ Michael Brody has served as Co-Founder, Co-Director, and Artistic and Programming Director of Crested Butte Film Festival, in Colorado, named by MovieMaker Magazine as "one of the coolest film festivals in the world” for the past 11 years. Calgary is sleek and modern enough to double for any city in the world, but surrounded by pristine plains and mountain ranges that drew productions like The Revenant and Brokeback Mountain. It has a film-friendly local government, bustling production schedule, and it's one of MovieMaker Magazine's Top 10 Cities to Live and Work as a Moviemaker. It may also be the most livable city in the Western Hemisphere — it was in the Economist Intelligence Unit's top 5 cities in the world for a decade, and was the top Western Hemisphere city for two. All that, and it wants people to move there. So: Should you? We get into it this episode with a man who says yes: Luke Azevedo, Calgary's film commissioner and Vice President of Creative Industries for Calgary Economic Development. He also told us that fans have hit him up on Twitter to play Assassin's Creed, and that he's obliged. He's also engaged with a few about their Assassin's Creed fan theories. Here's a breakdown of the episode, with timestamps:3:15: Interview with Alexandre Amancio begins4:15: How video games help people get out of their heads during lockdown. "It's a way to travel outside of your home even if you are confined."5:24: How Assassin's Creed fans have contacted him to play.9:30: Rethinking the idea of storytelling. 13:50: Let's talk about Kodak.21:00: Let's talk about Dr. Mario vs. Assassin's Creed29:00: How his company, Reflector, is building a "new, realistic world."31:30: What we can all learn from John Wick.33:00: How to build a world: "You can't decide to do something because you've done market research. ... The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival made “The Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” list by MovieMaker Magazine in 2013. I am proud to State that I had a part in that at the ground level as one of the people who got it off the ground. Here’s the first step we took to get it done: Well, first things first! I was approached by Michael Coty and Christopher (Kulovitz at the time) Wydra. These gents were the founders of Get Reel, a student film festival. They wanted to know if I could help them put together a film festival. The quick answer was yes! I was desperate to bring more opportunities for serious, professional actors to our town and I knew this was a very good way to make that happen. It’s Not What you Know, It’s WHO You Know My drive alone wasn’t going to get the job done. The first thing I did was introduce the gentlemen to a production company I had been making commercials, doing live events, and acting in industrial films and voice overs with. I figured, they were going to need someone who not only knew how to create an event but also would document and film the process for opening night. Those folks said YES! The next persons we had to get involved was a local couple with relations to a name actor. A name actor that was from the town was ideal. Offering the name actor an Honorable Chair position on the Festival was the couples’ idea and it went over swimmingly. Kate Mulgrew who plays “Red” on Orange is the New Black became our Honorable Chair and because she was from Dubuque, audiences came out in droves to welcome her back to their community. But, How do I Do This? In the custom of providing a step-by-step plan for actors who want to Make a Living Acting Anywhere, the two things under the one heading are enough to get started. Steps 1 and 2 Production Company Involvement email, call, or door knock local production companies in your area and find out if they would be interested in starting a film festival with you. Here are some clues as to what’s in it for them: a) Advertising and Marketing in their Provided Services, b) an enrapt audience watching their professional work and therefore opening the doors to much more work c) relationships with professional actors and voice artists who can make their work even better for their own clients! Name Actor (from your town or closeby) Involvement With Google and IMDB readily at your fingertips, this is probably the easiest step in the process. Go start searching. And, this is only if you don’t already know of someone who is an actor who was a member of your community. Most people know this! But, if you don’t, here are the search terms I’d use to get started: Actors from…. ________born actors “Which known actors are from_________” etc… I look forward to seeing what you put on! Please, leave a message, comment, subscribe, share and like for more. Have questions? Bring it on. Now, go break a leg or something! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/makealivingactinganywhere/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/makealivingactinganywhere/support

This week, two interviews we love: The first is with "Queen & Slim" star Daniel Kaluuya, and the second with "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood" writers Noah Harpster and Micah Fitzerman-Blue, as well as Tom Junod, whose Esquire profile of Mister Rogers is a major influence on the film.In "Queen & Slim," which is in theaters Wednesday, Nov. 27, Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith play a couple on a first date who are racially profiled on a traffic stop that quickly escalates into a national call for justice. He talks with us about how "Get Out" led him to "Queen & Slim," what made the role both relatable and unusual, how he's handling the Scorsese v. Marvel discussion, and why he's going from "Black Panther" to a film about real-life Black Panther activist Fred Hampton. In "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood," which is in theaters Friday, Nov. 22, Tom Hanks plays "Mister Rogers Neighborhood" host Fred Hampton, who tries to heal a troubled journalist named Lloyd Vogel (Matthew Rhys). Harpster, Fitzerman-Blue and Junod talk about how much of Vogel's life is based on Junod's. They also talk about what Mister Rogers wanted, how boys and girls are taught to deal with emotions, and a certain urban myth about Mister Rogers being a sniper or Navy SEAL. (To be 100 percent clear: He wasn't.)Thanks to the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, where we conducted both interviews. Katie Tibaldi is a writer, director and producer born and raised in Michigan. She also has the distinction of being childhood best friends with the host, April Wolfe! Between working on shows such as Broad City, Nurse Jackie and Damages, Katie's already worked on over 300 episodes of television. She’s currently producing the documentary feature Street Fighting Men, which will be distributed by First Run Features later this year. Her work on that made her a 2016 Sundance Institute Doc Fellow. She’s also Co-Producer on truTV's Emmy-Nominated comedy series, At Home With Amy Sedaris. She recently directed the independent half-hour comedy pilot, Ian Owes U, that had its world premiere at the New York Television Festival in July. She is also the writer, director and executive producer of Seeking Sublet, a comedy series with 9 full episodes debuting later this year. The series has been showcased by MovieMaker Magazine, Script Magazine, Tumblr and Funny or Die. The movie that Katie has chosen to discuss this week is the vampire mockumentary, What We Do in the Shadows. Katie and April discuss the improvisational style of the film and how it contrasts with that of Amy Sedaris on her show, At Home With Amy Sedaris. They also dissect the anatomy of comedy; how jokes can age badly, what makes a physical joke work, and grounding comedy in reality. Plus, they discuss vampire movies in general, and how even though something's been made a million time, it can be made unique by simply adding a personal touch. You can watch 'At Home with Amy Sedaris' on truTV in theaters now. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch What We Do in the Shadows. With April Wolfe and Katie Tibaldi. You can let us know what you think of Switchblade Sisters on Twitter or Facebook. Or email us at switchbladesisters@maximumfun.org. Produced by Casey O'Brien and Laura Swisher for MaximumFun.org.
On this week’s On Story we’ll hear from filmmaker Faraday Okoro, a two-time Austin Film Festival alumni and featured in Moviemaker Magazine’s Screenwriter to Watch List. His first feature film Nigerian Prince was produced for $1 million as part of AT&T’s Untold Stories initiative. And later, we’ll hear from author Christopher Vogler, whose landmark book The Writers Journey has helped countless screenwriters shape their scripts by using the writings of mythologist Joseph Campbell. 31-year-old writer/director Faraday Okoro is a rising talent. Okoro’s first two shorts, Full-Windsor and Blitz screened at several major film festivals including Austin Film Festival and internationally. Okoro’s new film Nigerian Prince premiered at the 2018 Tribecca Film Festival. The film is a coming of age, heist thriller that explores the hidden world of Nigerian email scammers. I recently spoke with Okoro about the learning process behind making his first feature and the thematic elements that tie his work together. Christopher Vogler is a veteran Hollywood story consultant and author who is best known for his landmark book The Writer’s Journey: Mythic Structure for Storytellers. Vogler’s book looked at the writings of mythologist Joseph Campbell and explored the universal narrative structures and character archetypes that all stories follow. As a story consultant for various studios, Vogler worked on The Lion King, Aladdin and Hercules, Fight Club, and The Wrestler. Professor Greg Garrett spoke with Christopher Vogler at the 24th Austin Film Festival in 2017.

If you’re sitting in a dark room with a cattle rancher, a fish biologist and an English professor, watching a sci-fi film shot on a $200,000 budget, chances are good you're at the Eastern Oregon Film Festival.Filmmakers come from all over the country to share their work, listen to Northwest bands, and learn to throw hatchets at artists' brunches — a combination that has landed it on the list of the world's coolest film fests in "MovieMaker Magazine" multiple times. The little fest is playing out for its eighth successive year in theaters and pop-up venues around La Grande, Oregon, and "State of Wonder" is broadcasting live this week from the festival headquarters. The Little Fest That Could: Christopher Jennings And Ian ClarkFrom the minute we arrived, festival co-founders Christopher Jennings and Ian Clark have been running around nonstop, greeting guests, trouble-shooting projectors, setting up bands, serving as walking answer boxes, and more. We get them to sit still long enough to talk about how the festival grew out of a film challenge and learn about how they manage to lure filmmakers from all over to a small town in the mountains of Northeast Oregon. A Man, A Woman, And A Talking Robot Head Walk Into A Desert ...The opening night film is a sumptuous sci-fi fable about a guy, a girl and a robot head hiking across a desert looking for a mythical lake. “Everything Beautiful Is Far Away,” starring Julia Garner and Joseph Cross, premiered this year at the LA Film Festival, where it won the U.S. Fiction Cinematography Award. It’s not hard to see why: filmed entirely in the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southeastern California, the characters wander through hills of white sand against a backdrop of blue sky with colors and lighting so soft and delicate that Garner’s porcelain skin simply glows. The pacing is patient, the dialogue spare, but the whole film is such a potent meditation that when the characters stare straight into the camera, we are more than happy to just lose ourselves in their eyes.We sit down with the writer and director Pete Ohs.The Do's And Don'ts Of Screenwriting With Jon RaymondJon Raymond will be the first to say that he accidentally stumbled into the world of screenwriting. He had just published his first novel in 2004 when a friend of his asked to adapt his short story “Old Joy” into a film. That friend was the director Kelly Reichardt, and that film started a working relationship that took them both into theaters across the world with the award-winning films “Wendy and Lucy,” “Meek’s Cutoff” and “Night Moves.” Raymond also co-wrote the teleplays for the five-part HBO series “Mildred Pierce” with his friend and Portland filmmaker Todd Haynes, which got him an Emmy nomination. He's at the fest for a talk about screenwriting, and we asked him to give us the Jon Raymond Golden Rules.Sara Salovaara And 'Let Me Die A Nun'Directed by Sara Salovaara, the six-part web series "Let Me Die A Nun" bills itself as "the opposing but intersecting trajectories of a lesbian soon-to-be nun, her Jewish stalker, and the object of her affection." We had to have Salovaara on to discuss this contemporary, comedic take on the 70s nunsploitation films (yeah, we didn't know that was a thing either). We also ask Salovaara, a regular writer for "MovieMaker Magazine," to help us understand just what sets the Eastern Oregon Film Fest apart from all the others.Zombie Puppets And Other Furry MonstersPortland filmmaker Jesse Blanchard claims "Frank & Zed" is the world's first puppet movie, which raises the question: How has this never been done before? Is there anything better than puppet-brain-eating puppet zombies? Or fire-breathing puppet monsters and bloody puppet limbs flying this way and that? Festival-goers are getting a first look at this work in progress, in which Blanchard and his Puppetcore Films team lovingly build every stitched eyeball, puppet skull and hurtling ax by hand. Could this be the next cult classic?
This week, the indie filmmakers behind Transformer, Don't Talk to Irene and Mr Fish: Cartooning From the Deep End discuss their journey from initial concept to ultimately producing and screening their award winning films in Austin Film Festival's film competition this past year. We begin the show with last year's powerful Documentary Feature Jury Award and Hiscox Insurance Audience Award winner (tied with Mr. Fish): Transformer. Written and directed by Michael Del Monte, the film follows former U.S Marine and world-record powerlifter, Matt “Kroc” Kroczaleski as he sets out to become a woman. Outed as being transgender and banned from competition Janae, attempts to find her place in society. Transformer world premiered at the Austin Film Festival in 2017. Film Competition Director, Harrison Glaser spoke with Del Monte and Janae at a special screening of the film hosted at the Alamo Drafthouse Village earlier this year. Next up, our 2017 Comedy Vanguard Feature Jury and Audience Award winner: Don't Talk to Irene. Written and directed by Pat Mills, Don't Talk to Irene is Mills' second feature. The film's script first won Austin Film Festival's Best Comedy Screenplay Competition in 2013 and follows, Irene - the fattest girl in high school – as she gets suspended, and endures two weeks of community service at a retirement home. Mills, sat down with me to discuss the film at a special screening hosted earlier this year at the Alamo Drafthouse Village. Additionally, the film director, screenwriter and actor was also named one of MovieMaker Magazine's 25 Screenwriters to Watch in 2018. Finally, we wrap the show with the other Documentary Feature Audience Award winner last year: Mr Fish: Cartooning From the Deep End (tied with Transformer). The film follows, adult themed editorial cartoonist, Mr. Fish as he navigates his often controversial profession during a time when the industry is on the way out. Directed by Pablo Bryant, the documentary reveals the struggles Mr. Fish endures to stay true to his creativity in a world where biting satiric humor has an ever-diminishing commercial value. Film Competition Director, Harrison Glaser spoke with Bryant, Mr. Fish and Diana Day at a special year round event screening of the film at the Alamo Drafthouse Village earlier this month.

Our key film this week is the documentary "Last Men in Aleppo" about the men of The White Helmets, the volunteer force in Syria who help the victims of the horrendous bombings of the ongoing Civil War. (41:40) We also review the Danish period drama "The Commune" directed by Thomas Vinterberg (check out Carlos's interview with Vinterberg for MovieMaker Magazine) (3:25); the 2003 teen comedy "Burning Annie" that's getting a HD re-release, directed by Van Flesher (11:05); the Polish period biopic "Afterimage" about the famous avant-garde painter Wladyslaw Strzeminski, directed by Andrzej Wajda (21:55); and the Venice-winning drama "The Woman Who Left" from the Philippines, directed by Lav Dias (31:00). Actress, @FreshOffABC Director, Producer of @Kittensinacage #TheList & @stuckfeature w @stoicentertain@producersguild @AWD_Directors@sagaftra @ActorsEquity STUCK has an Amazing Cast. Hilarious footage. Just a little support, and they'll have a MOVIE! HERE'S THE TRAILER: https://vimeo.com/192820837 www.stuckfeature.com ABOUT Dreams came true shooting this film! With female-director-badass Jillian Armenante, hilarious performances came to life from Heather Matarazzo, Amir Talai, Kate Flannery, Kirsten Vangsness, Joel McHale, and so many more. Like any great indie, we went through hell to get it on camera. Grip trucks broke down, neighbors threatened us, cops were called, extra days added... But in the end it was ALL worth it, because we got KILLER footage. Now we just need a little help to make it a movie... Writers Heather Turman and David Mickel were introduced through Newfilmmakers LA to award-winning director Jillian Armenante, and together the three of them joined forces to produce Stuck! Together, the three of them did something remarkable -- completed a successful Kickstarter campaign, were given a production grant from MovieMaker Magazine, got announced in a Deadline article ( http://deadline.com/2016/09/heather-matarazzo-n... ), and finished principle photography with a celebrity cast unheard of in a low budget indie. CAST Including Joel McHale, Kate Flannery, Kirsten Vangsness, Paul Scheer, Felicia Day, Constantine Maroulis, and Chris Redd. And of course, an absolutely stellar performance by actress Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries, Welcome to the Dollhouse, Saved), in the proper adult lead role her fans have been waiting for. (Here's a preview of our actors in action!) https://vimeo.com/189804428 But as all filmmakers know, shooting is only half the battle. The project we poured our hearts and talents into is in limbo, as we need to now pay for editing, color-correction, sound, music, titles, looping, reshoots, etcetera, etcetera... We've got a hilarious movie on our hands that exceeded all of our artistic expectations, but getting it done and seen by everyone requires more money, time and resources. FIND OUT MORE HERE! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/stuck-in-post-production-finishing-the-movie#/ www.stuckfeature.com DETAILS ABOUT THE TEAM Director Jillian Armenante Ms. Armenante has dedicated her artistic life to creating original stories and new works. With an unquenchable thirst for understanding the human condition, Jenna spent part of her senior year of high school in Thailand and her first year of college in Japan on exchange programs. But, Jenna’s passion for acting and hosting couldn’t be ignored and in 2000, she moved with her now fiancé to Burbank, CA where she appeared in UNSOLVED MYSTERIES, BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE along with several independent films. Growing up “in the business”, Jenna knew that it was not all glitz and glamour, in fact, she knew the glamour only came after lots of hard work. Knowing that in order to be better at her chosen profession, she needed to understand what others did in the business so she took jobs with agents, managers, casting directors and did various on-set crew work. Then in 2008 Jenna found herself with the opportunity to start producing. She produced several short films then moved on to her first feature, the award winning film, APRIL SHOWERS. Building on the success of April Showers, Jenna produced the first narrative feature film to premiere exclusively on Hulu. Jenna helped create and was a host on the Movie Maker Magazine top ranked podcast, FILM METHOD and wrote an advice column for Film Method for 2 years. Along with producing, hosting the Film Method podcast and writing the Film Method Mailbag advice column, Jenna has done private consulting on many independent projects and coached many filmmakers and actors throughout her 12 years in Los Angeles.
