David Waldman returns, only to depart again. But that does not mean he can't sit down and talk awhile! Vendors are filing out of the 2025 Middle East Global Scam Expo today. This year's ScamSpo headliners were an impressive list of world-class scum suckers, though some might assert that they lack the gravitas of past douche nuggets. If you are collecting plutocrat trading cards, now is the time to pick up a Dina Powell. It will take Donald K. Trump the weekend to pack all of his gift bags, but he might not yet be able to show off his big beautiful Emolument 747. Meh, Donald has 3-11 more years to top that swag. Trump can hardly wait to get home and let Don Jr. try out his new bone saw. Tulsi Gabbard canned intelligence officials that she caught acting too intelligently, while She-Wolf of the DOJ, Pam Bondi, shall add humiliation to her toolbox of torture. If they run out of ideas, the 17 Mexican cartel members Trump brought into the US are certain to have some innovative suggestions. Team Trump is getting pretty good at disappearing people. RFK Jr. doesn't remember those hundreds of scientists that were in his department a moment ago. The DHS misplaced who knows how many people. The FAA is pretty certain that fewer than 3000 air traffic controllers are MIA, but definitely more than one. The ICC's chief prosecutor isn't even certain that he's still there anymore. The Gop TLDR bill is having a tough time, because folks keep giving out spoilers to them.  Republicans think they have a way to get around the filibuster… so do the Democrats. SCOTUS obviously can't outright deny birthright citizenship, so obviously they will need to get craftier.

The Frick and Frack of facts and fun, David Waldman and Greg Dworkin close out the month with today's KITM. Hoo boy are the next 100 days going to be awful. The Trump Tariffs Tsunami has begun to reach landfall and will be lapping over our hairlines in only weeks. Tourists are staying away in droves. Americans don't support Donald K. Trump on the economy. They don't support him on a lot of things. In fact, Americans don't support Trump on so many levels, that if they had any other viable choice than Democrats to pick from, they'd have already fled to whomever that would be… even so, Trump is feeling pretty threatened. Like any wild animal, Trump has an instinctual defense ready: stupid lies. The more he's threatened, the more lies, and the more stupidity until Trump's pursuer gives up, or until Karoline Leavitt saves him. Karoline has her work cut out for her, as Trump would have dug all the way to ‘Gina in his ABC interview had Terry Moran only allowed him to. She-Wolf of the DOJ, Pam Bondi, will tell you that Donald personally saved the lives of one third of the United States population in only 100 days. I mean, what more can you ask? Trump says he “could” bring Abrego Garcia back from El Salvador, but doesn't feel like it. A Fortune 500 company fired their lawyer who helped an immigrant family. The Turner Diaries is the MAGA Constitution. El Salvador is in it for the money, crypto money, and by coincidence so is the Trump family.  Believe it or not, Trump has a trust problem in the courts. Trump's lawyers aren't helping by being assholes. LeBron James of lawyers, Steven Biskupic, will be defending the Judge arrested by Trump's FBI. Steven's LeBron James of a sister will be reporting.

Today on KITM, David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are back! Of course, you expected them to, but how often do things go as expected anymore? If you thought it was profitable lurking on Pete Hegseth's signal chats, just think of being on Don Jr. or MTG's alerts yesterday!  Democrats not on the friend lists are sternly authoring letters at this moment. Who'd guess that Donald K. Trump would use tariffs to reward his friends, when everyone just assumed that he was only using them to punish his enemies? Well, following Trump's victory/defeat, we can put that behind us, except that it hasn't changed and it's still coming…. The apocalypse has been only delayed, until DOGE can make a run on the banks as fun as a run on the stock market. Congress could take tariff authority back from Trump tomorrow, it's just that they've arranged for tomorrow to not arrive this year. As for today, you knew Republicans weren't going to stick around through recess debating their big horrible bill. (Including Jared Golden (Maine), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Henry Cuellar (Texas) and Ed Case (Hawaii). Golden Trump bust lapel pins are the new American Flag on Republican lapels as Trump directs Pam Bondi, She Wolf of the DOJ, to find capital offences with people who weaponized politics at him. Trump has an Article 2 which allows him to call for 2nd Amendment solutions on anyone. They were just putting Henrry Villatoro Santos blindfold on when they had to let him go. Elon Musk needs to buy his elections more discreetly.  Tulsi Gabbard declared her residency in Texas, then voted in Hawaii… Look a squirrel, on that grassy knoll!

David Waldman is not here today! But what is “here”, anyway? David recorded a brand-new show that went over by four minutes — that's hundreds of extra words! So, he is virtually here today… but what is “virtually”, anyhow? KITM is still OG podcasting, the way they did it back in the twenty teens, none of that funny new stuff, or the funny old stuff, or any of that funny stuff, just the real stuff! (which is often funny) The Trump White House is one step away from adding a laugh track to its ICE videos. DOGE has made Trump II exponentially more incompetent and horrific. Are they saving $8 million? $8 billion? $8 trillion? $8? Who knows? Because that isn't the point. The National Science Foundation fired probationary employees and threw in some permanent employees and at-will workers. If anyone had a problem, they could take it up with the board (who were fired) or tell reporters to make a FOIA request through staff (who were also fired). That doesn't sound like saving money, it sounds like eliminating witnesses. It sounds like burning everything down to hide the bodies.  Pam Bondi, She-Wolf of the DOJ, was schutzstaffelling the Eric Adams case the moment she got the job. When Trump picked the one Black woman in the National Labor Relations Board to fire, he might have been dimly aware that it would go to his Supreme Court. Whatever they decide won't be the end of it. Trump, Putin and the Saudis had a meeting to discuss the upcoming Kyiv Trump Tower and rare earth mines. In only 4 hours they were able to settle on their McDonald's order and sell out the future of 40 million people.

Her ingenious scheme to beat the charges? To kidnap again. (Kidnapping, Babies, and Blackmail) *** Before we knew it as tuberculosis, most knew it as consumption – and it was almost always fatal, with those who had it seemingly being consumed by the disease, which is probably how it got its name. So it should be no surprise that homes where the disease took up residence were devastated, and whether or not they are haunted by the paranormal, they are certainly haunted by the dark memories and energies of those who were consumed there. Including one particular home a doctor in 1915 will describe for us. (Consumption Cottage) *** Norfolk's Horning Village is not your typical residential area of living – the village slips back and forth in time every five years. And one family knows that's true, because they were stuck in one of the time slips. (Timeslip Village) *** When fans of the paranormal hear the name ‘Rendlesham', the first thing that springs to mind is an incident that happened over three nights around Christmas 1980, when it was said that several spaceships visited the nearby airbase. What they don't think of is Ariel the mermaid, or Daryl Hannah from the movie “Splash”. But maybe they should. (The Mermaid of Rendlesham) *** Isabella of France is a fantastically interesting historic figure, even more so because of how little-known she is. You'd think a queen who was known as a she-wolf would be something you might have read about in history class. (Isabella: She-Wolf of England) *** But first, the figure, who is known as 'Le Loyon' has been called Switzerland's answer to the Loch Ness Monster, wears a military uniform and a thick cloak, with a gas mask covering his or her face. Who or what is he? We begin with that story. Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), Revenge of the Creature (1955), The Creature Walks Among Us (1956). And now, we come to the end of our Universal Monster episodes, having made our way through all the Dracula, Frankenstein, Invisible Man, Mummy, and the Wolf Man films, we now take a dive into the Black Lagoon! Coming out a little less than a decade after the last Universal Monster film (no, I'm not counting A&C Meet Frankenstein), it gave birth to a whole new generation of monster fans that might not have been around for the first cycle. And it did make quite the splash amongst fans, enough to permanently give its spot in the Universal Monster class. And there is a reason for that. Join us while we take a deep dive into these films, maybe pushing you into the deep end of some of them, discussing some things you maybe didn't know about them, and hopefully, if we're doing our jobs, make you revisit them and think about them a little differently, or at least a little more. That's the beauty of films, that no matter how many times you may have seen it, you never know what the next viewing experience will bring you. Films mentioned in this episode: Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), The Creature Walks Among Us (1956), Curse of the Werewolf (1961), The Deadly Mantis (1957), Demon of Paradise (1987), Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982), The Giant Claw (1957), House of Dracula (1945), House of Frankenstein (1944), Humanoids from the Deep (1980), The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957), It Came from Outer Space (1953), Jaws 3-D (1983), King Kong (1933), Mad Monster Party? How to be a 'healer' as a sensitive soul who 'absorbs others' energy' - without burning out?

On the Secret Witch Show today, Nicole is speaking to one of the common fears that comes up for aspiring healers: the deep fears of ‘absorbing other's energy' and ‘burning out' that often stop women from fully stepping into the journey of becoming a healer - thinking that they're ‘too sensitive' for it.     In this episode Nicole discusses how women born to be ‘healers' are born with a deep natural sensitivity, and what this really means for them, exploring the birth constitution (or make up) of a ‘healer'.  She explores a way of working with reclaiming the deep self-honouring that's required - and the capacity to hold inner boundaries - in order to reclaim our gifts without burning out and taking on others' energy.  She also explores the one deeper underlying fear that often stops us fully self-honouring and protecting our energy. What You'll Learn from this Episode:   ‘Sensitivity' is one of the things that most aspiring healers - who are constitutionally ‘Archetypal Phosphorus' - shame about themselves, and fear will stop them becoming healers - yet it also holds a deep gift; without sensitivity, we wouldn't *be* healers To begin healing this ‘Surface Layer' wound of sensitive, ‘Phosphoric' women - and to stop absorbing energy and burning out - we need to work with the Archetypal Remedy, ‘She-Wolf' (or Lupa); and especially the Motherly energy of the milk of the She-Wolf, which is about reclaiming our inner wildness and honouring our inner-boundaries (in a nurturing way, from love) We will often fear our ‘inner wild' will be rejected as ‘too much', ‘too wild', or be ‘disapproved of' or ‘judged', and so we - as sensitive women - often deny our *true* needs and burn ourselves into the ground; and it's at that point where other people's energy will feel too much Other people are only ever acting as mirrors for aspects of ourselves that want reclaiming; if we learn to receive ‘triggers' from others ‘taking our energy' as a call to honour our true needs as sensitive women, we can, too, heal and open to reclaiming our gifts as healers Outer-boundaries are often set 'first, and then we get upset when they are ‘dishonoured' by others - yet, the really deep work is to learn to ‘honour' our own ‘inner boundaries' for ourselves' the world shifts as we do, energetically The work is to begin to hear our wild ‘inner No', so that we can then begin to open to our true deep ‘Yes' to the desire and vision of becoming the healer we were born to be; otherwise, we *will* end up burning out, pleasing everyone and taking on everything from everyone else. Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943), House of Frankenstein (1944), and House of Dracula (1945). Some say that the monster rally films marked the end of the Universal creature features, which could partially be true, but we feel it is for different reasons than the actual films themselves, and they still have a lot of merit to them. While the studio heads might not of cared too much about getting them made, those invovled did their best with what they had. One of the biggest highlights of these titles is the cast of actors in them, some making their last appearances. You get to see Karloff, Chaney Jr., Carradine, J. Carrol Naish, George Zucco, Lionel Atwill, Dwight Frye, and so many other regular faces that will bring a smile to your face when they pop up onscreen. While maybe running a little thin on ideas and decided to start combining monsters to hopefully bring back bigger box office returns, they still made films that we all still feel are entertaining and we feel are more than worth your time. Movies mentioned in this episode: Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948), Billy the Kid vs Dracula (1966), The Body Snatcher (1945), Dracula (1931), Frankenstein (1931), Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1942), Freddy vs Jason (2003), Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), House of Dracula (1945), House of Frankenstein (1944), The Invisible Man (1933), The Invisible Man Returns (1940), Man Made Monster (1941), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), The Mummy's Hand (1940), Nocturna (1979), Of Mice and Men (1939), She-Wolf of London (1946), Son of Dracula (1943), Son of Frankenstein (1939), Son of Kong (1933), The Wolf Man (1941)

Isabella of France (c. 1295 – 22 August 1358), sometimes described as the She-Wolf of France (French: Louve de France), was Queen of England as the wife of King Edward II, and de facto regent of England from 1327 until 1330. She was the youngest surviving child and only surviving daughter of Philip IV of France and Joan I of Navarre. Isabella was notable in her lifetime for her diplomatic skills, intelligence, and beauty. She overthrew her husband, becoming a "femme fatale" figure in plays and literature over the years, usually portrayed as a beautiful but cruel and manipulative figure.

SEASON 2 EPISODE 88: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Jack Smith dares our corrupt Supreme Court to answer the decisive question right here, right now: If Dementia J. Trump is right and he didn't just make up this "Presidential Immunity" bullshit out of whole cloth, why did Ford pardon Nixon? Why did Nixon negotiate a pardon with Ford before he resigned? Why did Trump say just three months ago he was advised to pardon himself, and that if elected again he would consider a self-pardon?  Smith's bold move to get the Supreme Court to decide this ultimate question will, if nothing else, cut Trump's endless stalls off at the pass. But with Samuel Alito just yesterday issuing a dissent in another case that might as well have been pulled off one of Trump's insane ALL CAPS SOCIAL MEDIA WORDGASMS, might Alito lead SCOTUS into a disaster just horrific enough to destroy itself and the nation by siding with Trump's ahistorical, unconstitutional crap? ALSO: On Day One of their trial, Giuliani's lawyer assures us he knows he did wrong and shouldn't be punished for slandering the two Georgia poll workers. Then Rudy goes out and slanders them again. Trump's mental deterioration is so obvious it was noticed even by Megyn Kelly (who looks like she could star in a re-make of "Ilsa, She-Wolf of the SS"). And his "dictator" remarks are so obviously dangerous that even Peter Baker and The New York Times noticed - and the Trump campaign is trying to get him to ix-nay the ictatorship-day. B-Block (20:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Their political grandfathers wanted to appease Hitler and give him England and the Jews. Today's GOP is meeting with representatives of Hungarian strongman Orban to try to appease Putin and give him Ukraine and NATO. (24:37) IN SPORTS: Shohei Ohtani is both selfless and selfish. He will defer $68 million a year of his $70 million salary, giving his new Dodger employers a huge break in the baseball "luxury tax" - and himself on the real California state tax. And what happened to that Ohtani-To-Toronto story? My bet, from having seen it occur to another brilliant sports reporter, is that Jon Paul Morosi didn't screw up; his source did - or lied to him. I'll tell you the Jim Lampley/Larry Brown story. And I'll SING ABOUT MOROSI AND OHTANI. (34:31) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Vivek Ramaswamy's most cogent statement ever: leaves the mike on during a bathroom break. Climate deniers will get to watch another previously unconsidered disaster unfold. And Nancy Mace and her fiancé broke up? A class dame like her what talks about morning sex at a prayer breakfast? c-Block (39:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: You are welcome to skip this, but I found a cassette over the weekend. It is a bunch of sportscasts recorded the week of my 18th birthday. The voice is high, the predictions are startlingly good. As are the cameos.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Werewolf of London (1935), The Wolf Man (1941), and She-Wolf of London (1946) When the night falls and the full moon rises, it is time to talk about werewolves. Not just any werewolves, but the ones that came from Universal Studios. While still riding the wave of their  successes with the horror titles of Dracula, Frankenstein, The Mummy, and The Invisible Man, Universal's front office continued to look for their next big monster, which spawned The Werewolf of London (1935). While it wasn't the success they'd hoped, they would try it again in 1941 on the second wave of monster films, which was a big hit. And like the curse of lycanthropy, things weren't always particualrly good with this particular sub-genre. We cover the three official titles from Universal that have the werewolf (one in title alone!) by themselves, and not any of the monster-rallys that we'll cover in the future. Will they still hold up to modern audiences? Are they worthy of their "classic monster" title? Listen and find out. He is super talented and has written TV shows, books based on shows, Films, and including a book series with Janet Evanovich! he put himself through UCLA as a freelance journalist, writing for such publications as American Film, Starlog, Newsweek, The Los Angeles Times Syndicate, The Washington Post and The San Francisco Chronicle (He also wrote erotic letters to the editor for Playgirl at $25-a-letter, but he doesn't tell people about that, he just likes to boast about those "tiffany" credits). He published his first book ".357 Vigilante" (as "Ian Ludlow," so he'd be on the shelf next to Robert Ludlum) while he was still a UCLA student. The West Coast Review of Books called his debut "as stunning as the report of a .357 Magnum, a dynamic premiere effort," singling the book out as "The Best New Paperback Series" of the year. Naturally, the publisher promptly went bankrupt and he never saw a dime in royalties. (But the books are available on the Kindle as "The Jury Series") Welcome to publishing, Lee. His subsequent books include the non-fiction books "Successful Television Writing" and "Unsold Television Pilots" ("The Best Bathroom Reading Ever!" San Francisco Chronicle) as well as the novels "My Gun Has Bullets" ("It will make you cackle like a sitcom laugh track," Entertainment Weekly), "Dead Space" ("Outrageously entertaining," Kirkus Reviews), "Watch Me Die" ("as dark and twisted as anything Hammet or Chandler ever dreamed up," Kirkus Reviews).Goldberg broke into television with a freelance script sale to "Spenser: For Hire." Since then, his TV writing & producing credits have covered a wide variety of genres, including sci-fi (SeaQuest), cop shows (Hunter, The Glades), martial arts (Martial Law), whodunits (Diagnosis Murder, Nero Wolfe), the occult (She-Wolf of London), kid's shows (R.L. Stine's The Nightmare Room), T&A (Baywatch), comedy (Monk) and utter crap (The Highwayman). His TV work has earned him two Edgar Award nominations from the Mystery Writers of America. His two careers, novelist and TV writer, merged when he began writing the "Diagnosis Murder" series of original novels, based on the hit CBS TV mystery that he also wrote and produced, and later wrote the 15 bestselling novels based on "Monk," another show that he worked on. He is co-creator of the hit Hallmark movie series "Mystery 101." He also he teamed up with Janet Evanovich to write the #1 New York Times bestselling Fox & O'Hare novels ("The Heist," "The Chase," "The Job," "The Scam," "The Pursuit"). His most recent books include the thriller "True Fiction" and the police procedural "Lost Hills." But perhaps he's best known for his pioneering work mapping the human genome and negotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement. Goldberg lives in Los Angeles with his wife and his daughter and still sleeps in "Man From UNCLE" pajamas. His latest book is Malibu Burning! Its soo good! leegoldberg.com

Jer is from the east side, and Devon from the west side. They meet near the middle to discuss what to know and where to go in Metro Detroit. We lose power near the end of the show, but keep on plugging forward.  Where we've been: 01:40 - Jer Beat Drake to SheWolf in Detroit's Midtown by a few hours. Worth it? 06:08 - Devon went to the new Mezcal location in Midtown and has a full review. We also get into how just one block, or around a corner, can make all the difference in Detroit and whether or not the location works.  10:57 - A couple of pieces of harder news, as Rock Central and Rocket Mortgage are offering voluntary buyouts to a lot of employees.  13:56 - Do we really need to be building hundreds of thousands of more office spaces when it's clear the demand isn't there? 15:05 - Meanwhile UWM leader Mat Ishbia is building himself the largest occupied house in the state complete with an enchanted forest. https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/oakland/2023/07/18/phoenix-suns-mat-ishbia-bloomfield-township-michigan/70410992007/ 17:28 - The Book Tower is getting five new restaurant concepts, from French to Japanese. We walk through them. Will the Book Tower be a must-go-to destination in the region for food and hospitality? 21:43 - The well-liked Avenue American Bistro in Wayne is opening up a second location at the Dearborn Hills Golf Club. No, you don't need to be a member to go. Jer gets schooled about the west side. 24:48 - The Firebird Tavern in Greektown is setting up a second location in Troy. To Devon, Big Beaver Road is "up north." 25:52 - Saffron DeTwa's Chef Omar Anani won a round on Chopped! Go watch it on Food Network. Is Shakira in total "Cruise" control? After he met her at a Formula 1 race in Miami last Sunday, rumors are flying that Tom Cruise has fallen for the “She Wolf” singer. Sources say he's “extremely interested” in her, but she's just laughing it off! And it looks like Shakira might have eyes for a real race car driver instead…British hottie Lewis Hamilton. Obviously while her hips don't lie, rumors sometimes do. But we'll be breaking it all down with a very special guest. Shakira is back on the Billboard Hot 100 – thanks to the help of Argentinian producer Bizarrap. Together, their song “Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” is layered with musical and lyrical references, from the callbacks to “She Wolf” to the multiple beat switches. It also works to play into something larger: something akin to a pop music conspiracy. On this episode of Switched On Pop, we take a closer look at Shakira's latest, and how it's indicative of a larger metatextual shift in pop music.  Songs Discussed: Shakira, Bizarrap – Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53 Shakira – Vuelve Alanis Morrisette – Not The Doctor Shakira – Whenever, Wherever Shakira, Alejandro Sanz – La Tortura Shakira, Wyclef Jean – Hips Don't Lie Shakira – She Wolf The Weeknd – Blinding Lights Giorgio Moroder – Palm Springs Drive LMFAO – Party Rock Anthem Pascal Letoublon – Friendships Beyoncé – Sorry Taylor Swift – All Too Well Olivia Rodrigo – Driver's License Learn more about your ad choices. Hell hath no fury like Shakira, Shakira! In June of last year, the “She Wolf” singer split from her longtime partner, footballer Gerard Piqué, after she found out he'd been having an affair. Apparently Shakira discovered Gerard was sneaking around after realizing that - while she was away - someone was eating her favorite strawberry jam. Now Gerard is toast, and Shakira has channeled all her breakup rage into a new diss track directed at her ex and his new girlfriend. And she has been blasting that song from her Barcelona home for all her neighbors to hear. Yeah, Shakira's clearly in her feelings. But are we seeing a breakup breakdown, or an empowering Shakira shakeup?See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

I am extremely excited to have on the show today a fellow podcaster, established producer, director, and writer, Mick Garris. Mick's podcast, Post Mortem with Mick Garris, dives deep into the devious minds of the greatest filmmakers and creators of your worst nightmares to bring their distinctive visions to life in fascinating one-on-one conversations. He's renowned for his classic screen adaptation of Stephen King's books like Sleepwalkers (1992), The Shinning and The Stand. and creator of 2005, Masters of Horror series. The California native began his passion for storytelling as early as 12 years old - writing short stories. He launched his passion onto the journalism path at just 16 years old. Driven by curiosity, he freelanced as a film and music critic and landed interviews with the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Rod Serling, and Ray Bradbury in the 70s. It's remarkable what Mick accomplished in a time where everyone needed to know someone to get a foot in the door, let alone that early in life and without the help of social media. I guess folks were intrigued by his talent and drive. While doing film criticism, Mick wrote specs, publications for magazines, and did some filming on 8mm. The guy lived the dream. The hard work began to pay off. His agent, Rick Jaffa read some of his specs, believed in him, and introduced Mick to Steven Spielberg. Mick ended up writing the first episode of the Spielberg sci-fi series, Amazing Stories, and seven other episodes. He's credited for writing screenplays like Psycho IV: The Beginning, Fly II, and the She-Wolf of London series. He was also was an editor on Spielberg's other project, *Batteries Not Included, in which aliens help a feisty old New York couple in their battle against the ruthless land developer who's out to evict them.Garris has written and directed a lot of other horror classics such as Halloween comedy favorite, Hocus Pocus. The film follows a villainous comedic trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts, on Halloween night.Garris and I talked about his incredibly difficult yet fun experience shooting his small budget directorial debut, feature sequel Critters 2. In the film, Eggs of the small but voracious alien creatures called Crites are left behind on earth and, after hatching, set their appetites on the small farm town of Grover's Bend. The man's contribution to the horror genre has amazing. Can't wait for you to catch up on my conversation with Mick Garris.
