Rachael discusses her battle with childhood obesity, genetic obesity, PCOS, ADHD, and a binge eating disorder that started at the age of 8. She shares her testimony on how Mounjaro has completely changed her life for the better and improved her mental and physical health. Dr. Myra Ahmad is an obesity specialist and the Co-Founder & CEO of Mochi Health, a telehealth obesity practice. She graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine, UCSF Medical Center. In her career, Dr. Ahmad witnessed providers use shame when discussing a patient's hypertension, dismiss other medical concerns due to bias, and refuse to use safe and affordable medications in favor of "diet and exercise only" strategies. She felt that these providers didn't see the value in listening to patients. She is here today to discuss everything from study data on GLP1 trials to her position on compound pharmacies that produce Semaglutide and Tirzepatide for patients who cannot get insurance coverage or cannot afford the often $1000 + monthly cash pay price. Support the showKim Carlos @DMFKimonMounjaro on TikTokJernine Trott @TheeJernine on TikTokKat Carter @KatCarter7 on TikTokLydia Roberts @mounjaro_GLP_Help on TikTok

As a hospital medicine attending and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine, Dr. Ronen enjoys teaching and offering his unique perspectives knowing no one in medicine has the same training experience.During difficult discussions with patients' families, some of Dr. Ronen's many strengths are his candor and honesty. Knowing families will remember these conversations forever, he wants them to know he's listening and treats them as he would his own family.Hear more about how the hospital is different between the hours of 7pm and 7am, and don't miss our deep dive into which TV doctor Dr. Ronen would be, if he were one. We want you to get to know your doctor before meeting them in person because you're making a life changing decision and time is scarce. The more you can learn about who your doctor is before you meet them, the better that first meeting will be. When you head into an important appointment more informed and better educated, you are able to have a richer, more specific conversation about the procedures and treatments you're interested in. There's no substitute for an in-person appointment, but we hope this comes close.Meet The Doctor is a production of The Axis. Depending on the data you look at, between 10 and 40 percent of people who get Covid will still have symptoms months later. For some, those symptoms will be modest. A cough, some fatigue. For others, they'll be life-altering: Debilitating brain fog. Exhaustion. Cardiovascular problems. Blood clotting. This is what we call long Covid. It's one term for a vast range of experiences, symptoms, outcomes. It's one term that may be hiding a vast range of maladies and causes. So what do we actually know about long Covid? What don't we know? And why don't we know more than we do?Dr. Lekshmi Santhosh is an assistant professor at UCSF Medical Center, and the founder and medical director of UCSF's long Covid and post-ICU clinic. Her clinic opened in May 2020 and was one of the first to focus on treating long Covid patients specifically. We discuss the wildly broad range of symptoms that can qualify as long Covid; the confusing overlaps between Covid symptoms and other diseases; whether age, race, sex and pre-existing conditions affect a person's chances of contracting long Covid; why it's so difficult to answer a seemingly simple question like, “How many people have gotten long Covid?”; what to make of a recent study that seemingly undermines the biological existence of long Covid; how worried we should be about correlations between Covid and medical disasters like heart attacks, strokes and abnormal blood clotting; and more.Mentioned:“Post–COVID Conditions Among Adult COVID-19 Survivors Aged 18–64 and ≥65 Years — United States, March 2020–November 2021” by Lara Bull-Otterson, Sarah Baca1, Sharon Saydah, Tegan K. — Wicca is a Nature worship that assumes that duality is complementary—not adversarial. Like other opposites, evil and good coexist; they define each other. While there are such things as evil spirits, the more we focus on positive energies and build our alliances with the Spirit realm, the stronger and more protected we become. In wholism, evil is the Shadow Power of good. It is seen as wounded or misguided energy that expresses itself as negativity, cruelty, fear, greed, war, and ignorance, which harms the greater good, such as fouling the water or clear-cutting a forest. For the most part, energy is neutral by nature and guided by intention. In other words, the assumption in Wicca is that we empower what we focus on.  Valeria Teles interviews Suzy Peltier  — the author of “Ancient Wisdom for Modern Needs: Discovering Taoist Wicca.” Suzy Peltier, also known as Lady Red Hawk, has served the Lord and Lady as well as the principle of holism for over thirty years as a certified massage therapist, hypnotherapist, Reiki master teacher, shaman, Interfaith minister, auxiliary chaplain for UCSF Medical Center, third-degree Wiccan high priestess, and founder of the neo-Wiccan tradition of Taoist Wicca. With a background in medical anthropology and a degree in holistic health, Suzy was intrigued by the use of ritual as an ancient healing tool. She wondered, How does ritual work? What makes this ancient art form so adaptable that it was used for healing, worldwide, for thousands of years—by cultures with very different belief systems? There had to be something practical about it, so why is it virtually absent from modern culture? She wondered how ritual works and if it could be used to address the epidemic of stress and other modern ills. Could ritual help restore the balance, belonging, and empowerment missing in our current cultural values? Twenty-six years ago, she gathered a few friends together to run a unique spiritual and social experiment to explore these questions. This experiment evolved into the practice of Taoist Wicca, with practitioners and small covens across the U.S., and an email Circle list, offering an extended Wiccan and Reiki community to people across the globe. She has written and hosted two internet radio shows. Spiritually Speaking: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Needs can be found on voiceamerica.com/show/2033/spiritually-speaking and Hidden Connections: Exploring the Body/Mind/Spirit Complex produced by elevatedradiofm.com is archived on suzypeltier.com.
