With Confetti In Our Hair: Celebrating The Artistry & Music Of Tom Waits
This time around finds the Dream Regime on their own, sans Bob, falling into a reflective discussion about respect, empathy and filling stations. Not to worry though, as their waxing philosophic is accompanied by great classic 70s Waits' tunes like Barbershop, Kentucky Avenue and Romeo is Bleeding. Then, be sure to stick around after the finale to hear the September 2017 Live performance of Respect Yourself by Mavis Staples at Lagunitas Brewing company in Petaluma, California with a surprise guest appearance by Tom Waits, his last live music performance as far as we know. In this episode, we're diving into the essential connection between macros and mindset—because you can't have one without the other. While many focus purely on strategy, like tracking macros and structuring workouts, real transformation happens when mindset and tools come together. I'll break down why how you approach macro counting matters just as much as the numbers themselves. Plus, we'll explore key mindset shifts that drive consistency, break the cycle of self-sabotage, and create lasting change. If you've ever felt stuck in a start-and-stop pattern or wondered whether to prioritize mindset or strategy, this episode will bring the clarity you need. We've covered Deion Sanders and Eddie Murphy on the podcast, but there's still a treasure trove of celebrities turned musicians to discuss. However, the case of Bruce Willis is extra strange. A year before Die Hard transformed him from a TV star to a full-blown movie star, he released the album The Return of Bruno, featuring the Top 10 hit "Respect Yourself." This album of mostly cover songs was released on Motown Records and received very modest reviews from critics. But will Bruce Willis get modest reviews from the harsh critics of One Hit Thunder? There's a far worse Grinch than the Grinch that stole Christmas, and unfortunately that Grinch, the Negativity Grinch, lives in our own minds much of the time. Yet negativity, in and of itself, doesn't have to be a Grinch. In this podcast you'll discover how to use negativity in its right and proper way, so that the Negativity Grinch doesn't take over and suck the very joy out of your life. https://www.youtube.com/@Dr.NoelleNelsonUp

Do you RESPECT Yourself? YES/NO/Why? Do you want other people to respect you? YES/NO/Why? How do we inspire self-respect in ourselves so we can live the example for our future adults?
Episode 375: Respecting Yourself Episode NotesI find inspiration in artists and musicians, especially during times of growth. Playing piano and journaling helps me express my emotions and relieve stress. How do you find inspiration during times of transition? As I was getting ready to talk about the importance of self-respect, I decided to dance to the songs Respect by Aretha Franklin and Respect Yourself by The Staple Singers. You might too.Why is respecting oneself essential for leadership growth? Respect for ourselves and others is crucial for personal identity and healthy relating. It becomes even more critical as leaders because we set an example for those around us. If we don't have self-respect, we may allow others to cross our boundaries and take unnecessary risks. This can hinder our growth as leaders and damage our relationships.Respect has a give-n-take element to it that researchers refer to as reciprocity. We speak kindly to one another, and they are more inclined to talk kindly back. If we respond defensively in a conversation, the other person might match or elevate the intensity of the conversation. When we respect ourselves, we set boundaries, communicate our needs clearly, and let others know our expectations. If there is a conflict or misunderstanding, effort is put toward understanding each other and talking openly about what we are experiencing. This may involve apologizing and starting the conversation again with a clear mindset. Ultimately, respect is a crucial factor in personal identity and interpersonal relationships. How can business owners create a healthy work environment?A business owner must create a healthy work environment based on respect. This means open communication and setting boundaries, rules, and limits to demonstrate respect by showing people you care. Honoring one's dignity and acting with integrity to foster emotional security and connection among employees is another way to express respect.Roles may be fluid in small businesses, so sharing power and empowering others to act positively is vital. I've learned that joining together to solve a problem works better than attacking each other. Think us against the problem.Encouraging a mentoring culture within a small team can lead to a more cohesive and interconnected working environment. This could mean teaching and learning each other's roles and responsibilities, creating opportunities to develop respect further. Ideas could be generated that improve teamwork and morale. In contrast, leading with a fixed mindset where roles and rules are unchanging can stifle innovation and respect, ultimately leading to an unhappy team and difficulty meeting individual needs. To overcome this, try being flexible and open to feedback. Create a mentoring environment to keep the focus on learning. Everyone can make mistakes and quickly learn while working to keep more revenue coming in than what is going out.The leaders I collaborate with are eager to learn how to foster healthy relationships in their workplaces and families, creating open systems. When change is necessary, I encourage my clients to take a step back, reflect, learn, and adapt. How I took a step back, reflected, learned, and adapted.Recently, I had three wake-up calls that prompted me to pause and reflect. I spent time exploring how I was not valuing myself and putting others in danger. I experienced a range of emotions as I had an epiphany. I identified the root cause of my need for speed and experimented with driving within the speed limit. Once I found the trigger for my adrenaline rush, I was able to confidently commit to respecting the rules of the road, thus respecting myself and not endangering others. The three wake-up calls started with a speeding ticket, followed by catching the flu, and then encountering a mishap with a web designer that almost resulted in the destruction of my wementor.com website. These events were disruptive enough to make me...

Written in Their Soul: The Stax Songwriting Demos (out now from Stax/Craft Recordings) is a treasure trove of lost soul & R&B recordings from the 60's and early 70's, many of which have never been heard before. Cheryl Pawelski personally had to comb through literally hundreds of hours of recordings in search of these hidden gems. It's a project two decades in the making. The result is a 7-disc set full of surprises - you get nascent versions of songs we know, like “Respect Yourself” and “(If Loving You is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right.”But the real thrill is the set's final three discs: 66 songs that were never released by anyone. Pawelski was working for Concord Music when she began this endeavor. That was 17 years ago. She now runs Omnivore Recordings. We discuss the detective work that went into the project. How she managed to wade through the massive amount of random recordings in search of these soul nuggets. She also talks about attending the box set premiere in Memphis with many of the surviving artists on this collection. Pawelski also give us insight into upcoming releases from Omnivore.
Remember that health, wealth, and success begins with self-respect: Prioritize your well-being and start that journey to personal growth.-Luca$. ---

Cyril. Laurent.
Today we listen to two versions of the song "Respect Yourself", the first by the Staple Singers, the second by Melissa Etheridge, many years later. Both songs arise from a context of the "stranger" who cries out to be seen and heard. Which is, of course, exactly what Jesus was about.

If we want more control in our lives then we should start with a greater understanding of the potential power in what we say to ourselves and others. All big changes of the world come from words. Bruce Lee once said “Don't speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy and cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself and you can change your life. What you're not changing, you're also choosing.”LETS GET SOCIALFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/happymindhappylifepodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/happymindhappylifepodcast/YouTube: https://youtube.com/channel/UCfoe-NlMXL8lY3rJV687wCQWebsite: https://happymindhappylife.buzzsprout.com Email Host: veryhappysonali@gmail.com

Adding color photography to his repertoire in the1970s, Manning amassed a large collection of private works over the following years. With the beginning of Gallery and Museum presentations in 2015, Manning's photography is now being presented in Exhibitions across the US, as well as world locations. Lucas Microphones, under Manning's guidance, have since become amongst the top high end recording devices in the audio world. In 1992, Chris Blackwell of Island Records fame sought out Manning as a partner to revitalize Blackwell's famous Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas, which Manning operated successfully for over 20 years. In Session With Marc David: A 48 Year Old Woman Ends The Battle With Her Body https://psychologyofeating.online/ss/ Are you ready to transform your relationship with food in a lasting and meaningful way? What if you could help others find the path to greater freedom and joy with food as well? Melanie is a 48-year-old yoga instructor who had no weight issues before her pregnancies. She then gained 65 pounds, which she has been unable to lose. Marc David, founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, explains to Melanie why dieting is not working for her, and describes what will help and why. Listen now! Key Insights: Even those who have no problem with weight can develop weight issues later in life and may find it difficult to lose the weight. Our bodies are constantly changing, and there can be a multitude of reasons weight loss isn't happening. The thyroid can be implicated in weight gain, so getting worked up by a medical practitioner is a key step in ruling out possible causes. Trying to lose weight can be a stressor. Dieting often makes the body hungry, stressed. Therefore, getting off the diet cycle and aligning with the long-term goal of sustainable, gentle weight loss is key. Eating too fast robs us of enjoying our food, as well as the sensation of satiation after a meal. Ironically, part of effective weight loss means owning the pleasure we receive from food. Why not allow yourself to slow down a little and truly savor every bite? Pleasure from a meal regulates the appetite. So, it is important to create a positive atmosphere for eating and to give time for cephalic phase digestive response of the body. With his dual training in clinical nutrition and psychology, Marc David has spent the last 40 years helping people around the world heal their relationship with food. As the founder of the Institute for the Psychology of Eating, he reaches millions each year through his books, speaking engagements, celebrated podcast series, and his internationally-acclaimed Mind Body Eating Coach Certification Training. Eating psychology expert Marc David offers insight into Sabine's weight gain and explains how she can lose the weight -- without trying so hard to do so. Listen now! Key Insights: The desire to lose weight can be more than just about looks. It can be about freedom and self-respect. A lot of people learn to respond to stress by turning to food or drink early in life. It takes time and patience to decouple stress and the eating/drinking response. There could be some benefits of carrying some extra weight. One can feel more grounded, solid, and stronger. Sometimes, life is asking you to go beyond a single-pointed focus on losing weight. It's asking us to step into our bodies and our lives, fully - as we are, right now. Your relationship with your body mirrors your relationship with life. How are you showing up for yourself? I wanted to create an episode that I thought would be really important for my young daughter to listen to. This episode is from the perspective of me talking to her. If you are able to communicate and teach these lessons to your own daughter, that is awesome. However, you can also listen to this podcast with her and use it as reference to talk about the different points. We will cover 8 life lessons every dad can teach his daughter: #1 - You are capable of solving problems yourself - You don't need to depend on anyone, especially a boy. Whether it's for emotional, financial, or any other support, you are totally capable of being self-sufficient and taking care of yourself.2 - You are perfect the way you are - Every person is unique and perfect in their own way. Nobody (including friends, family, the media, or anyone else) gets to dictate what perfection is. You are perfect the way you are. #3 - You can do anything boys can do - Now, I do think celebrating the differences between boys and girls (men and women) is good. We are different and that makes us each great. But you will not hear me say "that's for boys". You can work on cars, learn martial arts, or shoot a basketball. I will not limit you and don't let anyone else do it either. #4 - Stand your ground - You have a right to believe what you want. Protect and defend yourself as well as those you love. Your views are just as valuable as anyone else's. #5 - Your affection is yours to give - You have control over your body and get to choose who you want to give affection to. You should never feel obligated (even with family) to have to hug or kiss anyone. You affection is yours to give #6 - Be empathetic - Learn to put yourself in other people's shoes. This may include helping people or simply understanding someone else's perspective. Empathy is powerful. #7 - Respect Yourself and Others - Know your worth and learn how to say no. For others, you may not always agree with someone, but allow them to express their views. #8 - You are in charge of your emotions - You are the one who decides what something means. You get to choose your story and how things effect you. Just a tip, choosing happiness is a lot better but it's totally up to you. Well, we want to hear from you. Are there some other life lessons you think are valuable? Leave your feedback in the comments section below.
The Human Experience, Funding vs Doing your Passion, Value of Presence, Be true to yourself, Lead by example, Know Your Purpose, Love and Respect Yourself, Equal exchange of value, The art of receiving, Be aware of what you consume in all of your senses.
