One last episode of the Unnamed Automotive Podcast to enjoy before the new year! This time Sami and Benjamin take a look at the hybrid, all-wheel-drive sedans in the Toyota lineup, starting with Sami's review of the 2025 Toyota Camry XSE AWD. Now exclusively available as a hybrid, this Camry has a whole new look and powertrain, but how does it compare to the Honda Accord Hybrid the guys talked about last week? And why does Sami feel a strange tapping in his back every time he stops? Then Benjamin brings up the smaller, more affordable 2025 Toyota Corolla Hybrid AWD, which delivers solid fuel efficiency, but is lacking other positive distinguishing factors, especially compared to other options in this segment. He also chimes in with some impressions about the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox EV. Finally the guys answer some listener questions about Chinese automakers taking over certain markets. Thanks for listening everyone, we'll see you in the new year!

The 2025 Toyota Camry Hybrid is all that flash, but after testing it this week, we think consumers will really respond to its combination of versatility, fun-to-drive, and incredible fuel economy. The Environmental Protection Agency says it has a range of more than 600 miles on a tankful of gas. At the same time, Host Jack Nerad found it delivered excellent performance with more brio than you might expect. With a fresh design and a shift to hybrid-only powertrains, it now offers two hybrid configurations: front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. We tested the 225-horsepower front-drive version and found that its acceleration more than met expectations. There's just something about electric motors' instant torque. Nerad will have a full report. More than 2,000 miles away, Co-Host Chris Teague was putting the battery-electric Volvo C40 Recharge through his test regimen. There is something perfect about the combination of fall colors, the Atlantic Coast, and the Volvo C40 recharge, and Teague will give us his conclusions. In the news this week, with somewhat curious timing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally opened an official investigation into Tesla and its Full Self-Driving software after years of studying the issue. Hmmm. What has changed? At the same time, Dodge assures us that the Hemi-V8 isn't dead yet. Despite its recent troubles, it has just proven this by introducing an all-new Durango SRT special edition. We'll have the details. Sorry, potential car buyers — the prime interest rate is down, but car affordability remains a big challenge, according to a just-released report from Cox Automotive/Moody's Analytics. We'll have more on that coming up. Kia has just introduced a new accessory made from ocean waste. We'll tell you more about that very appealing new product and share our thoughts. This week, our special guest is our very own Co-Host, Chris Teague. He'll tell us about his recent experience with his new Honda Prologue battery-electric SUV and the home charging system he recently had installed. If you are considering purchasing an EV, listen up for that segment. So we have a lot of show for you this week. Thanks for joining us, and don't forget to look for new content on our YouTube and Rumble channels. Please subscribe. If you do we'll like you forever. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid Reminds Us Why We Love Cars

The 2023 Toyota Camry isn't a performance car. It doesn't offer sizzling acceleration or knife-edge handling. In fact, it is exactly what we used to describe as a family car. But as Co-Host Chris Teague found when he drove the Camry for a week in and around Washington, D.C., the current Camry reminds all of us why we enjoy driving. Admittedly, it doesn't offer the versatility of the ubiquitous crossover SUV, but it does offer a connection to the road that few crossovers can match. The Camry hybrid's 208 total horsepower certainly won't blow anyone away. There are scores of cars that offer more. But that doesn't factor in the almost instant torque available from its electric motor. Not only does it provide a quick boost of acceleration, but it also smooths out shifts so the Camry Hybrid provides a driving experience that nearly simulates an EV. While Chris Teague was testing the 2023 Toyota Camry, Host Jack Nerad and the entire Nerad family were spending their summer vacation testing the mettle of the 2023 Toyota Sienna minivan. Every Sienna is equipped with a hybrid powertrain offering 245 combined horsepower, and it has all the benefits just described in relation to the Camry hybrid. The Sienna proved itself to be a substantial vehicle that can transport as many as eight passengers, and the Nerads found it a perfect vehicle for their sojourn at a northeast Texas lake house. Whether traveling the potholed roads of rural Texas or the most pristine Interstate pavement, the Sienna offered excellent ride quality, more-than-acceptable acceleration, and surprisingly good handling. We'll tell you more about both Toyota “vacation cars” in this episode. In the news this week, just as the auto industry is recovering from COVID-19 and parts shortages, a big strike looms that could derail all the progress. And nearly 100 all-new electric vehicle models are set to come to market in the next three years. But there's only one problem, and we'll tell you what that is in this episode. We'll take a long look at the electric vehicle market and the government's plans going forward. Are the expectations realistic? Meanwhile, Tesla has rolled out a new incentive plan that could earn buyers some extra money. We'll have more info on that. Right now many folks want to know if this is a good time to buy a new or used car? Or should you wait? We have a great guest who has the answer to that question. Sam Fiorani is Vice President of Global Vehicle Forecasting at Auto Forecast Solutions. At the halfway point in the year, he and Host Jack Nerad are going to take a look at the industry to see if it's a propitious time to jump into the car market All that and more are coming up in this episode. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, YourTestDriver.com, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The latest generation Toyota Camry made its debut back in 2017. While the latest generation of Camry is likely getting near the end of its life, this current Camry could be the most interesting of the modern era. Sure, it's not as fun as the rear-drive Camry sedans of yore, but it does live up to the edict set by Akio Toyoda of “no more boring cars.” Blending wild styling with a potent V6 does make the Camry a relatively fun machine that can handle your daily grind. Though, if you want to skip the horsepower and focus on efficiency, Toyota has made the Camry Hybrid available across the trim lines. That means you can nab a high-trim Camry XSE. Powering this Camry is Toyota's 2.5-liter Atkinson that's mated to a CVT, with an electric motor helping the system along. Combined, the system is good for 208 hp. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of Toyota's latest Camry Hybrid and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the Toyota and highlights its exterior styling and interior features. Wren also takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to the show, Wren chats with Patrick Carone about the Toyota Camry, the hybrid powertrain and how it feels in daily use. Closing the show the pair break down what makes the Toyota Camry Hybrid special.

Auto - Rund ums Auto.
