Special guests Sarah Stone and Evan McClanahan join us to disucss their innovative initiative, Theology by the Pint. This exciting forum has transformed the traditional setting of theological discussions by incorporating a casual atmosphere where young professionals can gather, pint in hand, to delve into deep and sometimes controversial topics.Sarah and Evan share their experiences of hosting these events, emphasizing the importance of creating a warm and charitable environment even when discussing contentious issues such as LGBTQ matters within the church. Their approach to include diverse viewpoints, like an affirming pastor, showcases their commitment to love and charity in disagreements, and underscores the value of humor and respect in such dialogues. The episode also touches on making theological discussions accessible to a broad audience, from those well-versed in theology to individuals who might feel overwhelmed by complex jargon. Sarah shares her strategy of pausing to clarify terms and encouraging explanatory parenthetical statements to ensure everyone is on the same page. The conversation further explores the organization's democratic process in choosing discussion topics, the types of government systems they tackle, the impact of political rhetoric on Christian beliefs, and the ever-present challenge of maintaining integrity while hosting diverse and sometimes conflicting views. Listeners will also get a preview of upcoming events, including a notable June 11, 2024, gathering with Norman Horn, founder of the Libertarian Christian Institute. Additionally, the episode highlights the community aspects of Theology by the Pint events, which feature social hours, charity spotlights, trivia, and open Q&A sessions allowing for real-time audience engagement.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com

In Episode 119 of The Business Habitat podcast, Sam is joined by Executive General Manager of Ab2 Institute of Accounting, Sarah Stone, to talk about the impact of education in the workplace and how the right training framework can boost business performance and attract the best talent to your organisation. With close to twenty years' experience in the education industry, Sarah draws on her background in the tourism and media sectors, where she worked for the likes of Foxtel and Austar in the learning and development space. This involvement stirred Sarah's interest in understanding the role of education in setting employees apart from the rest. In this podcast she shares her fascination with producing and delivering superior business outcomes through people performance. Sarah and Sam delve into the difference between education in the corporate sector compared to the professional services environment and why the necessity for CPD hours creates a focus on technical skills at the expense of broader business knowledge. Sarah explains the importance of a company's learning and development culture in attracting and retaining great talent, and how that perspective is driven from the top. Often referred to as “soft skills', Sarah talks to the need for training in the right “success skills” and why organisations are increasingly driven to seek out leaders with demonstrated ability to bring people along for the journey and inspire and motivate them. Sam reminds us that as we move towards heart-centred businesses with an emphasis on aligned goals and values, the importance of people focused skills becomes even more important, whether it's dealing with staff, colleagues or clients. By drawing on their own real life experiences and sharing their perspectives on ongoing learning and personal and professional development, Sam and Sarah deliver a compelling episode filled with practical examples and even some book references to further the conversation. As a critical component of continual improvement, the role of education and learning in business success cannot be denied. This conversation will help you reflect on where that focus is best placed. Here at BlueprintHQ, we are here to help. We are super passionate about the professional services industry and supporting you with what you need. Natalie and Emma also listed empathy in their top three practices. Empathy easily beats out characteristics that you might expect people to nominate, such as challenging, charismatic, confidence, dependable, dynamic, persistent, and progressive, to name just a handful.   What Makes a Great Coach? gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own coaching practices.  So join us for this Coaching Café this week where we share the research and stories around empathy from the book.  And most importantly key questions that we can all use to reflect on how we bring empathy to our coaching and our work.   Watch the webinar of this episode or read the blog by visiting our website. Helping you intentionally create health, wealth and happiness in your life, home and business by using the life-changing, game-changing magic of Creative Feng Shui. I specialise in helping my clients create an environment which is set for success, health, wealth and happiness - this also includes inviting more peace, harmony and family flow into homes by creating a space that positively reflects who you are, who you're becoming, how you want to feel and more importantly how you want to be LIVING INTENTIONALLY - mind, body, soul and home.I truly believe that success is available to all of us and there's never been a better time for more women to embrace positive change and consciously create their own unique pathway to success... because life is worth WAY more than just settling or standing on the sidelines watching everyone else gloating about the size of their bank balance, latest launch charts or how their life is so perfect...My job is to help my clients see the opportunities life brings (curve balls and all), I help them strategise a way forward and more importantly, create a safe space for them to feel empowered enough to do the work and the opportunity to stay accountable to their vision.I do this by combining all the skills, strategies and expertise I've gained over the years; alongside the ancient art of traditional feng shui, science-backed formula of conscious visualisation and harnessing what truly energises you. Brought together this allowed me to birth my own modality, Creative Feng Shui which has quickly become a lifestyle choice, a.k.a: INTENTIONAL LIVING.Using the “MAGIC MAP” is focus energy towards 9 areas of the traditional “BAGUA MAP”:●  Wealth and Abundance●  Fame and Reputation●  Personal and Professional Relationships●  Legacy Creation and Creativity●  Helpful People and Travel●  Career and Life Journey●  Self Knowledge and Personal Development●  Family and New Beginnings●  Balance, Health and CenteringIt's about time:It's time to reimagine what's possible. It's time to stop trying to fix yourself and create yourself instead. It's time to elevate your lifestyle choices and live what you love. It's time to have the freedom to focus on what's most important to you. Julia Sarah Stone's filmography is populated by wildly vulnerable characters, like Lyric on AMC's The Killing, Eva in Geoff Redknap's stellar “disappearing man” film, The Unseen, and Junior in Ali Liebert's The Quieting, as well as in indie gems like Honey Bee, Allure, Weirdos, and Everything Will Be Fine. Whatever the project, Julia communicates the pain, sadness, anger, and fleeting joy of her characters with empathy and astonishing ferocity. Julia's latest film is Come True. She plays Sarah Dunne, a teenage runaway who takes part in a sleep study that turns into a nightmarish descent into the depths of her mind. Come True is the newest offering from Canadian genre favourite, Anthony Scott Burns, who also directed Our House. In this illuminating episode of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast – an episode for people who love acting, or who seek to understand what it is that actors love about acting – Julia talks about the responsibility she feels towards the marginalized characters she plays, pursuing truth and purpose in her work, and why owls are very, very cool. You’re about to hear the name Julia Sarah Stone quite a bit. The young Canadian acting phenom is turning Hollywood heads with a focused talent and poise well beyond her years. Her latest movie, the unique sci-fi thriller “Come True,” which has been wowing audiences at festivals, is opening Friday March 12th from IFC Midnight. In this episode, she talks about the “playable” characteristic that helped her performance in that film, the traps actors easily fall into when they lay in the emotion while losing sight of basic aspects such as motivation, and why she always wants to be a student of the craft, no matter where her career takes her. Plus much more! She’s the kind of actor that will make you want to open Final Draft and finally start writing that script. Follow Back To One on Instagram

Burns requires serious emotional openness and evolution from Julia, where her internal shifts in her subconscious and unconscious fully drive the narrative. It's Julia's show. Her face is the star of the movie. And she's got one of those faces. It's a classic you don't forget. Added iconic short blonde hair. Julia's young but already a serious veteran a decade into her career. Loved talking craft with her and getting inside what she brought us in Come True. Hello you lovely lot, I just thought it was time to give you a little update about the podcast series and when it will be back. Obviously, there has been a world load of changes since I announced the new series back in February – something that has affected the release of the podcast – however, there have been some exciting updates happening whilst we’ve been locked down. New Episodes have been recorded with the lovely Sarah Stone from the co-working hubs, Artist Hannah Shergold, Author Fiona Stanford and of course the COVID response episode with the fab Georgie from Chasing Lobsters whose advice for getting through this time is brilliant. I would highly recommend going back and listening to that episode if you are struggling. And of course, thank you to the Royal British Legion for their continued support with sponsoring this entire series. But, it’s not just podcasting that’s been keeping us busy. If you are a member of the Milspo Business Network you’ll have noticed a load of changes. There’s the thriving Facebook networking group, which you are all very welcome to join where over 500 of us are supporting each other build amazing businesses. Make sure you’ve joined it. There are details over on milspo.co.uk We have been keeping up with the monthly online networking sessions that were launched last year to great effect, and, in direct response to COVID 19 we now also meet every Wednesday to check-in and help the more isolated members of the network stay connected. It was clear really early on that a lot of us might struggle with deployments and postings at this time so I am really happy to say that these weekly meetups – that we call Milspo Meet-Ups – are a massive success. So much so that we are already planning real-life meet-ups and a Christmas party when this is all over. Unfortunately, as expected and experienced by all a lot of real-life events that we planned never made it to fruition, but that hasn’t stopped us. We are leveraging this new online life and building on previous experience to keep going. Now, we are able to keep building our network no matter where we are located, or indeed where we are locked down. It’s been a very inspiring time connecting with so many new businesses and business owners and actually providing such wonderful service during this challenging time. So much has been cancelled and postponed but the joy of the online world and the adaptable spirit of the armed forces community has meant that we are able to carry on when others have stopped. It’s unexpectedly been a very positive three months of lockdown and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have taken part in the events and online networking recently – to the new ambassadors and all of the members in the network – you’re amazing and you inspire me every day. Right then, that’s the end of this little update. I hope that you are as excited as I am about series 4. If you haven’t subscribed to the podcast then do that now, and please do leave a review – that would make such a difference to me and it helps more lovely listeners like you find the series. Until next time keeps safe, keep your chin up and I shall be back, very soon with some inspiring stories from our network.

St John criticised for 'insensitive' Christchurch terror attack advert

Ambulance officers say an offensive ad urging people to donate to St John highlights years of under-funding, and are repeating calls for full funding from the Government.Hundreds of paramedics complained about the ad because it implied funding would go directly to Christchurch staff who treated people injured in the terror attacks. The ad has now been pulled.First Union's national ambulance co-ordinator Sarah Stone told Kate Hawkesby police and fire crews don't have to fundraise like St John does."It's very difficult to run a service, the way they do run it, when you only get paid 73 per cent of what you need to run the services and this means that inevitably workers' wages are hit."She said St John didn't mean to cause offence but are "woefully underfunded"."St Johns' response was that they did it because people were asking how they could donate...after they had seen the fantastic work and first class service the workers provide.""Workers are struggling and the service is struggling to retain workers."However, Stone said a number of paramedics felt it was insensitive and that it implied the money would have gone directly to the frontline workers."Paramedics in Christchurch, those who attended the scene and who know colleagues, family and friends who were affected by the awful events, but also paramedics around the country feel for their colleagues and Christchurch and felt that, at the least, it was an extremely incentive thing to do.""I think there was also anger that the advert implied in some way that the money would go to those paramedics in Christchurch and that's not how the funding is structured."She said the money would go into the service but that there's "no way" it would have been allocated into staff wages. This incident highlights the issues St John has with underfunding, Stone said."What it means at the moment is that the service is actually facing a crisis in New Zealand. It's running under establishment which means that it often can't fill the ambulances it has and put them on the roads. So what we are finding is ambulances will be left at the stations because they don't have the staff to fill them."

The original run of Transformers comics comes to its end as Regeneration One #100 hit newsstands and comic shops last week. Listen in as yours truly completely fails to succinctly summarize this seized up slop of a story, as we lament missed opportunity and tell you how much we really, really didn't like this arc. Previews are out of the upcoming Windblade Mini-Series and we speculate on the art and story of the book. Plus, our staff on the other side of the ocean has been busy working hard, so be sure to check out Va'als interview with Windblade artist Sarah Stone while you listen for more insight into the creation of this upcoming book! After the comic talk, we transition into toys by speculating if the presence of Galvatron in June's solicits portends a new toy in the works. We talk about the super high-end Action Master Movie Prime and Ultimetal Megatron. More information is available on Masterpiece 21 Bumblebee during this episode, so reaction and speculation ahoy! We then turn to Botcon for their latest reveal of Ferak. We also discuss the goings on with this year's convention, craziness with Joecon and potential ripple effects with Botcon, competition on the convention circuit, and lament the total lack of buzz in the community for this upcoming show. Listener questions come next, where we actually say some stuff about third parties. We then wrap up with some Bragging Rights!
