"The whole idea of distribution," explained Julia Reichert, "was to help the women's movement grow. Films could do that, they could get the ideas out. We could watch the women's movement spread across the country just by who was ordering our films. First it was Cambridge and Berkeley. I remember the first showing in the deep South."Soon, a fourth member joined the three: "When I first met them," Liane Brandon explains, "I'd been inundated with requests to show Anything You Want To Be. I'd been running back and forth to the Post Office, making myself crazy. Other distributors wanted my film, but the most they would offer was a two-year contract, as they were sure the women's movement wouldn't last any longer than that. Because I'd been active in women's groups since 1969, I knew there was a huge demand, but most distributors didn't, so they offered bad deals, or they wanted to ghettoize the films. When I first talked with Jim and Julia and Amalie, I thought 'Ah-hah! Mel sits down with cancer survivor Sherri Romanoski creator of BAG IT. BAG IT was designed to help survivors and caregivers keep the vital information they need as soon as they are diagnosed. The information is designed to help them cope with their diagnosis, move more competently through the treatment process, empower them to become an active member of the treatment team, and transition to follow up care. Sherri also has an amazing retreat for cancer advocates at the world famous Miraval Resort in Arizona. The three day retreat in August combines features of a national leadership conference and a restorative retreat, with an underlying focus on the wellness of the individual advocate as well as their cancer organization. Beth gives presentations on living plastic-free and why our personal changes do make a difference.  She spearheaded the successful Take Back the Filter Brita recycling campaign in 2008, and her life and work have been profiled in Susan Freinkel's book, Plastic: A Toxic Love Story, Captain Charles Moore's book, Plastic Ocean, and the award-winning film, Bag It.
