Good Morning Ireland, the most recent album from Brian Mackey, encompasses all of the emotions, after the tragic loss of his son to an overdose and the extraordinary renewal with the birth of his daughter, exposing Brian at his lowest and highest moments. With this album, he brings the listener hope and guidance in finding their way toward a light that can only be lit by darkness. The next single "Dust on the Wall," released on May 17th, is one of the songs where he is really working through the grief. His son's ashes sat in the room where his piano was. He would sit and play when he wanted to talk to him, which helped him work through the idea that he was gone, knowing that he was talking to "Dust on the Wall." Brian, who is very active in the realm of supporting mental health partnered with MusiCares®, the Recording Academy's charity, to donate 100% of the proceeds from the track, “Saturday Night Sleeping.” more: getthefunkoutshow.kuci.org

In this episode, we explore how he went from busking in the streets of Dublin to support himself during college, to landing roles in Support and Customer Success and more recently, becoming his own boss. We get an insight into how business ideas come about and how to pursue an opportunity you are passionate about. In his own words, “Take risks that will help you grow, that will expose you to new things. You are going to make mistakes and learn from them. But make sure your risks are calculated, don't rush into anything.” I feel like we only scratched the surface of this conversation with Brian. Grab your notebook and your pen, and let's get inspired! Brian Mackey, Owner of BD Mackey Consulting, joins us for episode 262 of Art of Construction and the second episode in our Digital Built Week 2022 pre-shows. BD Mackey consulting was created to support BIM needs for AEC companies of all size through educational services, technical support, mentoring and custom training. Their goal is to make each company they work with more productive, more efficient and more successful in all areas of the Building Information Modeling process. Brian has been using Revit longer than most and knows the ins and outs of its many uses in the AEC industry. Rather than just a tool for large commercial architects and general contractors, he tells us just how there are potentially infinite uses for the data gathered from BIM for companies of all sizes. He himself began using BIM creating shop drawings as an architectural millworker. While people think BIM has to be about a whole building, the "information" in Building Information Modeling could be anything. What kind of data do you need on a project, and how can you use that data to improve your process? These are the questions Brian asks his clients, and the question each of us should ask ourselves as we explore the best ways to integrate BIM into our company, workflow, or practice. Microsoft Excel, for example, is technically an "information modeling" tool, and the one the most people are familiar with! Many of us already use Excel in our daily work life to streamline our company's operations. BIM is simply bringing that process to the next level. Join Devon and Brian as they discuss everyday and unexpected uses of BIM, Brian's journey as one of the earliest Revit users in the United States, the resources available for implementing Revit into your workflow, what he'll be speaking about at Digital Built Week, and much more! NYC based singer/songwriter Brian Mackey joined me on the show for a fantastic conversation about his life and music. His various influences come through in his songs, and his writing style is very autobiographical. You can tell that he has lived every note. He is a classically trained pianist and was inspired by Bob Dylan & Jim Croce as much as Mozart & Beethoven. Brian brings it all together and has an amazing story to tell. His latest record is called "Broken Heartstrings." Two songs from that album are featured here, as well as one from his "Honest Love" EP. Be sure to check out the other songs that he has available. Learn more at www.brianmackeymusic.com. If you reach out to Brian, please let him know that you heard him here first. Enjoy! CD, Honest Love | 04 Sept 2012What's Your Sign? I Have Your Number! This was a soulful hour you surely did not want to miss! Sharita was honored to have the master musician talents of Singer/Songwriter Brian Mackey join her on the show. Aside from all the planets affirmations on why Brian is here in this incarnation to wow the masses with his melodies that come from the heart upon this earth, listeners' ears were delighted by the sounds that they heard from Brian's natural healing gifts through song.About Brian Mackey:One might say it's hard to pinpoint exactly what genre NYC Artist Brian Mackey is. He is an honest, eclectic pop-infused rock, singer songwriter, with a twist of folkish Americana. But no matter what you label it as, it is heartfelt, witty and truly real. It's just Brian. Originally from a tin-roof town in Havana, Florida, where he spent his early days singing in the bathtub armed with dirty red glasses, and almost blowing up his room with chemistry sets, Brian knew right from the start what he wanted to: write songs. Many a day he played hooky from school just to listen to his favorite music in his room and studied the inserts, building his working mental library of writers, producers, and musicians. As discussed within the show, the Lexigrams from Brian's birth name back up all he is doing here in this incarnation when we poetically phrase the anagrams that can be derived from it- telling the story of what's really in a name.BRIAN KEITH MACKEYBRIAN CAME IN A KARMIC HEART AMBIANCEBRIAN A MAIN THINKER, HE IN A RICH BRAINBRIAN CAME IN A MAIN HEART THE EARTH INHERITBRIAN CAN TAKE HIBERNATE BREAK TIME: HE BE A HERMITBRIAN YEARN IN A RHYTHM RHYME CREATE ARTBRIAN BE THE MAIN EARNER NEAR RHYTHMBRIAN BIRTH A CATCHY RHYTHMIC BEATBRIAN TAKE A MAIN INERTIA HE EMBRACEBRIAN BE NEAR A MAIN CAMERABRIAN BE NEAR A MAIN CHARITYBRIAN BE CERTAIN THE BREATHE THE HATE BEATER[Click Here to Listen]

At age 5, Brian sat at an out-of-tune piano and did his best John Lennon. From there, he never looked back. Brian spent a lot of time growing up in Havana, Florida. Surrounded by beautiful land and paddle-weilding principles that were eager to dole out the corporal punishment, he reflects now with song and lyric. The great Frank McCourt would say, "a normal childhood is hardly worth your while". As an accomplished lyricist and singer/songwriter, his song Painted Red aired on the Disney/Family Channel series, Naturally Sadie. Most recently his song, "Sunshower", was included on the Songs of Love for Japan CD, the official music contribution to the Japan disaster relief sponsored by Shelterbox. His song was among great artists such as Sara Barielles, Ani Difranco and others.  Brian just released his latest album, "Honest Love" and recorded the title track video with director NickCavalier, in Chicago. You can view it here:www.youtube.com/brianmackeymusic.  He just recorded his next video for the song "Sunshower", on the Jersey Shore, and will be releasing in late summer.  For more information visit:  www.brianmackeymusic.co
