We also address the mental health impacts of media overload, supported by research from the American Psychological Association, and privacy concerns highlighted in a study from SpringerLink. Dr. Dagnes offers practical advice on managing media consumption to balance its benefits and drawbacks, emphasizing the importance of critical evaluation and mindful engagement with media sources. This episode of The Social Dentist was inspired by feedback from listeners; in this episode Dr. Desiree Yazdan discusses in depth best practices for posting personal content on your business social media page. Dr Yazdan starts off by reminding us that our social media page is a place to showcase our business. But we can add in aspects of our personal life. It's all about balance. Dr. Yazdan explains that when you are posting on a business page and trying to gain a following, you are building a brand and on social media, part of that brand-building is a personal brand. Dr yazdan makes it clear why including parts of our personal life on our business page is important, and it goes back to building that connection. She gives clear examples of how to include personal aspects into your business page. Dr. Yazdan challenges us to show our face, make those connections and see our business grow. She even gives implementable ideas of how to show up in a personal way on our business page. Even if you aren't part of Dr. Yazdan's Grow with the Gram program, you're in luck, because in this episode, Dr. Yazdan shares her rule for keeping the right business/personal balance on your social media page, which was previously exclusive for the Grow with the Gram insiders. If you're wondering how much is the right amount of personal information to share, you won't want to miss this podcast because Dr. Yazdan tells us her gauge for how much to share on social media. She is also sharing a free branding guide to help you stand out in a saturated market. How much is too much to share publicly on social media and what is the potential downside of doing so? Using social media safely requires you to consider the risks and consequences of having publicly accessible information about you available to anyone. Sharing your life and information with others is perfectly reasonable and social media allows us to do it with ease and convenience. However, having your personal details available to anyone who may want to find the information is neither safe nor advisable. Always consider your privacy settings to ensure you are only sharing information with those that you trust. Business users need to concern themselves with security in the social media landscape or you risk losing your account as the Instagram Lip Model I refer to in the episode almost did. See the full news story here. I talk about top tips for security and safety in this episode. Share on your social media to help spread this important message! This month we are focusing on social media. One of the biggest questions you ask is how do I grow my social media following? First of all, I recommend not trying to do all the things. Choose 1-2 platforms. And instead of focusing on numbers and growth, focus on serving the followers you already have. Build a tribe of raving fans that will promote you to others because they know, like and trust you. We will talk about specific ways you can serve your followers in this episode. In today's episode, I start the first of a series on teaching you more about online business (but not in the way you might think). There are plenty of marketing podcasts out there, this isn't one of them. But I do want to teach you what I know about marketing so you can navigate the online world and know who trust, what's sponsored and more importantly, make good decisions about how you spend your money. I hope you enjoy this episode.
