She provides some incredible tips on how to set yourself up so you are knowledgeable about your finances as well as planning for the next steps. Leah provides a full list of items in this episode for you to collect throughout the divorce to be successful. Tune in today so you can be prepared!  In this episode: [2:04] What led Leah to help people through finances and divorce? [7:52] What things should people prepare before a divorce? [11:04] Is there ever a negative implication for running your credit report? [12:10] How to get the education to be knowledgeable during the divorce process. [16:03] What questions do you need to ask yourself when splitting up assets to ensure that you have financial security? [20:13] What to look at and how to set yourself up for success post divorce.  Key Takeaways:  Divorce provides you with an opportunity to determine your own values. Many times we negotiate our values or lose sight of them while in a marriage, so this is a time to reclaim your life. Many people find themselves in a way after divorce that is truly beautiful. Understanding the current financial situation is essential when going into a divorce. Being aware of what the budget is, what your fixed expenses are, and where there is financial liquidity will lead to coming out on the other side in a better situation. Things will likely shift post divorce as far as expenses and the luxuries that you are able to have. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, as you may end up realizing that you feel better in a different home or with a different vehicle. Less financial stress leads to a more peaceful life and home.  Quotes:  “If you're stressed, you're financially strapped to try to stay in this home, that just creates a lot more angst around the whole financial situation, and it just gets worse. It doesn't get easier, it compounds if you're already in a tight financial situation.” - Leah Hadley  “When you get to reclaim your life in this next chapter, you get to decide what am I going to prioritize, what are my values?” - Leah Hadley Guest Bio:  As the Founder/CEO of Great Lakes Divorce Financial Solutions and Great Lakes Investment Management, Leah strives to help clients secure their financial independence through a strategic financial planning process.  Leah is a sought-after speaker on overcoming financial setbacks, avoiding financial mistakes in divorce, and overcoming financial abuse. This week on the NTWJ pod, we explore brand-building + songwriting – celebrating "Complicated Kids" + creativity for all. Full of funny throwback memories of where it all began, at an impromptu summer backyard party + puppet show debuting an original Other Brown Girl Ukulele “Island” song that I co-wrote with multi-talented JESSE FRIEBERG (a.k.a. JESSE JUKEBOX) + Disney singer-songwriter Maria Christensen over Zoom. (Oh, did I mention Maria also writes for Jennifer Lopez + Celine Dione? How lucky am I to have such musical, magical friends?!) JESSE FRIEBERG (a.k.a. JESSE JUKEBOX) is a musician, songwriter, recording artist, performer for kids. He's on a mission to inspire children and their parents to be creative, compassionate, free-thinking, and a little bit smarter than he is (which is pretty darn smart). Based out of Cleveland, Ohio, Jesse accomplishes his mission by writing and recording original children's music. He puts on amusing, thrilling, and interactive live shows that entertain children and grown-ups alike. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, instead of mastering the art of Jazz and shredding guitars, Jesse dedicated his time to writing, recording, and performing fun and catchy children's music for families. Jesse has released 3 albums and has a new album coming out called “Just A Minute” that will be released in Spring of 2022 with album artwork by Lindsey Bryan. In 2021, Jesse accepted his invitation to join the Recording Academy. Jesse's passion for working with children led him to receive his Masters in Early Childhood Education from Ursuline College in 2015. He applies the skills he learned to give high-energy, interactive, early childhood music classes that the whole family gets into. Jesse is driven by Rock and Roll, The Blues, Batman, Electric guitars, Silliness, Funky Bass Lines, Pizza, Corny jokes, Loud Drums, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Banjos, Outer Space, and all things awesome. www.otherbrowngirl.com/blog/obg-in-the-cle-theme-song www.jessejukebox.com www.facebook.com/Jessejukebox Instagram: @jessejukeboxmusic Twitter: @jjkidsongs

BA Crisp was raised by her loving grandfather as a young child. He had been a electrical engineering subcontractor for the largest nuclear reactor testing site on the planet. Crisp inherited his curiosity for electricity, science fiction and the supernatural from her grandfather. She was removed from her grandfather's care by the county authorities, by the age of six. The authorities mistakenly considered his cigars, scotch and philosophy as too inappropriate for child rearing. BA Crisp would grow up as a ward of the court and become a foster child. Reading books and keeping journals as a form of escape. Until her “father” was awarded sole custody of his child. During the late 1970’s, they moved to a remote Ohio farm. As time passed new DNA tests revealed that the man she always thought of as her ‘dad’, was clearly not. Once again BA Crisp was thrust back into the juvenile court system. She was also labeled as unruly. Social workers discovered she had been a victim of human trafficking (back then it was still considered willful participation). It is little wonder that she graduated from high school with a low C average. Crisp spent the next few years floundering her way through a series of misaligned relationships, bars and bad decisions. Until one evening a former friend of her grandfather's ended up paying a visit to a strip club, where she had been working as a dancer. With his guidance and support, she applied to Ursuline College and also graduated Summa cum Laude. BA Crisp got her master’s degree from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management as co-valedictorian. She studied at London School of Journalism before heading to Exeter College at Oxford University. Where she matriculated from the International Summer Students’ Writing Program. Crisp also worked as a Psychiatric Assessment Specialist for a large Cleveland based hospital in its mental health facility. The facility primarily dealt with the ‘criminally insane.’ Yet she also had a gift for working with troubled adolescents. BA Crisp eventually built a career as a governmental consultant and as an anti-human trafficking advocate.   BA's links Web: http://bacrisp.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bacrispauthor/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ba_crispwrites   And don’t forget to support the podcast by subscribing for free, reviewing, and sharing.   New Livestream https://youtube.com/erichunley    Web: https://unstructuredpod.com/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/unstructuredp  Facebook: https://facebook.com/unstructuredp  Instagram: https://instagram.com/unstructuredp    Join the Facebook group: fb.com/groups/unstructured

Preaching for the Twenty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time, Gina Messina offers a reflection on what it means to be "all in" as a disciple of Jesus: "When Jesus says..that we need to be 'all in,' what does this mean? First, I think we need to be honest with ourselves and acknowledge that being 'all in' is rare - it is challenging and a great risk that many of us are not willing to take. That said, what we can do is wake up every morning and acknowledge our position in the world, our abilities to contribute to positive social change, and do our best to make that happen. We are not always going to be successful; but it is our intention that matters." Gina Messina is a feminist scholar, Catholic theologian, and activist. White born-again or evangelical Christians and white Catholics strongly supported Donald Trump for president. To what extent does this vote represent Christian values? What would happen if Jesus were in the White House? What would be our priorities as a nation if the values of the historical Jesus guided our budget and our actions and ethics? Ursuline College Professor, Gina Messina, asks these questions and talks with host John Shuck about her book, Jesus in the White House: Make Humanity Great Again. Gina Messina is Associate Professor of Religion and Gender Studies at Ursuline College and Co-founder of Feminism and Religion. Gina is the author or editor of five books including Rape Culture and Spiritual Violence, co-editor (with Rosemary Radford Ruether) of Feminism and Religion in the 21st Century, and Co-editor Faithfully Feminist: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim Feminists on Why We Stay.
