Are you desperately searching for answers? The problem is, we usually don't find them until we stop striving and searching. Fixating on the problem only enlarges the problem and freezes us from moving forward—it freezes us from living life. Like I heard my son's band, Guava Tree, sing the other night, "relax and get your power back". That was so good, because truth is, the answers often come to us when we stop laboring and start living our life and try relaxing instead. So join me in my experiment and let's see who the guinea pig will really be.Contact usLinktree: www.Linktr.ee/HappyLifeStudiosEmail: Podcast@HappyLife.StudioYo Stevo Hotline: (425) 200-HAYS (4297)Webpage: www.HappyLife.lol YouTube: www.YouTube.com/StevoHaysLinkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/steve-hays-b6b1186b/TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@happylifestudiosFacebook: www.Facebook.com/HappyLifeStudios Instagram: www.Instagram.com/HappyLife_Studios Twitter: www.x.com/stevehays If you would like to help us spread the HappyPayPal: www.PayPal.me/StevoHaysCash App: $HappyLifeStudiosZelle: StevoHays@gmail.comVenmo: @StevoHaysBuy Me A Coffee: buymeacoffee.com/HappyLifeStudioCheck: Payable to Hays Ministries or Steve Hays and send to 27240 213th Place S.E. Obsession and addiction often go together: we tend to get obsessed with whatever we're addicted to, and can't stop thinking about it. Intrusive thoughts are also in this category - we don't want them any more than we want an addiction, but by their very nature, they dominate our thoughts, and thus become an obsession. All of these have a common origin. All Obsessions Start With Something Good, and then Twist It Evil defines itself by the absence of God, just as darkness defines itself as the absence of light. Satan cannot create anything; all he can do is pervert something that God made, and intended for good. So if evil itself is an inversion of something created to be good, then nearly everything God created for our pleasure and enjoyment can also become evil, or sinful, if we make it our highest aim or focus. Obsessions and Addiction are Placing Anything Before God God's very first commandment to the Israelites in the Old Testament was to have no other gods before Him (Ex 20:3). The Israelites broke this commandment over and over in a very literal sense, worshipping false gods first that they'd grown up with from Egypt, and then the false gods of the nations they encountered in the wilderness and in the surrounding nations of the Promised Land. Today, most of us don't literally worship false gods, per se (though that's becoming more prevalent too). Rather, we make some desire or worry or need or love the focus of our lives, instead of God. C.S. Lewis wrote that romantic love (a very common substitute for God) "ceases to be a devil only when it ceases to be a god." The same would go for any other positive good that God created for our benefit--all could become something we seek after, more than we seek after God. That's really a prerequisite for any obsession or addiction. Jesus told us that if we'd seek Him and His kingdom first, everything else would be added to us (Matt 6:25-34). That's not just our needs, either. God is the giver of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). If we make Him our primary delight, we'll get the desires of our hearts thrown in (Psalm 37:4). If we're abiding in Him first, we can ask whatever we desire, and it will be done for us (John 15:7). That's what it means, that if we find our lives (make that our primary focus), we'll lose it, but if we lose it for His sake, then we'll find it (Matthew 10:39). The problem is, most of us don't actually believe that. One of my favorite fictional stories is the Superman myth. It's such a clear parable. (Also, apparently the creators of Superman were Jewish, not Christian, but they based the character of Superman on Moses and Samson of the Old Testament, as well as the prophecies of the coming Messiah. Some of the earlier Superman movies were conscious of the Christ symbolism, as well.) Lois Lane fawns over Superman, while ignoring Clark Kent—not realizing that Superman remains elusive to her only because it's clear that she doesn't really love him; she only loves what he can do for her. If she'd only choose Clark, she'd get Superman thrown in. I think God is exactly like that. He loves us, and He longs to bless us (Psalm 103:1-5), but He wants our hearts, not our actions. He wanted a relationship with Israel, after bringing them out of the wilderness--but they were afraid of Him, and asked Moses to just be His mouthpiece and relay to them what He said (Ex 20:18-19). Even after that, God asked Moses to take seventy of Israel's elders and bring them a little way up the mountain so that they could eat and drink in His presence--even though He was at a distance, He wanted them to catch a glimpse of Him (Ex 24:9-11). He wanted to have dinner with His family. God later made this part of how the Israelites were to worship: they were to bring all their burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, and heave offerings of grain to the place of worship, and eat it together in His presence (Deut 12:5-7). He blessed them with increase, and as their act of worship, He wanted them to have a big feast and enjoy it. All He asked was that they invite Him to the party! Understanding how much God loves us is really the key to faith--faith works though love (Gal 5:6). If we don't understand how much He loves us, we aren't going to trust Him to take care of us and meet our needs (Isaiah 26:3). That's why we'll try to take matters into our own hands, attempting to meet our own needs (as an anxious primary fixation—not as the side benefit of doing our work well for the purposes of glorifying God, Col 3:23-24). But if we do truly put God first, it's the antidote to all anxiety, addiction, and obsession. Willpower ("The Law") Won't Work. That's the Whole Point. Paul describes in Romans 7:14-24 what happens when we try to suppress or control any obsessive or addictive tendency: "For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do… For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin." This describes the experience of every yo-yo dieter, every sugar addict, every alcoholic, or everyone addicted to any other substance or behavior. Paul repeats the same concept in Galatians 5:17: "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." You might be able to exert willpower against those things for a time, but the very act of denying yourself actually makes the desire for the thing denied grow stronger. That's what the Old Testament law was designed to do--to make us aware that we were incapable of keeping it, apart from God's help (Romans 7:5-6). Paul addresses the next logical objection: "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, 'You shall not covet.' But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death." (Romans 7:7-10). This is just the way of our flesh: it rebels against any rules placed upon it--even if the rules are neutral, or if you know they're for your good and will achieve a desired end, and even if they're self-imposed. This is the whole concept behind any type of “forbidden fruit.” That phrase itself alludes to the single fruit in the garden forbidden to Adam and Eve, from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, though God had given them so much abundance elsewhere (Genesis 3); the very fact that it was forbidden called their attention to it, making it more attractive. (This is also why, for instance, a perfect recipe for insomnia is to try to will yourself to sleep--the harder you try, the more wide awake you'll be. It's also why trying to suppress any intrusive thoughts will have the opposite effect. “Don't think about a pink elephant"--see, what are you thinking about right now?) Fortunately, the story doesn't end with Romans 7, though. Paul is tracing the story of God's relationship with humanity through successive covenants. Before the law came, He did not impute sin to men yet (Romans 7:8-9), which is why after Cain murdered his brother, God actually protected him (Gen 4:13-15). Yet after Noah's covenant (which was the first to include a command not to murder), then murder was to be punished as sin (Gen 9:5-6). At this point it was the only sin to be called out, though, so it was the only sin that carried punishment, until the Mosaic covenant made the rest explicit. This is the law Paul describes in Romans 7, and the entire Old Testament dramatizes the fact that men are incapable of being righteous by works; that was Paul's point. God wanted us to know that we're incapable in our flesh, so that we'd be aware that we needed a savior to do it for us. That's why Romans 8 follows Romans 7. Romans 7 is all about us (our "flesh") trying to keep the law--any law--by ourselves. By contrast, Romans 8 describes what happens when we have help from the Holy Spirit. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin... For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. ...So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you." (Romans 8:2-11). This is about salvation, yes, but it's also more practical than that. Those of us who are saved can still choose to walk in the flesh (by our own efforts) or we can surrender to God and walk by His Spirit, with His help. This is the main message of Galatians; Paul writes, "Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law, or by hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?” (Gal 3:2-3). Obviously this is rhetorical--but it's clear that even those who have received forgiveness for their sins can choose to return to the efforts of their flesh, if they want to do so. But it will only produce bondage if they do. Paul writes, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage” (Gal 5:1). Obsession and addiction is the compulsion to obey a master other than God. That's bondage. Paul writes, "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16). How to Get Free: Walking By the Spirit Paul's juxtaposition in Romans opposite walking in the flesh is walking by the spirit. But the big caveat is that we don't walk in the spirit by trying to walk in the spirit; If we try, if WE try, we're doing it from the flesh. That will never ultimately work, and will likely have the opposite effect eventually. That's how all works of the flesh are. We don't "ask God to do it for us," either, though, because He already did it! He can't give us again something He already gave us. Instead, our part is to acknowledge what Jesus did for us, and thank Him for it. Paul wrote in Philemon 1:6 that Philemon's faith became effective by the "acknowledging [of] every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus." And what has Christ provided? 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new." (Past tense. This is ours in the spirit, but not necessarily in the flesh--we're to work this out in our souls and flesh, with God's help: Phil 2:12). Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." 2 Peter 1:4: "By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." 1 Corinthians 2:12-16: "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God... We have the mind of Christ." Phil 4:13: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control." We also have the fruit of the spirit. We don't have to conjure it up (and indeed, we can't), but it's already ours: "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." (Galatians 5:22). We don't strain to live from this place; we thank God that it is ours already (Phil 4:6-7). Our labor now is only to enter that state of resting in what He has already done (Hebrews 4:11). Satan contributes to obsessions and intrusive thoughts, of course--whether they originate with him or with our flesh, it's certainly his agenda to keep us in chains. But thank God, the power of Satan was sin--that was the Old Testament curse, and Jesus redeemed us from the curse (Galatians 3:13). The power Satan has over us now is only the power to deceive us. That's why Paul tells us that when Satan comes to us with lies, we're to fight back with the weapons God gave us, taking every thought captive and making it obedient to Christ (2 Cor 10:5). But they're God's weapons, not ours. In Eph 6:12-18, Paul enumerates them--they are truth (being well grounded in God's word so that we can recognize lies when we hear them, even and especially if they are half-truths), righteousness (understanding that we are righteous because of what Jesus did, not because of anything we do--and that we are righteous already, so can can come boldly before the throne of grace, and expect to receive help in time of need, Heb 4:16), peace (which guards our minds, Phil 4:7), faith (you can't have peace without faith, Isaiah 26:3), salvation (which also means we have the Holy Spirit living in us as our guide), and the sword of the Spirit, God's word. This is the offensive weapon; the only one Paul lists. The Holy Spirit will bring to our remembrance those scriptures we know, when we need them (John 14:26). So the keys God gave us to achieve freedom are to remember that He gave us His Spirit, to thank Him that although we can't free ourselves, He freed us already--and to use the spiritual weapons He gave us to enforce what is already ours. And then, go about the business of God's kingdom. Fixating on trying to solve your problem will only keep you stuck in the loop of thinking you can solve your problem. You can't; but He already did. We can trust Him for the full manifestation of that freedom, just like Jesus told us to trust Him to meet our physical needs (Matt 6:25-34). And he says we get those by going about His business, by seeking after something greater than ourselves. When we do that, Jesus promised that we'd get everything else thrown in. Known widely for its relevance in business and economics—where it explains how 20% of efforts can yield 80% of results—Myrna introduces how this principle can be effectively applied to personal relationships. The discussion moves away from the pursuit of perfection, urging listeners to focus on the 80% of their relationship that truly brings happiness and fulfillment, and to manage small imperfections that represent only 20% of the equation.Coach Myrna passionately discusses the importance of appreciating what your partner brings to the table rather than fixating on the 20% that may be lacking. Through relatable examples and personal anecdotes, she emphasizes that no relationship can meet 100% of one's expectations. Instead, she encourages listeners to cherish the aspects of their partner that bring joy and satisfaction, advocating for gratitude and realistic expectations. Her insights reinforce that nurturing the positive aspects of a relationship can significantly outweigh the negatives.Key Takeaways:The 80/20 rule applies to relationships, focusing on appreciating the 80% of positive contributions.Fixating on the 20% that's missing can lead to unnecessary tension and dissatisfaction.Gratitude and realistic expectations are crucial for maintaining a healthy relationship.Perfection is not the goal; instead, focus on contentment, growth, and connection.Chasing the missing 20% in a relationship can lead to losing the valuable 80%.Notable Quotes:"Focus on the major contributions to happiness and fulfillment: the 80% that our partner gives us.""No partner or relationship is perfect, and expecting perfection would only lead to disappointment.""In reality, no one can fulfill everything you desire all the time.""The grass is greener where you water it.""Appreciate what they're doing; that 20% might show up."To advertise on our podcast, visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/TransformyourMindor email kriti@youngandprofiting.com See this video on The Transform Your Mind YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@MyhelpsUs/videosTo see a transcripts of this audio as well as links to all the advertisers on the show page https://myhelps.us/Follow Transform Your Mind on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/myrnamyoung/Follow Transform Your mind on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063738390977Please leave a rating and review on iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/transform-your-mind/id1144973094

One way that childhood trauma hurts your ability to have a healthy relationship is by halting your emotional development. When your parents threaten and ignore you, you have only your child's mind to interpret why they are doing this, and how to cope with it. Some people shut down emotionally, which obviously isn't good for adult relationships later. And some people fixate on GETTING the love they are so hungry for. And even with a good partner they can't really be present or FEEL the love they're given because there's an emptiness inside that they're SURE their partner is causing. In this video, I respond to a letter from a woman who suspects that nothing her boyfriend does will ever feel like enough for her, and she's questioning if the problem is her… or him. Cindy Esliger addresses the arrival fallacy in this episode. That belief that once we reach a certain milestone in our careers everything will fall into place, as if by magic, and we will arrive in perpetual happiness. We will have “made it” into the mythological destination where we enter reward and leave the struggle. This fallacy doesn't actually work because rewards, experiences, professional growth, and fulfillment only occur as part of the journey, not as an arrival bonus. Cindy breaks down how to see the journey as fulfilling and abandon our obsession with instant gratification. When we are only focused on the destination, the goal, and the end result, we tend to miss the transformative work in between. We tune out more, we rush things, we don't want to learn. We simply want to arrive and be recognized. Cindy describes how to view the process of working as a reward in itself because of how it enriches our lives. She explains why going through the trials and grind of daily work to learn and flourish is ultimately better for our careers than immediate reward. It's difficult to shift out of the finish line mindset, so Cindy has three tips to make shifting into enjoying continual improvement easier: 1) Set process goals, 2) Celebrate the wins and learn from the losses, and 3) Reflect regularly. Cindy wants us to recognize that satisfaction in our career journey is kind of the point of our work. Fixating solely on the destination means we are never living in the now and are not learning how to grow beyond expectations. Join Cindy as she breaks down exactly why the arrival fallacy is exactly that, a fallacy.Resources discussed in this episode:Guide to Reshaping Your Career OutlookAstronomic AudioConfidence Collective—Contact Cindy Esliger Career Confidence Coaching: website | instagram | facebook | linkedin | email

We all have things in our lives that we have made into little thrones, whether it be a career, finances, marriage or maybe something else. Fixating on these little thrones can often take our gaze off of the One True Throne that we should be looking to. In this episode, Pastor Jared and Pastor DJ discuss how Revelation chapters 4 & 5 teach us to return our gaze back to Jesus and that no matter what happens to us, we are going to be okay. When we say that every job is meaningful, what do we really mean by that? Have you ever found yourself thinking that bringing people to Christ, funding missions, and serving the poor were the only jobs that *really* mattered? Trust us, you're not alone in that thinking. We know there are a lot of Christians out there who struggle with that same belief. This week, we get real on this topic and openly discuss how hurtful and damaging it is to deem some jobs meaningless and place higher value on other jobs. The Whole Bundle: Nurturing parents through nourishing conversations
Welcoming a new life into the world is an incredible occasion that brings joy, excitement, and sometimes, unexpected challenges. In this week's episode of The Whole Bundle, we share part 1 of Cayla Guins heartfelt story about her journey through postpartum depression following the birth of her first daughter. This conversation touches on the often unspoken struggles of new mothers, emphasizing the importance of conversation, support, and understanding in navigating postpartum depression and anxiety.Cayla's journey began in North Carolina, where she lives with her husband, Phillip. Having been married for over 4 years and together for 12, they were ecstatic about starting a family. However, what was supposed to be a joyous phase of her life took an unexpected turn after her daughter's birth. The transition into motherhood brought Cayla face-to-face with postpartum depression, a struggle she chose to share to bring light to this crucial issue affecting many new mothers.Despite a relatively straightforward pregnancy, Cayla, who had experienced mild anxiety and depression in the past, found herself caught in a whirlwind of emotions postpartum. The joy of birth was quickly overshadowed by anxiety, doubts, and the overwhelming responsibilities of motherhood. These feelings were exacerbated by difficulties in nursing and bonding with her daughter, amplified by the lack of sleep and adjustment to her new role.Cayla's openness about her struggles brings to light the critical need for discussions about postpartum depression and anxiety. From her candid recount of the emotional toll taken by sleepless nights trying to nurse, to the feelings of inadequacy and frustration when things didn't go as planned, Cayla's story is a beacon for others facing similar battles.Through her vulnerability, Cayla teaches us the power of standing in one's truth and reaching out for help when needed. Her journey is a testament to her strength and resilience, qualities that shine brightly even in the darkest times. It's a reminder to all new mothers that it's okay not to be okay and that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.Through seeking support, speaking out, and prioritizing her mental health, Cayla began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Her experience serves as a message of hope and resilience for anyone in the throes of postpartum depression, reminding them that they are not alone, and that with time and support it does get better. We talk about:00:00 Intro03:46 Cayla's story about her pregnancy and what happened next05:41 How her existing anxiety developed as she went through her pregnancy10:43 Going off all medication and her first spike of anxiety during the first trimester12:58 How her second trimester went13:40 When her anxiety started to build14:58 Fixating on bad outcomes vs. feeling them and letting it go17:52 Did she talk to your OB about your anxiety18:47 Getting a doula20:11 The birth of her daughter25:51 Postpartum floor and challenges with lactation29:25 Starting to feel like you're getting everything wrong, insecurities stacking up33:59 Getting discharged and going homeConnect with meInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/wholebundle/https://thewholebundle.com/

Let's make this summer your most productive season yet! TRANSCRIPT Three time wasters for mom founders and how to replace that time with more productive activities. I don't know about you, but I have three children. I am looking at the summer season and I cannot say that I'm going to have more time to devote to my business and my practice where I'm teaching mom founders like you to leverage the art of strategic networking for profit. So what I have to do every single season right before is really map out The most optimal use of my day hours. So I wanted to give you a sense for some of the things I've noticed, some patterns I've noticed when I've been coaching mom leaders throughout these last 12 years. So here's the first time waster that I have noticed that are stealing money straight out of your pockets. Okay. So time waster number one, second, guessing yourself. I'm just going to say it like it is. You are having sex with your self doubts, and apparently it seems to be something that feels very good because we do it quite often, and I include myself in this as well. Oftentimes, it is hard to really almost take the wheel back of our days when it is us who is captivated by This idea that no, I don't know how to sell myself or no, I shouldn't talk to that person because I don't have a warm intro and what happens is essentially you're just there stuck looking at a long list of human beings that most likely will want their problems solved. Buy the person that's gonna call them and you do nothing you do nothing and the reason why I share this is because I was talking to a mom founder for example she literally has warm leads in her linked in right now we're talking about people. Who have raised their hands and said to this person that they want to connect with her and potentially they want to do business with her. Certainly they would like to make money with her. And yet there's this hesitation. There is this hesitation to do the deed and reach out to people that are. Literally warm leads in your LinkedIn platform. And that is a time waster. This idea that we're looking at something multiple times in a day and wondering to ourselves, should I do it? Can I do it? How will I do it rather than starting to take the steps necessary to actually reach out to those people and follow up with every single one. So I wanted to just share a potential solution. This is going to sound so obvious, but I want you to actually take action on this one. I invite you to set a timer. It could be 20 minutes. We could consider the Pomodoro process where it's like 20 minute increments and then some breaks. Set a timer and get that list of warm leads in your LinkedIn platform done. It sounds simple. It totally does. But I want you to ask yourself, like, why haven't you done it yet? Like if you actually have people, again, who have raised their hands in your LinkedIn said, I want to do business with you. Certainly at minimum, I would like to make money with you. Why have you not actually gone and done this follow up? Right? So that's the first point. Second, guessing yourself. It is often very, very enticing, very, very alluring to just think about thinking about and thinking about thinking about. And I've noticed this so, so often, especially with a lot of mom founders who are hella educated. Because I think we had the luxury when we were in business school or law school in grad school to really reconsider and re argue and recreate and reinvent the wheel where right now the market moves quite quickly. And I don't think we have that luxury as a mom founder, you don't have that luxury unless you have a lot more time than me, then my God, please. Tell me, how do you have more time? So that's the first point. Here's a second time waster for mom founders. And again, how you might want to replace that time with more productive activities. So there's this idea and I hear this time again, and it frustrates me just because there have been so many opportunities and moments in my life where I could have said the same thing. And even had the same thoughts. Here's this idea. The idea that you are not getting investment dollars as easily as men who can at minimum just spit an idea on a napkin and somehow magically conjure up millions of dollars in investments. I want to ask you for real, for real, how does having that thought help you? Now, if you need that chip on your shoulder, if it drives you crazy and it makes you fight harder than amazing, but if you're wasting your already stretched out mental bandwidth on using this excuse or thinking about it, Then, again, you are wasting your time. You really, really, really are. And I believe that as moms, our superpower is having a fertile imagination. Just the other day, I was interviewing one of the most influential people in the book industry, Zibi Owens. And her imagination is wild and amazing and wonderful. And so she's building out her business. Now if she had to just think to herself, my goodness, all these guys that are at the helm of leadership and other organizations, they have it so easy. Maybe I know from the people with whom I've interacted, let me not even try. Then I just can't imagine that she would be one of the most influential people in publishing. I just can't see it. Instead of thinking about that idea, that whole, like, drawing a napkin on the table. It must be so easy for a guy. Instead of that, why don't you find a guy, quote unquote, it doesn't even matter if they are a guy. Why don't you find a person that you believe literally just drew on a napkin and sold their idea for millions of dollars and ask that person to mentor you. You're going to think that is wild and crazy, but you know what? I've done similar things in the past and I've approached strangers in libraries. If you're one of those strangers in the libraries, yes, it's me. And I have absolutely figured out a way to build rapport with strangers, connect with them, turn them into connections. And also add value by my way as well, not just me taking from their insights and wisdom. And so again, if this is your thought, okay, great. How can we leverage that idea in your favor and take action? So you stop wasting your mental energy unless you have extra energy. I don't know. I don't know. There are some moms that have like A lot of energy, but I just want to invite you to imagine this idea that you can actually step up to a person that you think just drew on a napkin and got millions of dollars, and you could just ask them to teach you how to draw. You could go to a supermarket, buy a whole, Oodle of napkins and just start drawing like a mofo. And let's see what comes up for you. Certainly something will come up. That's going to be more productive than just thinking in your mind that I wish I were a single guy. Okay. That's the second time guzzler third one for mom founders. And again, how to replace this time guzzler or waster with more productive activities. So spreading yourself and your efforts across a wide array of activities. And I want to be really nuanced here, specifically doing this, spreading yourself across a wide array of activities, because that one activity, that one activity that you originally were thinking about doing, because you knew in the heart of hearts that that activity would turn around your business, such as having B2B conversations. Whereas in years before you've only had. B2C conversations, right, where that one game changing, I've never done it before idea started to get hard because you were actually starting to take the steps and doing that big, crazy, unnatural for you idea. Let me be super clear when I say that. So let's just imagine. That you have always sold to individuals. You have an organization. You've always sold to individuals your product. And now you're trying to gain distribution at big box stores. Let's just imagine. And you know, like, okay, like if I crack that code, then I'm going to make a Real progress towards my dreams. Then I'm going to have a business that is like a really kick ass amazing business here. Right. And so that idea, it sounds wonderful. Like a fantasy. It sounds amazing. Like a goal. It sounds amazing. Like even a napkin drawing, but then once you start taking steps and you hear rejections, or you're not getting callbacks or. People are questioning, well, how many units have you sold? And what is the, what was it? I remember when I worked at Procter Gamble, the whole like shelf, uh, velocity, right? Like how quickly can it fly off the shelf idea? When those numbers just don't land in terms of the ones that you offer to the person that is in charge of distribution, like that is when all of a sudden you'll say to yourself, you know what? Let me just do more of B2C. Let me just do more of B2C in all these different ways. Let me just do anything other than this brand new thing that I set out to do. And that is where you start to lose focus and the impact that you can have on your business really is diluted for sure. So what would be the best way to actually replace that time waster with something that is a lot more productive? So something that will be a lot more productive is to go back to the original strategy and find someone who executed precisely on that strategy, maybe ask them to mentor you, ask them for templates, pay for their templates, hire them as a coach, and do it in differently, right? So if whatever it is that you're doing is not producing the results that you imagine, that's one side of it. The other side of it must be or could be that the sales cycle is going to be longer. And so that's the other side of it. So if you intend to actually make some progress in that way, it's important to just go back to the drawing board, but not like erasing the whiteboard, but go back to what you originally intended to do, what you know in your heart to work. Okay. And figure out how to crack that nut or code or whatever it is that you're selling or trying to accomplish. If you are living any of these three time wasters, right? And let's just imagine that your cash runway is running out. Then I want to invite you to imagine this scenario. This is a crazy idea that I am so excited about. Because This is how I support my mom founder clients. So picture it. Yes, we are going to Sophia Protillo from the Golden Girls. That's what she used to say. Picture this. A power packed three hour zoom session right from the comfort of your home. We do it over zoom. So you don't have to sacrifice time from your business or your family. And during this intensive session, I am your guide. We literally hop on zoom, share screens and start diving into the trenches together, reaching out to potential investors, maybe podcast guests or partners or media giants in real time. So you know that list of warm leads? Yeah, we're going to execute on it real time together so that this way your spirit and my spirit are co creating some happy flow of progress. And we are not stopping to let you think over, think, rethink, or re imagine. So, This idea of a three hour session with me, it is called a VIP day. It is a VIP day that you will be very prepared for because I'll provide a questionnaire up front. You will have an opportunity to really think through. How we will leverage every single minute, because every single minute counts for a mom founder world, we'll have the opportunity to, again, before we hop on that three hour call, I will know what your business goals are, your target investors, or potential podcast guests and partners or media contacts, right? And also what challenges you are facing, whether they are more mindset or strategic or tactical, right? And we're just going to be making sure that those three hours together are maximized, just totally maximize. Then real time. Live on zoom. It's just about action. We're going to roll up our sleeves and dive into the heart of Networking reaching out following up doing everything that feels hard to do when you're by yourself Because you don't have someone telling you like do the work It's not like you have this boss, right? And we're gonna actually implement everything that I just shared with you as far as execution in real time So we're gonna leverage some of the insights from your pre work We're gonna identify the people as I said all on the spot And you're going to see firsthand how you can actually craft some compelling outreach messages and make meaningful connections that matter. And it does not have to mean you are being stopped or paused by gatekeepers. That is actually what makes my process different. I don't actually engage with gatekeepers. Fun fact. All right. So. Again, a lot of this outreach tends to be so daunting, especially when you're doing something new, exploring a new strategy. But with my guidance, you're going to get it done. I mean, whether it's through email, LinkedIn or another channel, you're going to have a clear plan of action and you're going to have a ton of confidence to execute this real time. Okay, so I think it's so important. Also, follow up. I know a lot of times, of course, like one point out, one reach out, one email is not going to be get you all these results immediately. Although, for a client, it only took an hour for her to get On the calendar of someone in an insurance company, but let's just imagine we're reaching out to 50 people, a hundred people, and some will not get back to you within that three hour timeframe. So I'm going to make sure that you know how to follow up with the individuals that we reached out to during that three hour, let's just call it sprint. So at the end of this VIP networking day, you're going to feel empowered. energize, and you're going to be totally unstoppable. I think it's so urgent right before the summer lets out that you have optimized your time in terms of outreach efforts, that you have absolutely done as much as possible to put the ball in your court so that things start moving towards the direction of your biggest ambitions. And I can help you there. Now, I want to be really, really clear. I have a special rate for this VIP networking day for members of my podcast community, and I will happily share with you what that rate is during a 15 minute. Zoom call with me, because I need to get to know you. I want you to get to know me and we need to like have a certain vibe so that I know that you will get the results that you deserve. Right? So I'm going to put that link into the show notes. You will be able to sign up for the 15 minute call with me so that we could hop on zoom, go through the details of this VIP day. But here's what I neglected to mention this very moment. To lock in the special rate that I do have for you, my dear listeners, you're gonna have to secure your spot in the next 72 hours. What? Yes, 72 hours because I want to know that you are decisive. I want to know that you are ready to work real time, not delay, not overthink, not get ready to get ready. This is about action takers, right? So in the next 72 hours, go over to the link in my show notes, which you can see on the device where you're listening to this conversation and sign up for 15 minutes with me. Within the next 72 hours, now, I will share with you the details during that call. We will get to know each other during that call and you can make a decision on that call. You do not, to be clear, you do not need to have the actual VIP day. In the next 72 hours, the VIP day must happen by May 22nd, May 22nd is May 22nd, a magic date. It is not, but I am a mom founder too, and that is the last day of school for my three boys. So I want to make sure that I can 100 percent focus on you. And that is why we must get this accomplished by May 22nd. So. Go ahead into the show notes and be sure to sign up for the 15 minute session. So you have a good idea of precisely what you would be getting into. If you were to secure your spot, I only have three spots. That is it. That is all I'm doing in terms of the VIP networking day. So three hours with me, we're focused on those warm leads that have been hanging out in your LinkedIn. Or we would be focused on going after those B2B clients that you feel like. Intimidated about, or we will go after the podcast guests or partners with whom you'd like to make more money. And so that is what we will do all about action. And honestly, the clock is ticking, so I encourage you to act very, very quickly. Three spots must talk to me within the next 72 hours, and the VIP day must happen by May 22nd. So, that is an option available to you, my dear podcast community listener. Now, if for whatever reason you're not able to go to the show notes, You can email me melissa. larina at gmail. com m e l i s s a dot l l a r e n a at gmail. com. Again, this will be in the show notes. Here's what I want to say, here's what sets me apart in terms of as a coach to mom founders. So I, as I said earlier, I totally skip gatekeepers. And I know that it might feel a little eclectic, a little direct, a little, Oh my God, who does she think she is? But here's the reality of the matter. I always aim to get on the shortest supermarket line. Okay, hear me out. So I have several strategies that I have leveraged in order to bring the guests that I have on my podcast, whether it's been Beth Comstock, the former CMO of GE or Gary Vee, who has millions of people. Knocking at his digital door. I have absolutely never found a situation where I am working through someone to get to someone to get to someone else. It's been direct, I have not had a PR agency, and it's worked for me, a mom founder with three kids. So I want to teach you how to do the same exact thing so that this way, this summer, you already have a lot of hot irons out there in the fire, right? That are out there and can absolutely produce the results you need when the time comes, whether in the summer or in September, when you have full focus of your business and what you want to accomplish next. Okay. So I want to leave it there. I also want to say that You can email me melissa. larina at gmail. com. If you are an entrepreneur or you are an investor, you're absolutely welcome to have a conversation with me. If you are looking to tackle another list or another outreach effort in this very way. I am not going to offer this VIP day for someone that is not a mom, because what I know to be true is that a lot of times we have had to, as moms, pause our careers, slow down our efforts or downshift what we've been doing in the world of work. And I want to help moms very specifically fast track their success. So this way you could have the right conversations, you can get into the right rooms and you could absolutely have the success that you deserve and that you're deserving. children would want you to have two. Could you imagine that? Could you imagine, could you imagine, just imagine for a second, your child seeing you on that three hour zoom call, right? Like from a distance, let's say they're having a snack and they're with a childcare provider with your partner, or they're being entertained in some way. And they're seeing mommy. Get it done. They're seeing mommy like on zoom, just like zooming through a list. They're seeing mommy like show up for herself, right? They're seeing mommy not waste time by second guessing herself, because here's the reality. Our kids think that we're like amazing sometimes. Imagine if you felt the same way. Imagine if you actually believed that you were as amazing as your kids see you. Imagine that. Yeah. So let's kind of Melissa dot Lorena at gmail. com and me, but go to the show notes and be sure to sign up for the time. Alrighty. Enjoy the rest of the day. Next week we're going to have Zibi Owens, again, one of the most influential people in the publishing industry in New York on the podcast. We're going to go over so many things that are unexpected, including how having an MBA versus being a mom. Compare and contrast, right? What are some leadership skills that we have learned as moms that we did not learn in our Ivy League MBA educations? I think you're going to absolutely enjoy that conversations. It is amazing and we really get to it. So have a wonderful day and do not hesitate to reach out to me. I actually want to hear from you because I want to know How I can support you, I have seen way too many mom founders second guessing themselves, assuming that they're not, you know, worthy of success and really self sabotaging your own progress. And I want to help you stop that so that this way everyone can be happier. Thank you very much.

This episode sums ups exactly what the In Between podcast represents. We can get so fixated on achieving our goals, hitting certain outcomes, and the end destination, that we rush through the journey and even end up resenting how long it takes to get us there. How do we embrace the journey, the in between, the limbo of where we are now and where we want to be? Astrid and Alexis share an honest account of how they approach this in business, wellness, finances and more. //@inbetween.pod//@astridjohanaphoto//@alexisteichmiller

Bob Woodson is Founder and President of the Woodson Center and 1776 Unites. He is an influential leader on issues of poverty alleviation and empowering disadvantaged communities to become agents of their own uplift. Woodson is a frequent advisor to local, state and federal government officials as well as business and philanthropic organizations. His social activism dates back to the 1960s, when as a young civil rights activist he developed and coordinated national and local community revitalization programs. During the 1970's he directed the National Urban League's Administration of Justice division. Later he served as a Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. Currently he is the Founder and President of The Woodson Center where he's on a mission to help residents of low-income neighborhoods address the problems of their communities. Bob joins me today to discuss his approach to dealing with race relations in America and what he believes is a huge problem; the disconnection between work and income, in underserved communities. “People are inspired to change and improve and cooperate when you can show them examples of victories that are possible, not always reminding them of injuries to be avoided.” - Bob Woodson One of the most powerful metaphors about that makes a difference is that to some on the left, Hank Aaron was the strikeout king. But to some of us who look at the glass as being half full, he was the home run king. It depends upon what your perspective is. - Bob Woodson “You should always look for antibodies. Even in the worst communities, there are healthy elements that I call community antibodies. If you say that 70% of the people in that community are raising children that are dysfunctional, it means 30% or not. You can learn nothing from studying failure except how to create failure.” - Bob Woodson This week on The Wow Factor: How Bob's upbringing inspired him to work in Civil Rights The breakdown of the traditional American Family Why you can't define Black America by slavery The importance of looking for the solution to every problem Why you can't judge people by their past When you give freely, don't give with the expectation that you will be thanked Why you must stay faithful to what you do and not be so attached to the outcome of what you're doing Why America is a country of redemption Bob Woodsons Words of Wisdom: When you give freely, don't give with the expectation that you're going to be thanked. In today's episode, we delve into the transformative power of mindset with our esteemed guest, Ben Spangl. As an experienced mindset and performance coach, Ben provides a wealth of knowledge on embracing a growth mindset, seizing opportunities, and utilizing tools such as visualization and meditation to conquer fears and doubts. He emphasizes the potency of mindfulness in reprogramming limiting beliefs and transcending challenges. This episode is brimming with practical strategies from Ben, aimed at liberating you from restrictive thought patterns and guiding you towards your ideal future. For anyone seeking to learn from a top-tier coach who truly embodies his teachings, this episode is a must-listen! Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Embracing abundance as opportunities How to disconnect yourself from the fear of rejection Unlocking the power of the subconscious The power of meditation Overcoming crises and reaching new heights The power of meditation Episode Highlights: [06:53] Embracing Abundance as Opportunities Everyone aspires for a life filled with abundance, often equated with financial wealth. However, true abundance extends far beyond monetary riches. It encapsulates a rich life teeming with abundant health, relationships, lifestyle, spiritual fulfillment and yes, financial wealth too. This concept aligns with various beliefs, referred to as the 'field' in science or God, source, and the universe in different ideologies. There's a fundamental intelligence guiding life that can deliver our desires. However, it's crucial to remember that navigating the path to our goals doesn't require us to decipher every intricate detail. Fixating on a rigid step-by-step plan could blind us to potential opportunities. Therefore, maintaining an open mindset is key to embracing the abundant life we yearn for. [19:47] How to Disconnect Yourself From the Fear of Rejection One of the ways Ben worked to disconnect from the fear of rejection was through systematically desensitizing himself to it over time. He references the concept of systematic desensitization taught by Steve Siebold, which involves gradually exposing yourself to what you fear in a controlled way to lessen its impact. In sales, Ben faced rejection repeatedly by putting himself out there more and more, which helped him realize he could withstand it. This process of facing rejection bit by bit through his actions and experiences helped reprogram his mindset around it by showing him rejection was not as threatening as he once thought. It became something he could better handle and not take as personally. [24:24] Reprogramming the Mind: Unlocking the Power of Your Subconscious We're all programmed in various ways, with our brain functioning as a supercomputer. The term 'garbage in, garbage out' not only applies to computing but also to our lives. If we consistently generate undesirable outcomes, like financial struggles, it's not our fault but an issue with our mental programming. We harbor unworkable beliefs that shape our behaviors and affect what we attract in life. Understanding this, the key lies in learning how to rewrite these programs at a deep, unconscious level. The subconscious mind, which constitutes 95% of our personality, dictates our thoughts, actions, feelings and even our biological functions. In contrast, our conscious mind accounts for a mere 5%. Despite knowing consciously what we should do to improve our health or increase our wealth, we often don't act on it. This discrepancy arises when our conscious desires haven't permeated our subconscious, leading to a mismatch. In such cases, the emotional, subconscious mind invariably triumphs. [14:00] What's the Importance of Protein to Aging and Metabolic Health? ● Protein is a critical macronutrient, especially as we age, as it helps stimulate muscle protein synthesis and maintain lean muscle tissue. ● Contrary to previous beliefs, older individuals need more protein to combat muscle loss and support insulin sensitivity. ● The minimum recommended protein intake per meal is 30 grams for most people, with some individuals requiring more based on their needs. ● Properly understanding portion sizes and macronutrient combinations is essential for optimizing protein intake. ● Inadequate protein consumption may contribute to the metabolic health crisis, emphasizing the importance of including enough protein in one's diet as they age. [18:06] Change Your Perspective and Support Your Overall Health! ● Cancer is a multifactorial disease influenced by various factors, including diet, lifestyle, environmental exposures, and even emotional health. ● Fixating on a single aspect, such as excess protein intake and mTOR activation, oversimplifies the complex nature of cancer development. ● Chronic and habitual one-meal-a-day (OMAD) fasting can lead to metabolic distress, muscle loss, and hinder metabolic health. ● Individuals must shift away from restrictive dieting and nourish their bodies with adequate nutrition to support overall health. ● Society's disordered relationship with food, body image, and weight contributes to unhealthy dietary and lifestyle practices and the rise of unhealthy diet culture. [29:35] Here's What You Need To Know About Animal and Plant-Based Protein ● The amino acid composition of animal-based protein is superior to that of plant-based protein. ● When choosing plant-based protein, it's essential to be cautious about consuming excessive carbohydrates to meet protein intake goals. ● Metabolic health and insulin sensitivity are significant in determining the ability to handle plant-based protein, particularly for those in perimenopause and menopause. ● The Protein Leverage Hypothesis highlights the importance of adequate protein intake for satiety and blood sugar regulation. ● Starting the day with a higher protein meal can lead to greater satiety and reduced cravings throughout the day, promoting healthier eating habits. [35:25] How Do You Get More Protein while Intermittent Fasting? Check this out! ● Adjust your fasting and feeding windows to make it more manageable to consume an adequate amount of protein. ● Slowly increase protein intake to reach your target, especially if you are metabolically healthy. ● Use tracking apps like Chronometer to get a clear picture of your daily protein intake. ● Consider incorporating a high-quality protein shake or amino acids if you struggle to meet your protein goals through whole foods. ● Bio-individuality plays a significant role in choosing protein sources and added ingredients, so find what works best for your digestion and preferences. [46:14] Fasting for Menopausal Women and Its Benefits and Considerations ● Focus on managing stress and improving sleep before diving into fasting for postmenopausal women. ● Fasting should be considered one of many strategies and should not be added without addressing foundational issues like sleep and stress. ● Individualize fasting strategies for postmenopausal women and use them as a beneficial stressor rather than overloading the body. ● Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a valid option for menopausal women but should be approached with informed decision-making and working with healthcare providers. ● Understand the hormonal changes in the body during menopause and their influence on fasting and health, including estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. [56:08] Strategic Application of Stressors: Hormesis and Fasting ● Utilize hormetic stressors like fasting, exercise, and cold exposure to promote resilience and strength. ● Be strategic with stressors by understanding genetic susceptibility and personal tolerances. ● For some, long fasting, categorized as more than 24 hours, may not be suitable, especially for lean middle-aged individuals, due to concerns about muscle loss. ● Consider gender-specific and age-specific factors when determining the best fasting regimens. ● Monitor health markers, including muscle mass and immune system function, to make informed decisions about fasting strategies. [1:02:00] Achieving Autophagy and Hormetic Stress ● While eating breakfast can be challenging for some, the goal is to consume most of your daily calories earlier, optimizing cortisol levels and insulin sensitivity. ● The timing of meals affects the body's balance of hormones like ghrelin and leptin. ● Blue light exposure, especially at night, can disrupt hormonal rhythms and affect hunger hormones. ● Scientific studies may vary in their findings regarding hormone levels, but real-world results and individual experiences should guide your eating schedule. ● Monitoring your feelings, energy levels, weight loss, mood, and sleep quality is crucial in determining the right breakfast timing. [1:09:00] What effects on your health do environmental toxins have? Reduce Your Risk! ● HRV (Heart Rate Variability) varies significantly from person to person due to genetic and individual factors, making it crucial to establish a personal baseline and progress over time. ● Comparing your HRV to others can lead to frustration and unrealistic expectations, as it's heavily influenced by age, genetics, and other factors. ● Environmental factors, such as mold exposure and EMF radiation, can profoundly affect health, leading to symptoms like poor sleep, weight gain, and inflammation. ● Sensitivity to environmental stressors differs among individuals, making some more like "canaries in the coal mine" who react strongly to these exposures. ● Identifying and addressing environmental contributors to health issues is vital to a holistic approach to well-being. Paul Nunes has found that what matters is not just climbing your current S-curve, which is what you do to reach the top of a single successful business. Instead, he emphasises the equal importance of the moves you must make to your next business: making the jump to your future S-curve. His book reveals crucial insights for making such transitions, including: * Why traditional strategic planning won't allow you to find the "big-enough" market insights that are critical to superior performance * Why your top team must be refreshed before performance starts to wane * Why you need much more talent than you think, especially "serious talent" that will find you worthy of their time We welcome back for Par 2, “Jumping the S-Curve: How to Beat the Growth Cycle, Get on Top, and Stay There”, Paul Nunes. 00:00:00.094 Introduction and Importance of Recognizing Stall Points 00:01:51.468 The Real Question: Where Are You in Your Products? 00:09:00.634 Shifting Focus from Cool Phone Features to Reliable Networks 00:12:42.280 Potential Impact of 20% Price Increase on Buyers 00:12:49.050 The Power of Pricing and Competitors 00:15:46.209 The Importance of Scaling and Servicing Demand 00:19:14.833 Strategic Flexibility and Divestment for High Performers 00:23:15.986 The Danger of Fixating on Efficiency and Cost Management 00:25:00.592 Focusing on current success, time to think about next steps 00:29:03.240 The importance of seeing the bigger picture and avoiding tunnel vision 00:32:45.856 Waiting too long for the next big move 00:35:03.439 The Challenge of Technological Obsolescence 00:38:50.137 The Need for Resale Markets and Recycling 00:42:11.000 Letting Go of Stranded Assets in Business 00:46:44.796 Borrowing vs. Profits: Paying off the Mortgage 00:50:47.794 Add-Centric Strategy: Edge of the Organization and Edge of Chaos 00:57:29.565 The Nature of Strategic Transitions and Leadership Selection 01:02:34.211 Changing Management Succession and Ownership of Capabilities 01:05:34.274 Establishing Hotbed Conditions for Talent Development 01:10:28.171 Investing in People and Building Capable Teams

Fixating on a goal score can be counterproductive. The only way to improve on the LSAT is to focus on understanding one question at a time. Today, Ben and Nathan offer listeners advice on topics ranging from finding study motivation to overcoming a low UGPA using the LSAT as your not-so-secret weapon. Plus, a couple of pre-law lovebirds wrote into the show this week, and the guys try their hand at relationship advice. They'd rather you go for the happy relationship than end up star-crossed attorneys in debt. LSAT Demon LSAT Demon iOS App LSAT Demon Daily Watch Episode 394 on YouTube Thinking LSAT YouTube LSAT Demon YouTube 0:00 - When Should You Quit? - An anonymous student is looking for guidance after they believe some barriers kept them from achieving a higher LSAT score. The guys weigh in with their thoughts on whether this student should work to raise their LSAT score or cut their losses and choose a different career path. Bottom line: Don't take the official test again until you're ready. 6:52 - Set Smaller Goals - Listener Christopher tells Ben and Nathan that he signs up for official LSAT test dates to stay motivated. The guys offer advice on how to study effectively and how to know when you're ready to sign up for the official test. Don't squander your limited attempts at the official LSAT—take it only when you're happy with your practice test score range. 19:43 - Focus on Your Successes, Not Your Failures - Listener Jason asks Ben and Nathan how to explain that his grades dropped during the year that Covid forced classes online. The guys' advice: Focus on positive facts about your stats—get the highest LSAT score you can, and don't blame your undergrad institution for your lower grades. 28:37 - LSAT Scores Stay on Record for Five Years - Listener William is committed to going to law school only if it's free. But he won't be applying for four more years. Is it too early to start prepping for the LSAT? Ben and Nathan let William know that he's doing everything the right way, but he should read the fine print on LSAC's website or talk directly to a representative at LSAC to get the answer to this question. 32:02 - Lovebirds in Law School - An anonymous couple applying to law school together ask Ben and Nathan if they should take full-ride offers at a lower-ranked school or pay for the prestige that comes with attending a higher-ranked school. They share their dreams of being a law-school power couple, and the guys caution them about the road they're about to embark on. 43:01 - Law School or Love? - An anonymous listener shares a Reddit post asking whether to write an addendum for low stats on law school applications. Anonymous says he's limited to school in Los Angeles because he wants to be with the woman of his dreams. He's worried that a subpar LSAT and UGPA will keep him from his betrothed. Ben and Nathan suggest that the woman of your dreams is more important than going to a bad law school with low stats. They advise Anonymous to give up the law dream for now and go get the girl. 50:47 - Speed Reading Isn't Reading - Demon teacher Kevin shares a motivational quote that he found relevant to studying for the LSAT. Ben and Nathan agree. You can't “speed read” and actually comprehend everything you're reading. 52:26 - Do Soft Factors Help? - Listener John writes in to ask if his “soft” factors will help him overcome a low UGPA on his law school applications. The guys tell John that the best way to overcome a low UGPA is to get the highest LSAT score you can get. A T-14 school might not be attainable with his UGPA, but a high LSAT will give him the best shot. 59:13 - Demon Student Admissions Update - An anonymous former Demon student shares their stats and their current law school admissions results —including scholarship offers that came in even higher than expected. Ben and Nathan congratulate Anonymous and remind listeners that hard work pays off.
