This week on the podcast I am joined by Brit Kolo from Marketing Personalities. After spending years working as a marketing coach, Brit created her own business where she studied the 16 Myers-Briggs (MBTI) personality types and determined what the best marketing strategy is for each of them. On this episode, Brit and I talk about Marketing Personalities, including why this important, how we can use our individual marketing personality to our benefit in our businesses, and how to start saying "no" to the things we think we should be doing in our businesses but aren't serving us. Brit also goes through my MBTI personality type - ENJF - and gives some examples of the type of marketing that ENFJ's (like me!) should be doing in their businesses. This was a really eye opening episode for me, and since implementing the strategies of my marketing personality into my business, I've seen a ton of shifts away from the things I think I should be doing and towards the marketing strategies that excite and light me up most. Enjoy! *This episode originally aired in June 2019
Have you considered building a marketing strategy based on your personality type? If you've found that you don't enjoy the marketing you're doing in your business, you're struggling to manage it, or you don't think it is working for you, it could be that it does not fit your personality! Brit Kolo of Marketing Personalities has taken the 16 Myers-Briggs personality types and developed marketing plans that align with each. In today's episode, she joins us to share how you can remove the pressure that comes with marketing and build a marketing strategy that matches your personality, which ultimately feels more natural and delivers more results. Hello...thanks for listening! I found out about Danielle Tucker when we attended a zoom meeting and I Ioved her energy and so I decided to reach out to her and now we're "biz buddies"! :) She talks about a lot of things on this episode...like 'jumping without a net' and being a digital nomad for many years, realizing that she needed to take self-care and then slowing down to create a 3-day workweek! She talks about: "Focusing on things that recharge you instead of draining you" "Giving yourself grace" "Automate so the sales process feels aligned for you and how you function" "More freedom" "Start automating things and to structure things so that they are uniquely aligned to how you function"....which is especially helpful for Introverts and HSP's! and we both discuss how the same feelings for 'nervousness' and 'excitement' on how they're essentially similar and that it's just how we choose to 'think' about them and work through them that make all of the difference... we also speak about how "Comparison-itis is the thief of joy!"... And last but not least she speaks about how she has created her work schedule to be: Working Tuesday-Thursday and that on these days she does, business tasks such as operations, supporting clients, doing marketing so that she can travel and see family from Friday-Monday! She focuses on her business/work tasks as: 1. Sales 2. Marketing 3. Operations 4. Ongoing Relationships with Clients and ultimately 'automating' work tasks (the tasks that *can be automated), so that she can have a 3-Day Workweek! Danielle P. Thanks for tuning in for another episode! As I am with all episodes, I'm really looking forward to this conversation because I'm sharing an audio lesson from inside Biz to Brand Academy. This lesson, "Buyer Beware", is a look at some of the prominent marketing personalities we've seen emerge in the online business space over the last few years. And looking at both the persona evolution and potential for harmful impact as a result.1 The Online Celebrity2 The Role Model3 The Bro Boss4 The Prosperity CoachI'm sharing this for two reasons--First, I honor an entrepreneur's choice when making business decisions. These personalities are super persuasive (that's how they make their $$). Before investing for your own business you can learn more about the roots of each style and what to watch out for as you navigate your own educational investments.Second, in my own experience I made a lot of mistakes by looking at these types of marketing models. Whether I knew it was harmful or not, the impact remains, and I want to pass the information I wish I had then, but didn't, on to you so you are able to avoid some of these missteps. Here we go... taking a look at 4 marketing personalities (the online celebrity, the role model, the bro boss, and the prosperity coach) that are trending in the online space and what to be mindful of as you look to their self-proclaimed expertise for help.
This week on the podcast I am joined by Brit Kolo from Marketing Personalities. Brit first joined me on the podcast back in 2019 to talk about how to use your Myers Briggs personality type to decide what type of marketing to do in your business. In this episode, we're taking it one step further to talk about how to make strategic business decisions that feel aligned. Often times when we're not making decisions that feel aligned, we can feel burnout or resentful towards our work and our business and we share tools and strategies to fall back in love with your business and feel aligned with the work you're doing and the clients that you're working with. Brit Kolo, founder of Marketing Personalities is today's talk show guest. Brit's entire business was created to help entrepreneurs and small business owners discover how to market their businesses in a way that feels good to them and in this week's episode, she joins Rebecca to expand that topic into how to be yourself in a small town. Learning to embrace who you really are extends far beyond business and impacts every other aspect of life. Living in a small town can feel like you're under more of a microscope than in larger communities; there is literally no way to be anonymous. That in itself is not a bad thing, but it can present a problem for people when it comes to finding the courage to be themselves. In small towns, progress and innovation can only happen when people are brave enough to step up and try new things; the only people who can do that are people who know and trust themselves. This episode can help you start that journey—and it is a journey, there are no shortcuts to personal growth. Be sure to visit Marketing Personalities to discover your best marketing strategy based on your MBTI type and connect with Brit over on Instagram or Facebook to get daily encouragement to own who you are and believe that you're enough. Just as you are.

Understanding your personality type can have a really powerful impact on your business, and can help you structure a high performing and successful business model. In Rebel Boss Ladies episode 028, I finally took a personality test and it turns out that I am an INFP-T, or a mediator. I recommend finding out your personality type before listening to this episode, you can do that by going to 16 Personalities, which lets you take a free Meyers-Briggs assessment. Now I've never really been a huge fan of putting labels on myself and I think that's why I never took the test. But as my business has grown every year, and particularly a lot over the past 12 months, I realized I needed to be more open minded to this kind of information. In this episode, I'm going to talk to my good friend Brit Kolo about why knowing your personality type is important when you're creating your business strategy. She's the creator of the Marketing Personality Type Framework at marketingpersonalities.com, as well as the host of the Marketing Personalities podcast. Through Brit's framework you are able to match your Myers-Briggs personality type with a marketing strategy. Today, she's here to shake up your approach to marketing and inspire you to grow your business in a really feel good way. As you're listening to this episode, I hope you'll start thinking about how YOUR personality type affects you and your business. The purpose of this episode is not for you to learn about my personality type. It's for you to learn how you can take information about yourself and your personality and begin to customize your business around that, rather than the other way around. Instead of forcing yourself to fit molds, Brit will help you to understand how to do the opposite so that you can really enjoy your business and marketing. //GUEST BIO// Brit Kolo is the Creator of the Marketing Personality Type Framework at MarketingPersonalities.com and the Host of the Marketing Personalities Podcast. We continue to be delighted that we can keep celebrating our one-year podcast anniversary in true introvert fashion—separately, in the comfort of our own homes. To round out this party we’ve got another special episode for you! It’s an interview with an expert, except this time the expert is interviewing us. We invited our friend Brit, creator of Marketing Personalities and proud listener of every episode we’ve ever published, to ask us her most burning questions, and she delivered! She wanted to know things like: Why did you start a podcast, and how did you actually feel about making something brand new? (Hint, one of us was thrilled, the other had to be convinced). Do you ever get totally SICK of thinking on a deep level?? What’s the one thing each of you continually trips over in life? Your Achilles Heel, so to speak. You guys have a great dynamic, but what do you actually end up arguing about? Can you riff on how difficult it is to brag about yourself, as a woman? How do we not diminish our accomplishments? What do you each think your ultimate life purpose is? Do YOU have any burning questions for us after listening to this? We’re always game to answer, in the comments! And, if you missed our first celebratory episode, a couple weeks ago we played “36 questions to fall in love with anyone,” which was a real blast. At the end of that episode we also shared the top 10 most downloaded episodes from the past year, so check that out, too: THE ONLY REAL PRISON IS THE ONE IN YOUR HEAD At the end of this episode you’ll hear Rachel say that one of the most common things she tells her clients is this: “You’re sitting in a jail cell, feeling sad and frustrated and completely powerless to escape … except you’re holding a key.” Coaching is the thing that helps you realize how you’ve been holding yourself back, and then how to free yourself. Plus, it helps you figure out what to do once you are free. If that sounds like what you need, we’d love to chat with you about the possibility of coaching. Brit Kolo is the creator and the mastermind behind Marketing Personalities, a company whose tagline is, "you shouldn’t have to feel fake & salesy to grow your business." What's rad about Brit is that she helps give permission to ditch every preconceived notion you've ever had about selling your product and/or service, and instead base your entire marketing strategy around who you are as a human. Brit is a deep feeler who loves deep conversation and is a believer in better. Her goal is to make this life awesome for herself and others by being the person she's meant to be: herself. “You don’t have to be anybody other than yourself and you’re not here to be anybody but yourself.” Promoting and selling is something I've struggled with since quitting my 9-5. This conversation with Brit validates the belief that running and growing a business doesn't have to feel icky. Instead, marketing your business can serve in the best way possible.
