I don’t think anybody is surprised that once again the monthly new release episode is a two parter. That’s the way this excellent year in music has gone, and will hopefully carry on all the way through December. This week’s episode kicks off with a “friends of the show” series of tracks. There’s the latest in White Rose Motor Oil’s “pre-owned songs” series, along with the monthly releases of new tracks by Rob Moss and Skin-Tight Skin and Rob’s side project Robotom, LTD. But there’s also the exciting news that fellow RealPunkRadio DJ Greg Lonesome, host of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Manifesto, has a new project called Intrusice Thoughts. As legendary blogger Lord Rutledge wrote on his Faster and Louder blog, “the band’s debut single ‘Daytime Drama’ is a ferocious shot of rockin’ old school punk with a very important message. Greg wrote the lyrics as a reflection of how he felt starting therapy…of course ‘Daytime Drama’ is a dark song, but it ends with a glimmer of hope.” Along with these great tunes from our pals, there’s a set devoted to the fantastic Jem Records Celebrates Jagger & Richards, along with new music by Buffalo Tom, Memo PST, Ultrabomb, Micah Schnabel, […]

On this week's episode, we are joined by Micah Schnabel! Micah started his musical career with the band Two Cow Garage, which is still performing after over 20 years as a band. He's a guitarist in Call Me Rita. And, he's a rather prolific solo artist with numerous releases under his belt and a new one on the way. When he's not making music, he's writing books. His second novel, The Clown Watches the Clock, was released earlier this year and is currently on sale via his Bandcamp and other retailers. We were grateful to sit down with Micah to discuss his path in music, songwriting, creating novels and how absurd out world can be at times. We hope you have as much fun with this one as we did. It's a good one! This week I sat down to talk with Micah Schnabel, the front man of one of my all-time favorite bands, Two Cow Garage. We Talk about how his songwriting has changed over the years, the pandemic, future plans and the message behind the music.
Singer-songwriter Micah Schnabel joins improvisers Brian Huskey, Eugene Cordero, and Dan Lippert on this week’s improv4humans with Matt Besser! Micah plays songs that inspire scenes about speaking directly to the jury, car dealership mascots, gigging at a firing range, and more.

We’re wrapping up the year with some great episodes. This week features the final new release episode of the year, and there’s some great new tunes by artists such as Two Cow Garage’s Micah Schnabel, Graham Parker, Drive-By Truckers, The Whiffs, Gino and the Goons, and so many more. This month also sees the debut album for local post-punkers Lot Lizard, and I’m so proud of what they accomplished on this record. For more info, check out their bandcamp page! Besides all the new tracks, I made a last minute executive decision to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones’ disastrous Altamont concert. I have a feeling some time during this weekend I’m going to have to once again view “Gimme Shelter”. After listening, please go purchase those tracks you enjoy!

Episode Notes The 1963 disappearance of Ruth Guthrie, Tommy Sumerix and Joe Kulesza Over a period of 10 days in June of 1963, three Summit County children disappeared. For months, three communities held their collective breath as investigators and families searched, then ultimately waited. The next year, one by one, their fates would be revealed. www.ohiomysteries.com feedback@ohiomysteries.com www.patreon.com/ohiomysteries www.twitter.com/mysteriesohio www.facebook.com/ohiomysteries Music: Scared of Heights, by Micah Schnabel. Modern folk singer/songwriter Michal Schnabel joined “On the Record Music” ahead of his local show next week. Schnabel is slated to open for ska band the Toasters on Monday, June 18 at Cafe Nine.

Micah Schnabel dives into The Marinade! Micah is best known for his work with the band Two Cow Garage but we talk more about his solo work in this conversation. He recently released his masterwork to date, a record called Your New Norman Rockwell. It is intensely personal and political- an important piece of art that we highly recommend you put into heavy rotation. Micah goes deep on the creative process, how music filled the void left when his baseball career ended, lessons he has learned about relationships, and so much more. You can find Micah's albums on his bandcamp page and his partner Vanessa's work on Etsy.
