Warning to Europe And America Against Falling for PA's "Moderate" Label - Alan Skorski Reports

Israel News Talk Radio

Play Episode Listen Later May 22, 2025 33:06

https://youtu.be/XwRugE-3uK4?si=oabSMi5lWDPVhIzG Alan Skorski recently interviewed Itamar Marcus, director of Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), who issued stark warnings about Western perceptions of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and its potential role in governing Gaza. Palestinian Media Watch, an Israeli watchdog organization, monitors media and official communications coming from Palestinian territories, including both the Judea-Samaria region and Gaza. Marcus has long contended that both the PA and Hamas share similar rhetoric and incitement against Israel. Speaking during the interview, Marcus cautioned that “the biggest mistake the international community is making is thinking the Palestinian Authority is a good alternative to Hamas.” He argued that if the PA were to take control of Gaza, it would result in “another Hamas in Gaza,” operating under a different name but maintaining the same ideological foundation. When asked why many European officials and some Democrats in the United States continue to support the creation of a Palestinian state, despite Hamas-led violence across Western cities, Marcus said decades of exposure to slogans like “from the river to the sea” have normalized such views. “It became so normalized,” Marcus said, “that creating a new PA state seemed the logical position to take for many of these reckless leaders.” During the interview, Marcus shared video clips PMW produced that draw comparisons between Palestinian Authority rhetoric and Adolf Hitler's speeches. In one clip, PA President Mahmoud Abbas is heard claiming Hitler did not kill Jews out of hatred, but because Jews “brought ruin to Germany and Europe.” Marcus said this narrative mirrors the PA's current justification for terror attacks against Israel — not as acts of antisemitism, but as responses to alleged Jewish transgressions in the region. Marcus also expressed concern about a possible conflict of interest in the Trump administration's dealings with Qatar. He noted that while the administration has criticized U.S. universities for antisemitic incidents and cut federal funding in some cases, it has simultaneously engaged in business dealings with Qatar — a nation he said donates heavily to those same universities. For example, our Third Lad this week, one of the greatest songwriters that Australia has ever produced (and an artist who is on the short list of Brett's musical heroes), Peter Milton Walsh from The Apartments! PMW has led the Apartments in various incarnations since 1978, starting with the spiky indie pop of the EP 'The Return of the Hypnotist' on The Go-Betweens' Able Label. After brief stints with The Go-Betweens and Ed Kuepper's post-Saints band The Laughing Clowns, the Apartments reformed in 1984 with the classic single "All You Wanted." Their first full length, 'The Evening Visits...And Stays For Years', followed in 1985 on Rough Trade, with the 1987 single "The Shyest Time" featured on the John Hughes soundtrack for Some Kind of Wonderful. Among the Apartments' string of breathtakingly gorgeous, diverse records are 'Drift' (1993), 'A Life Full Of Farewells' (1995), 'Apart' (1997), 'No Song No Spell No Madrigal' (2015), and 'In And Out Of The Light' (2020). Can You Wear a Weighted Vest with Osteoporosis?

The Flipping 50 Show

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 16, 2024 45:12

The short answer is yes. The long answer here in this episode is how. Using a weighted vest with osteoporosis comes up frequently as a question. Whether or not you have osteoporosis, stay with me, as I will talk about the overall benefits and science that's been out since at least 2000, perhaps as long as I've been using my weighted vest. Questions I'll Answer in this Episode: Can you use a weighted vest with osteoporosis? [00:06:20] If so, how do you get started safely? [00:09:30] What weight should you be using? [00:39:00] What if you have already fractured? [00:06:30] What if you have chronic upper back and neck pain? [00:40:20] Within this episode I'll show some images of my weighted vest and what you want to look for. They're so much better now than they used to be! It was an injury weighting (see what I did there?) to just put one on two decades ago. And they definitely were  not made for women. I've been lecturing about osteoporosis and osteopenia since 1995. That first adult education class I taught was the first time I left my house without my infant son, I think! Back then I had to draw pictures on the chalkboard of modeling and remodeling of bone, explain these then, new terms, and what was happening. And… we had a list of contraindications that are no longer the best science we have. While much of the decade-by-decade steps to build bone and then prevent or slow loss still are true, the veil of doom has been lifted. We no longer have to pop someone into bubble wrap. But you might think so because a search online will bring up ALL the content over decades. You'll think you are a delicate flower and that oh, my you shouldn't do rotation ever. And this fear mongering has to end - not that you shouldn't be informed about how to exercise correctly and what starting and progression looks like. Breaking Barriers Using Weighted Vest with Osteoporosis Back in 1996 I started working with one client, and then another would be diagnosed with osteoporosis. If you're listening, Mary, you were the first to break some barriers and overcome the fear. You had a good doctor who understood the whole person, and the real way healed. If I were concerned about osteoporosis, what I would do: Resistance training - progressive overload to as heavy as safely possible. My preferred is 5 x 5 reps Employ power in those workouts High Impact - at least 4 sets of 10-20 impacts a day most days of the week Moving during the day, breaking up sedentary periods of time, on non-exercise or recovery days (from strength training and HIIT with impact) the addition of weighted vest during walks or movement around house Whole Body Vibration use most days of the week (in conjunction with strength training and for balance or core exercise. (I use the Move: https://www.flippingfifty.com/powerplate and you can get 20% off with code Flipping50) Yoga consistently for the anti-gravity benefit of unique positions (and maintenance of mobility crucial to stability) Though wearing a weighted vest did not have a significant positive impact on the lumbar spine, Whole Body Vibration does. “lumbar spine BMD (MD: - 0.01; 95% CI [- 0.02, - 0.01]) reduced significantly when aerobic exercise training was used as intervention compared with RCTs that utilized resistance training, combined training, and WBV. By contrast, these analyses did not have significant effect on change in femoral neck BMD. WBV is an effective method to improve lumbar spine BMD in older PMW.” References: Mohammad Rahimi GR, Smart NA, Liang MTC, Bijeh N, Albanaqi AL, Fathi M, Niyazi A, Mohammad Rahimi N. Internet ads – you probably see hundreds, maybe thousands a day without thinking about them. But it turns out the process for serving those ads involves a highly complex digital supply chain that generates 7.2 million tons of carbon emissions annually. That's why ad-tech veteran Anne Coghlan is on a mission to decarbonize media and advertising with Scope3. A lifelong lover of logic and problem-solving, Anne earned her Master's at University College London in the Philosophy of Mathematics, later joining digital advertising company AppNexus in 2015. There she met future Scope3 co-founder Brian O'Kelley and helped to develop many of the technologies that underpin digital ad delivery today. When Anne left the ad industry to join supply chain tech company Waybridge, she began to notice that a lack of consideration for sustainability and energy consumption existed across both industries. So, in 2021, she reunited with O'Kelley and other AppNexus alumni to found Scope3, a public benefit corporation aiming to decarbonize advertising and media by better measuring the carbon emitted from digital display and video ads. In 2023, Anne made AdAge's 40 under 40 list and secured the #2 most influential person in performance media on PMW's Power 100 List, but the COO of Scope3 is just getting started. Hear Anne Coghlan share how her love for math ultimately led to co-founding a startup, why online ads only scratch the surface of Scope3's potential use cases, and what the future holds for decarbonized digital media.Episode Highlights00:00 Anne Coghlan on decarbonizing digital supply chains 00:53 Conor Gaughan introduces Anne Coghlan and Scope305:08 The beauty of math, interest in music, and academic pursuits 16:10 Studies to consulting, joining AppNexus, and Waybridge 21:27 Launching Scope3, how it works, and the media industry's footprint34:14 Problem solving with math, maximizing impact, and open sourcing tech45:01 What's next, remaining optimistic, and the future of sustainable ads49:39 Where to learn more51:32 End creditsIf you liked this episode, listen next to Allison Wolff of Vibrant Planet on Beneficial Fire, Sustainable Software, and Nature-Based Climate SolutionsMore on Scope3 and Anne Coghlan:scope3.com linkedin.com/company/scope3data linkedin.com/in/annecoghlan Connect with Conor Gaughan on linkedin.com/in/ckgone and threads.net/@ckgone Have questions, or a great idea for a potential guest? Two Nice Jewish Boys
#352 - Palestinian Media Watch: Exposing the Palestinian Ideology of Hate (Itamar Marcus)

In early December, as the dust settled on the devastating, barbaric massacre which Hamas perpetrated on October 7th, a Palestinian official made a seemingly unsurprising statement, for a Palestinian official that is. He said that what took place on October 7th wasn't terror, but rather “a response to Israeli terror” and called on “all factions to unite in combat against Israel”. Again, unsurprising for a Palestinian official. What's surprising is that these weren't the words of a Hamas official but rather Jibril Rajoub, a prominent figure within the Palestinian Authority. This statement is a stark reminder of the deep-seated narratives upheld by some within the Palestinian Authority, who govern the territories of Judea and Samaria. Some claim a second October 7th is imminent if nothing is done to curtail the PA and the Palestinians in the so-called West Bank. All of this raises profound questions, especially when juxtaposed against the backdrop of suggestions from many, both in Israel and around the world, that the Palestinian Authority should in fact take over governance in Gaza post-Hamas. To dig into all this, we turn to Itamar Marcus, the founder and director of Palestinian Media Watch, PMW. Through relentless scrutiny and documentation, PMW has exposed the often-hidden undercurrents of glorification and support for violence within the PA's communication channels. PMW and Itamar Marcus have received multiple awards including Marcus being named one of the "top 100 people positively influencing Jewish life or the State of Israel.” by The Algemeiner newspaper. Marcus also represented Israel in negotiations with the Palestinians from 1998-1999 during the Oslo Accords. We are thrilled to be joined today on the podcast by Itamar Marcus to discuss the PA and the future of the Palestinian Israeli conflict.

The latest report by Palestinian Media Watch shows the direct linkage between US funding of the Palestinian Authority and  UNRWA and the murder of Jews. Speaking with Maurice Hirsch, Legal Director of PMW about this latest report. This is an absolute immoral disgrace and the US government does not care. Instead, the Biden administration has recently promised more money to fund and train an even more dangerous Palestinian Authority militia. Which means, actual support for the future murder of more Jews.
