Piece Of The Pai
10. Courageous Solo Travel (for Women)

Piece Of The Pai

Play Episode Listen Later May 21, 2025 13:16

Solo travel can be one of the most radical ways a woman learns to trust herself, hear herself, and build a life that actually fits.   In this episode, Nesha Pai shares how a solo trip to Paris turned into part-time living, and why she believes every woman should try traveling alone at least once. She talks about the years of intentional choices that made this possible, from starting her own business to setting aside $25 at a time for a travel fund. None of it happened overnight. But over time, it added up to something bigger: a life designed with purpose.   What happens when you give yourself space to be fully alone? What do you learn when there's no one else to consult, compromise with, or wait for? Nesha explains how solo travel creates clarity, confidence, and connection, and how Paris gave her a sense of ease she couldn't find anywhere else.   This episode is for anyone who's felt the pull to step outside their routine and listen to the voice that says, “There's more.” Whether or not part-time living is on your radar, the real question is this: what would change if you stopped waiting for the perfect time and just went?   Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Introduction 00:54 Why Solo Travel Matters for Women 03:15 How I Built a Remote Life on Purpose 05:05 Why I Chose Paris 08:00 The Real Benefits of Solo Travel 09:25 What Part-Time Living Can Offer 10:19 The Truth About Traveling Alone 11:25 Stop Waiting - Take the Leap   Connect with Nesha:  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/neshapai/ Website: https://www.neshapai.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neshapai LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/neshapaicpa Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Welcome to The Underdog Podcast where we talk about how to get more customers, impact clients at the highest level, and build great products that change the world. Daniel Francis shares his journey on the best up to date strategies to build great profitable coaching businesses. Get ready to learn & be inspired. In this Podcast, I'm walking you through my wild ride of naming my coaching program. Started off kinda funny – called my Facebook group "Stuttering Genius". My coach was like, "What the heck, man?" and told me to name it something that shows what my clients want to achieve. That's how "Overcoming Stuttering Community" was born. But then, guess what? The name "Master Your Stutter" won a poll in my Facebook group! That was it! This name had a ring to it, you know? And from there, "Master Your Stutter" became my brand. Here's a cool thing: I dig deeper into what “mastery” really means to me. It's about nailing the basics. That's what I live by. Now, let's talk about MASTERY – the acronym that's the heartbeat of my philosophy: Mindset - Guys, it's all about a strong headspace. Action - Doing stuff, not just dreaming. Strategy - You gotta have a game plan. Transformation - It's like going to the gym but for your life. Empathy - Gotta feel for your clients, right? Resilience - Life's gonna throw punches. Learn to take 'em. Yield - In the end, it's all about the results. That's what counts. I really lay it all out in this video, showing how each part of MASTERY is super important. And hey, I'm curious – do you have a cool acronym for your business? Drop it in the comments and let's chat about it. On this episode of the series "How I Built my Speech Path Business," we talk with SLP Jacey Bullock.  Jacey spent the beginning of her career as a speech therapist in the school setting, and once she became pregnant with her 3rd child, she knew she wanted to create an opportunity for herself that would allow more time with her children while still using her passion and knowledge as a therapist.  What started as testing out the waters seeing a couple of kids privately quickly turned into a full blown speech therapy clinic with several speech therapists working with and for her.  Jacey never could have imagined that starting a business just a few months shy of having her third baby would have successfully grown into what it is today.  Jacey goes through her journey with us from marketing strategies, searching for office spaces, finding and hiring the right therapists, serving her patients and families and creating contracts for her employees.   One of Jacey's main goals in being a business owner is to create a flexible and empowering work environment that radiates positivity and attracts both clients and therapists alike.   She shares operational strategies that keep her team motivated and her clients returning. From the decision to operate on a private pay system to the freedom of scheduling that allows therapists to maintain work-life harmony, Jacey is proving that her foundational values are key to creating a successful business . She also shares about her sister's partnership in the business and the importance of trust and communication when making those decisions.  Making sure families are matched with the right therapist is another important goal for Jacey as a business owner.  She knows that the right fit is important for both the therapist and the child, and although it takes time and energy making sure that happens, the effort has proven to keep inquiries coming in and therapist schedules full.  Tune in to this encouraging and informative episode with Jacey Bullock as she shares the importance of combining work goals, community outreach and family values together to create KCL Pediatrics.  Check out Jacey's website - www.klcpediatrictherapy.com and her IG Account! Also, if you haven't done so already, follow our podcast!  You will be the first to know when new episodes release.  We would also love for you to leave a review and rate our show.  The Speech Source appreciates your feedback and support!  Follow here!Follow Kim and Mary on IG here! - https://www.instagram.com/thespeechsource/For more information on speech, language, feeding and play - visit The Speech Source Website - https://www.thespeechsource.com/

How do I build a million-dollar company? Better yet, how can someone build a multimillion-dollar public speaking company? Well, although I have done both of those things, I wouldn’t suggest anyone try to do what I did. I made every mistake in the book. In fact, every mistake showed me what “not to do.” Then, I’d use that lesson to get me closer to what “to do.”By the way, the reason that I am not the best role model for building a business is that I’m pretty hard-headed. It is both a blessing and a curse. Hopefully, if you are a business owner and you are looking to grow, you can use my example to help save you time and effort. I spent 12 years putting everything back into my business before I crossed the million-dollar per year threshold. However, I was able to generate the second million dollars in less than six months after that.Hopefully, a few of these lessons-learned can help you in your journey.Learn from Experts Who Already Have “Fruit on the Tree.”I was teaching a class in Boston long ago and was staying in a hotel out by Logan Airport. There were no restaurants in or around the hotel. However, the airport shuttle dropped me off in a little village that had three eating choices. One of the three was a barbeque place. Being from Texas, I’m pretty picky about my BBQ, but the line was out the door. While waiting to get a table, I began to read the press-clippings posted in the lobby. It turns out that the owner of the BBQ joint was a Korean Doctor who came to the US to practice medicine. Shortly after he arrived, he attended a meeting where the caterers served barbeque. He loved it. A few years later, he was traveling to a different state and saw a BBQ place. Hoping to get a similar meal, he stopped in. However, he was shocked that although he had ordered the same type of meat, it tasted fantastic but totally different from what he remembered. This started a 10-year quest to travel the US collecting BBQ recipes. He experimented with Texas brisket and Tennesse pulled-pork. Then he perfected the St. Louis baby-back ribs. When I was finally seated at a table, I ordered the brisket. I loved every mouthful. In fact, I felt like the food critic in the movie Rattatoui. The meal made me think of home. The point is that this Korean doctor didn’t invent Texas BBQ brisket. He just traveled to Texas and learned how to do it properly from someone who was already an expert. That is what I did as well. You Must Invest Time and Resources into Your Craft to Become the Expert. For those of you who don’t know, my college degree is in the Oil & Gas industry. My first big break was with Atlantic Richfield as an intern. However, at the end of the summer, I had to give a presentation and I totally bombed it. I hated public speaking and knew I needed help. So I read books, attended Toastmaster, and took presentation classes. Nothing really seemed to work, though. That is until I came across an expert in the industry.Eventually, I found a professional speaker named Mary Ann Smith who was offering classes to the general public. The fee that she was charging for a seat in her class was about what I made in a month. I was desperate, though. I had already tried so many things and nothing worked. But this coach had built a company that was generating about a half-million dollars in income in a city of about 89,000 people. For full show notes, visit How I Built a Multimillion-Dollar Speaking Businesshttps://www.fearlesspresentations.com/how-i-built-a-multimillion-dollar-speaking-company/

Here's How I Built 5 Streams of Income By Age 25. Ready to get started with your own youtube channel? Check out our 10 dollar course quick-start here | http://bit.ly/VBAlite Follow Me On Instagram: ➡ @clarkkegley #FastbackFreedomFriday #PassiveIncome #RefusingToSettle But at the time I was 25 I had five streams of income. Now these were all passive income, laughing, Scrooge McDuck in a swimming pool of gold coins all the way to the bank or sip and pina coladas on the beach of Bali. Some of these were jobs and so in this video I thought it'd be fun to give you a little trip down memory lane on the five streams of income by 25 so if you're in your first year as an entrepreneur, listen, if you're working a nine to five job, you want to escape, give you some options as well. It's Clark, which are fusing the subtle guys. Welcome with fast back Friday We're doing a new series. You and me, we're cruising going on a little drive cause the Fastback Friday, that's that freedom Friday. A lot of you watching, you're in your first 12 months of entrepreneurship. Maybe you're working a job and you're like, is this really for me, I kind of want to do something on my own now with the power of the internet where you can literally start a business for zero. We were just talking about ideas. That's a business. Um, so in this video I want to talk to you about if you're below 25 or maybe around in your twenties these were the first five income streams that I had. Okay. So let me know in the comments if you like the series number one, probably the most predictable. That was a nine to five job. Now, by the time I was in my twenties in college, university did go to university, had about, I don't know, 14 or 15 different odd jobs up until that point. For me it was scrubbing toilets and doing housekeeping on the dorm floor is at my university. Not glamorous, right? But what it taught me was that I could learn on someone else's dime. That's a huge takeaway for you. So while I was scrubbing the dishes or the toilets or whatever odd job I was doing, I was listening to podcasts in my ears. So stuff to make you better. I was listening to self-development, motivational speakers, scrubbing spots, very mr Miyagi, wax on, wax off. How you doing? So for you, I would definitely recommend take a job where you can learn on someone else's dime. Let's just say your goal one day is to open a brewery. Okay? You want to have like the best beer in town. You want to brew your own beer. It'd be stupid for you to go out from day one and open your own brewery when you don't know how. So why do that when you could get paid to work in a brewery, you're gaining experience. You see what I'm getting at here? If you want to start a YouTube channel, don't just burn the ships and start it from day one. Maybe take a nine to five where you can just download formats in your head of other people's YouTube channels. So that's the big takeaway. Nine to five, learn on someone else's dime. So I mentioned podcasting, that was the second job. So as I was scrubbing spots, as I was listening to podcasts, I'm like, I could do that. Great, I can totally do that. They're just having a cool conversation. The during the interview, like that's sounds bad ass. I want to do that. And so what I did is I'm like, okay, while I'm scrubbing spots, I'll learn about podcasting. And so I actually did my own podcast and I wasn't making much at the time. I think I was working for a freelance blog where I was getting about $200 an episode for me, $200 an episode. I'm like, that's 20 hours of spot scrubbing. So that was great. So I was making $200 an episode, but I was also networking with people, New York times bestselling authors, scientists, researchers, and learning. A lot of people talk about these high-income skills, right? Speaking, interviewing, doing all that stuff, practice. That was a high-income skill. So that was another example of learning on someone else's time. You see your own getting out here, podcasting, that was the second one. Third that led me into starting my own YouTube channel. Now the story behind that real quick compressed version, so I don't crash on the fast back is I was doing that podcast and I thought I'd made it, man. I was making 20 to 30 grand on my own terms, could work from anywhere, could travel, and just edit podcast shows and do it all virtually. Right? And then one day I went to a coffee shop, opened up a computer that I was on and got an email saying, Hey Clark, we're cutting the show. We don't need you anymore. So overnight the income was gone. Huge lesson I learned is build something on the side before you're ready, because you never know when that rainy day's gonna come, man. So I was at the time starting this YouTube channel that you're seeing right now. We're fusing the subtle, it wasn't called that back then. Refusing to settle, Clark

Ethically sourced. Charitable. Fine jewelry. Those are three things I can get on board with! Saint Mae has been around for less than a year now, but they are making a splash in the diamond industry with their commitment to conscious creations of stunning designs. I first came across Saint Mae on Instagram and gave them a follow because 1) I loved their mission and, 2) the rings are basically the prettiest things I have ever seen. After getting to chat with the founder of the business, Carli, I'm even more on board with what Saint Mae is doing! To view the full show notes, continue reading here or visit my website: www.heartfelthippie.com In this episode, Carli is educating us on what conflict diamonds really are. Raise your hand if you've seen the movie ‘Blood Diamond' and that's basically the extent of your knowledge on this topic! Me too, friend, me too. Even if you haven't seen the movie, Carli is going to shed some light on what takes place in this industry and how diamond mining is harming our world. Did you know that diamond mining is extremely dangerous work taking place in primarily impoverished areas where workers (many of them children!) are exploited on a daily basis? Did you know that diamond mining is devastating our ecosystem because of how much earth has to be extracted to find one small little stone? I didn't! Carli is not just shedding light on the issues in the industry, but also on the solutions! I say this in nearly every episode, but it's true - there are SO many great solutions! Even if you're not in the market for purchasing a diamond ring anytime soon, chances are you will be at some point in your lifetime and that you know multiple people who will be, too. Here's your chance to get educated and make a difference by spreading the word! What's even better is that the solutions that Carli shares are actually more cost effective than traditional diamonds. That's right - you can help save people, the planet, and cash money when you support companies like Saint Mae. Have I convinced you yet?! You are going to be empowered, like I hope you always are, after listening to Carli talk about making a difference by voting with your dollar. I couldn't agree with her more when she says, “We have the power to change the industry.” PREACH! I cannot WAIT to tell my friends about Saint Mae who are getting engaged or hunting for their next piece of fine jewelry! Confession: I have totally shown hubby the Saint Mae page to give him some gift ideas for the future, and I'm not ashamed! I've also added Carli's hand-painted leather jackets to my wish list - check them out and you'll see why. If nothing else, make sure you check out the Saint Mae Insta page and give it a follow. Carli's design skills are off the chain and you're gonna love scrolling through her dreamy feed. Creative Playdate

The last episode of Creative Playdate for the year is a wonderful interview with illustrator, motion graphics artist, and designer Santiago Uceda. His work has so much character. He talks about how is illustration used to be very dark but that his family has helped to inject more hope into the work. You can read a great interview with Santiago and his partner, Jen Bell, in Family Circle about their blended family and lives. Santiago is a Peruvian immigrant and he was very open about his experiences and feelings about the current political climate around immigration. If you want to know more about Santiago and his work, you can follow him on Twitter and Instagram. As I mention at the beginning of the show, in addition to Creative Playdate being syndicated on Illustration Age, I am now going to be writing a bi-monthly column on the site. My first installment, "How I Built an Illustration Career Without Going to Art School" is up now and I should have a new one out next week. Thank you to Thomas James and Jason Ritz for our theme music and thanks to all of you who have been listening and supporting the show! You can find out more about myself and my work at www.michellekondrich.com and please be sure to subscribe to the show on iTunes! I will be back with new episodes in January, so please enjoy the holiday season, stay safe, and Happy New Year!
