Rick and Morty is iconic for it's interconnected storytelling, mix of wacky adventures, often hilarious yet interesting philosophical exploration into the meaning of existence and the abundant parody of pop-culture medium. Unfortunately, since season 4 many viewers has been seeing the show getting more repetitive and worse. Is Rick and Morty's glory days behind us? Join us in our casual 'not so deep' discussion of Rick and Morty! We also react to Netflix's cyberpunk: Edge runners series and why you should watch it. The new anime, based off of the controversial video game with the same title has not only surprised us with the quality of the animation but the immense world in which it presents. The new Dragon ball Super: Superhero film is also amazing with a little Easter egg on Goku vs Superman. The transition from 2D to 3D may not sound like an appealing decision, but give it a shot... It's actually not too bad. Also please do mind our audio quality this week, we ran into a few audio issues. We start with the bad and end with the good! Not to say that the Marvel movie was all bad but in this episode we challenge your perspective on the movie given that you guys loved it like every other Marvel fan that has fell in love with Marvel's successful formula. It's tricky when fans are introduced to the idea of being able to enter different universes and realities because then a question may come to linger at the back of their head like it did ours, does anything matter? K.dot, the kid from Compton, Kendrick is finally back after a 5 year hiatus. We debate if he is one of the greatest rappers, he's always given his listeners insight into the reality of his day to day life growing up in Compton. He addresses social issues like racism, gang violence and generational trauma in his music yet each album has it's own unique sound and conveys these messages through his verses which contain many layers of meaning. From the few visuals we go to see alone, surely Dwyane Johnson's production company took notes from Zack Snyder, who was at the helm of the DCEU's birth in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Hawkeye and Dr Fate are awesome and visually striking in that regard in particular. What does Black Adam mean for the tone of the DCEU? The Century is 22 and our episode number is 22, featuring 2 of the usual 4 hosts! A rather laid-back episode, so take it easy with the boys on this one!In this episode, John and Paolo cover the recent endeavours of Pop Culture icons Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott, the Kardashians in general and the excellency of modern hip hop leaders. They then move into usual Aftermath Podcast film theorycrafting and analysis. Thought Kylie and Travis were still together? They've got a new kid on the way though right? What's going on? John has all the answers as Paolo asks the hard questions. The conversation then takes a rather insightful turn, we ask the question if Kim Kardashian devised the ultimate modern celebrity blueprint. Is part of that blueprint to deliver an actual product, or to deliver an aesthetic or vibe? Or are those two things part of one essential package the modern entertainment sphere demands? Perhaps Kanye knows… because one thing's for sure “Black Skinhead” went hard and changed the game. One game yet to change is America's juridical system that favours one of the parents during a split, if anyone's seen Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story, you'll know about this. It's one of the reasons we couldn't find ourselves supporting Kim alongside Kanye during the split, we even tried watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians to see if we could understand! In the end, the children suffer a lot from these splits, as if modern teens didn't have enough problems of their own. A viewing of HBO MAX and BINGE's Euphoria delivers that message in a surreal yet vivid way. What have you been watching? Do these issues cross your mind? This is the episode where we explore the trepidations taken by international entertainment enabling it to reach the masses through the shared cue of curiosity. A majority of our Episode focuses on the Sub vs Dub drama that has plagued Anime fans, but now has reached the nuanced level of the Oscars, with Hollywood films actively not looking to translate foreign languages to English subtitles. We debate not just the basis of our pros and cons to this change in attitude towards filmmaking, but the impact it has on a film from an audience perspective. Ok, Ok, Ok hear us out the highly controversial Emily In Paris, which sees Lily Collins attempt to assimilate her American culture with Parisian culture is an entertaining topic to debate from a cultural perspective. It's better to hit the play on this episode to understand both sides of this guilty pleasure of a show. Are you looking to lean out this year? Put on some pounds of solid testosterone-fueled muscle? It's the most wonderful time of the year, we are as hyped for Christmas as the world is for Spiderman! Our gift to you is episode 16, this episode has a blend of our favourite Christmas moments and the Naruto Franchise's best fights and most iconic moments. We show you what Christmas parties in our twenties look like and what has changed. So much going on around the world but we still manage to come back to the foundation of the Aftermath group… Anime. This episode did not get heated like a Hashirama vs Madara fight, it seems we all somewhat respectfully agreed with each other's perspective on Naruto and Naruto Shippuden's direction but that did not stop us from roasting each other this whole time. To measure its success we had to compare it to newer anime that has released like Demon Slayer and My hero Academia. What made Naruto fights so great?Of course, we had to have an updated discussion on the Marvel cinematic universe and it's series streamed on Disney Plus like Hawkeye and that American Winter Soldier thingo, you can say we have many mixed emotions about it all, at this rate we'll never get sponsorship from Disney. But that is okay! with Boruto climbing up on people's favourite anime to watch, we felt it was appropriate to reflect on Naruto and our teen years watching anime. Anime flash back after anime flash back we promise that this is not a filler episode. Come celebrate Christmas with us or celebrate the end of the year, we're going to continue to pump out funny and engaging content in 2022, Believe it!
