Are you wondering how to be successful in TV Production? Teri Weinberg is a Former NBC Entertainment Executive Vice President who oversaw all aspects of NBC Entertainment's scripted development and current primetime programming in 2007, then launched her own production company, Yellow Brick Road, in 2010, with a two-year first look deal with NBC Universal. At the conclusion of that deal, Weinberg would independently produce, and consult for MTV Network. Teri then partnered with Golden Globe, Emmy Award winning actor and producer, America Ferrera in 2016, with a four-year first look deal with NBC Universal, and since returned to independent producing. Teri was Co-Executive producer of the Peabody, Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning “The Office,” which has also received two Television Critics Association Awards, multiple WGA awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She also served as Executive Producer of “Ugly Betty,” winner of two Golden Globe Awards, an Emmy Nomination, a Peabody Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In addition, Teri was Executive producer of the Golden Globe nominated, “The Tudors.” Weinberg was nominated for two Emmys in July 2007, as both “The Office” and “Ugly Betty” were nominated as Outstanding Comedy Series. In episode 460 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out how she was able to deal with the initial negative critic feedback on the television show "The Office", whether we will see a reunion for the television show "Ugly Betty", how much history goes into "The Tudors" versus drama to keep audiences coming back, how demanding and stressful it is to be Executive Vice President for NBC Entertainment, what is the vision for her own production company called Yellow Brick Road, what is her advice for college students who want to get into television production, where she gets inspiration for new TV shows, how we can avoid dwelling on problems and getting to solutions, and how she's been able to achieve peace of mind in her life. Enjoy!

Former NBC Entertainment chairman Paul Telegdy once lorded over Hollywood as a titan of television as the industry around him was crumbling. The Netflix menace was on the rise and Hollywood media companies were struggling to respond. Telegdy was trying to hold it together while running an increasingly imperiled broadcast network. Before he was pushed out of NBC in 2020 amidst a nation-wide fever of recriminations, exposés, and public firings, Telegdy oversaw some of the world's most successful reality television programming, including The Voice, American Ninja Warrior, and while at BBC Worldwide Dancing with the Stars. He also had the pleasure of overseeing Donald Trump's The Apprentice. Telegdy regularly fielded calls from the future president. Trump always wanted to brag to Telegdy about the show's ratings success, Telegdy told us. By the late 2010s, streaming had upended the television business, dislodging NBC from its prized perch and creating new media titans like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and Apple. Disney proved most successful at answering the streaming industry's money-burning onslaught — only for investors to suddenly change their tune this year and insist on profits rather than growth. We invited Telegdy — who Dead Cat co-host Tom Dotan got to know covering Hollywood — on the show to talk about the state of Hollywood today. We start off the episode discussing Telegdy's rise from his perch at the BBC and then his ascent to the top rungs of Hollywood at NBC. We talk about how the era of Hollywood “Jeffs” gave way to the reign of “Bobs.” Telegdy dissects Bob Chapek's short tenure as the chief executive officer of Disney before his old boss Bob Iger returned to the role. Finally, we ask Telegdy about The Hollywood Reporter article that helped tank his job at NBC. The Hollywood Reporter accused Telegedy of “racist, sexist, and homophobic behavior.” The story's headline read, “NBC Insiders Say Entertainment Boss Fostered Toxic Culture, Under Investigation.” He was ousted from NBC in a reorganization as the company investigated the allegations. We wanted to know what was it like being on the other side of a media exposé.We reached out to NBC and the reporters at the Hollywood Reporter for comment. NBC declined to comment and the reporters did not reply. In 2021, eager to make a quick comeback, Telegdy co-founded the entertainment company The Whole Spiel with his cousin. As an executive, she has worked across many areas of the entertainment industry, and now at WarnerMedia, she touches iconic brands such as CNN, Turner sports, Cartoon Network, and HBO and HBO, Max and Warner Brothers television, Warner Brothers films, Warner Brothers animation and Adult Swim - all with an eye on empowering diverse creators. Guest Bio Karen Horne Senior Vice President, Equity and Inclusion Programs WarnerMedia As a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, she has been recognized as a Diversity and Inclusion pioneer and pipeline builder. Since coming to WarnerMedia in March of 2020, Horne has been involved in creating and implementing multiple pipeline programs that aim to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities. These programs give talented individuals, who would otherwise not have the opportunity, access to the entertainment industry to showcase their talent. She has brought expertise gained from her career to create cohesive programs, ranging from entry-level to mid-career, that service the entire enterprise. These programs support expansion in areas that have not traditionally been serviced (i.e., virtual production, games, news and sports, animation, comedy, etc.). Before WarnerMedia, Horne was at NBC Entertainment and Universal Television Studios as Senior Vice President, Programming Talent Development and Inclusion where she was responsible for overseeing in-front-of and behind-the-camera primetime diversity efforts for NBC and Universal Television. While there, she started the Late-Night Writers Workshop in 2013 which changed the landscape of the writers' rooms by increasing the number of women and ethnically diverse men, both of which were lacking. Another extraordinary program she developed was Female Forward, which guaranteed shadowing directors an opportunity to direct an entire episode in addition to the traditional shadowing access. The programs and initiatives she created and/or developed became the industry's gold standard and a blueprint for many other companies. Her background in finding and developing new talent allows her great ease in working with the creative world, while her corporate upbringing and work with C-Suite executives allows her equal comfort in any board room. Horne has always been dedicated to increasing equity and inclusion in the entertainment industry throughout her career. She has been honored with several awards and recognitions for her diversity and inclusion work and her service to underrepresented communities. Horne serves on multiple industry boards and has spoken both nationally and internationally on diversity and inclusion best practices. She serves on the boards of Montclair State University's School of Communication and Media, USC's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, The Alliance of Women Directors, RespectAbility, and The Urban League of the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Today we're talking with the fantastic Kamala Avila-Salmon, head of inclusive content at Lionsgate, about some hard truths around media, entertainment and diversity. In this episode, there's a lot for us to think about as consumers, and as people in our own fields who might want to make change - things to think about to make sure we're not being performative and missing the mark, but instead, digging deep and thinking holistically about changing the narrative. Scott's previous roles include President of Turner Entertainment, CEO of Marvel, and President of NBC Entertainment—to name a few—but he currently serves as chairman of influencer-favorite beauty brand Milk Makeup. Conor and Scott start the episode by discussing the future of the consumer landscape in a vaccinated world, before diving into Scott's background and learning what initially drew him to the entertainment industry—where he worked his way up to running his own cable network at just 25 years old. We then discuss Scott's first pivot away from entertainment into tech, and hear about his time as CEO of Friendster. Scott then shares why he decided to enter the beauty industry and lead the Milk Makeup team, and reveals the key factors he believes have guided the brand to success. Of course, we end the episode by talking about the role of influencers, and hear why Milk Makeup chooses to take the organic path when it comes to building influencer relationships.

NBC is bringing back hit British import and international game show phenomenon "Weakest Link," co-produced by BBC Studios' Los Angeles production arm and Universal Television Alternative Studio. The network has greenlit 13 episodes of the rapid-fire quiz show with Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning host and actress Jane Lynch ("Hollywood Game Night," "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") set to host and executive produce. "Weakest Link" will begin production later this year. The new version of "Weakest Link" will deliver the fast-paced and quick-witted pillars of the original British format created by the BBC with a few modern twists. The hybrid game show sees contestants answer general knowledge questions to bank prize money across multiple rounds. At the end of each round, the contestants vote out who they perceive to be the "Weakest Link" remaining. "I've been a longtime fan of this game-changing quiz show since it first debuted," said Lynch. "Each time the phrase 'You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye.' passes my lips, it will be with great reverence and delight." "'Weakest Link' became an instant fan-favorite when it first aired on our network, and we are excited to bring a fresh, new take to the timeless format," said Meredith Ahr, President, Reality and Alternative Group, NBC Entertainment. "Jane Lynch has been a beloved staple in our NBC family for years, and her sharp wit and engaging personality will be the perfect match for this highly entertaining game show." "'Weakest Link' is an iconic format that BBC Studios has distributed across the globe for the past two decades, capturing audiences and earning a place in pop culture history," said Matt Forde, Managing Director, International Production & Formats, BBC Studios. "Our Los Angeles production arm is proud to partner with NBC to bring the fastest and fiercest game show on TV back to America, and Jane Lynch is the ideal host to bring her own signature brand of fearless comedy to this fresh version of 'Weakest Link.'" In each episode, eight contestants enter the studio as total strangers but must work together to bank the maximum amount of prize money available in each round. The contestants take turns to answer general knowledge questions to build chains of correct answers. Consecutive correct answers greatly increase the value of the chain, while incorrect answers break the chain and force the contestants to start over on the lowest rung with the smallest amount money. At the end of each round, contestants vote to eliminate the fellow contestant they consider to be the "Weakest Link" in the chain. The contestant who receives the highest number of votes leaves the game as the host declares the iconic phrase, "You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye." For 20 years, "Weakest Link" has been the fastest and fiercest quiz show on television. The massively successful format distributed by BBC Studios has been produced in 44 territories around the globe, with over 1,500 episodes having aired in the UK alone. The original run of "Weakest Link" on NBC launched on April 16, 2001 with 15.1 million viewers, giving NBC its biggest audience in the timeslot with regular programming in nearly five years, since May 1996. For that season, "The Weakest Link" averaged nearly 13 million viewers to rank among television's top 35 primetime broadcast series. Then presented by the original UK host, Anne Robinson's contemptuous interplay with the competitors set the show apart from its contemporaries. "Weakest Link" is casting now. This week on More Than A Pretty Face I get to talk with a dear friend and the all-around genuine soul that is Hannah Malone. Meeting Hannah when we were both Desk Assistants with NBC News, I got to see her passion for storytelling and how she discovered that journalism may not be her direct road to that passion. In this episode, we talk about how Hannah, in pursuit of change, moved towards the marketing side of storytelling. She packed up her apartment in DC, moved cross country to Los Angeles, and started a job with NBC Entertainment within two days of getting there. While marketing might not be the end all be all - storytelling definitely is. Hannah's ability to engage and champion for what she believed in was more realized in her new role. We talk about the path of getting to your passion, why she left journalism, and it's ok to still be figuring it out. Because, hey - we're still in a pandemic right? *Bonus* -- Hannah is the sister of MTAPF alum Madison Malone! Listen to Noelle (2020) talk about her internship at Universal Studios this past summer. Stephanie: You're listening to Gear Up, the Duke Career Center's student produced podcasts showcasing real students summer internship experiences. My name's Stephanie and today we're talking to Noelle, who worked at Universal Studios this past summer. Noelle: Hi, I'm Noelle. I'm a senior here. I am a Psych and VMS double major with a French minor potentially, if I can pull it off. Stephanie: I'm a French minor, too. Noelle: Aye! Stephanie: Where did you work this summer? Noelle: So this past summer, I worked at Universal Content Productions, which is the television studio in NBC Universal. So I was in Los Angeles on the Universal Studios lot. It was pretty cool. Stephanie: That is cool. How did you find out about the position? Noelle: So I did the Duke in L.A. program sophomore spring, which was where I got my first internship in L.A. and then just through really incredible Duke alumni I met there, I stayed for the summer and ended up working on the Universal lot and then loved it so much that I kept in touch with all the alum and kind of circled back and went back this past summer. So all thanks to Duke alum. We love them. But yeah, that's kind of how I found out about it. I reached out to Lisa Katz, who is co-president of NBC Entertainment, who I've formed a pretty good relationship with over the last year. Stephanie: She is a Duke alum? Noelle: She's a Duke alum. Stephanie: That's cool. Noelle: Yeah. So many Duke alum high up in the entertainment industry you never would know. But I've kept a pretty good relationship with her the last two, two and a half years. And I was like, hey, I'm really interested in doing this. She sent my resume to the right people and a few interviews later here we are. Stephanie: So what exactly were you doing day-to-day, I know nothing about the entertainment industry. Noelle: Umm most people don't. Day-to-day it was different for me because I was lucky that I got to work, I like alternated departments for days. So Monday, Wednesday, Friday I worked in Current Programing and then Tuesday, Thursday I worked in Development. So the difference is kind of Development is bringing in new projects, new IP, which is intellectual property. So like if a new book came out, I'd read that and like write coverage or like analyze the book and see like, would this be a good television show? Like, what demographic would it reach? How did I feel about it? Stephanie: That's cool. Noelle: Yeah, because I mean, the main demographic they're aiming for is basically people our age. So having somebody in the office that is 21 and like, would you watch this? And if I said no, then obviously they're going to take that into account. So that's kind of what I would do in Development. And then Current Programing was more kind of working with people who were on the shows. And I mean, I got to work with everybody who was writing like the last season, Mr. Robot and like Homecoming with Julia Roberts. It's very, very cool stuff. Stephanie: So it's very production oriented? Noelle: Yes, very much about production. Stephanie: Did you get to meet the people on the shows? Noelle: Some of them. Some people would just randomly walk in the office like Morgan Freeman came into the office one day and I was just sitting at my desk and I heard like, I feel like I hear God's voice. So I like walk into the lobby and Morgan Freeman's just standing there, he's like, hi, how are you? And I'm like, hello. Oh, hello. Stephanie: You were like I'm the intern here. Noelle: Which is just so obvious, honestly. But I loved it because I didn't really do a lot of like intern work is what I would call it. Like sometimes, like if they were really swamped, they'd have me like, go get the president's coffee or something. But it wasn't like all Excel spreadsheets and copy and paste this and clean the kitchen. It was very different.

This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: What do you think Guinan has been up to since Star Trek: Nemesis? AND CQ: Did you enjoy the 10th anniversary episodes? Where do you think the Star Trek Online story is going now? TREK IT OUT by Shane Hoover Executive Shuffle at ViacomCBS It's been a little less than two months since the formation of the new ViacomCBS, home to the Star Trek franchise. And now an article from The Hollywood Reporter gives us the rundown on a number of staffing shake-ups at the company. So far, one of the biggest impacts was felt in the CBS Ad Sales teams, which underwent a series of layoffs and promotions earlier this month. Also announced recently was the departure of Amy Doyle, who served as General Manager of MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo. Perhaps the highest profile change will be the arrival of George Cheeks, who leaves behind a co-chairman position at NBC Entertainment. Cheek's move comes as a bit of a surprise to many, given that he was promoted to the co-chair position only three months ago. It's speculated that Cheeks is arriving to be groomed as a replacement for CBS CEO Joe Ianniello. Ianniello was an ally of ousted CBS CEO Les Moonves, who fought Shari Redstone on the Viacom merger. When the merger was achieved, his position was placed beneath the authority of Viacom CEO Bob Bakish. So, the expectation is for Ianniello to head for the exit doors while Cheeks steps in as the head of the CBS house.  It's not unusual for corporate mergers to kick off a period of restructuring, so the changes aren't really surprising. And while we can't say what the shuffling at ViacomCBS will mean for Star Trek specifically, it certainly seems like the company has been putting its full weight behind the franchise with development and marketing efforts. With many Wall Street investment advisors listing ViacomCBS as a stock to watch for 2020, there's plenty of reason to be optimistic that Trek's future is secure. A Personal Invitation to Picard Season 2 Sir Patrick Stewart has teased invitations of a Season Two guest spot throughout the course of several interviewers this past week.  But if you're a viewer of ABC TV's “The View”, you may have seen by far the most touching invitation. Appearing on the show to promote his new series, Sir Patrick briefly took control of the conversation to declare that he had a formal invitation. Stewart addressed host Whoopi Goldberg, saying “Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior Executive Producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all of his colleagues - of which I am one - want to invite you into the second season.” The invitation was met with boisterous cheers from the studio audience and a joyful hug from Goldberg.  Whoopi Goldberg, well known to Trekkies for her role as TNG's Guinan, was moved near to tears by the invitation. She told the studio that Star Trek was “One of the great experiences of my life”, adding “I had the best time ever!” Picard Delta Popping Up If you're a Trekkie in New York or Los Angeles, you had a special chance this past week to participate in the buzz of the show. A large stage emblazoned with the show's title and a huge Starfleet delta was set up in each city for fans to get photo ops. In New York, the pop-up appeared in Times Square, and in LA it appeared in The Grove. If you were a lucky fan in LA, you might even have bumped into one of the show's stars, Jonathan Del Arco, who continues his role as Hugh from TNG. The star posted a photo of himself and his dog at the Starfleet Delta, along with a caption of “I'm an actor but I'm also a fan... also Roxy was hoping to meet Number One.” There doesn't seem to be a published schedule for the installation, so keep an eye on the @StarTrekCBS Twitter account to catch the Starfleet Delta when it lands somewhere near you. Chateau Picard Jean Luc wakes to the sound of songbirds and an enthusiastic greeting from Number One. Crossing the antique wood floors of the Chateau, he throws open the heavy curtains and gazes out across acres of wine grapes. The early morning sun sets a golden glow to the mists clinging to the hills of… Southern California's Santa Ynez Valley?? Yes, Captains, that's the truth behind the gorgeous filming of Star Trek Picard's Chateau Picard winery. In the show, the family winery nestles in beautiful La Barre, France. In reality, the LA based film crew looked a little closer to home. So we've learned from a recent article published in Wine Spectator magazine. The magazine spoke to the general manager of the Sunstone Winery, Dave Moser, who said that the production team were looking for a location that resembled a real French chateau. The winery was a great fit, with the property's villa built from architecture and pieces brought to the States from southern France. Naturally, the staff of the winery were bound to silence by Non-disclosure agreements until after the show was released. According to Moser, filming was achieved by overhead drones and a few shots of Picard and Data in the vineyard themselves. He described the cast and crew as humble, nice, and very accommodating. On the subject of expected interest from Trekkies, Moser said, “We encourage all the Trekkies and Trekkers to come visit us. It should be quite a few interesting weeks if not months.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Anthony Cox Star Trek Online: Legacy Launches Star Trek Online's Tenth Anniversary celebration is here with a brand new two part episode. There are new captain's traits for adapting your defenses and offenses in space and on the ground. Liberated Borg duty officers with interesting active duty abilities are also available. Borg technology kits frames and modules can give your captain all those fun Borg abilities we've seen in the television shows, and you can add to your arsenal with the Assimilated Plasma Weapons pack. Of course you'll be able to complete your Borg look by checking out the Lobi store for the Borg Exoskeletal Frame for Borg costume and the Biological and Technological Distinctiveness Extractor weapon. And the grand prize of the Borg Lock Box is none other than the Liberated Borg Command Juggernaut, similar to the Borg ship seen in The Next Generation episodes Decent Parts 1 & 2. Liberated Borg Command Juggernaut This bad boy features a Commander Tactical/Command station and a Lt. Tactical/Miracle Worker Station. It also comes with the Universal Console, Disruptive Topological Matrix, which when activated deals plasma damage to nearby enemies and inflicts Viral Disruption for a short duration. This console also provides a boost to Plasma damage and Hull Regeneration. The starship trait is Enhanced Nanite Regeneration. If slotted, activating a captain or bridge officer heal ability on yourself will gain a significant boost to hull regeneration. The boost increases in value the more hull your ship is missing. The Borg Juggernaut comes with an innate ability, Plasma Disintegrator, which fires a massive plasma bolt at your target which explodes on contact dealing a devastating amount of plasma damage to everything nearby. Fun Fact: Any foe who comes into contact with this bolt or explosion will disintegrate when defeated instead of warp core breaching. For a full list of the lock box items and stats of the Borg ship, trek out the show notes. Tenth Anniversary Legendary Starship Bundles It wouldn't be a proper Cryptic celebration without the need to talk yourself out of giving them more money. On February 13th, the 10th Anniversary Legendary Starship bundle will be available to purchase in the C-store on PC and then on March 3rd for console players.. Filled with some of the most sought after ships, this bundle includes new variations of the “hero” ships from the Star Trek universe. As of this recording only the Galaxy Class Legendary Command Exploration Cruiser and the Defiant Class Legendary Pilot Warship have been revealed, but rest assured that this pack will likely include many of the starships that have starred in our favorite Star Trek movies and tv shows across all of the multiverses. The Legendary Command Exploration Cruiser does come with the Enhanced Engineering Systems space set. Previously only available for Federation characters from the tier 4, 5, and 6 versions of the Exploration Cruiser. It also comes with the T6 cruiser ability and trait package along with a brand new account wide starship trait, “Make it so.” The Legendary Pilot Warship comes with the Stealth Fighter space set, again previously available on the tier 4, 5, and 6 versions of the Defiant.  Again, this ship comes with the warship ability and trait package and comes with the “Overpowered and over-gunned account wide starship trait.  Both of these ships come with all available visual variants including the new USS Ross variant for the Galaxy and the “nose art” variant for the Defiant. The “nose art” version allows you to add preset graphics to the nose of the Defiant, similar to old WWII bombers or the famous Defiant development patch designed by United States Air Force Top Gun artist Johnny Hawk for Doug Drexler's DS9 Technical manual.  The closer we get to February 13th the more ships that will be revealed as part of this bundle. Now you're probably wondering how much it's going to set you back for this bundle. Well, hopefully you're sitting down, not driving, and no where near any sharp objects.  The standard bundle, which includes 10 tier 6 ships, over 20 ship costume variants, including a new exclusive variant for each ship, all of the consoles and traits from previous versions of the ship, brand new traits, and 10 ship slots, is priced at 30,000 zen, with an introductory sale price of 19,500 zen. There is a premium bundle available, which includes everything we just mentioned, plus 10 master keys, 10 infinity R&D packs, 10 Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrades, 10 Phoenix prize packs, 100 Lobi, 1 Epic Phoenix Pize token, 10,000 Dilithium, and the exclusive title, “Legend of the Quadrants,” all for 45,000 zen, with an introductory price of 29,300 zen. If you're still conscious after that sticker shock, be sure to trek out the show notes for more details and to see the newly revealed ships. 10 Year Infographic Cryptic also released a fun infographic with some highlighted stats for the game. Of all accounts created, 41% are on PC, 33% are on Playstation 4, and 26% are on Xbox. There are 615 playable starships in the game. So far, close to 30 million tribbles have been bred. Captain Kurland “was here” over 62 million times, and Star Trek Online leeds episodic Star Trek with 183 playble episodes. That's 5 more than The Next Generation. The infographic also featured all of the Trek celebrities to voice characters in the game. All but a few voicing the same characters they played on television. This week on Priority One --- We dive into Picard Premier Promp… and circumstance. Star Trek Online’s 10th Anniversary now live with missions, new ships, and new ways to spend your money!! Of course, in On Screen we reunite with old friends and talk about Star Trek Picard’s premiere episode: Remembrance…  And of course, we can’t sign off without sharing your incoming messages. Of course, as always, before we wrap up the show, we’ll open hailing frequencies for your incoming messages Let us know on social media like Facebook, Twitter, or by visiting our website! This Weeks Community Questions Are: CQ: What do you think Guinan has been up to since Star Trek: Nemesis? AND CQ: Did you enjoy the 10th anniversary episodes? Where do you think the Star Trek Online story is going now? TREK IT OUT by Shane Hoover Executive Shuffle at ViacomCBS It’s been a little less than two months since the formation of the new ViacomCBS, home to the Star Trek franchise. Cheek’s move comes as a bit of a surprise to many, given that he was promoted to the co-chair position only three months ago. It’s speculated that Cheeks is arriving to be groomed as a replacement for CBS CEO Joe Ianniello. It’s not unusual for corporate mergers to kick off a period of restructuring, so the changes aren’t really surprising. And while we can’t say what the shuffling at ViacomCBS will mean for Star Trek specifically, it certainly seems like the company has been putting its full weight behind the franchise with development and marketing efforts. With many Wall Street investment advisors listing ViacomCBS as a stock to watch for 2020, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic that Trek’s future is secure. A Personal Invitation to Picard Season 2 Sir Patrick Stewart has teased invitations of a Season Two guest spot throughout the course of several interviewers this past week.  But if you’re a viewer of ABC TV’s “The View”, you may have seen by far the most touching invitation. Whoopi Goldberg, well known to Trekkies for her role as TNG’s Guinan, was moved near to tears by the invitation. She told the studio that Star Trek was “One of the great experiences of my life”, adding “I had the best time ever!” Picard Delta Popping Up If you’re a Trekkie in New York or Los Angeles, you had a special chance this past week to participate in the buzz of the show. A large stage emblazoned with the show’s title and a huge Starfleet delta was set up in each city for fans to get photo ops. In New York, the pop-up appeared in Times Square, and in LA it appeared in The Grove. If you were a lucky fan in LA, you might even have bumped into one of the show’s stars, Jonathan Del Arco, who continues his role as Hugh from TNG. The star posted a photo of himself and his dog at the Starfleet Delta, along with a caption of “I’m an actor but I’m also a fan... also Roxy was hoping to meet Number One.” There doesn’t seem to be a published schedule for the installation, so keep an eye on the @StarTrekCBS Twitter account to catch the Starfleet Delta when it lands somewhere near you. Chateau Picard Jean Luc wakes to the sound of songbirds and an enthusiastic greeting from Number One. Crossing the antique wood floors of the Chateau, he throws open the heavy curtains and gazes out across acres of wine grapes. The early morning sun sets a golden glow to the mists clinging to the hills of… Southern California’s Santa Ynez Valley?? Yes, Captains, that’s the truth behind the gorgeous filming of Star Trek Picard’s Chateau Picard winery. In the show, the family winery nestles in beautiful La Barre, France. In reality, the LA based film crew looked a little closer to home. So we’ve learned from a recent article published in Wine Spectator magazine. The magazine spoke to the general manager of the Sunstone Winery, Dave Moser, who said that the production team were looking for a location that resembled a real French chateau. The winery was a great fit, with the property’s villa built from architecture and pieces brought to the States from southern France. It should be quite a few interesting weeks if not months.” Star Trek Online and Gaming News by Anthony Cox Star Trek Online: Legacy Launches Star Trek Online’s Tenth Anniversary celebration is here with a brand new two part episode. My motto is to be the best you must hire the best. This practice is what helped me become a multi-millionaire. I’m well aware you can only go so far on your own. So when I set out to launch my second company, ProjectME with Tiffany Carter, I knew I had to hire the best even though this was a start-up company solely funded by me, myself and I. Since I’ve done this business building thing before, I’ve learned a thing or two from making a crap ton of mistakes. One of which, is I always regret it when I base my decisions on cost versus quality. To have the best, you have to pay a premium. You can’t buy a Coach bag and turn it into a Chanel. Although Coach is a good quality bag, it will never be a Chanel. Do you want your brand to be good, superior, or the best of the best? I searched for and hired the Chanel of the branding world, Jordan Duvall, to help match my vision of ProjectME into a visual symphony. Jordan is a Soul Brand Strategist, Certified NLP Practitioner and Success Coach. A group interview with Hollywood’s It boy Ben Silverman, founder and CEO of Electus. Ben is an uber hollywood producer known for hit shows like ‘The Office’ and ‘The Biggest Loser.’ He became head of NBC Entertainment before the age of 40, and his early success made him a hot target for criticism, something Silverman talks about at length. Joining us for this chat is Chris Burch, co-founder of Tory Burch and CEO of Burch Creative Capital. Both are great friends who’ve seen their share of struggles in the public eye. It’s a fascinating coffee talk conversation between two people who’ve achieved so much in their own careers.

JEFF GASPIN is a behemoth in the business.  He is best know for being the chairman of NBC Entertainment from 2009-2011, where he was responsible for generating over $10 billion in revenue, and was instrumental in the acquisition of "The Voice," and the growth of cable networks USA, SyFy, Bravo, Oxygen, and Telemundo.  He was also very involved with Universal Media Studios, which did “House," "30 Rock,” "Law & Order: SVU," and many more.  During his time as President and COO of NBC Universal Television Group from February 2007 to June 2009, he was involved in the early efforts to create the wildly successful Hulu media service and was an early proponent of online steaming video, resulting in doubled traffic to the company's various websites.  His efforts helped the company break ratings records and quadrupled growth in revenue and profits.   Gaspin was also responsible for bringing Jay Leno back to late-night television.  In 2012, he formed Gaspin Media, whose clients include AETN Networks, Discovery, Clear Channel (now iHeartMedia), and several private equity firms.  This past year, he has the executive producer for the tv shows “Barmaggedon," "Match Made In Heaven," “Fit2Fat2Fit,” and an updated version of "To Tell The Truth.”  Recently his latest initiative was as the CEO, Chairman, and founder of TAPP, a subscription platform connecting niche personalities with their superfans.

The Producer's Perspective Podcast with Ken Davenport

Robert Greenblatt is an American television executive, former Chairman of NBC Entertainment and current Chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment. He began his television career at the Fox Broadcasting Company, where he ran prime-time programming and developed such shows as the original Beverly Hills, 90210 and Melrose Place, The X-Files, and Party of Five. From 1997 to 2003, he was an award-winning producer of over a dozen series for various networks, including Six Feet Under. From 2003 to 2010, he was President of Entertainment for Showtime. Under his leadership, he developed and supervised award-winning shows like Weeds, Dexter, Californication, and The Tudors. As a theatrical producer, he developed the musical stage adaptation of 9 to 5, which  was nominated for four Tony Awards. Under his watch, NBC is also the home of Smash, The Sound of Music Live, Peter Pan Live, the upcoming The Wiz . . . and who knows what other Broadway-themed entertainment Bob is cookin’ up?  But whatever he’s got in mind, expect it to be good, and expect it to help continue to expand Broadway’s growin’ brand.  And we owe him a big thank you for that. I was able to thank him in person when he came to our office for this enlightening podcast about Broadway, television and their juxtaposition.   Listen in to hear Bob talk about . . . How does one get to be the Chairman of a network anyway? What he’d do differently if he were producing 9 to 5 again (Bob was the lead Producer of the Dolly musical). The reaction he got when he told his team he wanted to air a musical on NBC . . . live . . . and how he got the courage to do it anyway. Could a reality casting show work on network TV? How developing a television show is similar to developing a Broadway show. And lastly, you’ll hear a prediction at the end of the podcast from me, about how I expect Broadway to go through yet another growth period in a few years, and what will be the cause (hint, hint, it has something to do with today’s podcast guest).
