Though just 21, Chris Deuto has already amassed an impressive lifetime of climbing since first starting the sport at age 7. Having ticked 5.14c and V14 and done national-level competitions, Chris has shifted his focus to more alpine-centered climbs, from Aconcagua to Fitz Roy. Most recently, he made the first free rope-solo winter ascent of the Diamond face of Long's Peak in his home state of Colorado. Chris has consciously brought his process-centered approach to the forefront of his climbing, seeking richer experiences rather than just focusing on grades. But first, your second favorite conspiracy-addled climbing podcasters discuss the curious appearance of "bolts" (big scare quotes) beneath a petroglyph in northeastern Utah. Where did these so-called "bolts" come from, and why, exactly, are climbers to blame? The mystery deepens... Both wings of the Uniparty continue to use real human lives as pawns for power.2) What do Luke Combs, Jerry Seinfeld, and Shane Gillis have in common (besides that they're all WHITE celebrity men)? Converting to Gas: Abram wants to replace an electric dryer with a gas dryer. It should be easy for a plumber to tap into the gas line and make sure it's safe. Industrial Floor: Linda needs suggestions for flooring in an industrial building. She'll need to remove loose paint from the old cement floor and then apply two-part epoxy paint for a durable surface. Uneven Deck: A floating deck that's covering a cistern is heaving and uneven. Steve should take the deck apart, reframe it with better footings, and consider using composite materials with an access panel for the cistern. Concrete Basement Floor: The concrete basement floor is crumbling and flaking. Mary should improve her outside drainage first, then use a cement patching compound and some epoxy floor paint to seal the surface. Leaking Roof: Rain is leaking through the roof where it connects to the wall of an addition. We tell Steve how to remove the siding and improve the flashing to seal the space. Radiant Heated Floor: Jeanette has questions about installing radiant heated flooring in her bathroom and kitchen. The Government's warning about a 'no frills' Budget is tempering expectations about a big climate spend - right when some argue it is desperately needed. There are concerns the cost of living crisis and cyclone recovery could swamp critical spending to reduce emissions. Climate reporter Hamish Cardwell has the story.
Expectations are being kept very low for the 18 May Budget, so any surprises can have maximum political impact. With a tight election looming, Labour will want to offer a proverbial carrot to voters - and could yet campaign on changes to the tax system after that milestone. But staring down the unavoidable cost of recovering from Cyclone Gabrielle and tackling rising living costs, leader Chris Hipkins is touting this year's spend as "no frills" with a sharp focus on infrastructure. In this week's Focus on Politics, Political Editor Jane Patterson examines the impetus and politics behind renewed calls for major tax changes.
The Prime Minister has hosed down the idea of a capital gains tax.. a day after his government released a report highlighting the unfairness in the tax system. Speaking to a business crowd in Auckland, Chris Hipkins promised there would be no new taxes in the Budget, ruling out a Capital Gains Tax, wealth tax, and Cyclone levy. He says Labour will make its tax policy clear ahead of the election - and wouldn't rule out changes to the income tax thresholds. RNZ political reporter Giles Dexter has the details.

This is an area we have definitely covered before but it's one of perennial interest and keeps coming round with new studies, how can we tell what ancient animals were doing with weird features. More specifically, how do claims that this feather, or sail, or frill, or claw were used as a display feature stack up? Can we really work out what dinosaurs are doing with features like this and how can we test such ideas with such limited data when they've been gone for 65 million years? Well happily Dave is going to talk through some more of it again, with a side dabble into another bit of dinosaur behaviour and looking at predation vs scavenging. Even if you're living alone on a tropical island you've likely heard the online trend of syncing your menstrual cycle with your exercise. Is it real? Or just another way to keep women small? I've taken my time bringing this conversation to the stage because I had a single woman in mind to bring on the show to discuss it. Dr. Alyssa Olenick has a Ph.D. in exercise physiology and specifically studies the impact of female hormones on training, adaptation and recovery. We share a vibrant (read: passionately pissed) conversation about the cycle syncing trend and whether you should be changing your exercise each week of your cycle. Alyssa is one of my favourite female scientists and I was thrilled we could share this conversation together. What we covered in this episode: What is “cycle syncing” and what happens through your cycle with respect to exercise. What the research actually says about hormones and training. Our thoughts on the commodification of women's menstrual cycles and how this particular trend might be causing women to move less. Enjoy the episode, and give Dr. Alyssa Olenick a follow @doclyssfitness Dr. Alyssa Olenick holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and is a certified sports nutritionist and Crossfit Level 1 Trainer. Alyssa completed her doctoral training in exercise and post-prandial metabolism. Specifically in the areas of metabolic flexibility, sex differences and menstrual cycle physiology. This episode is INSPIRING! We had so much fun hosting YouTube star, and badass businesswoman Fiona Frills, on the show! Although Fiona is uber-successful now (her makeup line is in 400+ Walmart stores nationwide and she has a FIRE YT channel with over a million subscribers!) she had to overcome some serious *ish to get there, from bullying, learning disabilities, finding out she was legally blind and all sorts of other setbacks in her short 18 years on this planet! We love this episode because Fiona really embodies this idea of being able to find her CHILL despite all her struggles. No matter what she always kept going and advocating for her dreams. Hopefully, this inspires y'all to keep working at becoming the best version of yourselves, we know it inspired us! Chase your dreams despite the odds, you got this, we believe in you too Chill Fam :)
In any given industry, suppliers are a dime a dozen.Generally, so long as there's a demand to be met, there's bound to be a heck load of entrepreneurs who will want to cater to it. It's no secret how cutthroat the business world can be.One way to rise above the competition is to create your own demand in a given industry.Problem is, most entrepreneurs aren't creative enough to create the demand, and thus, they get the wrong notion of having to “scrape the bottom of the barrel” because they weren't first to arrive at the scene…Here's where Len Yakuber and Devin Dollar come in to brighten your day!Growing your business and achieving the success you desire DOES NOT REQUIRE you to be “First”.Sometimes, it's all about injecting sophistication into a commonly unsophisticated product/service/industry.Len is the COO of Corporate Cleaning Group Franchise Systems and is the founder of Corporate Cleaning Group. After seeing an opportunity to bring sophistication to the cleaning industry, Len started One Source Cleaning Inc in 1993, which evolved into Corporate Cleaning Group.Devin is the CEO of Corporate Cleaning Group Franchise Systems, LLC. He currently oversees sales and marketing, as well as franchise development. Joining forces with Len in 2003, CCG opened its 2nd location in Lenexa, KS. Devin reached his goal of being the largest cleaning service contract provider for churches in Kansas, and to this day still holds the cleaning contract for the largest church in North America.Together, Len and Devin lead the company with the focus on “Custom” in Customer Service. In a densely populated industry, Corporate Cleaning Group has become the customers' “go-to” because they heard the customers, and now, they provide EXACTLY what customers NEED.Frills are nice to have (only on the side)…BUT Corporate Cleaning Group's Unique Selling Proposition has always been the sophistication that precision, accuracy, and being “deliberate” provides! Not up to the task of re/creating a demand? Why not invest in (and learn from) an already successful brand through franchising!Let's set you up with the perfect fit franchise so you can start your journey towards entrepreneurial success, TODAY!Tune in to our Podcast to learn more about everything you WANT and NEED on franchising, investment, financing processes and options. This is Eye On Franchising, where we share our vision for your franchise future. https://www.facebook.com/lance.graulichhttps://ionfranchising.com/https://eyeonfranchising.com
