In this episode, I sit down with confidence coach Sue Reid for an honest and empowering conversation about what it really means to have self-confidence. We talk about the moments in life that can shake our belief in ourselves, how old patterns keep us playing small, and why building confidence is often less about doing more—and more about how we see and value ourselves. Sue shares thoughtful insight on how to recognize if you might be struggling with confidence, and what it actually takes to begin shifting that. From emotional resilience to the power of community, we explore what it means to grow confidence from the inside out—and why even small steps can change everything. Three Takeaways: Confidence isn't just about what you can do, it's about how you see yourself. The way we treat ourselves quietly shapes everything, especially our ability to grow. Who you spend time with matters more than you think when it comes to personal change. Self-confidence isn't about what you can do – it's about how you see yourself and what you believe you're worth. Confidence is an essential part of loving yourself. It's a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of their own abilities and qualities. Yet, there's often an aspect that gets in the way of true, sustainable confidence and that's how we view and think of our physical form. When we are not happy with our bodies, our confidence tends to tank. I sat down with Esther Avant, sports nutritionist, personal trainer, health and weight loss coach, and owner of EA Coaching. Together, we move through building confidence, the important steps we all must take to properly care for our bodies and minds, and we even dive into how women over 40 can best change their mindset as they age. So, let's dive right in! Key Takeaways: 00:00 Introduction 02:20 Esther's background and her stance on health, mindset, and confidence 04:30 Letting go of the idea of All-or-Nothing 08:50 You must repair your self-reputation 12:19 Putting intent behind the action gives you the outcome 15:10 Creating the emotional connection behind your “why” 17:15 Consistency creates long-term change and motivation 21:33 “What's more than nothing?” Giving yourself credit… 23:06 Decoupling exercise and nutrition 33:49 The rude awakening of white knuckling your way into weight and confidence 39:50 Celebrating yourself and wins is the way to build confidence 43:30 It's not your verse the world! Accountability partners for health and confidence 46:28 There's nothing magical about 10K steps. Check your facts 48:10 Women over 40, listen up! 50:28 Pushing through to create change 1:02 Esther's 3 I hope you loved this conversation as much as I did! Esther is a true authority in this field! Confidence doesn't have to be as complicated as we make it. The biggest questions: am I best supporting myself mentally, emotionally, and physically? Is my inner dialogue working to my benefit? What do I need to do to change my habits? These are important questions to be asking yourself. If you want to grab your free weight loss cheat sheet or learn more about Esther, head to her website: estheravant.com or visit her on Instagram or Facebook at @estheravant. The Executive Code - Personal Mastery Insights with Paul Davis
Self-confidence is one of the main elements that holds people back, and there is a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding about confidence. Yet it's impossible to thrive and reach our highest potential in our personal or professional life if our confidence is low. It impacts how visible we will make ourselves. It determines whether we control our own agenda and our time. It determines our ability to say no when we need to. As a business, our earnings or the fees that we charge will be in proportion to how confident we are. We won't drive ourselves forward as much as others that are more confident. It literally touches every aspect of our life. So what can we do to build self-confidence? In this episode of The Executive Code podcast, I explain the difference between competence and confidence, as well as the three pillars of each that make for maximum self-confidence. For the longest time, I pursued goals because I thought they were the right things to chase, not really knowing if I personally, truly believed in them. I quit working in the fitness industry to pursue a career as a teacher.I did my Masters in Educational Leadership & Learning.I climbed the ladder of formal rewards to become a Principal in schools. While I'm grateful for many of these accomplishments, in each of them there was an element of “this is what I am supposed to do”. It wasn't until I was well into creating the Just Keep Learning Podcast that I realized how different it feels to pursue the goal that I personally am driven by. And I want that exact same feeling for you. In order to have that exact same feeling though, it can help to understand a bit about why we may not be in control in the first place.**For the full written version of episode see the transcript. This week it's time to get real. Lots of us have been in that slow slide down towards a rock bottom, sometimes for years (and years…) while a part of us watches and wonders if this is all we get. Today I'm going to talk about what I learned about myself through and after all that pain. Pain can teach us. How we respond to pain is something we can change, if we want to.I'm inviting you, this week, to consider how you want to respond to your own rock bottom.Get full show notes and more info here:https://coachalexray.com/podcast/85 Get on the best email list for building your confidence.Sign up to receive my free 21 Sassy Affirmations for ConfidenceReady to take your confidence to the next level?Join Confident Queer™

This week's podcast is about the rubber hitting the road. In some ways, kinda literally! I keep talking about having your own back, so let's talk about one way that can, and did, happen in my life.I really love to support my friends, sometimes showing up in support ends up being more than I have capacity for. Then there is the decision to stay or go.This week we're going to talk through how to make decisions for ourselves. This isn't easy but I'm here to tell you, making a decision on purpose supports everyone. You got this, promise.Get full show notes and more info here:https://coachalexray.com/podcast/84 Get on the best email list for building your confidence.Sign up to receive my free 21 Sassy Affirmations for ConfidenceReady to take your confidence to the next level?Join Confident Queer™
Today is a great day to talk about relationships. In the movies and on TV, they all seem to just happen, as if by magic. Two people in the right spot at the right time? Boom! Done! There isn't much we see, growing up or grown up about what it takes to be ready and actually available mentally and emotionally when that relationship does show up. So I'm here, laying out what work I've done, and keep doing, to help this relationship thing happen. We've all got our own work to do, but let's work together, we can get so much more done.
This week let's be in the moment. I've got a moment of calm for you, and a moment on the relationship between discomfort and what's happening around us. When we're in the uncomfortable moments, all we want is calm and quiet. Then it seems calm creates it's own type of uncomfortable motivation to begin again. So let's just take some space for being a messy human being. It's ok. Whatever is happening right now, you've got this too.Get full show notes and more info here:https://coachalexray.com/podcast/82
I was thinking about you and about how s*x is one of the hardest (pun intended?) places to really feel confident. So I decided to tell you 3 totally embarrassing stories about my s*x life.I wanted you to know that I'm out here living this confidence thing, getting uncomfortable and living to tell all the tales. I really wanted you to know, so you can learn to do it too.Or maybe you just want to hear some crazy s*x stories. Either way.Enjoy!
I'm so pleased to introduce you to my amazing friend and colleague Simone Seol! She is a marketing coach who walks the walk. And we had such a fun (and slightly anxiety inducing) conversation about the ways we've f***ed up and learned.Enjoy this conversation as we get a little naked, figuratively, and chat about our life and coaching experiences. Some of them were terrible and we're not here to sugar coat it.And tomorrow tune in for a special bonus part two where Simone and I share how we are working on being the change we want to see in our industry. This is for coaches and people who are getting coaching too. Coaching is an amazing tool, but the industry has done a sucky job of valuing safety and consent.Simone and I are committed to changing that.Get full show notes and more info here:https://coachalexray.com/podcast/80-2

I have an amazing human to introduce you to this week. My client, coach colleague, academic and fellow ADHDer, Jacy Tackett. We started with hypocrisy, detoured through philosophy, got a little caught up with duality in coaching, cruzed around in sales processes and ended up with consent and so much more between. It has been such a pleasure to be on her team and I'm thrilled to share her with you.We had so much fun together I had to split it up into two episodes. Can't wait to see you there.Get full show notes and more info here:https://coachalexray.com/podcast/79-2
Hello! I'm back from being off in July - I hope you are enjoying your summer! When I was doing the last episode - Ep. 25 (Part 1) I decided that it deserved a 2-part episode. So in that episode - Part 1 - we talked about How to Stop Making Assumptions - and today, we'll talk about 5 effective techniques to help not take things so personally. These 2 episodes go hand-in-hand, in my opinion. If you haven't listened to Episode 25, I'd say listen to that first, and then come back to this one. They flow nicely together.—----Subscribe to You Can Do Amazing Things and if you would please leave a rating and review - that would mean the world to me! xo - HollieI'd love to connect!DM me on Instagram @hollierumman | Leave me a voicemail >> Website

In this episode I share some thoughts with the usage of social media filters and how I began to question my own use with them. As you may remember, filters once started as a much more animated and obvious thing - turning you into the Grinch during the holidays or adding heart eyes during Valentine's Day. But they've since evolved into filters that change the way people look in the most subtle and oftentimes, not subtle ways, that skew features and beauty we perceive as real. Filters used to be a thing that gave my confidence a little boost, but now I see them as something that actually chips away at it. Listen in to how I believe filters may be doing more harm than they are good.Resources:GoodrThis episode was brought to you by my favorite active sunglasses, Goodr.
