Manganese X Energy Corp CEO Martin Kepman joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news The company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with C4V, a prominent US battery technology leader, which holds immense promise for a potential offtake agreement from Manganese X Energy Corp's Battery Hill High Purity Manganese project located in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. C4V, renowned for its leadership in renewable battery technology and its involvement in major Gigafactory developments worldwide, including those in Geelong, Australia, and the United States, has shown keen interest in the collaboration. This non-binding agreement is predicated on the possible supply of Electric Vehicle (EV) compliant High Purity Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate, a sample of which is currently undergoing pre-qualification by C4V for use in their Gigafactory joint ventures. The sample in question was produced as part of Manganese X Energy Corp's Pilot Plant Project, which employs their patent-pending, groundbreaking manganese purification technology. This technology enables the transformation of Battery Hill manganese carbonate into Electric Vehicle compliant High Purity Manganese Sulfate Monohydrate (HPMSM), serving as a precursor to the cathode in battery manufacturing. This strategic partnership holds the promise of playing a pivotal role in the supply chain for EV batteries, as high-purity manganese is a crucial component in the production of advanced batteries. The MOU represents a significant step forward in the company's quest to contribute to the growing electric vehicle industry while further solidifying its position as a key player in the renewable energy sector. The collaboration between Manganese X Energy Corp and C4V exemplifies their shared commitment to sustainable energy solutions and highlights the importance of securing a stable supply of critical materials for the EV revolution. Small modular nuclear reactors have long been utilised by the US Defence Department in aircraft carriers and submarines. Now, a consortium led by South African venture capitalist André Pienaar aims to introduce mini nuclear reactors to South Africa. In an interview with Biznews, Pienaar, the Founder and CEO of C5 Capital, elaborated on plans to bring this technology to the Western Cape. His initial focus is on supplying energy to data centres in the province. Using analogies from television and film, Pienaar envisions transforming the nuclear energy sector in South Africa from the large and hazardous depictions in The Simpsons to the compact, modular reactors used by Tony Stark in Iron Man for clean energy provision. South Africa, he said, possesses a robust nuclear ecosystem and a well-established regulatory framework for nuclear energy. Pienaar revealed that numerous South African nuclear engineers, some with prior experience at Eskom, have relocated to the United States under the same visa that facilitated Einstein's immigration. These engineers now contribute to X-Energy, a company in which C5 holds a significant stake. The plan to introduce mini reactors to South Africa is still in its early stages, he said. The first milestone, a feasibility study, has been completed. The next step for the consortium will be to finalise the financing model and seek regulatory and permitting approvals. Pienaar believes that bringing mini nuclear reactors for power generation to South Africa is a compelling proposition. “This is South Africa's opportunity to lose because several other countries are moving forward with similar projects,” he said.
This week, we speak with J. Clay Sell, CEO of X-energy, which announced a $1.18 billion combination with Ares Acquisition Corporation in December 2022. Wind and solar have each seen big booms in adoption in the 21st century due to a mix of technology and incentives aligning at the same time. Could it once again be nuclear power's turn? Clay tells us how innovative smaller-reactor designs can carve out a new place in the energy mix for utilities and industrial clients alike. And, how X-energy's focus on proprietary nuclear fuel has brought a new business model to the space.
What's been happening? It has certainly been a busy week for the nuclear sector! There has been a host of positive news on the SMR front, the usual barrage of good policy news that we are growing accustomed to - and even some intrigue amongst uranium juniors.Brandon's stand-out SMR news (amongst a very full competitive field) was the Joint Development agreement between US utility Energy Northwest and X-Energy for up to 12 Xe-100 SMRs. This is an upgrade from the April 2021 announcement of 4 Xe-100 modules at Energy Northwest's Columbia NPP site. The first SMR is expected online by 2030. The IEA released its 2023 Electricity Market ReportWe have talked many times about the impact of power volatility on consumers. Now the IEA is bragging about it! Uranium Energy Corp (UEC) announced it has completed the steps required in their plan for a resumption of operations, enabling a faster restart at the Christensen Ranch in-situ recovery (ISR) Project in Wyoming.Unfortunately for Peninsula Energy, UEC's Christensen Ranch project need to free up that faster production from UEC's Irigaray processing plant, which had been a vital part of Peninsula's stage 1 restart of its Lance project. Peninsula announced a day later that it has delayed production at their Lance Projects in Wyoming because UEC has terminated their Resin processing agreement. Peninsula described the news as “disappointing” but is highlighting the silver lining – ie accelerating plans for in-house resin processing by going directly to stage 2 of the Lance restart.Winner of the week Poland, for getting on with the job of developing nuclear power to replace its coal fired power base. Jeremy Osterberger interviews Heather Lyons, Site Director for Seadrift Operations at Dow, to learn about their partnership with X-energy and the groundbreaking small modular reactor project aimed at providing safe, reliable, and zero carbon emissions power to the Seadrift site. Discover how this aligns with Dow's Decarbonize & Grow strategy and the impact of the project on future asset replacements.
60 years ago, nuclear energy was touted as a power source that would deliver electricity at prices “too cheap to meter.” Experience with large-scale nuclear generation to date has shown that large commercial nuclear power plants do not produce electricity cheaply; however, the new imperative to reduce carbon dioxide emissions has given nuclear new incentive to develop. New, fourth-generation reactors are significantly safer, and cheaper to build and operate when compared to current designs. The new reactors are smaller, and their operating economics open the possibility for private power users to adopt the technology for industrial use, producing electricity and process heat. Dow and X-energy Reactor Company recently announced that the company will deploy one of X-energy's small modular reactors at Dow's Gulf Coast chemical plant complex. The reactor will provide electric power and process heat for steam. If successful, the initiative will not only reduced Dow's carbon footprint, but also set the stage for widespread commercial cogeneration outside of power utilities. * * * Want to watch this podcast as a video? AfriForum, the vocal Afrikaner civil rights organisation, wants to deploy pebble-bed modular nuclear reactors (PBMRs) in South African communities to help solve the country's crippling energy woes. But why PBMRs? And how will the project work exactly? It might seem strange for a non-governmental organisation like AfriForum to want to involve itself in electricity generation, but the move makes perfect sense, argues Johan Kruger, its head of community independence. This is especially so as the state is failing to provide basic services like electricity, necessitating the involvement of private capital. Kruger joined TechCentral editor Duncan McLeod on the TechCentral Studio (TCS) – previously, TC|Daily – to discuss AfriForum's plans. (Watch or listen to the interview below.) In the show, Kruger unpacks how AfriForum wants to help homeowners and businesses extricate themselves from the Eskom mess by deploying their own power generation systems, including rooftop solar. In the longer term, the organisation hopes to work with the private sector to reduce or entirely eliminate communities' dependence on the state for electricity supply. Kruger explains that the government's inability to provide not only electricity reliably, but also water and other basic services, means that many of these will be offered in future by the private sector or by communities themselves working with private entities. Rapport and City Press reported on 22 January that AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel was engaging with André Pienaar, a South African businessman and founder and CEO of C5 Capital – a venture capital firm that invests in companies focused on space, cybersecurity and nuclear energy – about deploying PBMRs in South Africa. C5 Capital is an investor in X-Energy, a US company whose staff includes senior South African nuclear scientists. X-energy is taking forward some of the pioneering work into PBMRs that was done on South African soil before government withdrew its funding for the project in 2010. In this episode of TCS, Kruger unpacks the South African origin of the PBMR technology and what an AfriForum-supported deployment of modular reactors into communities might look like. South Africa had spent around R10bn developing the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor before abandoning the nuclear project when Jacob Zuma became President. He had a much bigger nuclear ambition cooked up with Russia's Vladimir Putin. Now, however, Andre Pienaar, a pioneering Afrikaner venture capitalist who lives his life between Washington and London has a surprise in store. He is invested in a US company that has a contract to build what will be a new space station on the hulk of the existing International Space Station (ISS) that has been orbiting earth for the last 23 years. He is also invested in another US company racing to win a competition to build the first Small Modular Reactor in Washington State in the US. X-Energy's product is a direct descendent of the PMBR and a clutch of the scientists working on it are South African. Or were. And whether X-Energy wins the Washington contract or not, Pienaar, whose roots in South Africa still run deep — he was instrumental in the establishment of the corruption-busting Scorpions — is going to put an X-energy PMBR onto his own space station. “Its happening," he tells Peter Bruce in this compelling edition of Podcasts From The Edge. Pienaar is convinced that a new generation of small, even portable, nuclear reactors is a large part of the answer to the scramble for a carbon-free future. Governments around the word are curious. The British have given Rolls Royce more than £200m to develop a small nuclear reactor because, well, if you can run a submarine or an aircraft carrier on a nuclear reactor, how cool would it be to run a small town, or a large city, on one? In a few years' time we'll be able to see the new, expanded, ISS passing us by in the night sky. If its very bright it might be because of the pebble bed reactor inside it.

If there is one solution to climate change that I would say needs the most further research it would be carbon capture. We need to put some energy into this in order to determine exactly how much carbon capture we should be using and how we should be using it, whether it be eliminating emissions from natural gas or pulling carbon dioxide straight out of the air. There is a wide variety of opinions on all of these pieces, so to get a better idea of exactly what carbon capture is and what it does, I talked to Greg Kist, the co-founder of Blue X Energy. His company Blue X Energy is focussing on finding the best places to store carbon dioxide once we capture it, but he gave me a great rundown on the basics of carbon capture and why it could be the one thing that we need to get to carbon neutrality by 2050. Maybe with carbon capture we can continue to use a fossil fuel like natural gas, or through reforming natural gas into hydrogen and capturing the leftover CO2, the market for hydrogen will boom. Carbon capture in the ways that it's being talked about today is fairly new, and absolutely fascinating to talk about. We stay away from divisive politics and meaningless numbers with no context, and instead I interview climate action leaders implementing revolutionary ideas that are helping to reduce our impact on the world around us. Listen to this podcast to learn, be inspired, and find new ideas to look into even more. If you are interested in getting involved, please use any of the contacts or social media listed below, and look into the links below as well for actionable things you can do right now.Who am I?My name is Avry Krywolt, I am a student from Alberta Canada, I am passionate about taking action against climate change, and I am the host of Innovating a Bright Future. I've noticed through my own experience that the number of people concerned about climate change is growing quickly. At the same time, the information being presented to the public is, in most cases, a sad sigh of defeat, irrational denialism, or frantic screaming that does no one any good. The fact is that climate change is happening, but it is not hopeless, and you are not powerless. TED speaker and climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe said that “The most important thing you can for climate change is talk about it.” so let's talk about it. Let's learn about solar energy and battery storage, let's dig into green hydrogen, and wind, and the power of water, and the importance of sustainable energy. Let's learn and let's discuss. We aren't doomed, but we have to work hard in order to keep climate change from wreaking real havoc on our world. So let's get to work.Find more information about me and the show at our website - innovatingabrightfuture.comGet involved:Become a member of the Alberta Youth Leaders for Environmental EducationTake a step in the right direction with Count Us InLearn more about climate change + climate action with TED CountdownSocialsInstagram - https://instagram.com/innovatingabrightfuture?igshid=tq6tfg2l0s7Twitter - Twitter.com/ainnovatingSupport the ShowPatreon - patreon.com/innovatingabrightfutureBuy sustainable clothing from TenTreeMusic:Tech Talk by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4464-tech-talk License: https://filmmusic.io/standard-license

X-Energy is the lead recipient for one of two industry groups selected to receive $80 M in Department of Energy (DOE) funding as part of a public-private partnership program to demonstrate advanced nuclear power plants on an aggressive time table. Its primary partner in the endeavor is Energy Northwest, which currently owns and operates the Columbia Generating Station in eastern Washington. Energy Northwest will be the owner and operator of the demonstration power station, which will consist of a four-unit installation of X-Energy's Xe-100 high temperature gas cooled reactor. Each unit is designed to produce 80 MWe, resulting in a power station output of 320 MWe. Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program The award is part of the Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, which also includes two additional development pathways with longer horizons. The $80 M in FY 2021 funds is a down payment that will provide funds for completing detailed design work and beginning the licensing process. Future appropriations will be required to complete the projects; the funding opportunity announcement for the program included an award ceiling of $4 B to be shared among three different development pathways. For Atomic Show #287, I spoke with Darren Gale, X-Energy's Vice President for Commercial Operations. Darren is the company executive with direct responsibility for executing the company's contract with the Department of Energy and delivering on the promise to design, license and construct an advanced nuclear reactor power plant. The ADRP has an aggressive target date for beginning to deliver electricity to the grid is the end of 2027. During our conversation, Darren explained how his company is positioned to deliver on its promise. Xe-100 Design history We spoke about how X-Energy has been working on its high temperature pebble bed reactor design for more than a decade. X-Energy was founded in 2009 by Kam Ghaffarian, a successful entrepreneur who founded Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT) in 1984. Dr. Ghaffarian remains the owner of X-Energy, but is being joined by additional investors. The design is mature and the company has been engaging with the NRC for several years. It expects to be able to submit a license application within the next year or two; part of the uncertainty includes determining the most appropriate and streamlined licensing pathway. The Xe-100 is a helium-cooled, high temperature pebble bed reactor that has a number of similarities to the Chinese HTR-PM. They share a common heritage tracing back through the South African HTGR program and to the German AVR demonstration reactor. As Darren explains, the Xe-100 includes a number of refinements in its fuel design and in its fuel handling system that enable more efficient fuel use. Another design difference is that each Xe-100 reactor/steam generator modules are connected to its own Rankine cycle steam turbine. In the HTR-PM design, two reactor/steam generator modules feed a single larger turbine. The 80 MWe power output selection was influenced, in part, by the availability of off-the-shelf steam turbine power plants. Unlike light water reactors, the Xe-100 will produce steam at temperatures (565 ℃) and pressures (16.5 MPa) used in modern supercritical steam systems. Like the HTR-PM, Xe-100 reactors are continuously fueled while operating, eliminating the need to schedule refueling outages. There will still be a need to periodically shut down the reactor for inspections and steam turbine maintenance. X-Energy expects that there will be more requirements during the early years of operation while the company and the regulator gain experience and understanding of operational effects. Eventually, though, the company expects to achieve somewhat higher than average availability than conventional reactors that require unavoidable outages for refueling. Project location The project will be built in eastern Washington...

Bo Boss - Tequila DJ Edit By Mr Turner 3 DL >> https://hypeddit.com/track/sc/cpsgya The entry of synthesizers and other electronic effects into the disco genre produced electronic dance music, including America's Hi-NRG and Europe's space disco. Italo disco's influences include Italian producer Giorgio Moroder, French musician Didier Marouani, a couple of hits by the French drummer Cerrone, electronic and synth-pop acts such as Kraftwerk, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Telex, Devo and Gary Numan, and the early Hi-NRG albums of San Francisco producer Patrick Cowley with such singers as Sylvester and Paul Parker. Although disco music was generally reviled and shunned in the English-speaking world during the 1980s, dance music was still popular in Europe. Italian disco DJs' desire for new music was frustrated because new songs were imports and therefore too expensive. So Italian producers and musicians filled the void with their own new music. As with all musical styles, Italo disco incorporated different subgenres, overlapped with other styles, and evolved rather than appearing and disappearing, so there are conflicting points of view on what the "first" Italo disco record was and when the genre began. What can be said is that disco music was being produced by Italian producers since at least 1977. Italo disco often featured electronic sounds, drum machines, catchy melodies, vocoders, overdubs, and heavily accented English lyrics. By 1983, Italo disco's instrumentation was predominantly electronic. Along with love, Italo disco themes deal with robots and space, sometimes combining all three in songs like "Robot Is Systematic" (1982) by 'Lectric Workers and "Spacer Woman" (1983) by Charlie. 1982 And 1983 saw the release of three tracks cited as influential in the development of Chicago's house music: the irony-laden "Dirty Talk", "Wonderful" and "The M.B.O. Theme", all by Klein + M.B.O., a side-project developed by Davide Piatto of the Italo disco duo N.O.I.A., with vocals by Piatto and Rossana Casale. Other Italo disco imports to the United States, such as "Feel the Drive" by Doctor's Cat, influenced house music. Although the genre was successful in Europe during the 1980s, it was never particularly successful in the United Kingdom, although several Italo disco songs did become hits there. Nonetheless, several British electronic acts such as the Pet Shop Boys, Erasure and New Order are said to have been influenced by the genre. In 1983, there were frequent hit singles and labels such as American Disco, Crash, Merak, Sensation and X-Energy appeared. The popular label Disco Magic released more than thirty singles within the year. It was also the year that the term "Italo disco" became widely known outside of Italy, with the release of the first volumes of The Best of Italo Disco compilation series on the German record label ZYX. After 1983, Italo disco was also produced outside of Italy.
