Episode summary: I am delighted to welcome our guest, Uche Chukwu, to our live podcast this week.  In this podcast, recorded live on March 10,2023 Uche Chukwu and Martin Cowart will lead a discussion to teach vulnerable LGBTQ Africans the best ways to safeguard themselves and their loved ones in this trying period. In light of the hostile rhetoric and government crack-downs on human rights groups in Africa, I invited Uche to be my co-host to talk with LGBTQ African's about the importance of protecting themselves from the hostile and dangerous environment where they are living.  Uche is a Nigerian-American gay man living in the United States. Uche moved to the United States at age 15 with his parents.  Uche's aware of the privileges of growing up gay in America. He believes this is his reality and not the reality of his LGBTQ Africans living in Africa.  LGBTQ people have no protection, especially from the government. It is important for LGBTQ Africans to protect themselves by not publicly displaying their identity as LGBTQ.  It is critical for LGBTQ Africans to be safe and not seen in order to protect themselves from potential harm.and need to take safe cover underground to protect themselves.  Kenya's First Lady Rachel Ruto has declared national prayers against homosexuality and the Ugandan Parliament has granted an MP leave to process the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, 2023, which would prohibit same-sex relationships. If you're LGBTQ living in Africa now is the time to be safe, not seen. Tune in to find out exactly how self-love and self-care is critical for your survival. We will tell you exactly what you must be doing to protect yourselves from the people on the ground who want to cause you harm.  If you're LGBTQ living in Africa, don't miss this opportunity to learn and share what we need to do to go undercover and protect yourself during unrest. Devoted to helping members of the African Diaspora LGBTQ community, Uche is a life coach and podcast host who works to enable LGBTQ Africans to reclaim their true selves in the face of systemic racism and homophobia. Nearly 1 in 10 LGBTQ people in the United States experienced workplace discrimination in the last year, and almost half faced employment bias at some point in their careers, according to a new survey. The findings were published Tuesday in a report titled LGBT People's Experiences of Workplace Discrimination and Harassment by the Williams Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law. It found that 46 percent of LGBTQ workers reported receiving unfair treatment at some point in their careers because of their sexual orientation or gender identity — including being passed over for a job, harassed at work, denied a promotion, or raise, excluded from company events, denied additional hours, or fired. An estimated 9 percent reported being denied a job or laid off in the past 12 months because of their orientation or identity. Episode summary    I am thrilled to be creating this special Live Stream Pride 2022 Broadcast with my gay brother and spiritual teacher David Devoré.   David is a gay thought leader, coach, yogi, and inspirational speaker. He is the creator of the “Gay Spirit Guys” Facebook group, where he's leading a movement to support the evolution of gay consciousness by the power of radical self-love, self-compassion, and self-awareness- healing.   He's on a mission to heal the pain and shame of internalized homophobia, so we can bring light to the gay community and heal external homophobia in the world.   In this special live Pride event, David and I decided to have some fun and expose the false narratives of the Institutional Church.   We both grew up within the Christian-Judaeo institutional church. In this conversation, we are including all religious power structures created by humans to disempower people with their beliefs, judgments, and opinions about who goes to heaven or hell.   Jesus was a revolutionary leader teaching a radically different path to the Kingdom of Heaven, that ended up costing him his life.   The problem began with the formation of the institutional church when the founders decided to make Jesus more divine than human, and Mary Magdalene a prostitute and created a litany of beliefs, judgments, and opinions to bring you closer to God.   None of this nonsense is true! We will suggest if you want to have deeply loving and intimate sex Jesus style, enter the Kingdom of Heaven, by emptying your mind and opening your heart, and unlocking the gate to your exciting raw creative sexual energy within you.   Knowing the truth, Jesus was a bisexual, is incredibly spiritually and sexually liberating. Let this scripture from The Secret Gospel of Mark wash over you.   “The young man looked at Jesus, loved him, and begged to be with him. Then they left the tomb and went into the young man's house. Six days later, Jesus gave him an order; and when evening had come, the young man went to him, dressed only in a linen cloth. He spent that night with him because Jesus taught him the mystery of God's domain.” The Secret Gospel of Mark, Chapter 1: 8-12   Please tune in Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 1:00 PM EDT / 8:00 PM EAT to our live stream to hear David Devore and me engage in this lively and liberating topic! I'm excited to have The Gay Leadership Dude™, owner and principal of TopDog Learning Group, Dr. Steve Yacovelli. He talks about his main hustle, his success story and how he managed to ride through those difficult times. We talked more about his hiring process and how his experience has been having fans on his own.    Dr. Steve Yacovelli has been in the leadership, learning and development, change management, and diversity and inclusion consulting space pretty much his whole career (about twenty-five years). In his consulting experience he's seen some leaders completely excel in their effectiveness, and some completely crash and burn due to their lack of competence in leadership skills. Steve's desire was to help both types of leaders be more effective, through coaching, formal and informal training, and just generally being there to support their leadershippiness.   A few years ago, Steve realized that the focus on specifically developing LGBTQ+ Leaders wasn't really top of mind for many organizations. Sure, there were a few conferences sessions, some random webinars, or even university-sponsored certificate programs, but nothing in a programmatic, cross-association, and at all levels within the leadership savviness scale. In short, a patchwork of effort and not necessarily a cohesive focus or movement.   So, “The Gay Leadership Dude™” was born. It's Steve's brand to “come out” and acknowledge the role he wants to take to give back to the LGBTQ+ Community and awesome Allies: to serve as a “lightning rod” of sorts to start a movement to grow LGBTQ+ Leaders and Allies to be even more effective, in a consistent, thoughtful, and mindful manner, especially those up-and-coming Leaders within the broader movement for equality and fairness for all LGBTQ+ people and well beyond.   Find more of Dr. Steve Yacovelli, his team, courses, books, and more: Web: http://topdoglearning.biz Podcast: http://topdog.click/podcast   Grab a copy of his book: Pride Leadership https://topdoglearning.learnworlds.com/books   Giveaway!!! As an out, LGBT entrepreneur business owner Steve Yacovelli has dealt with many facets of growing and sustaining a business. Focusing on what he is passionate about that drives education and growth for individuals and organizations in an authoritative yet approachable way. Leveraging his 25+ years of experience as a leadership, change management, and diversity and inclusion consultant to cultivating our collective leadership awesomeness. His book, “Pride Leadership,” is one of the first to focus on developing leadership talent specifically for the LGBTQ+ Community and its Allies. It's time to channel those qualities into being a more effective and consciously inclusive leader within the workplace and beyond. So, “The Gay Leadership Dude” was born. It's his way to give back to the LGBTQ+ Community: to start a movement to grow LGBTQ+ Leaders to be even more effective, in a consistent, thoughtful, and mindful manner. He is especially focused on those up-and-coming Leaders within the broader movement for equality and fairness for all LGBTQ+ people and well beyond. Pride Leadership: Strategies for the LGBTQ+ Leader to be the King or Queen of their Jungle Critically-acclaimed and award-winning book for LGBTQ+ Leaders and Allies to help expand their leadership skills to better explore what's working and reflect on what could be improved upon. “Pride Leadership” provides the strategies and tools to build a network of leadership support.
