This week on Without A Country, Corinne Fisher breaks down the political shakeups coming out of New York City's primary elections and what Zohran Mamdani's growing influence could mean for the future of the Democratic Party heading into 2028. She examines surprise victories from DSA-backed candidates, the role of endorsements in modern politics, and the broader battle for the direction of the American left. Corinne and Mike also dive into Jimmy Fallon's controversial decision to host Conor McGregor despite the fighter's recent civil seggsual assault ruling. Then, in a deep-dive exposé, Corinne unpacks the bombshell Washington Post investigation into Tulsi Gabbard, her upbringing in the Science of Identity Foundation, allegations of cult-like influence, and the mysterious network of advisers who may have helped shape her political career. Plus: the new report shared by the UN about children in Gaza, the Trump administration's foreign policy moves, Israel and Gaza, international election interference concerns, developments in Cuba, unrest in Bolivia, and staggering rising domestic violence statistics in one US state.0:00 Intro1:20 Welcome to Without a Country2:41 Patreon & show support3:40 NYC's closed primaries explained4:49 On political endorsements 6:28 Brad Lander's win & his political persona9:20 Mamdani's endorsement slate & DSA momentum11:30 Darializa Avila Chevalier's stunning upset15:35 Enemy of the State: Jimmy Fallon20:08 Fallon hosting Conor McGregor26:43 Conor McGregor's r@pe case, explained32:45 McGregor's comeback fight vs. Max Holloway34:54 Deep dive: The Washington Post's Tulsi Gabbard exposé38:08 Tulsi Gabbard's upbringing inside the Science of Identity Foundation42:22 The Informant51:56 Tangent: who actually runs the DSA?59:54 Chris Butler's political origins in Hawaii1:06:31 The 1990s anti-gay-marriage ad featuring young Tulsi1:09:57 On-the-ground investigation in Hawaii1:17:19 Scripted tweets and talking points1:23:59 Attempts to Discredit Informant 1:29:55 Running the memos through Claude AI1:36:12 Gabbard's abrupt departure as DNI1:39:59 Gabbard's parting shots at Fauci over Covid origins1:43:59 The White House's "media offenders" list1:46:54 The UFC 250 White House attack plot1:57:44 So who actually runs the DSA?1:59:20 Why political "vessels" need star power2:04:13 Politico: "Mamdani emerges as kingmaker"2:08:56 Brad Lander's district & the Jewish vote2:21:31 NYT profile: Who is Darializa Avila Chevalier?2:31:57 Could Be Worse: Gaza coverage fatigue & media consolidation2:35:12 UN report: Israel targeting Palestinian children2:39:09 Cuties Corner: the ant slave rebellion2:43:01 Bolivia's state of emergency2:43:29 Colombia's election & Trump's meddling2:44:45 Cuba's economic reforms under US pressure2:46:08 One state's rise in domestic violence2:47:24 Outro & how to support the showSUBSCRIBE TO THE PATREON:https://patreon.com/WithoutACountry?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLinkFOLLOW WITHOUT A COUNTRY ON IG: https://www.instagram.com/withoutacountrypodcast/FOLLOW CORINNE ON IG: https://www.instagram.com/philanthropygalFOLLOW MIKE ON IG: https://www.instagram.com/themharrington/FOLLOW ALONG:ENEMY OF THE STATE: JIMMY FALLONhttps://sports.yahoo.com/article/conor-mcgregors-rape-case-explained-210139281.htmlMAIN STORIESTulsi Gabbard exposéhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/2026/06/21/tulsi-gabbard-her-guru-mysterious-messages-that-helped-shape-her-political-career/Hawaii anti-same sex marriage ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXPH_b_ATioScience of Identity Foundationhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_of_Identity_FoundationWHITE HOUSE GREAT LAWN UFC ATTACK PLOThttps://www.justice.gov/usao-sdoh/pr/five-men-arrested-charged-plot-attack-kill-government-officials-others-attending&https://www.npr.org/2026/06/23/nx-s1-5867278/authorities-arrest-suspects-attack-ufc-showMUNICIPALMamdani the Kingmaker https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2026/06/25/mamdani-emerges-tuesday-primaries-big-winner-other-takeaways/Darializa Chevalierhttps://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/23/nyregion/who-is-darializa-avila-chevalier.htmlCOULD BE WORSE/GUUUURLGaza Gen0cide Continueshttps://news.un.org/en/story/2026/06/1167790Boliviahttps://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cr47wn92zdgoTrump & Columbiahttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/jun/24/colombia-presidential-election-abelardo-de-la-espriellaCuba Economic Liberalization After Pressure from UShttps://www.democracynow.org/2026/6/22/headlines/under_intense_us_pressure_cuban_lawmakers_approve_sweeping_economic_changesSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Why do so many Lean implementations struggle or fail to stick? Thomas Cox and Andre DeMerchant join me to work through that question using a verbal A3. Thomas Cox is a management bench builder, co-founder of the Transformative Leadership Lab, and a certified Harada Method coach trainer. Andre DeMerchant is president of DeMerchant Healthcare Solutions and a former Toyota team member who started as a forklift driver at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and rose to manufacturing manager. He's also a returning guest from episode 307. The core idea: Lean asks people to surface problems, admit mistakes, and stop the line without fear. That requires psychological safety, and psychological safety has to exist before Lean gets rolled out. It can't be created by the rollout itself. Drawing on Chris Argyris, Thomas frames the problem as Model 1 behavior (controlling, self-protective, blame-oriented, closed off) versus Model 2 (calm, curious, empathic, non-defensive). Under pressure, most leaders default to Model 1, which is the opposite of what Lean needs. Along the way we get into Andre's contrast between meat-packing management meetings (where having no problems was the goal) and Toyota meetings (where showing up without a problem marked you as the person who didn't understand the work). We also talk about Alan Mulally banning sarcasm at Ford, Mark Fields reporting red and getting applause instead of fired, the carrot-and-stick fallacy, McGregor's Theory X and Theory Y, and the uncomfortable question of whether consultants succeed because of method or because they cherry-pick clients. Thomas and Andre have published their A3 as a living document and built an assessment for gauging how close a C-suite is to the preconditions Lean needs. Links in the show notes. The Pharisees and Sadducees look like a unified front in the four Gospels. They were not. In this Beyond the Notes episode, Pastor Russell Howard traces the distinct origins, beliefs, and social roles of these two first century Jewish parties. The Sadducees controlled the high priesthood under Roman favor but rejected the resurrection, angels, and miracles taught in the Old Testament. The Pharisees were the devout cultural anchor of Jewish life and held the trust of the common people. Their rivalry was deep enough that when the Apostle Paul exploited it in Acts 23, a formal council meeting turned violent. What unites groups that agree on nothing? Opposition to Jesus. Pastor Howard draws from Matthew 16 and Acts 23 to show that this pattern did not end in the first century and helps listeners read the Gospels with fresh eyes and a clearer framework. Were the feeding of the 5,000 and the feeding of the 4,000 the same event? Some scholars say yes, and they use that claim to cast doubt on the reliability of the Gospels and the whole of Scripture. In this episode of Beyond the Notes, Elder Peter Finch walks through the specific differences between the two miracles: the location, the crowd, the season, the amount of food used, the length of time the people had been with Jesus, the Greek word for "basket," and the crowd's response afterward. He also examines Matthew 16, where Jesus himself references both feedings by name, and considers why Christ would repeat a miracle of this magnitude. The answer has less to do with the bread and more to do with who Jesus is feeding. His provision is not reserved for one people group, one season, or one kind of person. He is the bread of life for Jews and Gentiles, for the familiar and the stranger, for those who have come to church for years and those who have never walked through the door. The King Has Come "Thy Compassions, They Fail Not" (Matthew 15:29-39) In Matthew 15, Jesus moves through Gentile territory with the same compassion He showed Israel. He heals the lame, the blind, the crippled, and the mute, then feeds a crowd of 4,000 with seven loaves and a few small fish. Elder Peter Finch walks through both of these moments to show what compassion actually means. Not a polite feeling, but a God who sees pain, suffers alongside it, and acts to relieve it. He also addresses the disciples' tendency to forget what God has already done, a tendency that is easy to recognize because it is our own. The sermon closes with a direct call to anyone who has not yet come to Christ: God's patience toward you is itself an act of compassion, meant to draw you to repentance. Known to millions as Mrs. Moneypenny from her 16 year Financial Times column, Heather has been an investment banker, executive search entrepreneur, Edinburgh Fringe performer, off Broadway actress, PhD holder, chartered accountant and now Provost of Heriot-Watt University Dubai, overseeing 5,500 students and 600 staff. She qualified as a chartered accountant three weeks before her 60th birthday. She borrowed £1.8 million personally to buy a business, then gifted it to her staff. Can external discipline actually change you from the inside out? In this Beyond the Notes teaching, Pastor Russell Howard works through Colossians 2:16-23, where Paul identifies two dangers for believers: the legalistic judgment of others and the illusion of holiness through self-made religion. From dietary restrictions to ascetic practices to claims of superior spiritual experience, Paul's argument is direct. These things have an appearance of wisdom, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. The episode closes with Galatians 5:16, what Pastor Russell calls the single most concise and powerful verse in the New Testament on gaining mastery over the desires of the flesh. There are no rules to add, no habits to adopt. There is one command: walk by the Spirit. This teaching is for anyone who has tried harder and still come up short, and who wants to understand what actually produces real growth. "Tradition" (Matthew 14:34-15:20) In this sermon from our ongoing study of the Gospel of Matthew, Pastor Russell Howard draws a line between spiritual discipline and spiritual deception. Habits and behaviors can be genuinely helpful to a believer's walk with God. But when external conformity becomes a substitute for biblical obedience, or when rule-keeping becomes the currency we use to earn God's love, those traditions become dangerous. They inoculate us against the very thing Scripture calls true holiness. Jesus encounters the Pharisees at the height of this tension. They have traveled over 100 miles from Jerusalem to challenge his disciples over a handwashing tradition rooted not in God's law but in the oral traditions of the rabbis. Jesus turns the accusation around: they are enforcing human rules while violating the actual commandments of God. He quotes Isaiah, "This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me." Then in verses 10 through 20, he makes an assertion that upends their entire framework. It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person. It is what comes out of the heart. The real problem has never been unwashed hands. It has always been an unwashed heart. Pastor Russell closes with this anchor from Ephesians 2: "By grace we have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Obedience matters, but obedience proceeds from a transformed heart, not from an attempt to earn favor with God. If you have been trying to make God love you more, this message is the grace-shaped correction you didn't know you needed. It's the kind of zany project where the director and star of this Paris-set movie are both Australians (Luhrmann and Nicole Kidman) while the co-lead is Scottish (Ewan McGregor) and a Colombian (John Leguizamo) plays the real-life French writer Toulouse Lautrec. Kidman and McGregor are well-matched as gaga lovers and, while she got most of the raves, he's just as good...if not even better. Baz's main hook is to use anachronistic pop hits on the soundtrack in his frantic, garish musical that's absolutely in love with love. Either you're all in...or you won't be able to put up with more than 10 minutes of it. But put up with me talking baout the sickly courtesan and her idealistic writer who l'amour things up in the spectacular (spectacular) Moulin Rouge. What does community look like when the building is still under construction? On this week's Around McGregor, hosts Mark Bricker, Tamar Miller, and Christian Miller cover the week of May 31st. Topics include the return of newcomers coffee on Main Street between services, the prospective member class registration deadline, four life groups relocating to the modular building as Joy Building renovations begin, a brand new young adult life group for ages 30-40 launching Sunday, June 14th in the library, VBS Rainforest Falls June 8-12 (registration open, preschool lobby already decorated), the international potluck following VBS, and 21 currently open employment positions at McGregor and SFCA. Could communist Chinese infiltration of Canada become an existential threat to American security—or is it already one?Scott McGregor has spent decades in the Canadian military and Canadian intelligence studying the threat that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) poses to Canada and North America more broadly. He has known about the CCP's infiltration of Canada for many years and briefed major intelligence agencies in both Canada and the United States about it.According to McGregor, the strategic partnership between Canada and China is extremely detrimental to Canada's interests—and also poses a major security threat to America.McGregor, who is the co-author of the book “The Mosaic Effect,” told me the partnership “came as quite a shock. ... This strategic alliance ... cuts the legs out of the people that have been trying to bring awareness to the threat of China to Canada and North America.”U.S. President Donald Trump's comments last year about Canada becoming America's 51st state alienated many Canadians to such a degree that they are eager to distance themselves from America. But McGregor says the reality is that Canada very much depends on the United States. It's by far Canada's most important trading partner and an indispensable military partner.“Canada relies on the United States as a partner in logistics support, especially militarily. When I deployed, we had Canadians that were saved because Americans had helicopters that could operate in regions that we just couldn't. We didn't have the capability. The same goes for weaponry,” he says.Without American military support, McGregor warns, “We are left on our own. ... Canada needs the United States.”But do Canadians want to hear such warnings? Do Canadians perhaps tend to overestimate their country's military strength? Do they understand the depth of the threat from a China under CCP rule? Are they aware of the extent to which Canadian society has already been undermined over the last half century? And are Canadians perhaps too trusting to realize that the CCP has a plan for Canada and is executing it?He tells me: “China has a goal, an objective. It's not destruction at this point. It's disruption, and the disruption is working. They've outflanked us. We're fighting amongst ourselves—exactly what they want.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

The King Has Come "The Storm That Reveals The Savior" (Matthew 14:22-33) Jesus did not send the disciples into the storm by accident. He sent them on purpose, and He knew exactly what they would find there. In this sermon from Matthew 14:22-33, Ryan Flint, Worship Pastor at McGregor Baptist Church, traces the disciples from the shoreline crowd still buzzing after the feeding of the five thousand, out onto the dark water, and into a fear they could not manage on their own. Through Peter's bold step out of the boat and his slow, terrifying sink beneath the waves, we see the central truth of the passage clearly: faith thrives and fear fades when we fix our eyes on Jesus. The storm was not evidence that Christ had abandoned them. It was the very place He revealed Himself most fully. Listeners walk away with this: the trials you are carrying are not interruptions to God's work in your life. They are invitations to trust Him more clearly, see Him more fully, and worship Him in a way the calm shore never could have produced. What do you do when you know God is faithful but your circumstances are screaming something different? In this Beyond the Notes episode, Ryan Flint, Worship Pastor at McGregor Baptist Church, explores the concept of gospel amnesia: the very human pattern of forgetting what we know to be true about God the moment suffering gets loud. Drawing from Matthew 14, the Psalms, and the Israelites' journey through the wilderness, Ryan explains why fear narrows our vision and how it causes us to interpret God through our storms instead of interpreting our storms through God. Ryan walks through five practical anchors for fighting back: staying in God's Word, staying connected to the church, worshiping regularly, remembering what God has done before, and preaching gospel truth to yourself every day. Whether you are in a hard season or simply want to be more ready for the next one, this episode gives you a clear and honest framework for keeping the gospel close when life gets loud.
