When the Vulcans and the Andorians start fighting over the same shitty planet, Captain Archer gets called in on special diplomatic duty and no one really knows why. But when Shran releases a hostage and tries to open a conversation with Ambassador Soval, Suzie Plakson breaks rank and reveals she's a war-hungry anti-Vulcite. Which superhero do you want at a sex party? Who is logicing like a fox? Will Shran ever sleep again? It's the episode that got a little overcooked.Support the production of The Greatest GenerationGet a thing at podshop.biz!Sign up for our mailing list!Follow The Game of Buttholes: The Will of the Riker - Quantum LeapThe Greatest Generation is produced by Wynde PriddySocial media is managed by Rob Adler and Bill TilleyMusic by Adam Ragusea & Dark MateriaFriends of DeSoto for: Labor | Democracy | JusticeDiscuss the show using the hashtag #GreatestGen and find us on social media:YouTube | Facebook | X | Instagram | TikTok | Mastodon | Bluesky | ThreadsAnd check out these online communities run by FODs: Reddit | USS Hood Discord | Facebook group | Wikia | FriendsOfDeSoto.social

When T'Pol takes the fall for the Andorians attacking P'Jem, Captain Archer's final attempt at a hang gets them both kidnapped by rebels. But when the crew's rescue mission gets Tucker and Reed jumped too, Shran's sense of indebtedness pays out double for the Entrepreneur. What heightens the urgency of being tied up with a colleague? Which food prep is best left to the professionals? How do you save money on a casket? It's the episode that rockets Worf to the middle.Support the production of The Greatest GenerationGet a thing at podshop.biz!Sign up for our mailing list!Follow The Game of Buttholes: The Will of the Riker - Quantum LeapThe Greatest Generation is produced by Wynde PriddySocial media is managed by Rob Adler and Bill TilleyMusic by Adam Ragusea & Dark MateriaFriends of DeSoto for: Labor | Democracy | JusticeDiscuss the show using the hashtag #GreatestGen and find us on social media:YouTube | Facebook | X | Instagram | TikTok | Mastodon | Bluesky | ThreadsAnd check out these online communities run by FODs: Reddit | USS Hood Discord | Facebook group | Wikia | FriendsOfDeSoto.social

Ősszel érkezik a Star Trek: Captain's Chair, adásunkban a stratégiai kártyajáték magyar tervezőjével, Turczi Dáviddal beszélgetünk. For pity's sake, John keeps falling for obvious lies this week on "Enterprise". First up: religious extremists take over the ship way too easily in an attempt to end a moronic war for jerks in "Chosen Realm". After that, Shran is back to totally just altruistically help and NOTHING ELSE in "Proving Ground". Also this week: the dumbest ladder, SpongeBob, and Jake Sisko! [timestamps: Realm: 02:31; Ground: 30:12; Jakey Boy: 1:01:52] [tumbl this way to Jake: https://www.tumblr.com/sshbpodcast/749309616486252544/character-spotlight-jake-sisko?source=share]
Shran is back and he needs Pink Skin to do his Pink Skin thing...again. contact us - podcastnx01@gmail.com
Come enjoy Andoria in summer as we review "The Aenar"! Jeff Combs gives us one last taste of Shran greatness as he and Archer go on a zany funhouse adventure, the Romulan Primogen tries to set a record for L's, and Trip has a case of the sad boi.
The political intrigue and ritualistic knife fighting heats up as we review "United"! When Archer tries to get everyone to act like adults so they can deal with the Romulan CIA Drones, Shran goes full goblin mode, Travis has hidden talents, and we manage not to hate Reed (for once).
It's the shifty antagonists you always need to have show up eventually as we review "Babel One"! When the Romulan/Brujah Primogen starts drone striking a few too many weddings, can Archer make his Diplomacy skill check? Meanwhile, we also review "Godzilla Minus One" and ask if you want us to review....Kindred: The Embraced?
Nothing like a little torture between friends as we review "Kir'Shara". When Jeffery Combs shows up, you know it's the good stuff as Shran and Soval have some personal time, Archer and T'Pol put on a sweet holographic display, and Koss comes through as too good for his wife anyway.
Shran gets mad, Trip teases Malcolm, Archer gets to be the hero via physical combat, and Travis is under-utilized. I think that narrows it down, right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intro and outro music by Iván D. The NX-01 gets a heaping helping of everyone's favorite Andorian as we review "Proving Ground"! While it's no mystery that any episode with Jeffrey Combs and his acting cheat codes is a banger, this one reaches new heights as Shran is all too helpful and creates an Archer Head Wound Inversion.

Finishing up the Vulcan trilogy with some Andorians. Specifically one Andorian. Shran. Shran is back. And we get to see some good old fashioned Vulcan combat on the sound stage. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intro and outro music by Iván D. Shran is BACK!Do you think Archer might get his hints that something isn't on the level?A combined Human/Andorian with one Vulcan mission to steal a prototype Xindi weapon, nothing will possibly go wrong when it's 4:2.The main lesson to learn is don't mess with the Andorian Mining Consortium and evidently don't mess with Phlox or Archer otherwise they will concoct an elaborate torture method worthy of a Kobayashi Maru.
We see what it is like when Enterprise gets its act together as we review "Cease Fire". As the show suddenly remembers its own premise, Archer and T'Pol meet the very best Special Guest Stars as they try and negotiate while Trip manages to show character growth.
Episode 165 Stratagem / Proving Ground / Once More Unto the Breach. We continue into Season 3 of Enterprise with a mission impossible style story and DS9 has a nice farewell for TOS era Klingon Kor. Proving Ground Ratings: Bob 8.5, Eric 8. Stratagem Ratings: Bob 8, Eric 7.5. Once More Unto the Breach Ratings: Bob 8 , Eric 8. Question: What do you think happened to Shran post Enterprise?
While deep in the expanse, Shran catches up to the Enterprise, offering to help repair and resupply the ship, while Shran harbors a secret about what his real intentions are of being there. An act will result in pitting the allies against each other. If you're watching with us, the next episode will be from season 4 of Enterprise, entitled, "Home." This is probably the best episode of Enterprise Ryan and Brady have talked about for the podcast so far. Is that because Jeffrey Combs bumps up the rating of every Trek episode he appears in? Well, it's not not because of that. Listen in to hear us talk about solid direction, Death Star rip-offs, how cool the Xindi are (at least in theory), and more of that good good Shran.
We settle in to some of that sweet continuity as we review "Shadows of P'Jem"! Marvel at an episode that is supposed to be all about T'Pol making a choice but ends up with her having zero agency and dumb boob jokes until Shran shows up and saves us all.
Quick visit to the gift shop at the Vulcan monastery leads to a galaxy of head wounds as we review “The Andorian Incident”! When the NX-01 Trio tries to get cultural enlightenment they run into the unmitigated excellence of Jeffrey Combs and hatch a plan to avoid having Reed shoot up the place …which involves Reed shooting up the place.
Ryan and Brady watch a pretty good episode of Enterprise, bolstered by the first appearance (on our show, not on Enterprise itself) of Jeffrey Combs's Thy'lek Shran. We talk about how much we like Combs, cool antenna creature effects, and we say the phrase "Hot Worms" a lot. It makes sense in the episode, we promise.

“Shadows of P'Jem” 20th-anniversary reflections. Six months after the Klingon crash landing in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, tensions run high between the Vulcans and Starfleet after Andorian commandos destroy the monastery at P'Jem. The rift leads to potentially earth-shattering changes when the Vulcans suspend joint fleet operations and recall T'Pol. But an excursion to the planet Coridan offers an opportunity—albeit an unpleasant one—to bridge the chasm. In this episode of Warp Five, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing continue our 20th-anniversary retrospective that takes you through all of Star Trek: Enterprise, one episode at a time. In this installment, we explore “Shadows of P'Jem” and how tensions with the Vulcans and burgeoning relations with the Andorians help build the trinity that will lead to the Federation. We also discuss the return of Shran and his importance to the series, and ask whether or not Archer was the right choice of captain for the first warp-five ship. This week on Episode 525 of Priority One: Jeffrey Combs speaks in evil robot about his appearance on Lower Decks, Prodigy showrunners drop some details about the series a month out from the premiere, and it's confirmed - the TNG cast really are one big happy family. In gaming news, a new T6 remaster of a classic workhorse starship comes to Star Trek Online, and finally we enter the holo-pod and look at the latest episode of Lower Decks “I, Excretus”. This week's Community Question is: “Would you still play Star Trek Online if it wasn't Star Trek?” Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! TREK IT OUT Edited by Jake Morgan Weyooops...Jeffery Combs With i09 By Jake Morgan A great actor makes you feel. Whether joy, anger, love, hate - a truly gifted thespian makes you ache for their presence - be it revered or reviled. We Star Trek fans are graced with many such actors and characters. Nimoy's Spock. Whoopie's Guinan. Comb's Weyoun. Comb's Brunt. Comb's Penk. Comb's Shran. Comb's...well, you get the picture. This week, i09 sat down with the prolific Star Trek trouper Jeffery Combs to talk about our latest favorite Comb's role - the devious supercomputer Agimus! Comb's had glowing things to say about the writing staff of Star Trek: Lower Decks, explaining to James Whitbrook of i09 what drew him to the show. ”I liked the script a lot and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I find it—the show—just to be really... witty. Rapid-fire. The joke is past you before you go, “Wh-wh-wha?” A different tone from any other Star Trek I've ever done. And I kind of like that. It's refreshing. It doesn't take itself quite so seriously as some of the other iterations.” While Combs was complimentary of Lower Decks, he wasn't shy about his feelings towards the entertainment industry. When asked whether he'd return to a LIVE-Action version of the franchise, Comb's said ”You have to be asked to dance. You have to be invited. It's really not up to me. But I kind of feel I still have some gas in the tank. But you know, when it comes to commerce and entertainment it's just like cereal: “New and improved!” [...]. So, I don't really know what goes through decision-makers' minds, but there always seems to be some sort of a disconnect between what the fans would enjoy and what they wind up doing. Not always. Not always.” To find out how Comb's felt about playing an antagonist, his thoughts on Voice Acting, and much more, be sure to follow the link in our show notes at priorityonepodcast.com! One big happy TNG family By Rosco McQueen Some news that as Star Trek fans we've all known for a while, but is heartwarming to see it confirmed. Yes, the cast of The Next Generation really do all like each other. In fact, they're all incredibly close. In an interview with The Express in the UK, Marina Sirtis confirmed that the cast do indeed see themselves as a family. They've been friends since the early days of the series… and the producers hated it. "They hate when the cast like each other because they talk. Producers don't want you talking. They want us all hating each other and being competitive with each other, so that they can lie to you." Sirtis explains how after the death of her husband, it was the crew who were there for her soon after. Lavar Burton, Brent Spiner and Michael Dorn all immediately visited with Sirtis on the day her husband, Michael Lamper, died. She also spoke about the support she received from Gates McFadden. Akiva gets his Wish By Cat Hough Akiva Goldsman has been extremely busy of late, acting as executive producer and co-showrunner for both Star Trek: Picard and the upcoming series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. If those two roles weren't busy enough he also wrote and directed the pilot episode of Strange New Worlds. Goldsman told Trekmovie.com that it was really important to him to set the tone and style of the show, saying “I really wanted to make a show that would have appealed to the 12-year old me that went to that Star Trek convention in 1974. And it felt like the best way to do that would be to kind of help set the tone visually, and really more in storytelling.” He also notes that the audience will notice some changes in the uniforms and sets from how they appeared in Discovery, since he wanted it to look more in line with the Original Series. As we have mentioned in previous episodes, Strange New Worlds will be episodic, and Goldsman expounds on that, saying “Our characters will carry with them what they suffer from, or what they learned, from episode to episode. But the stories are episodic.” In addition to the show being episodic, Goldsman says that the show is meant to be an ensemble piece - so it won't just be ‘The Pike Show' and while it won't go into every character's backstory each episode, there will be a “focus” on different characters as the show goes on. Starfleet snippets from Prodigy showrunners By Rosco McQueen Star Trek: Prodigy is a month away from its debut, and the showrunners are dropping some tiny trek nuggets in interviews. In a chat with TrekMovie, Prodigy executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman and co-executive producer/director Ben Hibon reinforced the idea that this new series, specifically for kids, is an entry point to the franchise. Kevin Hagemen said “While these are kids in our show, they're in the adult world of Trek. And they're gonna slowly discover it, and have their falls, and their victories and stuff. It really is a show for people who have not experienced Trek before.” The journey of the Prodigy crew starts in the Delta Quadrant, with many familiar races that Voyager came across. In the interview the producers mention there are very well thought out reasons why we will see so many Alpha species in the Delta Quadrant, but that no one has really got it yet. They also mention that the USS Protostar was launched after Voyager returned home, but then quickly halt the conversation around the prototype's secret origins. The show takes place in 2383, five years after Voyager returned home. Quick News Roundup Here are a few headlines that we didn't discuss but might interest you. Defense screens up! Arm the lasers! By Shane Hoover Prompted by a recent STO Reddit thread, website Massively OP dedicated their “Massively Overthinking” column on September 23rd to one question. “Would you play your favorite MMO without its IP?” Many MMO's were on the table for discussion, but there were some interesting opinions on Star Trek Online. Writer Andy McAdams pointed out “I started binging on Star Trek Discovery again and it made me want to play the game, so I downloaded it. But I know I don't particularly enjoy the game and I'm only playing it for the IP. For me, I don't think it would stand on its own.”Another writer, Tyler Edwards, says “I don't think I'd ever have spent any significant amount of time on this game without the IP”. But he hits an important note pointing out that “What makes the game work is the massive amount of love the people behind it clearly have for the Star Trek universe.”

This week on Episode 523 of Priority One: the Roddenberry Foundation continues to promote a positive future, while Star Trek already wins some Emmys this year; in gaming, Star Trek Online takes us through a mirror darkly with “Reflections” and On Screen: Lower Decks Season 2 Episode 6! TREK IT OUT Edited by Thomas Reynolds Star Trek Wins at the Emmys By Elio Lleo On the heels of the Star Trek Day event, the franchise had cause for more celebration. During the two-day Creative Arts Emmy Event this last week, Star Trek walked away with two wins. First up, an Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Single episode for Star Trek: Discovery's Season 3, “Su'kal.” Then, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series for the Discovery episode, “If Memory Serves.” Now, Star Trek has been nominated for a total of 10 Emmys and the 75th Annual Awards show is set to air on Sunday, September 19th on CBS. So, let's keep our fingers crossed that Star Trek takes home several more! The 2321 Emmys will use photon torpedoes in place of play-off music. Image: Television Academy. Praise the Word of Rod By Elio Lleo As Gene Roddenberry's centennial celebrations continue, his son and CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment, Rod Roddenberry, spoke with Forbes's Simon Thompson about the last 55 years and the future of Star Trek. With the first four original movies being remastered in 4K UHD, Rod remarks about how great it is to see how there's still a hunger for the original incarnations of Trek, saying: I think it makes Star Trek new again, especially for our new audiences. You've got the TV series now that has brought in a newer, younger demographic, and I think some people are resistant to look at older stuff. When it comes out in 4K, it looks fresh and new. I'm excited by them being introduced to Star Trek through the original movies. ...oh, UNITY, that's what the shirt says. Image: Paramount Pictures, via Forbes. What about NuTrek? Well, for Rod, it's all about ensuring that any of the recent incarnations stay true to the core of what his father's vision was all about saying: He wants people like J.J. Abrams and Alex Kurtzman and others to come along and do that. He also wanted to make sure that it remains Star Trek… [a]s long as they are continuing the tradition and the idea of it making you think. Having it entertain is extremely important, absolutely, but let's be considering different points of view on this as well. Rod goes on to discuss his own personal history with the franchise and how it was he grew to be so invested in his father's legacy. What Escapes In Vegas...Stays In...Hmmm… By Cat Hough If you're headed to Vegas anytime soon, you should definitely trek out the new Star Trek: Discovery-themed escape room launched by Escapology. The game is set during the third season of Discovery and has opened just in time to coincide with the 4th season premiere on Paramount+. https://player.vimeo.com/video/599794944/ Your role in the game is acting as a civilian engineer tasked with inspecting the U.S.S. Discovery NCC-1031 as it undergoes the refit and upgrade to the 1031-A. However, sci-fi things happen during your inspection and Discovery collides with a quantum filament, causing major hull damage. The filaments' quantum resonance has also caused a polarity shift in the antimatter containment system, leading to a progressive degeneration in the containment field. If field strength falls below 15%, it will collapse, destroying the vessel and everyone aboard. Because sci-fi stuff happened, the main computer has closed emergency bulkheads across the ship and the turbolift control system has been disabled, leaving the bulk of the crew trapped and unable to begin repairs. In a convenient turn of events, your turbolift stopped near the Auxiliary Control section, so all you have to do is override its systems. At this point, you're the best option for helping Discovery and its crew avoid this disaster. Another reason to hate this design. Image: ViacomCBS, via CBR. Then, you, and your team, must escape the turbolift and communicate with a senior officer. You can save everyone if you can just re-establish communications and work together to repair the antimatter containment field before the strength falls below 15% which is projected to be in precisely 60 minutes time. Or that's how long you can book the room for: packages can be reserved at the Las Vegas Town Square location via the Escapology website and they currently show the price for 6 people is a little under $250. Festivity Will Now Commence By Thomas Reynolds and Rosco McQueen It's practically cliché at this point: the commercial Christmas season starts earlier every year, with candy canes and carols drowning out the trick-or-treaters and turkey dinners. But...what if December isn't merely encroaching on the other months? Isn't Christmas adding their celebrational distinctiveness to its own? Are they not being adapted to service Saint Nick? Yes, Christmas is assimilating the calendar–and your holidays, as they have been, are over. The Elf on the Shelf was the first to fall to the Collective; the angel tree topper is next. Image: Eaglemoss. Festivity may be irrelevant, but that hasn't stopped Eaglemoss from creating a grim messenger of holiday cheer. Invading Sector 001 on September 30th, the Borg Cube Advent Calendar brings 24 Trek accessories and gifts to all good little Trekkies. Socks, coasters, coffee mugs: each item included in the box also includes a short note with trivia and stories behind it. The Calendar sells for a considerable $149.95, so your bank account might look like New Providence if there's more than one Trekkie on your gift list. However, if you're after something a bit less “Sovereign-class”, then the California line of starships may be more your style. Eaglemoss has revealed the new XL model of the USS Cerritos. The model is 9.75” long and faithfully reproduces the Cerritos as it appeared in the first season. It's due in January 2022, so not quite in time for Christmas, but it will soon be joined by a model of the U.S.S. Titan. Both models were made using the actual VFX files used in Lower Decks, with both ships looking a little more animated than the usual line of starships–like they could have leapt from the screen to your living room. Ejectable warp core not included. Image: StarTrek.com Quick News Roundup Here are a few headlines that we didn't discuss but might interest you. For her efforts to help eradicate sexual harassment from the entertainment industry, Michelle Hurd was awarded the SAG-AFTRA President's Award. She also assisted in developing updated guidelines and policies to eliminate harassment and assault from the industry. You can color your favorite Lower Deckers. The Star Trek.com website is still celebrating Star Trek Day and you can download and print pages to a new coloring book from season two of Star Trek: Lower Decks. STAR TREK GAMING NEWS Edited by Thomas Reynolds A Fanatical Devotion to Charity By Shane Hoover It's policy here at Priority One that we love charity bundles (and if it isn't, it should be). The latest effort from STO and Fanatical.com is no exception. Following the familiar format, players can select one of two reward tiers based on their donated amount: Tier 1 - $1 ($15 value) 32c Vanity Shield Overlay Rainbow Risian Caracal ‘Charitable' title Tier 2 - $7.99 ($82 value) All items from Tier 1 Narendra-class Support Cruiser (T6) Vor'ral Support Battlecruiser (T6) 1 Fleet Ship Module 1 Gold Tech Upgrade 30 Lobi Crystals Rarely is it this easy to support the needs of the many. Image: Fanatical. But the benefits don't stay in-game: each purchase of any tier in the bundle earns you a chance to win the Grand Prize! Tier 1 purchases earn a single Grand prize entry, while Tier 2 purchases net you five entries. The winner gets a place on Star Trek: The Cruise V, a ticket worth over $5000. I don't know if God needs a cruise ship, but I sure wouldn't mind getting on this one. The winner also receives a digital copy of every expansion pack available for Star Trek Online. That's Legacy of Romulus, Delta Operations, Temporal Agent, Gamma Vanguard and Discovery Operations. All told, that's over $720 worth of STO goodies. You can also get one free entry into the Grand Prize drawing by visiting a link which requires you to sign up for the Fanatical newsletter. Nearly 90% of the sales price on these charity bundle items will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, providing children with safe and fun places to grow and thrive, and offering mentoring life-enhancing programs. STO Takes Another Hard Look In the Mirror By Rosco McQueen With the conclusion of the Klingon Civil War, you would think Starfleet and members of the Alliance would have time for a little bit of exploration in Star Trek Online. Think again!! As a mirror universe admiral once said, “You haven't seen the last of me!” https://youtu.be/krG7YUY9JNw This newfound peace is short lived, as a new danger emerges from the Mirror Universe. A former enemy, Admiral Leeta (voiced by Star Trek: Deep Space Nine star Chase Masterson) is being hunted by the Mirror Universe's Kuumarke, a Terran Empire special agent. Players will team up with Admiral Leeta to stop Kuumarke and her Terran forces from using stolen information to bring destruction to the Prime Universe. Captains can investigate this looming threat in a new featured episode, Firewall, as well as participate in a new ground TFO, “Operation: Wolf.” Captains can also earn daily progress by playing the “Counterpoint” TFO and the episode “Jabberwocky” to work towards claiming the brand new T6 Mirror Gagarin-class Miracle Worker Battlecruiser. It's worth noting the first Captain on your account to claim the ship also receives 8x Terran Empire Agony Phaser Weapon Packs which each contain your choice of starship weapon type, and 3x Ultimate Tech Upgrade - Beam/Cannon/Projectile Tech which may be used to upgrade any starship weaponry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlkM4MrvSR0&feature=emb_title The new Terran ship has a 4 forward, and 4 aft weapon layout, compared to the regular 5/3 layout of the Prime Gagarin. It features a Lieutenant Commander Command Specialist Bridge Officer seat, and a universal console - the Destructive Protomatter Wave Projector. The wave projector targets multiple vessels, ripping apart their hulls. If they are destroyed then they send out a secondary shockwave, which may infect other targets in a chain reaction. Carriers With Crossover Appeal By Thomas Reynolds For years, STO was a preeminent source for new Trek stories–and what's a new Trek story without a ship? Cryptic's designs helped progress the post-Nemesis state of shipbuilding art, establishing distinct aesthetics for a modern 25th century. Now 2021's a different scene, with five different television series and other MMOs generating new ships of their own. That said, STO's contributions aren't going unnoticed. Yes. It's a cat carrier. Good job. Image: Cryptic Studios. The Continuing Mission blog for Star Trek Adventures recently posted fan-made guidelines for bringing Cryptic's Atrox- and Aspero-class carriers into the tabletop world. The unofficial STO-to-STA ship conversion assigns stats and traits based on their online counterparts, so you can drag-and-drop them into your campaign. It's an interesting look at RPG mechanic design, if that's your thing (and if you're listening to this podcast, that's a pretty safe guess). But it also reflects Cryptic's success in creating ships that become Trek characters in their own right. Quick Gaming News Roundup With Reflections taking us back into the Mirror Universe, STO's original ships are getting some fresh new looks--looks that could kill, that is. Ten of Cryptic's 25th century Federation designs, including the fan-favorite Pathfinder, have been touched up for the new arc, ranging from new materials to full-blown remasters. The Terran Empire is also getting their own versions of four ships–the Shran, Reliant, Andromeda, and Pathfinder–dressed to impress and distress. For fans of STO's story blog posts, this was all related in a private communique from Vice Admiral Hemphill of Starfleet. Or is it Lord Baron Vice Admiral of Starfleet? The answer: yes. If you launch STO through the Epic Games launcher - or if you want to get a free Terran Incursion Pack that includes a Terran Empire Sonic Phaser Stun Pistol, an Elite Services Starter Pack and a Small XP Boost, then you'd need to download the game and launch through Epic Games. The pack can be claimed once per account, all items are bound to account and you must complete the tutorial in order to claim it. The red tells you they're Evil ships, because they can't grow goatees. Image: Cryptic Studios.

In Episode 15 of COMBS CREW, we complain endlessly about "The Andorian Incident," the seventh episode from the first season of Star Trek: Enterprise. The show introduces Shran, Jeffrey Combs's Andorian character, in this episode. Well hello, we didn’t see you there. Welcome to episode 7 of Discovering Trek: Enterprise! This episode, Co-Hosts Sara and Kasey not so quietly contemplate the intricate relationships the Vulcans and Andorians have and what this first contact for Archer feels like. With the introduction of Shran, Archer and the crew get an upclose and personal how do you do to Andorians and their violent tendencies and suspicions. Dang, the neighbors just can’t get along. Does the latest episode of Enterprise beat us up with over the top tropes? Are the Vulcans the kind of guests where you check for all the silverware after they leave? Is this a P’Jem of an episode or just costume jewelry? We chat all that plus who knew what, and the fantasticalness that is Jeffrey Combs. Sara and Kasey hope you’ll join them for some not so superior reasoning and definitely not violent tendencies on this episode of Discovering Trek: Enterprise. Come explore the First Frontier with us, you know you wanna.
"Now hear this. Now hear this. On this week's episode of Kirking Off, Shran's back baby, and he's had it up to his snow-white hairline with these treacherous Vulcans, and it's time to drop some bombs! We get into the Vulcan Delta Force, Worf's phase pistol collection, and some logical inconsistencies with... well, everyone. I present to you, Shadows of P'Jem from Star Trek: Enterprise." Tread Perilously's annual Star Trek month concludes with an episode of Star Trek: Enterprise called "United." With Trip and Reed stuck on the Romulan droneship, Archer must convince Shran and the Tellarite ambassadors to work together. It might sound simple, but in the previous episode, one of the Tellarites aboard Enterprise shot Shran's life-mate. And once she succumbs to her wounds, the hot-tempered Andorian demands satisfaction. Will Hoshi and Mayweather figure out Andorian customs in time for Archer to intervene or will the Tellatire ambassador taste the cold steel of Shran's ice-axe? And will Trip and Reed figure out a way to take control of the drone? Erik and Justin are stunned to see Captain Archer make a positive change. They shower Shran -- and guest star Jeffrey Combs -- with praise. Fellow guest star Brian Thompson also wins high marks as a Romulan commander. Erik even praises the new Star Trek: Lower Decks! The appearance of Remans proves successful. The early Star Trek: Deep Space Nine uniforms get critiqued. Justin envisions "Trip-Hulk." The pair examine the Andorian blood-challenge and the species' cold-weather gear. Does it all add up to an episode of Enterprise Erik and Justin actually like?

This week on Episode 473 of Priority One --- We ‘Trek Out’ Star Trek’s cinema shuffling, Prodigy’s newest hire, and where our vagabond shoes WON’T be straying. In Star Trek gaming, our friends, the Women at Warp, share an invaluable resource for gamers, Timelines gets a Mega-Event, and Modiphius is raising a small fortune for Black Lives Matter. Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Question Is: CQ: Would you rather see a fourth Kelvin film, Noah Hawley’s Pandemic Pitch, or a 2021 version of “A Piece of the Action”? TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan Star Trek Movie Plans are Undecided Werner Herzog once said “I WOULD TRAVEL DOWN TO HELL AND WRESTLE A FILM AWAY FROM THE DEVIL IF IT WAS NECESSARY.”. We Star Trek fans may need to get in touch with Mr. Herzog - because the Star Trek film franchise is in a bit of limbo. On Friday August 7th, Deadline broke the story that Paramount’s newest film Captain - Emma Watts - was putting the Noah Hawley led Trek film on ice. According to the piece, Watts, who formerly ran many Franchises for Fox, was in the process of evaluating which Trek was most feasible for the studio moving forward. Hawley’s film was put on the back-burner in large part due to its plot. ”What we’re hearing is that [...] the Hawley pic [...] calls for a new cast and might be about a deadly virus which might feel awkward given current circumstance”. The Hollywood Reporter’s sources confirm the rumor about the plot, adding “the virus wipes out vast parts of the known universe”. So what’s next? Is it all bad news? Not necessarily. According to Deadline, Hawley’s film moving back may mean another oft discussed Trek film could move forward. There are two options, and we’ve discussed them both ad-nauseum. The first is Star Trek by Quentin Tarantino, which we’ll get into in a minute. The other, and according to Deadline the most likely of the three films to get made, is the formerly-SJ Clarkson-helmed Star Trek Kelvin IV. The script brings back the Kelvin Enterprise and her crew, as well as Chris Hemsworth as George Kirk. It was dumped in favor of Hawley’s pitch due to the high price tag that went along with bringing back the Kelvin-crew, but according to Deadline it ”might have the cleanest path toward a relaunch, with an emphasis on boosting overseas gross numbers which have never been the franchise’s strong suit. These decisions will take place over the next few weeks.” So stay tuned for the next chapter of this ongoing saga! We Learn More About Star Trekantino Quentin Tarantino once said “THE GOOD IDEAS WILL SURVIVE.”. Let’s hope that’s true, because it feels like THIS idea has been around for a long time. THIS idea, of course, is the Tarantino helmed Star Trek film - Star Trekantino. This weeks Deadline piece shed some light on the on-again-off-again film, including it’s feasibility and - more interestingly - its plot. ”Tarantino dropped out as director, but the project is still viable based on an episode of the classic Star Trek series that takes place largely earthbound in a 30s gangster setting — might serve the franchise best as Logan-like spinoffs when the core franchise has been revitalized.”. So, tarantino wanted a “Piece of the Action”? Tarantino, as stated, dropped out as director, but still expressed excitement for the Michael L. Smith penned script. Tarantino told Deadline in January of this year ”I think they might make that movie, but I just don’t think I’m going to direct it. It’s a good idea. They should definitely do it and I’ll be happy to come in and give them some notes on the first rough cut.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2eRJozOZa0 Star Trek Prodigy Gets a Director/Co-Executive Producer Heading back to the small screen, Star Trek’s upcoming Nickelodeon offering - Star Trek: Prodigy - has a new creative lead - Ben Hibon. Hibon has been creating CG animation for video games, shorts, and movies since 2005; having most notably directed the animated “Tale of Three Brothers'' in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. Along with his Creative lead role, Hibon will direct and serve as a co-executive producer on the Hageman Brothers series. Ramsey Naito of Nickelodeon group said of the addition ”Ben’s contributions to the world of animation are immeasurable, and we are so lucky to have his vision and creative genius on Star Trek: Prodigy. As an incredible storyteller and a world builder with a distinct vision, his original approach paired with this beloved property will bring the characters to life in a whole new way,” Hibon also expressed his excitement, saying in a release ”Getting the chance to work on an IP like Star Trek has been an incredible opportunity, particularly when partnered with the talented teams at Nickelodeon, CBS and Secret Hideout – who have been pushing the boundaries of what animation and serialized storytelling for younger audiences can deliver,” For another look at Ben Hibon’s work, we suggest trekking out “Codehunters”. We’ll have a link in our show notes, but as a heads up Viewer discretion is advised. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmeP1YkaeTo NYCC ReedPop Statement Stop spreadin' the germs, I'm wearing a mask Don’t want to be a part of it New York, Comic Con Or not. If your vagabond shoes were longing to stray through the very heart of the Javitt center this October - to celebrate ReedPop’s New York Comic Con 2020 - you’ll have to find another approach to melt away your little-town blues. New York Comic Con is cancelled - sort of. In a statement released on their website, ReedPop said in part ”NYCC doesn’t stop just because we can’t do what we’ve done in the past. Instead, we look to the future: We may not be meeting in the queue hall each morning, but we’re excited to join forces with our sister event, MCM Comic Con in London, to bring you New York Comic Con's Metaverse, our new online portal dedicated to delivering pop culture experiences, right into your homes NYCC weekend, October 8-11. We are partnering with YouTube to bring to life four days of incredible content from the biggest studios, publishers and creators in the business.” It probably comes as no surprise that the in-person event was cancelled - it would be more surprising, frankly, if they just pushed it back to - say - December. But given the chance, would you undo humanity’s achievements to annul its sins? And would you want the RomuLannisters involved? No really, would you? Star Trek Timelines’ upcoming Mega-Event, “The Capitoline Wolf,'' opens a strange new chapter in human/Romulan relations. During the Enterprise-themed event, players will see the history of an alternate Earth shaped by ancient Romulan influence–for good or for ill–and decide if humans should ever change. Instead, we want to share a different story that came to our attention this week. It’s a story that we hope will be helpful to some of you, maybe even important. As reported recently by Ars Technica, and shared with us by Sue fromWomen At Warp, a new type of text-based hotline has launched for gamers. It’s called the Games and Online Harassment Hotline, and their mission is to offer free emotional support and help resources to gamers and game developers struggling with the unique issues common to the industry. Initially conceived by Feminist Frequency’s Anita Sarkeesian, the hotline is solely purposed to offering a listening ear and support to anyone in gaming who might need it. As Sarkeesian puts it, It's for people who make and play games. Streamer, competitor, press, fan, my mom who plays Candy Crush. There's no gatekeeping here, no test to get into our boundaries. If you're part of our space, we're here for you… Burnt out by crunch. Isolated, lonely, or depressed. Facing online harassment. Abuse. Afraid that you have caused harm and want a place to talk that out. Worried for your friends or colleagues. We're a space you can come to and talk some of that through. If you need to talk with someone about struggles you’re experiencing in the gaming sphere, you can start by texting “SUPPORT” to 23368 anywhere in the USA. Between 4pm and 7pm Pacific, weekdays, they’ll reply to your text. After a few automated questions, you’ll get connected to a trained agent who will listen and offer helpful resources if they can.

TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan On Friday May 15th, ViacomCBS made the OFFICIAL announcement that Anson Mount's Christopher Pike would be getting his own series. Along with a brief description of the upcoming show, titled “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”, we were treated to a video featuring the show's three stars - the aforementioned Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn. In the video, the trio thanked fans for their continued support, and Mount promised ”We're going to get to work on a classic Star Trek show that deals with optimism and the future. And I guess there's only one more thing to say - Hit It” The series Executive Producers include Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Jenny Lumet, Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, and our very own Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth! The premiere's story was hashed out by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Jenny Lumet, and Goldsman gets the screenplay credit. Star Trek “Captain” Alex Kurtzman said in a release ”When we said we heard the fans' outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it. These iconic characters have a deep history in Star Trek canon, yet so much of their stories has yet to be told. With Akiva and Henry at the helm, the Enterprise, its crew and its fans are in for an extraordinary journey to new frontiers in the Star Trek universe.” No release date was announced, but the project was given a “series order”, and it sounds like the premiere script is ready to go. WE'RE GETTING A PIKE SERIES!!! Akiva Goldsman With Variety Discussing “Strange New Worlds” Did you hear we're getting a new Star Trek series? One of the architects of the upcoming “Strange New Worlds”, Akiva Goldsman, sat down with Variety to talk a bit more about the project. Goldsman's goal is to hew closer to The Original Series ”We're going to try to harken back to some classical ‘Trek' values, to be optimistic, and to be more episodic. Obviously, we will take advantage of the serialized nature of character and story building. But I think our plots will be more closed-ended than you've seen in either ‘Discovery' or ‘Picard.”. Goldsman continued ”I imagine it to be closer to the original series than even ‘DS9,'. We can really tell closed-ended stories. We can find ourselves in episodes that are tonally of a piece.” But Goldsman clarified that this won't be EXACTLY like the episodic adventures of years past, telling Variety ”I think one thing that we always struggled with [as fans] was that Kirk is heartbroken at the loss of Edith Keeler in ‘The City on the Edge of Forever' and has to be just fine the next week. I think what we would want to do is keep the characters having moved through and recognizing the experiences they've had in previous episodes, but to be able to tell contained, episodic stories.” Could Jeffery Combs Show Up in “Strange New Worlds” Imagine - if you dare - not only getting “Strange New Worlds”, but also getting the incomparable Jeffrey Combs as part of the crew. Star Trek twitter presence “Andorian Soup” has dared to imagine just that. On May 16th, Andorian Soup - whose avatar is Shran from Star Trek: Enterprise - posted a side-by-side photo of Jeffrey Combs and John Hoyt, the actor who played ship physician and Pike confidant Dr. Phillip Boyce in “The Cage”. The resemblance between the two actors is certainly undeniable. So what are the chances that the prolific actor could play the wise Doctor? According to Combs, not high. Replying to Andorian Soup's Twitter post, Combs himself said ”Thank you. Nice thought, but the chasm between what fans want and what the studios want make the chances of it happening slim to none.... and Slim left town.”. That doesn't mean the Star Trek veteran wouldn't be interested. When asked if he'd be open to the possibility, Combs replied ”Of course. I love Star Trek. Star Trek is life.” Patrick Stewart Teases Picard Season 2 Though we are obviously excited for the newly announced “Strange New Worlds”, there were other interesting Trek nuggets for our proverbial dipping that did not include Pike and the gang. This week, Sir Patrick Stewart sat down with Gold Derby to discuss his experience with HIS Trek offering, Star Trek: Picard. Sir Patrick reiterated his initial hesitation for playing the legendary Captain again, but revealed that he thought season 1 may be his last time doing so. Stewart recalled reading the script for the series finale, saying ”the writers had been a little bit undercover about that aspect of how series one was going to end. I learned it from reading the script, and when I saw that Picard collapsed and died when he was on that alien planet, I thought, ‘Oh my lord, I'm being written out of the show?” Instead, Picard lives on with an “artificial life inside me, but not a subservient, cruel one like the Borg. Well, we shall see. We don't know how Picard will with this new condition that has become part of his life.” Stewart also teased what's to come in Season 2, telling Gold Derby ”There are startling events predicted in Season 2. I'm so excited about them, because it is taking season one from where we were, we aren't going to be covering the same ground. And it's going to be, I think, extraordinary. I'm very excited about it.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Shane Hoover Mudd Plays With Time Again… Again? Well it's a slow news week for Star Trek gaming, but there's one very big talking point from Star Trek Online! In a STO News blog posted May 19th, Ambassador Kael announced the latest new offerings from Mudd's Market. And, according to the blog itself, “it's one of our craziest bundles ever!” In the usual Mudd's Market style, the bundle is listed with two “prices”. There's the so-called regular price, which is 29,500 Zen, or nearly $300 in cash. Then there's the sale price, at which the bundle is available to players until 5/26, which is 14,750 Zen, or nearly $150 in cash. So what does that significant investment get you? That's where this bundle gets really interesting. Because, unlike other Mudd's Market offerings, this bundle is all about choices. You get to choose THREE of these six items: Amarie-class Heavy Escort [T6] Temporal Science Vessel [T6] - Account-wide reclaim of faction-appropriate ship. Temporal Destroyer [T6] - Account-wide reclaim of faction-appropriate ship. 2 Zen Store T6 ship 100% off coupons 10x Ultimate Tech Upgrades A Phoenix pack Epic prize token which will unlock a character-locked ship So when you've purchased the bundle and claimed your three choices, any ships chosen will be forever reclaimable on all of your characters. You can also purchase the bundle as many times as you want. So, purchasing the bundle twice could get you all six choices. And subsequent purchases of the bundle after that would get you more T6 ship coupons, Ultimate Tech Upgrades, and Epic Phoenix prize tokens. That is, you know, if you wanted to spend $450 or more on STO. STO's Groupees Fundraiser We've already covered Star Trek Online's charity fundraiser for Pop Culture Hero Coalition and United Way Bay Area, but it's worth mentioning two updates tweeted this week to the game's Twitter account. First, they've restocked the $10 bundles, so if you missed out before, now's your chance. Second, the tweet declared that the Groupees bundles have raised nearly $110,000 for the two charities. So, a big congratulations to Star Trek Online, and to its players, for their efforts!

TREK IT OUT by Jake Morgan On Friday May 15th, ViacomCBS made the OFFICIAL announcement that Anson Mount’s Christopher Pike would be getting his own series. Along with a brief description of the upcoming show, titled “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”, we were treated to a video featuring the show's three stars - the aforementioned Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn. In the video, the trio thanked fans for their continued support, and Mount promised ”We’re going to get to work on a classic Star Trek show that deals with optimism and the future. And I guess there’s only one more thing to say - Hit It” The series Executive Producers include Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Jenny Lumet, Henry Alonso Myers, Heather Kadin, and our very own Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth! The premiere’s story was hashed out by Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Jenny Lumet, and Goldsman gets the screenplay credit. Star Trek “Captain” Alex Kurtzman said in a release ”When we said we heard the fans’ outpouring of love for Pike, Number One and Spock when they boarded Star Trek: Discovery last season, we meant it. In our 14th episode, we wrongly assume that the UPN trailer would focus on the close encounter between Archer's face and T'Pol's bosom. The Enterprise crew explore a world which oddly has a 100% kidnapping rate, and everyone takes turns being a better captain than Archer. Also the name of Jeffrey Combs's character is Shran. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intro and outro music by Iván D. Since the franchise's earliest days there's been a proud tradition of recycling character actors under heavy alien makeup. And while many proud individuals have inhabited multiple personas, nobody's done it better than Mr. Jeffrey Combs. This week hosts Cam Smith and Tyler Orton undergo several costume changes while taking a look at the actor's many unforgettable creations, from modest early beginnings as a pervy creep in the DS9 episode Meridian, to fan-fave icons Weyoun and Shran. In addition, the duo also celebrate the contributions of Combs' fellow 'Men & Women of a thousand Trek faces' including J.G. Hertzler, Vaughn Armstrong, Tony Todd and Susanna Thompson, and determine which species they should portray on Discovery and beyond.Right-click to download!Read more »

Writers' Room. Most Star Trek: Enterprise fans agree that the "Vulcan Trilogy" in season four is one of the best stories of the season, if not the series. There are, however, loose ends that some would like to have seen tied off. Did V'Las ever face a trial for his actions? Or did he escape to Romulus before judgment could be made and punishment carried out? In this episode of Warp Five, hosts Patrick Devlin and Brandi Jackola write a season five episode addressing the fate of the deposed Vulcan High Council Leader V'Las. They discuss secret missions, undercover agents, Chaltok 4, the return of the Romulan drone, Chekov's Klingons, and how Shran determines that good torture was wasted on the wrong Vulcan. This direct sequel to the Andorian Incident brings back one of our favorite Star Trek regulars, Jeffrey Combs as Shran. This episode also happens to be one of the last times in my memory that the show tries to force us to think Archer and T'Pol could be a thing. I think we’re all grateful for that. Shran and the Andorians finally appear! What should have been a fun family outing to the local Vulcan monastery turns sour as Archer and Co. are held hostage. This episode also starts to hint that the Vulcans of this era might not be quite the same Vulcans we're familiar with in the later series. This is one of those more universally loved Enterprise episodes. Not to say they peaked at episode seven, but that such a positively received episode happened in the first season says something, no? We're short one of our hosts this week, but we make up for it with general rambling and chuckling. The SHRAN...the MYTH...the GARAK of Enterprise! Shran of the Andorian Imperial Guard is undoubtedly one of the most beloved characters in ENTERPRISE. Meticulously and brilliantly portrayed by Star Trek "everywhere man", the living legend Jeffrey Combs - Shran exploded onto ENTERPRISE in Season One's The Andorian Incident. In only 10 episodes and a handful of off screen references (such as the Enterprise novels) Shran was force of nature that elevated ENTERPRISE with his every appearance. He forged a bond with Archer so strong that it became the catalyst for the future of the Federation. Previously on Warp Five: Episode 25, Christopher Jones and Tyler Johnson discuss the Andorians at length and it's a great show if you are unfamiliar with Andorians history and culture. But Shran was so volatile and so explosive...we felt that he deserved his very own focus. In this episode of Warp Five, Will Nguyen and I delve deeply into his character, especially his motivations and illustrate how pivotal Shran's role was to the NX-01 mission. If one thing is for certain, Shran isn't always what he appears to be. However, he truly and deeply believes that he is first and foremost...a Patriot. Host Norman C. Andorians. Something alien, something blue. If that's a must-have for you, then you've come to the right place as we discuss various aspects of Star Trek's antennae-donning Federation founders. In this episode of Trek News & Views Colin is joined by Miles McLoughlin and Michael Clark to look at the unique Andorian coupling system—which involves eight antennae (or four people if you prefer to count that way). We also discuss how Shran helped mould our current view of Andorians, whilst also touching on the Aenar and Enterprise. On a tangent we ask if one of the faces of God in Star Trek V is William Shatner and if there is a court case concerning Romulan Ale and Andorian Ale.
