Welcome to The Underdog Podcast where we talk about how to get more customers, impact clients at the highest level, and build great products that change the world. Daniel Francis shares his journey on the best up to date strategies to build great profitable coaching businesses. Get ready to learn & be inspired. In this Podcast, I'm walking you through my wild ride of naming my coaching program. Started off kinda funny – called my Facebook group "Stuttering Genius". My coach was like, "What the heck, man?" and told me to name it something that shows what my clients want to achieve. That's how "Overcoming Stuttering Community" was born. But then, guess what? The name "Master Your Stutter" won a poll in my Facebook group! That was it! This name had a ring to it, you know? And from there, "Master Your Stutter" became my brand. Here's a cool thing: I dig deeper into what “mastery” really means to me. It's about nailing the basics. That's what I live by. Now, let's talk about MASTERY – the acronym that's the heartbeat of my philosophy: Mindset - Guys, it's all about a strong headspace. Action - Doing stuff, not just dreaming. Strategy - You gotta have a game plan. Transformation - It's like going to the gym but for your life. Empathy - Gotta feel for your clients, right? Resilience - Life's gonna throw punches. Learn to take 'em. Yield - In the end, it's all about the results. That's what counts. I really lay it all out in this video, showing how each part of MASTERY is super important. And hey, I'm curious – do you have a cool acronym for your business? Drop it in the comments and let's chat about it. Podcast Talent Coach

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 23, 2023 49:29

THE TOP SIX EPISODES OF 2023 It has been an amazing year at Podcast Talent Coach. On this episode, I want to share with you the best of 2023. These are the top six most downloaded episodes of 2023. DECREASED DOWNLOADS Have you seen a decrease in your downloads in the fourth quarter of 2023? It is probably due to a change with Apple Podcasts. Apple released iOS 17 in September of 2023. That update came with a change to Apple Podcasts and how episodes are downloaded. According to Apple, automatic downloads are paused when a device is out of available storage or when a listener hasn't played a show they follow. If a listener hasn't played one of the latest five episodes for more than 15 days, downloads are paused. Apple says pausing downloads is to preserve device storage. This change is communicated to listeners with a pause indicator on the follow icon located at the top right of the show page. If a listener resumes playing that show, or changes the download preferences for that show, Apple Podcasts will resume automatically downloading episodes. The big difference for your podcast is how previously unplayed episodes are handled with the listener resumes playing the show. Before iOS 17, when a listener would unpause automatic downloads, the system would automatically download all unplayed episodes. Your podcast would then get credited with those downloads. With iOS 17, Apple Podcasts will not download previous episodes and will only resume automatically downloading new episodes. BRING THEM BACK This change is why is it so critical to keep listeners coming back week after week, episode after episode. It isn't enough to simply get people to subscribe to your show. You need to get them to actually listen consistently. At the end of each episode, creatively tease your next episode. Create some intrigue and anticipation for the next show. Bring them back. When you publish your new episode, tell your tribe about it. Share it on social media. Send an e-mail to your list and invite them to listen. It is important that you tease here as well and not simply promote. Promoting next week is info only. When I say, "Next week we'll talk with Dan Miller", that's promoting. It does very little to create any anticipation for the episode. To creatively tease the episode, I need to create some intrigue. I might say, "Next week, Dan Miller joins us and will show you how to build a business with no money required." A powerful tease opens the loop and gives listeners something to get excited about. However, it shouldn't be something you can Google. I don't want to say, "Dan Miller will share his 48 Low- or No-Cost Business Ideas next week." You can Google "48 Low- or No-Cost Business Ideas" and find Dan's resource. There is no reason to come back to the episode to get the answers. No need to wait. You can go get them now. Tease effectively. SUBSCRIBE My downloads took a dip in fourth quarter like everyone else. It would really help if you would subscribe or follow this podcast right now. Grab your phone. Let's do this right now. On many podcast platforms, simply open the episode. Click that follow or subscribe button on the page. Even if you think you are already subscribed, please grab your phone and check. It would be a tremendous help to me. This week, get out and share your podcast with your tribe. Let's get those downloads coming back. Now, the top six episodes of Podcast Talent Coach in 2023. #6 BEST OF 2023 Number six is Creating a Custom Intro – PTC 433. The introduction of your podcast is probably the most critical part of your show. A custom intro takes it to a whole new level. A typical listener will give you between 90 seconds and a few minutes to entice them to stick around. Don't blow it. You can't catch up to a slow start. When you create your intro, tell your listener how they will be better after listening to an episode. Your listener is asking, "What's in it for me?" A custom intro adds show biz. It is unique to your show. And, it can be very affordable. The opening of your show will have 2 or 3 parts. You can use a highlight clip from the show, which is optional. It will be followed by the voiceover introduction of the podcast. Finally, you will give the introduction to this particular episode.   BEST OF EPISODE 433 On this episode, I want to show you how you can get your own custom theme music and voiceover without breaking the bank. Rick Stewart helps podcasters create their custom intro that is unlike any other podcast. Rick Stewart founded his own Jingle Company right out of college. He eventually moved to Nashville and spent years singing backup on recordings for Country Music Icons and Christian Artists. Rick has partnered with his son T.J. to create custom themes and voiceovers for podcasters. T.J. is a multi-instument musician and music producer. His writing and producing skills are amazing. Rick combines his skills in writing and producing jingles, and years of professional voiceovers, with T.J.'s mastery of writing, performing and producing music to create amazing custom intros and themes for your show. You will discover why you need a powerful intro, why a custom intro is so important and how to get started. Give it a listen at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/episode433. #5 BEST OF 2023 The number five episode of 2023 is 6 Steps To Profitable Podcasting – PTC 429. It sounds so easy. So, why is it so difficult to create a profitable podcast? The gurus make more money by making it sound quick and easy for you. The truth is... It is easy to understand. However, the implementation becomes difficult when you are trying to do it yourself without a step-by-step system. YOUR PROFITABLE SYSTEM On this episode, I am going to give you the 6 steps to build a profitable podcast. Just keep in mind that it will take diligent, consistent effort to reach your goals. These 6 steps will sound easy. You will find yourself saying, "Everybody knows that, Erik. This doesn't sound like magic." That's because it isn't magic. It is a system. Stop throwing things against the wall to see what sticks. Instead, Focus. Follow one course until successful. At the end of this episode, I will invite you join me in a program that will walk you through this entire system to create your profitable podcast.   BEST OF EPISODE 429 You can get all six steps to profitable podcasting on this podcast. We also talk about the Podcast Profits Accelerator. In this program, you will... Grow your audience, increase your downloads and add subscribers to your podcast Increase your impact and influence in your niche to monetize your show Build a strategy that will attract your ideal clients on a consistent basis If you want real help building and implementing this podcast profit framework, you really need to be in the Podcast Profits Accelerator. You can get enrollment details at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/accelerator. Give it a listen at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/episode429. #4 BEST OF 2023 The fourth most downloaded episode of 2023 is The Magic Of Rapport – PTC 425. So many podcasters struggle to make money with their podcast. It is the primary challenge when coaches come to me for help. The thing they are missing is rapport. So, you want to make money with your podcast. Why? I know that sounds like a crazy question. Who doesn't want more money? Dig a little deeper. What is really driving your desire? What would more money do for your business, your family, your mission and your life? How could a successful strategy that helps you consistently make money with your show change your life? Let's look 5 years down the road. Imagine what you can accomplish in 60 months if you know where you're going and have a plan to follow. Can you see it? Can you see how your life is different? That's why you want to make money. It isn't the money. It's all about the transformation in your life that the money makes possible. One of my clients told me, "If we are able to generate leads, that is awesome. If we are helping change people's lives, and they are reaching out to us, that would be a success. Becoming a resource is the goal." Money makes the mission possible. What would that feel like if that transformation came to life 5 years from now? How great would it be to be clear on your actions and relieving all that stress? You know you have the expertise to change lives. Your success is just a matter of getting in front of your ideal clients. That is the power of an effective podcast strategy. I'm going to show you the four steps to make money with your podcast. If you are struggling, your strategy probably has a hole in one of these areas.   BEST OF EPISODE 423 Only 3% of your market is buying today. A fraction of your target market is actively looking to make a purchase right now. Another 7% could possibly be convinced they need it now. For 30% of your audience, the time isn't right. The next 30% don't believe they need it based on the info the currently have. They need more education. Your final 30% may never buy. They may be a user of different brand or have different needs. If you are spending all of your time closing, you are missing 97% of your target market. Even you convince that 7% that could be sold, 90% of your audience isn't looking to buy right now. You are missing a huge opportunity. We talk about an effective approach on this episode. Give it a listen at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/episode423. #2 BEST OF 2023 The second most downloaded episode of 2023 is Why ChatGPT Means You Matter Even More – PTC 430. ChatGPT is all the rage. It's also the reason why you now matter even more than ever. As an oversimplified definition, Chat GPT uses artificial intelligence like Siri on your iPhone or your Alexa smart speaker. It is just much more powerful. GPT is short for Generative Pretrained Transformer. We'll get into a deeper definition in a bit. What I want you to understand is the impact it will have on your podcast. NOT ALL INFO Your podcast cannot simply be information. ChatGPT has nearly all the information anyone could ever need. It is the depth of the internet with the conversation of Alexa. It was an early Monday morning in March of 1995. I had just started my new job as Program Director of an alternative radio station in Lincoln, Nebraska. I was standing in the jock lounge. It was basically an open room with a countertop around the perimeter. All the DJs kept their stuff in there. Sitting on the countertop was a big, bulky, desktop computer. It was primarily used to schedule music logs for the stations. However, this particular computer was connected to the World Wide Web. The mid-90s was when the internet really started taking off. We would pull up a site called Webcrawler. It was the first search engine to be widely used. It was also the first to fully index the content on web pages. One of the primary investors in Webcrawler was Paul Allen of Microsoft. But, we'll get to that connection in a minute. As we played with Webcrawler, we could find anything we wanted. I typed in all sorts of words and phrases to see what would come up. Baseball, bullfrogs, blues music. It was all there. IT'S ABOUT TO CHANGE And that's when I realized the world was about to change. The Encyclopedia Britannica set and the World Books we had in the basement of my mom's house were no longer relevant. Why would I search the encylopedia when I could use Webcrawler? Now, I know you're probably thinking the use of an encyclopedia sounds ludacris. Or I just sound old. Either way, it was the dawn of a new day. This also meant my radio show could no longer be the interesting bits of trivia or music news I typically shared. I would need to serve my listeners something Webcrawler couldn't. That something turned out to be me, my story and my personality. Webcrawler couldn't copy that. Rather than sharing the tidbit that Bob Mould was once a member of Husker Du and then of Sugar, I needed to talk about the strange sounds coming from the apartment next door last night or the time Ozzy Osbourne wouldn't stop talking to my girlfriend. Thanks to Webcrawler and the World Wide Web in 1995, it was indeed a different world and time for a new approach. HERE WE GO AGAIN And that's where we are again today. ChatGPT has the information. If you are only serving information on your podcast, you are the new version of the Encyclopedia Britannica.   BEST OF EPISODE 430 In this episode, we talk a lot about sharing your story and personality to separate you from ChatGPT and make you unique. You can continue to deliver information episode after episode and end up fading away like the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Or you can share a little bit of you on every episode and build long-lasting, powerful relationships with your listeners. If you would like help developing stories for your show, grab my Story Development Worksheet at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/story. Developing your personality is a little more involved. I would love to help you walk through that process. We can talk about that during your Podcast Strategy call. It is my gift to you. No charge. We just develop a powerful strategy for your show. Let's take a look at each of the six steps to build your podcast profits framework. Step one is your Podcast Platform. This is your foundation and your why. TaVona Denise worked with me to build a strong foundation and a powerful “why” for her show. She worked as a nurse, but no longer loved the profession. She transitioned out of nursing into a new career. Soon, she began coaching other nurses to do the same and find the career they loved. This quickly became her purpose in life and she built her show around helping nurses launch their own businesses. AUDIENCE ATTRACTION Step two is your Audience Attraction. This step helps people discover you. You get in front of new potential listeners and show them how you can help. This is all about partnerships, attraction and engagement. You want to find influencers who are already speaking to your ideal clients and partner with them. Greg Payne is the host of the Cool Grandpa podcast. He was around 350 downloads per month. After implementing the Audience Explosion Blueprint, his monthly downloads hit 854. When I put this step into place with my own show, I was able to double my downloads in the span of three months. I basically doubled my audience in 90 days. That was after 275 episodes as well.   BEST OF EPISODE 426 On this episode, we talk with Anne Sullivan about using her podcast to grow her harp teaching business. Anne Sullivan began her career as a concert harpist at age twelve when she appeared twice as soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra. A native of the Philadelphia area and a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, she is in demand as a recitalist, chamber musician and symphonic soloist. Her orchestral appearances have included engagements with the Baltimore Symphony, the Delaware Symphony where she was principal harpist, the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.  In 2012, Ms. Sullivan founded Harp Mastery®, an online resource which now serves a worldwide community of harpists. Her creative approaches to teaching harp students of all ages focus on helping harpists achieve harp happiness, which she defines as "playing the music you want the way you want." Through her blogs, a podcast, online courses, challenges, live events, and proprietary coaching process, Harp Mastery® continues to empower every harpist to find fulfillment and joy in their harp playing. Learn more at harpmastery.com.  Anne now uses her podcast to grow her business and connect with her students. In our conversation today, you will get many nuggets to help you in your business as well. Anne shares with us how she launched her podcast, how she uses the podcast in the business and how her first episode turned out. Give it a listen at www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/episode426. Abundance is a Mindset You Must Learn to Create Abundance is something we hear a lot about these days.  However, it is much easier said than done.  How many times do you feel you are being positive, but life just doesn't seem to go your way.  Well, over time I have realized there is a difference between positivity and abundant thinking.  I think it is super important in business and in life to recognize what it really takes to become an abundant thinker.  Otherwise, we are living in an perpetual state of grind and working toward a future that never arrives… Abundant thinking really boils down to living in constant state of creativity and vision with your focus on the future “greatness” we are all capable of attaining.  When you can live focusing your attention on the future greatness you actually already ARE RIGHT NOW…you will attract the things that you need to continually evolve into that very state.  When you focus on the current limiting circumstances and state you are in, it is difficult to truly benefit from the law of attraction or the universal laws that can help you create the success, health, wealth, and happiness you deserve. To truly become abundant, it requires you to RAISE YOUR VIBRATIONAL FEQUENCY you operate in day to day…I know that sounds a bit out there, but let's talk more about this today.  I hope you enjoy this podcast episode. Podcast Talent Coach

So many podcasters struggle to make money with their podcast. It is the primary challenge when coaches come to me for help. The thing they are missing is rapport. Building rapport is the biggest piece of the sales process. And most podcasters miss it with their podcast. On this episode, I want to help you refine your process, so you can make money with your podcast. Don't make it harder than it needs to be. STRATEGY You know how most podcasters don't make money with their show? They waste a lot of time on their podcast when it doesn't do anything to grow the business? I am a content coach. I help you build powerful, sales relationships with your podcast. If you ever want to try it, the process is really simple. First, we have a 30-minute conversation where we get clear on your podcast goals, what you hope to accomplish and how the podcast works into that plan. Next, we figure out where you are today, determine what you've tried in the past, and build the strategy to get you to your goals. And if you like what we've built, and you want some help implementing your strategy, I can show you what that would look like. You can only continue to dump so much time and effort into an ineffective podcast that isn't bringing you clients and growing your business. Doing what you're doing isn't getting you to your goals. My clients enjoy the freedom, success and financial gain by attracting clients through their podcast. They free up their time and relax with a real strategy to consistently and easily attract clients with their show. Implementation of the strategy we build helps them quickly and easily grow their revenue without the frustration, hard sales and guess work. I have a few slots on my calendar if you want to meet, find the holes in your strategy, and craft your strategy to make money with your podcast. Visit www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply and we'll talk. RAPPORT Jay Gendron has been listening to the podcast for quite some time. He wants to help women write their first draft of their book. Jay started his journey with me by listening to the podcast. He learned how I operate, what I believe and what I value. We built a relationship without even meeting. In December, Jay got on my email list when I offered my workshop. My emails continued to grow our relationship by helping Jay see what's possible. In January, Jay scheduled a call with me. He told me he pivoted his business months ago, because he wants to be a role model for his kids. Such a great purpose. On that call, Jay also told me he couldn't believe we were actually speaking in person. He had been listening to the podcast for so long, it was sureal that he was on a call with me. But one thing Jay said was most powerful. He said, "You're my podcast coach." This was the first time we were actually meeting, and we already had that powerful relationship in place. Jay has now enrolled in my Audience Explosion Blueprint coaching program. He also joined 48 Days with Dan Miller through my affiliate link when I promoted that opportunity. That is the power of your podcast. You can handle over half of the sales process before you even meet a potential client when you build your podcast properly. SALES PROCESS Rapport is the first of the 4 sales process steps. The four steps are... Build rapport Qualify your prospect Educate your prospect on your solution Overcome objections and close the sale However, each step is not equal. Many people rush to the educate step before they've spent enough time building rapport and qualifying their prospect. Let me take you through each of the four steps. BUILDING RAPPORT The first step is build rapport. This step should be 40% of your sales process. Many people believe your prospect needs to know, like and trust you. That is NOT exactly correct. Your prospect doesn't necessarily need to like you, especially if you are a consultant or coach. When selling services, your potentail client needs to respect you. She needs to know you have her best interest at heart, will tell her what she needs to hear, and help her get to her goals. The definition of rapport is "a close and harmonious relationship in which the people or groups concerned understand each other's feelings or ideas and communicate well." That doesn't necessarily mean like. She needs to trust you. This is all about building rappport. Spend quality time building rapport. That is exactly what I did with Jay. Rapport is where your podcast should thrive QUALIFY Once you build rapport, you need to aualify your prospect. This is 30% of the sales process. In this step, you ensure you are right for your potential client and they are right for you. Your podcast handles much of this step as well. When you craft your content properly, your listener can see who you are, how you operate and what you believe. Most importantly, they can see how you get results for your clients. This is where they decide if you are right for them. For instance with my podcast, I show you how you can attract your clients with your podcast. You see how the implementation of your strategy helps you quickly and easily grow your revenue without the frustration, hard sales and guess work. If that is what you want and need, you know I am for you. Your podcast has now completed nearly 70% of your sales process. It is now a matter of determining which of your solutions makes most sense for your potential client. EDUCATE That leads us to step 3. You need to educate your prospect on your solution. If you have completed the first two steps, education should only be about 20% of your sales process. This step is about what you offer and how it solves the problem. However, you cannot start here before you have built rapport and qualified your listener. You can't expect your client to pay for premium products and services before they trust you. How can you offer a solution before you know the problem? Spend the right time in the first two steps before you get here. START Once you have educated your potential client on the solution that is best for her, it is time to overcome objections and get started. Sales people call this closing the sale. I prefer starting the journey. This is 10% of the sales process. STEPS TO RAPPORT Since most of your time in the sales process is spent building rapport, and your podcast can help you do that, let me show you how. There are 7 common steps to building rapport. Your podcast can complete six of these steps. AUTHENTICITY The first step is Be Yourself. Be authentic. Scott & Holly Stoner host the Wellness Compass Podcast. They provide insights on how to navigate our lives and our relationships with greater awareness and intention. On their podcast, Scott and Holly talk about their journey through life and their relationship. They share stories and connect with their listeners. The rapport is amazing. They got the same from my show before we began working together. Scott and Holly said, "We will be forever grateful for Erik's expertise and how accessible and actionable he makes his expertise. He's also just a really good guy and a lot of fun to work with." Being yourself builds rapport through your podcast. FIRST IMPRESSION The next step to building rapport is making a good first impression. Craft a solid introduction and remember names of your potential clients. Everybody loves the sound of their own name. Use those names on your show often. When Dave Jackson of the School of Podcasting is interviewed on another podcast, he always gives a shout out to the show and plays a clip on his podcast. Imagine how easy it is for Dave to land interviews. Podcasters know they will get that reciprical promotion for interviewing a great guest. Plus, they love hearing Dave mention their name on his show. LISTEN Step three is actively listen. When you listen to others, you show your potential client that you have their best interest at heart. You show that you are truly interested in what they have to say. You can demonstrate this on your show when you interview your clients and prospects. Be a good listener. ENGAGE Step four is asking engaging questions and showing interest. This is similar to step three. Asking engaging questions gets your prospects to think and helps you determine the exact solution they need. They help you build the solution. EMPATHY Step five is showing empathy. Relate to your potential client. TaVona Denise hosts Conversations With TaVona Denise. When TaVona transitioned out of nursing into entrepreneurship, she had many other nurses coming to her to learn how she did it. She could relate to each of them. This is when TaVona really found her niche. She now helps those businesswomen launch their next big thing. TaVona has been there and done that. She is able to show true empathy. TaVona used an episode to promote a summit she hosted. She told me the reason the summit was such a big success, was because she used the podcast to promote it. When we worked together, TaVona said what she loved most about working with me is how organized I am. More importantly, she loved that I also helped her when she had her freak out moments. I empathized. COMMONALITY Step six is common ground. TaVona did a great job here as well. It says I am just like you. She demonstrated that she had been there and done that. She and her tribe traveled common ground. Tell your story on your podcast, and show your potential clients that you are just like them. BODY LANGUAGE Step seven is a bit more difficult to accomplish on your podcast. This step to building rapport is body language. Paying attention to body language is critical in building rapport. However, you can't see it when you're listening to a podcast. Therefore, you need to be careful with your intonation, inflection and word selection. How you say it and who you are being when you say it is more important than what you say. WHAT'S NEXT There are the 7 steps to building rapport with your podcast. Now it is time to get started. You can only continue to dump so much time and effort into an ineffective podcast that isn't bringing you clients and growing your business. Doing what you're doing isn't getting you to your goals. My clients enjoy the freedom, success and financial gain by attracting clients with their podcast. They free up their time and relax with a real strategy to consistently and easily attract clients with their show. Implementation of the strategy we buld helps them quickly and easily grow their revenue without the frustration, hard sales and guess work. I have a few slots on my calendar if you want to meet, find the holes in your strategy, and craft your strategy to make money with your podcast. This week is our first “coaching” call with Principal Eric Makelky. We jump on a zoom call, and hit record. You get to hear it. In this episode, Eric shares how, a month into school, he's getting pulled in all directions and can't get focused on doing what needs to be done! Have you ever felt that way? I know I have! He's showing up late to meetings, getting too many todos, and just feels like he's constantly drinking from a firehose! We talk about three distinct strategies in this episode: Strategy 1: add 15–30 minutes to however long you think each meeting will be. Instead of scheduling an hour meeting, give yourself extra time. This intentionally reduces the amount of meetings you can have, prevents you from getting overbooked, and makes things better. Strategy 2: You seem upset, what's the best way to contact you when he gets back at X? When people are upset, their needs can seem more urgent, so make sure they are heard, and that often softens the anxious feelings. Strategy 3: intentional Drive-bys - Schedule time to go be visible. Schedule time to go get the things people want to drop on you. They're going to drop them on you anyway, might as well make it happen on your timetable as much as possible. What do you think of these three strategies? Any good? Did we miss something? We want your feedback! Also, Eric is looking for guests to interview on these three topics: - Retaining great teachers - Adapting to the culture of a new school More Show Notes Ideal Week - Being new, running into being a fire extinguisher instead of a leader. Start with Office team - 2 principals, 2 secretaries Shared calendars Managing your own time? Informal meetings - often showing up late. Why are you showing up late? Drive bys are causing me to be late Start and end on time is a norm. Strategy: add 15–30 minutes to however long you think each meeting will be. Fridays: Red - no staff no students Blue - staff 8–12, kids maybe or required 9–11 Black - 8–4 full day staff inservice Lots of questions from lots of PLCs Being pulled in a lot of directions for each Friday New expectation - This is what you tell someone if they stop by… Previous expectation - Someone asks for the principal, we get the principal. Give a respectful answer Why wouldn't your staff do it as you are asking? Angry, appease because they are angry. People get defensive when others are upset. Strategy: You seem upset, what's the best way to contact you when he gets back at X? Proactive things to do to prevent things from popping up Quiet time outside of school hours to get other things done. Regular emails - Friday memo to make sure people know All the reasons why staff come down to office “Master doc” Schedule time to pick up drive bys. Strategy: intentional Drive-bys - Schedule time to go be visible. We haven't talked about me - why not? What was most valuable? Morning drive by lap. How long will this last? Resources The Improvement of the Mind by Isaac Watts Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell Episode Highlights The Tale of Two Athletes Imagine there are two people who both want to go to the Olympics and win a gold medal. The first one decided to figure it out on their own. While the other one got a coach. Both have the potential to win a gold medal. Yet, it is really rare for someone to make it on their own. Why do we instinctively think that the one who has a coach will be more successful? The more engines you have in your vehicle, the faster you can get to your destination. Thus, getting a coach is a significant advantage. Five Ways to Improve Your Mind The first thing you need to do is to observe. The second one is to self-study. In this path, there can be a lot of trial and error. The third way is to obtain lectures and formal education. Here, you receive one-way communication from an expert. The fourth way is through shared group goals and experiences. You can learn through observing how other people overcome their challenges. Lastly, you have to follow your gut intuition. You need to harness the personal experiences and reflexes you built over time. Overcoming Obstacles as You Improve Your Mind Daryl hired seven research teams in Uganda, Nigeria, Canada, America, and Australia.  They helped Daryl's team look through scientific literature about what it takes to succeed in business. They reviewed the top 26 studies and found eight critical success factors. Self-Efficacy The most important critical success factor is self-efficacy. Your efficacy or ability to get things done does matter. But to succeed in business, your whole team must be effective. If you're not effective, you're not going to be able to get things done. Strategic Planning You can be the best at what you do. But without a strategic plan, yours is a failed effort from the beginning. Having a strategic plan involves being aware of what is happening in your field or community. Market Intelligence and Marketing Strategy Market intelligence requires you to be connected to what is happening on the ground.  You need to examine your customers, competitors, and even the state of politics. Marketing strategy is how you deliver your message to your target communities. Sales Skills and Strategy You need to be able to match your sales skills and strategy to the industry and your consumers. For example, if you're selling a rental property, your strategy will be different for university students versus working professionals. Money Management, Business Operations, and Business Intelligence Money is not everything. But if you do not have it, your business is not going anywhere.  Likewise, money mismanagement can let your business down. Business operations refer to the team meetings, the hiring process, legal compliance, and other things needed to keep your business working. Business intelligence refers to feedback loops. How is your business doing? The Key to Succeed in Business As you build your personal experience, you get better. But life can still get in the way. You need to keep your goals in mind to move forward. One thing you can do to move forward is to take inventory of your life constantly. You can do this by journaling about the different aspects of your life. List down things you think you need to do. Out of the list, think about what you can delegate to team members. People are way more intelligent and capable than they believe they are. But often, they are too distracted that they lose sight of their future. Increasing Your Energy Levels Look into the areas of your life weekly and find nuggets of motivation. Motivation is not just about how you manage your time but also your energy. If you have a low amount of energy, you're only going to get an equal amount of tasks done. No matter how efficient and organized you are, if you do not have enough energy, you'll rely on stimulants to get through your day. Health is a huge component in achieving your goals to succeed in business. Why Your Habits are Important We are what we repeatedly do.  The habits you have are so important because they lead to excellence. Try to participate in events that increase your knowledge about business and investments. Time Management Tools List down your top three goals for the day and the five most important tasks of the week. Do not be busy; be productive. It is all about getting things done. Use the Pomodoro technique. Work for 25 minutes and take a short or long break after. The idea behind this is accountability. If you want to be successful at something, you need to have daily and dedicated focus and time. You can use a checklist to get things done.   What You Really Need You need education to help you point you in the right direction.  Then, you can look into motivation and the tools to help you need to get there. Unfortunately, life is a competition in certain aspects.  To have an advantage, you need to improve your mind. Everyone can succeed in business. You just need the time, attention, and focus. 2 Powerful Quotes “Setting goals that are meaningful to you can be motivation to get everything else in your life organized.” “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” Resources Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell Tomato Timer  Getting Things Done Enjoyed This Interview? Every entrepreneur wants to find an amazing virtual personal assistant who can give them their time (and life) back. You know, the legendary superstar team member who rides a unicorn, disperses magical fairy dust, and transforms problems into profit!  All joking aside, there are people out there who are not only qualified and capable of helping you maximize your business in this way, they will often work for what you can pay them just for the perk of working from home. This episode features Tim Francis, a guy who has been to a stress-induced state of poor health and back again - and was motivated by the experience to figure out the details of building a team that can support his business and move it forward. Listen to this one. It’s worth all the time you can give it. Your assistant will only provide the amount of value you pour into them There’s a myth out there in the entrepreneurial community: The right virtual assistant will take things on quickly and make a difference immediately. It’s simply not true. Your online personal assistant will only provide the amount of value that you put into them. That means training - clear direction - empowerment - and more. And all of that comes from you. Listen to hear how Tim likens the position you are in, to that of a Surgeon, a specialized position that requires help from other skilled individuals in order to make the “surgery” of what you do in your business a spectacular success. It’s a powerful image that can help you rethink your systems, understand what REAL delegation looks like, and build a team that sets you free from the worry, stress, and headache of running things all on your own. What does it take to delegate to an online personal assistant properly? After his health crisis, Tim took the time to understand what effective delegation looks like - and one of the most important things he discovered is that there are 4 levels - or 4 types of things - every entrepreneur can delegate. But it takes time and a systematic plan to enable you to get all four of them off your plate. Let’s walk through them... Simple tasks - these are the one-off items that anyone can do with a very small amount of instruction. As your virtual personal assistant does more of these, he/she will develop the capacity to handle more and figure things out on their own. Simple decisions - this category is not about tasks, but about making the call when a question or system-issue arises. As an entrepreneur, you want your assistant to be capable of handling these.  Hard decisions - as you can tell by the name, this one is a step or two up the responsibility ladder from the one before. It’s a skill that has to be developed over time, and with your help. Outcomes - this one is essentially the first 3 types of delegation rolled into one, except that it also includes responsibility for the entire result of a process, event, or plan. Listen to hear how Tim describes it and you’ll get an idea of the amazing things a virtual personal assistant can accomplish. 360 Delegation can help you train your virtual personal assistant properly and powerfully There are tons of things that you can and should pass off to an assistant, so having enough tasks for them to do is not the problem. Most entrepreneurs have issues when they don't properly train their assistant. That’s why Tim created his 360 Delegation framework. It involves 3 areas... Vision (show them a sample of success) Resources required (credentials, money, authority, etc.) Definition of “done” (how do we know it’s complete? - sign-offs? etc.) Every time you delegate something to your assistant, you MUST include all three of these aspects of the task or project for them to be the superstar team member you need. It’s up to you to empower and equip them for success. Listen to learn how to do it! Once you delegate to your virtual personal assistant the RIGHT way, what should YOU be doing? Hiring an assistant and training them well is not so that you can sit back on a beach somewhere, sipping drinks. Its purpose is so that you can be released to do the high-level things that make a multiplied difference to your business. What is it that you should be doing? Strategy - YOU are the one responsible for determining the direction and approach for your business. This can’t and shouldn’t be delegated. It involves high-level skill and requires high-level access to people and resources. It’s YOUR domain as the leader. When you can free up your time to do THIS, things move forward exponentially - and a virtual personal assistant is the key you're missing. Don’t miss this episode - it’s full of practical, powerful advice from a guy who has learned it the hard way - Tim Francis. This week’s episode is taken from a livestream training in April 2018 with over 500 people in attendance desiring to learn more about Warrior Wealth. Garrett blends together the very different yet harmonious conversations of Advertising and Marketing to create a Road Map to take your business and life further when it comes to advertising the messages that matter to you. The following topics will be discussed every month: Week 1: Power Week 2: Production Week 3: Profit Week 4: Protection In This Week's Episode...PRODUCTION Golden Nugget #1: Your Money Must Back Your Message When it comes to marketing and advertising, one of the things you actually have to look at is the time and investment into the quality of the advertising and the marketing that you deliver. I started looking at the advertising within this industry and noticed that the vast majority of the marketers I knew were cheap fucking bastards when it came to the positioning, packaging and promotion of the shit they were pitching. The way this entire experience for you is being contained is currently inside what we call a frame. Everything you are seeing is a result of our marketing and advertising strategy. It’s not just me giving you a pitch to invest in a ticket, its me showing you by what I do that we take our time, money and energy to back our message. QUESTION: What does the packaging and promotion of what you offer say about your company and what someone can expect to experience with you or your product? Golden Nugget #2: From Hope to Strategy You must have a paid advertising strategy rather than living off of hopium - an irrational or unwarranted optimism. What’s happened is that marketing has become a fucking shit show. You must also be able to operate like a sniper in the way you approach your content and advertising that you’re paying for. You must look for a specific target, have a specific outcome, and back that target with a specific action that you want them to take by paying to put your message into the feed and into the world that exists for your prospects. QUESTION: Do you advertise with hopeful, organic, general marketing or do you operate like a sniper? Golden Nugget #3: Leads on Demand A business either grows or dies based upon its lead sources. Most people are trained to think about marketing at the end of the conversation and spend their time building all their bullshit first, leaving marketing as an afterthought. The one conversation that actually matters is: Can you make it rain on demand? Can you produce a situation inside your business where there is a surplus of leads available to you, and inside of that where you get to choose who you want to do business with? QUESTION: When are you going to stop the chaos and burnout of constantly struggling to acquire leads? Golden Nugget #4: Pay to Play How much are you willing to pay today for a qualified lead? This question altered my reality because I had never, ever considered that I should Pay to Play. If you follow around successful businesses that have maintained and continue to grow systematically, you will see that they have a paid advertising strategy that backs their product, service or experience. Do we still do organic marketing? Of course! An example of this is we do podcasts and do posts all across social media that support our ads. You first have to be willing to pay to advertise for your leads. You want bigger results? You have to commit yourself to seeing and doing things differently. QUESTION: What is the actual dollar amount you would be willing to pay today for a qualified lead? Golden Nugget #5: Leads, Applications and Clients We had to look at the cost and at the dollars - how much $ we paid and how much $ we made. My focus was on the gap between two things: My Costs and my Dollars. Where the real money is made is in the strategic seduction of the leads and applications that did not initially buy. 90% of the individuals that you bring in through advertising will not buy from you in the first 90-120+ days. When you begin to advertise, you begin to recognize quickly that there is not the kind of money in advertising that you first assume. There is a world beyond the first pass that exists 3-6 months from now, and if you never stop advertising that means the dollars today are being cashed in on value created on leads acquired in the past 3-6+ months. QUESTION: What are you doing with the leads you acquire that don't initially buy from you?   If the King doesn't rise, the Kingdom dies!   Quote of the Week: "Pay to Play. This is the game. Stop fucking trying to play the game for free. At some point you have to cross the crevice of hope into the game of strategy and predictability by being willing to back your message with money, by advertising and putting your message into a location that allows you to experience the abundance of more leads than your company can actually service." --Garrett J White

Have you ever wondered how to unlock your true potential? Most people focus on igniting the wrong things. What if you knew how enhance the three keys—that already exist within you—to reach the level of happiness and success you want? Join career expert, motivator, and award-winning author Andrew LaCivita as he discusses how to unlock your true potential! Here they are: 1. Share yourself. Sharing your own story connects you to the rest of the world. Sharing what you learned and how you were transformed benefits others even if they might do it differently. 2. Be yourself. This is what keeps you connected to you. There is no greater struggle than when what you think, say, and do are not in complete harmony. Think about those times you felt out of sync or not yourself. What was missing? Likely, it was that congruence. 3. Give yourself. This is what connects you to higher powers. It also, oddly, provides the greatest return. This starts with contributing your efforts fully to what you’re going to do and give to the rest of this world. This is giving everything you have to your calling. Giving yourself—which yields the highest results—requires four components/characteristic: - Strategy: You have a strategy for where you’re going in life. You seek an understanding of why the world works the way it does in this area. You question everything. You take nothing at face value. - Mindset: You maintain a particular mindset. You understand limitations are something of the mind, not the universe. - Practice: Once you have your strategy and no-limits mindset in place, you practice to perfection. By practice, I don’t mean brute force. Brute force or mindlessly working hard will never overcome intellectual laziness. You practice with an extreme sense of deliberation. You practice your craft well past the point of being able to do it perfectly. You practice it to the point you couldn’t possibly make a mistake because you are so dialed in. - Discomfort: You seem to live in a continual state of discomfort. Of course, I’m not talking about living in pain, but continually pushing yourself so that every day you’re a bit uncomfortable because you’re constantly trying new activities and undertaking new projects that progress you. You embrace this discomfort because you know it will make you a great pioneer.
