The report suggests that metro Atlanta's population growth is attributed to strong employment opportunities, with a 5.4% increase in the employment base since the pandemic began.Roller-coaster ‘hoteling' of Georgia foster children at record lowGeorgia's foster care system currently has only seven children "hoteling," according to the Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Candice Broce. "Hoteling" refers to temporarily housing foster children in state offices or hotels. This number has fluctuated, with a recent high of 95 children and a record low of seven as of Tuesday night. The state legislature allocated $10 million to address this issue in the fiscal 2024 budget. A bill was also passed to establish a uniform process for placing children in the custody of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS). The DHS is launching a pilot program to aid families in accessing treatment and services. The reunification of children with their parents remains a primary goal for DFCS. The study committee plans to continue meetings to make recommendations for the upcoming legislative session.KSU's economic impact exceeded $2 billion last yearKennesaw State University (KSU) had a significant economic impact on Georgia, totaling over $2.03 billion in fiscal year 2022, which was a 10.3% increase from the previous year's $1.84 billion. The university, with 40,162 enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, is the third-largest in Georgia after Georgia State University and UGA. The University System of Georgia's report stated that KSU's economic contribution stemmed from various sources, including personnel and operating expenses, student spending, and community purchases driven by the institution, its employees, and students. KSU's employment of 15,917 individuals led to the creation of 2.8 additional jobs in the local community for each job on campus. KSU's president, Kathy Schwaig, highlighted the university's positive impact on the state's economy through academic programs, research, enrollment, and partnerships.Kell's Brown commits to South FloridaCJ Brown, the 6-foot-2 point guard from Kell High School, has committed to playing college basketball at the University of South Florida. Brown, a three-star recruit, announced his commitment on social media, expressing gratitude for the offers he received from various college coaches. Brown was a key player in leading Kell High School to a 28-2 record and their first state championship. He will play under the coaching of Amir Abdur-Rahim, the former Kennesaw State coach who recently took over the South Florida program. Brown's commitment comes after receiving offers from several other schools, including Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Mississippi State.Girls Cross Country Preview: Marietta in position to repeat as state champion The Marietta girls cross country team is in a strong position, having secured their third consecutive state title with five titles in six years. Their success is attributed to a close-knit and hardworking team culture. The team's dominance was evident in their recent state championship win, scoring only 33 points with top placements. The majority of their runners remain young, with only one graduate out of the seven who competed in the state championship. Marietta's youth shone through last season, with notable performances from freshmen and sophomores. Their success has made them a consistent threat in the state, despite competition from rivals like Harrison and Walton. Overall, Cobb County has a strong presence in girls cross country, with several schools making significant impacts in state championships. **Georgia ranked No. 1 in preseason coaches pollThe University of Georgia's football team, the two-time defending national champion, has secured the top spot in the 2023 preseason coaches poll. Back with more after this Commercial: Dayco – Ingles 7 - Heller Story 7: Tort Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced his intention to advocate for tort reform in the upcoming session of the General Assembly. Speaking at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce's annual Congressional Luncheon, Kemp highlighted the need to address laws that facilitate frivolous lawsuits against businesses in the state, leading to increased insurance costs and hindering job creation. While proponents, including insurance companies and business groups, have supported tort reform for years, opponents, such as trial lawyers and legislative Democrats, argue that proposed legislation favors insurers over victims of accidents and malpractice. Kemp plans to work with lawmakers to reduce insurance premiums and create a fairer legal environment in the 2024 legislative session. Story 8: Waters The Kansas City Royals dominated the Boston Red Sox with a 9-3 victory at Fenway Park. The Royals' offense was strong, collecting 15 hits, including home runs from Etowah Alum Drew Waters, MJ Melendez, and Michael Massey. Today, I am blessed to have here with me Temple Stewart. She is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Personal Trainer, and Health Behavior Change Specialist. Temple played D1 soccer at the University of Tennessee Martin, which is where she received a degree in Dietetics. She completed an internship at the VA Medical Center in Bay Pines, FL. Temple currently works and lives in St. Petersburg, FL with her husband and their two poodles, Axel and Rowdie. Throughout college Temple developed a very unhealthy relationship with food and began using food rules or diets as punishment or for comfort. This behavior propelled Temple into learning all she could about food and how impacts our bodies, ultimately making her choose to become a Registered Dietitian. Throughout the process, Temple began to learn how to eat for health and how to develop a healthy relationship with food. Along the road, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), furthermore increasing her interest in treating the body with nutrition. In this episode, Temple talks about her journey to health and reversing the symptoms of both PCOS and Hashimotos. As a trained dietitian, Temple reveals why her education around food wasn't exactly the best information. Plus, Temple dives into her favorite health hacks, including the carnivore diet, intermittent fasting, carb cycling, and lab work. Tune in as we chat about how much protein you should be eating, how keto will help with fertility, and tips for asking your doctor about prescribing a CGM. [02:15] Temple Speaks About Her Journey To Health In college, Temple was losing hair, and she was gaining weight rapidly. Plus, she had no menstrual cycles. When she went to the doctor, they put her on birth control. After moving to Florida to become a dietitian, Temple's health worsened. Temple was doing exactly what they taught her in dietitian school: eat less, move more, more vegetables, and less fat. Eventually, Temple was diagnosed with both PCOS and Hashimotos. [06:10] How Temple Realized Her Dietitian Training Was Garbage Temple read The Obesity Code: https://www.amazon.com/The-Obesity-Code-Dr-Jason-Fung-audiobook/dp/B01MRKEO0U/benazadi-20 After reading The Obesity Code, she went down a rabbit hole with tons of other resources. She started helping patients in the hospital lower their carbs. Temple did a research study; every single person got off their medications and lost weight after lowering their carbs. [08:30] It Took Three Months For Temple To Reverse Her Hashimoto's Symptoms Hashimoto's thyroiditis is essentially an autoimmune disease. A lot of times, Hashimoto's and PCOS go hand-in-hand. Keto can be so helpful because it takes away a lot of the triggers of the immune system. Through nutrition, Temple was able to get rid of all her symptoms. [16:00] If You're Starting To Change Your Diet, Try Carnivore Everyone can benefit from a carnivore lifestyle. A lot of people are suffering from something and don't realize it until they go carnivore. If you want to get into ketosis quickly, try carnivore for a couple of days. People who are hitting plateaus can definitely benefit from a carnivore diet. [16:55] Insulin Resistance Is Actually Weight Loss Resistance What's causing the weight to stay on your body could be due to insulin. There are people who have tried every diet in the book. For the most part, people end up lowering calories. However, nothing will work when insulin resistance is up. Weight loss is typically a symptom; it usually comes after you heal your body. [18:45] Strategies For Overcoming A Keto Weight Loss Stall A lot of times, carb cycling can be effective. Complex carbs can help women depending on where they are in their cycle. Temple will also suggest switching up your intermittent fasting routine. The same thing goes for exercise – sometimes you are doing too much! Plus, don't forget to look at your sleep and your stress. Lastly, you may need to get labs and see what's going on with your hormones. [21:30] Why Temple Loves To Implement Intermittent Fasting Intermittent fasting is great for weight loss, aging, and protecting the brain. Many people do well fasting for 16-hours and having an 8-hour eating window. A 72 hour fast done quarterly can reset your immune system. Temple will encourage her clients to do what works for them. Fasting during breakfast is very popular. However, many women do better when they fast during dinner time. With intermittent fasting, the sky is the limit. [25:15] How Much Protein Temple Will Recommend For Her Clients Temple recommends .8 or .9 grams per lb of body weight for a woman. People who are snacking could stop if they meet their protein needs. Most women are undereating protein. The recommendations out there on protein are so low! [30:10] Why Protein Is So Satiating and Filling To The Human Body Protein is the building block for everything. It's really the only macronutrient that you cannot live without. Plus, protein is extremely satiating. It's really hard to eat an exorbitant amount of food when you're eating protein. [32:35] Why The Scale Is Setting You Up For Failure Women can fluctuate eight pounds just in terms of hormonal water weight gain when they cycle through their period. People get so attached to the scale because society values thinness. Instead, you should judge based on how you feel. Think about how your bowel movements are, what your skin feels like, how your hair is growing. The scale should be way down the list of importance when it comes to health. [37:00] Tips On Speaking With Your Doctor About Your Health First, Temple says you need to find the right doctor. Usually, a doctor can get you a CGM. Naturopaths and more holistic homeopathic physicians should be able to help you. Tell them you are interested in how food impacts your blood glucose levels. If a doctor shuts you down or isn't even willing to have the conversation with the insurance company, you might think about finding someone who is. [40:30] Should I Follow A Keto Diet If I'm Trying To Get Pregnant? PCOS is the most common cause of infertility. The most common cause of PCOS is absolutely insulin resistance. So, keto will improve your chances of getting pregnant. PCOS women are at a much higher risk for gestational diabetes. Going low carb will be safe if you're doing it in a nourishing way. You have to focus heavily on fatty meats. When you get pregnant, you really have to focus and make sure you're getting the right nutrients. AND MUCH MORE! Recent developments for the Tennessee Titans include a lawsuit filed by former left tackle Taylor Lewan, changes in the front office, including the departure of former interim general manager Ryan Cowden and the first post-draft media availability for select players, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill. ... Third-round draft pick Tyjae Spears could be the change-of-pace back the Titans have wanted for years. He was not a workhorse at Tulane, but was consistently productive when he had the ball in his hands. ... Fifth-round pick Josh Whyle should be someone the Titans know well given that he played at Cincinnati under coach Luke Fickell, who is coach Mike Vrabel's close friend. Whyle has the chance to step in as the replacement for departed free agent Austin Hooper. ... Sixth-round pick Jaelyn Duncan, a tackle out of Maryland, is the only one of the later selections who does not have an immediate path to the field. His college career suggests he needs a little time to develop but that the wait could be worth it. ... Seventh-round pick Colton Dowell is a homegrown product who grew up in nearby Lebanon and played college football at Tennessee-Martin. He did not put up huge numbers for most of his college career, but played best against the best competition, particularly a contest last fall against the University of Tennessee.
No one would say the Tennessee Titans' selection of Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft (11th overall) was a reach. The 6-foot-4, 315-pound All-American was widely considered to be among this year's top 10 prospects. However, pre-draft analysis included concern about his short arms, similar to what happened a year ago with cornerback Roger McCreary. The Titans selected McCreary in the second round, and he was one of their most consistent performers throughout the 2022 season. ... Skoronski was the first of six picks Tennessee made in this year's draft. All six were on offense, which is a franchise first. ... For the second year in a row, the Titans drafted someone they hope will be their quarterback of the future, Will Levis of Kentucky. Levis unexpectedly dropped out of the first round, and his selection -- a year after Malik Willis was picked in the third round -- was not universally celebrated by the fan base. ... To get Levis, the Titans traded up from the No. 41 overall pick to No. 35. By the time they made their third pick, a host of notable wide receivers were chosen, and if there is one position at which this team needed some immediate help, it was wide receiver. ... Tennessee finally selected a receiver in the seventh round. They made Colton Dowell of Tennessee-Martin their final pick (seventh round, 228 overall) and the 30th wide receiver overall selected. ... In his first draft as a general manager, Ran Carthon showed he was willing to be -- when possible -- aggressive. He also said he stuck to the team's draft board and that the focus on offense was not intentional.

Ole Miss head coach Kermit Davis kicks it old school for game-day-eve, opposing-team scouts.Rather than simply watch the film and break down an opponent's strengths and weaknesses, Davis puts the Rebels through a round of Jeopardy-style trivia, dividing his roster into two teams to to answer pertinent questions about the matchup ahead.Davis and the Rebels were fresh off a deep-dive into Chattanooga when the fifth-year Ole Miss head coach dialed into the Rebel Yell Hotline Monday night. Ole Miss (2-0, 0-0 SEC) hosts the Mocs (1-1, 0-0 SoCon) Tuesday at a 6:30 p.m. CT.The game will mark the seventh all-time showdown between Ole Miss and Chattanooga, and the first meeting between the teams since a 90-70 Ole Miss win in Davis' debut season in 2018.Ole Miss, following opening-week wins over Alcorn State and FAU, will likely still be without star second-year point guard Daeshun Ruffin. Ruffin missed the final month of last season due to a knee injury, and he's been recently sidelined with a minor bone bruise and missed the first two games.“I'm watching Florida Atlantic right now and they're down two to Florida with about six minutes to go in the first half,” Davis said. “Florida Atlantic is a good team; gonna be an NCAA Tournament team. You look at Alcorn State, that we beat, went to Wichita State and won by nine.“College basketball is amazing this year. A lot of good teams. We've got some work ahead of us for sure, but a good week for us to go 2-0.”Ole Miss football color analyst Harry Harrison also joined the show to break down all the latest with Lane Kiffin's program, including a 30-24 loss to Alabama over the weekend.Davis and Co., meanwhile, will play two games again this week. The Rebels are set to welcome Tennessee-Martin to town Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.“We're offensive rebounding at a really high clip right now,” Davis said. “I thought we moved the ball (and) we got 80 points against a good defensive team (in FAU).“I thought we played really well in the second half against Alcorn State. I thought we played well when Matt Murrell maybe didn't have his best game. He play-maked well.
