Patreon supporter Justin's last pick was Bottle Rocket from the 90's and this time we're going 3 decades back to 1963 with The Courtship of Eddie's Father. The Courtship of Eddie's Father, directed by Vincente Minnelli, was a noteworthy project within the family-comedy genre, combining elements of drama and humor to tell a heartfelt story. Based on the novel by Mark Toby, the film starred Glenn Ford as Tom Corbett, a widower struggling to raise his young son Eddie, played by Ronny Howard. The casting of Ronny Howard, already known for his role on "The Andy Griffith Show," brought a natural and endearing quality to the film. The chemistry between Ford and Howard was central to the film's success, as their believable father-son relationship drove the emotional core of the story. Filming took place in various locations around Los Angeles, which provided an authentic backdrop for the characters' lives. Minnelli's direction emphasized the subtleties of familial bonds and the complexities of single parenthood. The production also benefited from a strong supporting cast, including Shirley Jones and Stella Stevens, who played potential love interests for Ford's character. The film's balance of lighthearted moments with more serious themes of loss and moving on resonated with audiences, making it a box office success. As Tom navigates single parenthood, Eddie takes it upon himself to find a new wife for his father, leading to a series of humorous and heartfelt encounters with potential candidates. Justin, Ryan and Bec begin to unpack the 1962 Paramount rom-com "Girls! Girls! Girls!" starring Elvis, Laurel Goodwin, Stella Stevens, and Jeremy Slate, directed by Norman Taurog (his third Elvis picture) and written by Edward Anhalt from a story by Allan Weiss.  It was filmed in Hawaii, but that's not where it was supposed to be set - and the last minute change (following the blowout success of "Blue Hawaii" at the box office just a few short months before filming) is clearly felt throughout. The crew take a look back to see how the movie holds up - an unusually strong soundtrack helps, but not everyone even agrees on that! Before that though, Justin subjects Ryan & Bec to a "Guess That Soundalike" challenge, whereby they'll have to guess which of 6 Elvis soundalikes is which based on short audio snippets. It's a ton of fun! Part 2 will be out next week; it's available in early access for TCBCast patrons! If you enjoy TCBCast, please consider supporting us with a donation at Patreon.com/TCBCast. "La vita è terribile. Non è divertente da guardare?" Il momento è giunto. Stavolta è il turno di un maestro del cinema, rivoluzionario quanto controverso. Perciò preparatevi ad addentrarvi nell'oscuro e imprevedibile cinema di David Samuel Peckinpah. Meglio noto come Sam Peckinpah. "Wait for me, sunrise Bring me some new skies Gonna stop all my wandering When I see what tomorrow will bring" Dopo "Il Mucchio Selvaggio", molti si aspettavano un nuovo film di Peckinpah altrettanto sanguinario. "Tomorrow will be the song you sing Yesterday won't mean a thing Make today your next days dawn And you're still be here grinning when today's all done" Potete trovare "La Ballata di Cable Hogue" qui: https://amzn.to/42eea4J https://amzn.to/42kagH6 Link per iscriversi ai servizi di Amazon: http://www.amazon.it/amazonprime?tag=pendente90-21 https://www.amazon.it/music/unlimited?tag=pendente90-21 https://www.primevideo.com/offers/ref=atv_nb_lcl_it_IT?tag=pendente90-21 https://www.amazon.it/kindle-dbs/hz/signup?tag=pendente90-21 http://www.amazon.it/joinstudent?tag=pendente90-21 https://www.primevideo.com/offers/nonprimehomepage/ref=atv_nb_lcl_it_IT?_encoding=UTF8&tag=exampleAssociateStoreID-21?tag=pendente90-21 https://www.amazon.it/tbyb/huc?pf=1&tag=AssociateTrackingID?tag=pendente90-21

On this week's episode of Fabulous Film & Friends, the regular crew is all back to dissect and probe the often-misunderstood genius of Jerry Lewis with his seminal 1963 masterwork, The Nutty Professor, which he co-wrote, directed and starred in alongside a very easy on the eyes,  Stella Stevens. Back once again for their invaluable insights on the matter are instructors and intellects in their own right:  Roseanne Caputi, David Johnson DMD, and of course, funnyman GORDON ALEX ROBERTSON!Before we explore the finer points: a synopsis! The Nutty Professor slays us with the antics of the good-natured, introverted and superficially unattractive Professor Julius F. Kelp, who, in order to win the affections of his star pupil, Ms. Stella Purdy, concocts a potion that transforms him from a hunched over and bucked-tooth nerd, verging on the grotesque, into a handsome, unrelentingly self-confident, chain-smokin' 60's swingin' ladies' man named Buddy Love.  Kelp and Buddy contend with their Jekyll and Hyde like tumultuous co-existence until they can no longer control it and finally at the big dance, Kelp, the university faculty and student body are face-to-face with the undeniable truth.  What is the meaning of it all? Find out!

Book Vs Movie: “The Poseidon Adventure” (1971) The differences between the super gross book and the really fun movie (We are not going to hide our bias here!) At Book Vs Movie, whenever people say “Duh--the book is always better than the movie!” the Margos would say “yeah--have you ever read Jaws?” Well, now we have another book to movie adaptation that features a horrible, racist, sexist, homophobic, and misogynistic novel that became a fun hit film.  Sportswriter Paul Gallico helped many stories become excellent films including Pride of the Yankees, The Snow Goose, and the stage musical Carnival! He wrote over 40 books, numerous short stories, and dozens of TV and movie scripts.  He began his career working for the sports desk at the New York Daily News and later became a prolific travel writer spending 10,000 miles on the road in the U.S. for Reader’s Digest.  In 1969, he published The Poseiden Adventure to little fanfare. The tale of a wayward ship that is sunk while traveling to Africa features some of the most loathsome characters we ever had the displeasure of reading. (The audiobook featuring narration by actor Dylan Baker makes it slightly more palatable.) Trigger warning: This story features a character being raped who then comforts her attacker and then wishes she was pregnant by him. (Seriously!) The movie by producer Irwin Allen and director Ronald Neame became an instant classic which began a slate of many disaster films in the 1970s. It would become the highest-grossing film of 1973 grossing over $125 million worldwide. It won an Academy Award for best special effects and for the best original song “The Morning After.”    Our lead actor is Gene Hackman as Reverand Frank Scott who is a renegade preacher who turns into a hero for the passengers of the S.S. Poseidon (partly filmed on the RMS Queen Mary.) at the time, he was a hot property after the success of The French Connection and his performance is very passionate.  Co-star Shelley Winters won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Belle Rosen--a middle-aged swimmer who gives her life to protect the survivors. (Spoiler!) Have a listen to find out our real feelings between book & movie as this one will go down as one of our biggest takedowns of a horrible piece of work.  In this ep the Margos discuss: The writing career of Paul Gallico How truly terrible this book is and why you should not read it.  The special effects of the film and how it changed disaster films of the future The cast: Gene Hackman (Reverand Frank Scott,) Ernest Borgnine (Mike Rogo,) Red Buttons (James Martin,) Carol Lynley (Nonnie Parry,) Roddy McDowell (Acres,) Stella Stevens (Linda Rogo,) Shelley Winters (Belle Rosen,) Jack Albertson (Manny Rosen,) Pamela Sue Martin (Susan Shelby,) Eric Shea (Robin Shelby,) and Leslie Nielsen (Captain Harrison)  Clips used: The Poseidon Adventure  trailer  A tidal wave hits the shit The immediate aftermath of the ship turning over Stella Stevens “panties” scene “Lindaaaaaaaaaa!!!” Reverend Scott sacrifices himself for the good of the group The group is rescued  Closing music “The Morning After” written by Al Kasha & Joel Hirschorn and sung by Maureen McGovern Join our Patreon page to help support the show! https://www.patreon.com/bookversusmovie  Book Vs. For 25 years Greg has been behind a mic or in front of a camera from Alberta to Saskatchewan, Ontario to BC. In the mid 90’s, when record company money was flowing like beer from a frat party keg and sponsorship dollars for Country music were at an all-time high, he co-created, co-wrote and hosted the nationally syndicated radio show Craven A Today’s Country. The show featured the biggest acts of the day including; Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Alabama, the Dixie Chicks and many Grammy nominated songwriters. In addition to scoring several New York Festival International Awards for the show, his wife Teresa and Greg started a family in a humble downtown Toronto condo. The next stop was CMT, where a renegade team of TV virgins produced and hosted the CMT Request Line, a daily national video request show. That amazing opportunity lasted a scant two seasons and then, in the fear-filled year of Y2K, his growing family packed the banana-tired U-Haul for yet another glamorous Canadian relocation. A few provinces and morning shows later, Greg joined CFCW sister station KG Country 95.5 in Red Deer, where his co-host and Greg were lucky enough to win Morning Show of the Year from the Canadian Country Music Association five times in a row! In June of 2014 Greg retired from day to day radio and joined the Community Relations Department of Red Deer College, but he’s very excited to come back into this crazy business and join Alberta’s Country Legend as morning show co-host with Stella Stevens!

At that time, her mother married a U.S. citizen and they moved to Texas.Natividad attended high school in El Paso, where she was her senior class president. After moving to California, she worked as a maid and cook for Stella Stevens and as a key-punch operator for IBM before turning to go-go dancing to make ends meet. Kitten Natividad was introduced to Russ Meyer by fellow dancer Shari Eubank, a performer in Meyer's 1975 film Supervixens.Meyer hired her to narrate his movie Up!, where she was shown sitting nude in a tree, quoting the poetry of Hilda Doolittle and acting as a Greek chorus to the nonsensical action.[5] Meyer was so impressed he wanted her to star in his next feature, Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens, one of several collaborations between Meyer and film critic Roger Ebert.and voice lessons to eliminate her accent. Kitten and Russ Meyer lived together as a couple for most of the next 15 years. After this, Natividad moved into ographic modeling, mainly doing glamour or girl-girl shoots with the likes of Candy Samples, Uschi Digard, and Patty Plenty.[3] The appearances increased her dancing income many times over. She incorporated a giant champagne glass into her act (similar to Lili St. Cyr[1]), accompanied by the Bobby Darin hit "Splish Splash."[3] She appeared as a guest on The Dating Game, one of a number of game shows that Chuck Barris produced. During the 1980s, Natividad began appearing in ographic productions, initially limiting her performances to appearing topless. Eventually, however, she graduated to engaging in hardcore performances, usually with younger men and women. She also founded the private photo and video studio Kitten Klub. She famously appeared as a stripper at the bachelor party held by Sean Penn to celebrate his 1985 marriage to Madonna.

Plus this week's co-host Yoko also works in some of her favorite soundtrack picks as well. And as we try to figure out if it's legal in this state to make love to the camera, we also discuss... Eileen Ford, a class at Warner Brothers, cats sitting on your turntable, being introduced to Elvis Presley, lectures on swearing, I was just standing in my brassiere, choosing one girl from every high school, Stella Stevens, I won a contest, the art director for Capitol Records, brighten up your day with this band, a Bull Terrier, sometimes you've gotta squint on a roller coaster, I love his little quiff and his big chin, a lovable curmudgeon, Jerry Moss, predestined, a little bit of a heartbreak, skiing down a mountain, men like cats sometimes, The Everly Brothers, try not to fall in love when you hear this song, constructing the cotton, Steve Katz, being an art teacher, it seemed like in L.A., everyone had their businesses in their garages... they always made-over their garages... including Herb, I definitely learned rejection, It was just a lovely afternoon, a catamaran in a storm, very avant-garde records, being groomed, quit picking on Bill, he's such a sentimental person and for years... no one knew my name.  "It's unusual.
