I don't need to be in your pockets every month: Hit me off once and I'll send you Breakup Gaming Society's cocktail booklet and your own adorable Defiant Frog sticker. Yes, if you don't think about it too much and enjoy David Thompson's outstanding first entry in Dan Verssen Games' popular Valiant Defense series.Track of the Week (16:27)Lots of rap acts stuck a house track on one of their albums in the late ‘80s, but “Club Scene” by Special Ed (feat. Danny Grant went from wild nights in Melbourne's club scene to building viral alcohol brands that shook up the industry. You've probably partied in one of his venues or knocked back one of his drinks, yeah, he's the guy behind Wet Pussy. In this episode, Danny Grant lays it all out. From getting flogged in business and being dead broke to backing himself hard and building a multi-million dollar comeback. No BS. No fluff. Just the kind of story you don't hear often unless you're tuning in to his Danny Rants pod, which has exploded for a reason. This one's not about getting lucky. It's about betting on yourself when everyone else thinks you're done.
The music NEVER stopped. On this episode we dive into one of the better pop culture documentaries that we have seen in recent memory in 'Disco's Revenge'.In the early 70s, the beat child of New York's Black and LGBTQ+ communities was born on the city's underground dance floor. Disco emerged as an exuberant musical genre, a vital social movement and a vibrant culture before enduring a vicious backlash nearly a decade later. In our collective pop-culture imagination, Disco's merely a fad relegated to soft-focus memories of Saturday Night Fever and Studio 54. It is a pulsating deep dive into the very soul of disco music and its enduring impact across genres and history, told by the people who created it, nurtured it, and in turn, discovered themselves on the dancefloor. The film asks: Why does disco matter and, in these divisive times, why does disco matter now more than ever? Featuring interviews and performances by Nile Rodgers and Chic, Billy Porter, Nona Hendryx and LaBelle, Grandmaster Flash, Fab Five Freddy, Nicky Siano, Earl Young and The Trammps, Jellybean Benitez, Kevin Saunderson, Sylvester and Martha Wash and many others. Never has a film really got as anthropological when looking at a slice of music culture and that's what makes 'Disco's Revenge' so damn special. With sit down with writer/direcfor's Omar Majeed and Peter Mishara to get deep into the groove of it all.'Disco's Revenge' is on all VOD platforms.

Video version: https://youtu.be/5DIH0zdPnOk Working across UK funky, house and various, mutated strains of bass-heavy club music, Roska has earmarked himself as one of the UK's most accomplished underground exponents. Through a series of releases via influential dance labels like Numbers, Tectonic and Hotflush, as well as two albums for Rinse Recordings in 2012, he originally blazed a trail for funky to return to the clubs. He has continued to push the sound firmly into the future too, albeit now punctuated by his wider influences, via his own, genre-blurring Roska Kicks & Snares (RKS) imprint. Presiding over 50 releases, RKS has welcomed the likes of MA1, Champion, Gemmy and Doc Daneeka to the label since its inception in 2009 and now functions around a core base of new artists; Tony Tokyo, J Kenzo's Jodo Kast project, Majora, Transcode and Frederique. After spending the last four years releasing via different platforms A renowned DJ to boot, Roska's ‘Roska Presents' brand has seen him curate line-ups across the UK for the last five years and after recently returning from a tour of Asia – he took in dates in Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul. Armed with a series of fresh remixes for artists including Matthew Herbert, grime-rap star CasIsDead, DJ Fresh and even Diplo, Roska is also prepping releases for Low Steppa's Simma Red, Form & Function and Pinch's crucial label hub, Tectonic. With a temporary move away from regular radio also in motion, a lot lies in store over the next few years – a defining period in Roska's impressively diverse and equally influential career so far. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raveroompodcast/message

TravCon 2022 Recap!! TravCon is the largest conference for healthcare travelers & it happens every year in September in Vegas. It's a wild couple of days and it's a great mix of both learning & playing. This was our 4th year attending TravCon, but it was our first year going where we didn't have any work obligations. We didn't think we were going to make it this year, so we didn't want to have any responsibilities, and then we decided at the very last minute to go. We thought it would be fun to have a year "off" so that way we could focus on playing & going to parties and doing all the things we don't usually do when we're working at the conference. It definitely wasn't the vibe we thought it was going to be & We had a lot of triggers that came up for us while we were there...We also realized we just don't party like we used to & it also takes us a lot longer to rebound! We break it all down in this weeks episode.Email us with any questions or comments at freedom@kimanderrang.comLet's connect on social: Follow us on our IG Story: www.instagram.com/kimanderrang/To check out the Travsessed Backpack & to learn more about our adventure trips & Travelers School head over to www.imtravsessed.com

GamerDude talks about the prevalence of comedy clubs back in the 1980s and 1990s, with names like "Bananas" or "Giggles." He talks about the many stars of the past twenty years who started as stand-up comics in the 1980s, from Eddie Murphy to Robin Williams to David Letterman. He also talks about how "Comedy Night" at the local bars would bring some young, aspiring comics into town to test their material, and you could have a front row seat. He also talks about music clubs, and how going out to a bar or a club to listen to live music was a regular thing. He talks about a duo he met in college, and how they would pack the crowds in to the little bar at the local Holiday Inn on the weekends. GamerDude also talks about the dance clubs that seemed to be in every town, and discusses the various places he would go in New Jersey, from Connections to the Parsippany Hilton for dancing the night away. He also talks about a couple of the big clubs in New York City - The Limelight and Studio 54 - that he never went to but that he had heard about. He also talks about how society has changed in so many ways so that venues like these clubs just don't exist anymore, and how people's attitudes, in general, have made the existence of these clubs - at least the way they used to be - almost impossible.

His parents did encourage him to get a qualification so he had something to fall back on (7:29).He goes on to explain how he "stumbled" into his career path by way of the college he attended to study mechanics (10:18). Eventually, he found his way into club promotion, doing it the "DIY way" (14:21). When it comes to promotion, whether it's a club night or promoting his own band, Stu points to an ability to talk to people and be confident that helped make him a success (17:07). If you're looking for the first name drop, it comes at (19:26), before Stu goes on to discuss his second band and his complicated relationship with joy (21:21). Eventually, he found himself managing the nightclub, The Pink Toothbrush (24:00), and promoting at other club nights including with our mutual friend Scroobius Pip [name drop number 2 ] (26:12). He puts the blame squarely on Pip for getting him into podcasting as well (28:50).If you're wondering where Jordan and Stu's paths crossed, it was doing the podcasting magazine PodBible (33:12). Michael Alig was an American club promoter and convicted felon. He was the self proclaimed "King of the Club Kids," a group of young New York City clubgoers who became a cultural phenomenon in the late 1980s and early 1990s through their flamboyant costumes and their excessive use of party drugs. In March 1996, Alig and his roommate, Robert D. "Freeze" Riggs, killed fellow Club Kid Andre "Angel" Melendez in a confrontation over amongst other things, a delinquent drug debt. The pair then dismembered the body and disposed of Melendez's remains in the Hudson River, where they were later discovered by children playing on a beach in Staten Island.
