This week I am talking about two types of confidence: the surface-level kind that relies on vocalising and trying to change people's opinions of you, and the deeper, intrinsic kind that indicates a true sense of self-worth. I reflect on my own journey from merely projecting confidence to really embodying it through shadow work and authenticity. If this is something you are working on right now, or feel like you want to learn more, join me as I explore what it takes to build true confidence from within. In this episode you will learn: The difference between surface-level confidence and true, deep-rooted confidence How “vocalising” shows up when you have surface-level confidence Why intrinsic self-worth is important for developing deep confidence Significance of shadow work and how it can help you become more confident - What were your key takeaways from this episode? Real confidence is not cold, detached, or uncaring. Quiet confidence is firm, but open and receptive. It embodies self-love, self-trust, and self compassion, which allows others to feel safe being their full selves in the presence of it. Once you're able to embody this energy from the inside out, then magnetism happens naturally. You can trust yourself to be selective, stand by your decisions, yet remain curious and open to differing ideas and opinions.Listen to this episode on how to achieve and embody quiet confidence from the inside out. TUNE IN TO LEARN: Do you always feel confident? I don't know a single person who does! In different situations I feel more or less confident. Confidence grows with more experience. But EVEN WHEN you have all the experience you still might feel NOT confident – delivering that speech, that pitch or making a video. Why is that? Shouldn't you feel more and more confident as you do the thing more?Maybe, but that's not what happens EVEN to top-level performers like Olympic athletes. In this podcast episode I'll share with you a 4-pillar framework to train your inner narrator, the conversation inside your head, which creates or steals your feeling of confidence that might either empower or undermine all the hard work you do. How to do your best at high-stakes, high-pressure moments? The answer is in your head. Let's get it out! Support the Show. Do you have self-confidence? Has self-doubt caused you to question whether you are enough or worthy? You can eliminate self-doubt (or at least alleviate it) by using communication strategies to take action and improve self-confidence. Check out episode 231 with Debra Roberts and learn more communication skills for handling difficult conversations. Where does self-doubt come from? Self-doubt, which results in overthinking, comes from how we were brought up. Our upbringing continues to be part of us, we carry it with us. In addition, self-doubt comes from how we've been culturally conditioned in society. But not to fear, you can eliminate self-doubt if you take action to change your mindset. We are constantly underestimating ourselves. Comparison and imposter syndrome play a significant part in self-doubt. Women often underestimate themselves internally and sometimes misrepresent themselves externally. The power of your voice to improve self-confidence They may be exceptional leaders and experts but misrepresent themselves, for example, in their voice, they don't project their voice, they don't speak with conviction. Another example is upspeak, which is when you end a statement with a question mark. Doing so makes you appear less credible. Punctuation will also make a difference in how confident and credible you seem. For example, when you introduce yourself, say your name and pause before going on to add more details. To use your voice to improve self-confidence, record yourself or have a friend or coach evaluate with you. Speak with conviction, smile, and keep your voice light as well as projected. In addition, have vocal variety, change your volume, pitch, and pace so that you come across with more interest. Another important factor for credibility is the power of the pause. When you don't pause, you can seem nervous and out of control to the audience. This is important because people don't listen well to people who seem out of control. So pause occasionally. Your voice can make you more interesting. Using your voice also helps build an emotional connection and trust with your community and audience. Read the full show notes and access all links. Many people need to become more confident, do you? Low self-esteem and a lack of confidence result in overthinking, poor decision-making, and a lack of positive action which produces minimal results. According to statistics, most people need help to become more confident. Statistics related to confidence Eighty-five percent of people lack self-esteem, men and women. If you lack self-esteem, you will likely have lower self-worth and less confidence. Some additional statistics related to confidence are: 85% of women do not believe they are attractive. 62% of women do not believe they are intelligent. 50% of women do not think they are liked by others. 2/3 of women aren't confident in their ability to do their job. These stats aren't exclusive to women, men struggle with confidence too. In fact, 55% don't think they are liked and 60% don't believe they can do their job. Lucy added the stats about when people apply for jobs. When men are 60% ready, they will go apply for jobs. But women won't apply for a job unless they are 100% sure they meet every requirement the job description specifies. This also applies to entrepreneurship. Lucy emphasized that being ready is a decision. 3 Steps to Become More Confident Decisions Know and visualize next steps Take action Read the full show notes and access all links here. Too much to do and not enough time? Have you been wondering how to create more time in your day? Me too! In today's episode, Sustainable Success Coach, Andrea Liebross and your host, Veronika, discuss how to BE successful without compromising your work/life balance. That's right! You don't have to work 24/7 to be successful. You don't have to sacrifice your personal time in order to be productive. Listen & learn how to create more time in your day. About Andrea Liebross: After graduating from Dartmouth College and marrying the guy that lived down the hall, Andrea Liebross and her husband packed up the 1980s red Cadillac, left the northeast, and eventually made their way to the Midwest city known for the Indianapolis 500. Over the last few decades, Andrea has started 3 successful businesses and ultimately became a certified business and life coach, all while raising two kids, now ages 20 and 17, and several giant puppies. Her goal is to help bold, ambitious women create their own custom secret sauce for success by combining just two ingredients - the right mindset and solid systems. Andrea believes anything, including success on your own terms, can move you from feeling that things are impossible to possible IF you make it all simple, doable and FUN (even the systems). In this bonus episode I'm going to talk to you about why this podcast isn't for you. Yep. You heard that right. It's true, this podcast isn't for everyone. My hop is to give you the tools to change your life. I want you to be able to listen and feel impacted by the words that you're hearing. If you're 100 percent happy with how your life is now and you don't want to make any changes, this podcast is probably not for you. If you want to transform your life, whether you feel like you're living life for the first time or you just want to make some minor adjustments, you're in the right place. So let me tell you a little bit about myself and the direction I see taking this podcast so you can see if it's right for you. Those of you who have been following for a long time know that this journey actually started for me. When I thought I had cancer. I freaked out for a bit and then suddenly I was like, you know what, if I have cancer, I don't know what's going to happen. I need to really start living my life. Up until about two years ago I was very much an introvert and I didn't really allow myself to live my life. Part of that was because I was extremely overweight. And I kept telling myself, really my whole life, you know, when I lose weight, I'm going to skydive or scuba dive or go jet skiing and all this stuff that I wanted to do and try, but I was too afraid to do it when I was bigger. While I was finally living my life, I realized how much I had really missed out on. Not only the experiences, but with those experiences come a lot of lessons that as an adult, I still hadn't learned . Things that you should have learned as a kid , like socializing or initiating conversation. I know these sound like trivial things, but believe it or not, when you're overweight, people kind of ignore you. I belong to a lot of trauma support groups online. So I know that I'm not the only one. I want people to be able to listen to the podcast and just transform their lives. In fact, not too long ago, I actually made a Reel/Short about this. Those of you who know me, know that how much I love to learn. I really do. And as I've been starting my business and things like that, there's still a lot that I don't know. And when I have a problem, I usually consult Google or YouTube or podcasts. I consult the experts. A few months ago I decided I was going to start a podcast so that I can have experts come on and explain things that they're really, really passionate about. And that my listeners and I can really learn from someone who has studied it because they love it. And that has been so phenomenal. I can't even explain to you how impactful each one of these interviews has been for me. That is my hope for the people who are listening to my podcast. I want to give you guys tools to change your life. And I want you to be able to listen and feel impacted by the words that you're hearing. Now, as I say this, I want to point out that not every episode is going to be for every person. People from all walks of life are going to be welcome on my podcast, because you never know when that one piece of information is going to change someone's life. And even if you don't have a history of trauma, even if you've lived your life up to this point the way you've always wanted to, there's still things to be learned. If you're learning, trying to grow your business, trying to succeed in life. Stick around, because I am also interviewing people who are really, really good at doing those things. And so if you come across an episode and you don't like it, don't write off the show entirely. Try a different episode, because they really are all going to be different. It's just people who I feel a connection to that I feel that I can learn something and convey that message to my listeners. I'm open to input. So if you have a topic or a question or something that you want me to explore in episode, shoot me a DM or email. And I will find an expert to come on here and answer that for you.
