In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with the CEO of Hughes Integrated, Rob Hughes.Rob started the conversation by highlighting a common issue many businesses grapple with - ineffective marketing strategies and wasteful spending. He likened this to branding cattle with multiple branding irons, leading to confusion rather than clarity.Instead of this scattered approach, Rob advocates for a relationship-first strategy. This method focuses on connecting with the audience and nurturing that relationship rather than bombarding them with mixed messages.Rob also shared another case study involving a local luxury outdoor living space installer, ABC Landscaping. Their name was not aligned with their services, confusing potential clients. By pivoting their messaging to focus on their ideal audience, ABC Landscaping saw a significant increase in qualified leads.Rob currently leads and manages a growing team at Hughes Integrated, consisting of six internal staff members and a nationwide network of contractors. He emphasizes that they are looking for organizations that value win-win-win relationships, indicating a bright future for Hughes Integrated.Key Points from the Episode:Ineffective marketing strategies and wasteful spendingRelationship-first approach to marketingSuccess story with Sea Foam and ABC LandscapingImportance of storytelling in marketingRob's background in executive coaching and transition to marketing consultancyDiscovery of Donald Miller's story-based frameworkDisruption of in-person coaching due to COVID-19About Rob Hughes:Rob Hughes, a former vice president of sales and marketing in the manufacturing industry, transitioned his expertise into becoming a renowned executive coach for business owners and entrepreneurs throughout North America. This week joining Hassan in the podcast studio is a real carp fishing character, Birmingham's finest and a man who has carved out an incredible media career in the industry which started way back in the 1990's, its none other than Jon “Shoes” Jones. We all know carp fishing is full of characters and nothing goes to prove that more than this podcast. From his early years fishing the likes of Patshull Church Pool and Yateley Car Park Lake through to his modern day thoughts on media and rig safety, this podcast covers a huge spectrum of carp fishing and gives you a fascinating peak into the mind of “Shoes”.Starting his angling based in the West Midlands which was and still is home for Jon, he instantly found a real affinity for catching carp. Early highlights included catching “The Pet” from Farlow's the lakes biggest resident as well as capturing “The Baby Orange” from the iconic Yateley Car Park lake. Jon fondly recalls memories of sharing the banks with carp fishing legends such as Rob Maylin, Ritchie MacDonald and Terry Hearn. He also tells a number of tales about the “antics” which went on away from the lake including some seriously funny stories about a certain pub scene at the time.Jon talks about his introduction to working in the carp fishing industry which came from Rob Hughes. He worked with Rob producing photography and video as well as appearing on tv with him. This time was an incredible time for growth in the industry and as Jon's network grew his coverage and presence on the carp fishing scene was cemented. This led to him later talking up various freelance roles providing various forms of media content for leading companies in the industry. Jon recalls stories of his times away and at home fishing and working with the likes of Steve Briggs, Ian Russell and Simon Crow to name but a few. It's a great look at how far he himself and the industry has come.Always know for thinking outside the box Jon shares his thoughts on carp fishing including experimentation and rig thoughts. He talks a great deal about being a responsible angler and rig safety which he feels isn't always of paramount importance in the modern scene. There's a very interesting look at his use of washed out baits and how this led him to great success on the infamous Birchgrove. Finally, Jon talks about modern day media and how the industry has changes especially for someone wanting to work within the industry. The podcast is an eye opening look at carp fishing from both inside and outside the industry. Whether you are after product development insight, baiting strategies or reminiscing about historic captures Jon packs it all in this podcast and all in his own quirky insightful manner.

EPISODE 19 - Rob Hughes Stand-up comedian Rob Hughes joins me as CO-HOST WITH THE M0-HOST for the final episode of season one! We break some fake news headlines, get to grips with the 'glamour' of being a comedian, and Rob tells us what its like to (literally) bring up the next generation of funny people. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/most-best-podcast/message
This next episode of our canter through Bowie’s life sees our glamorous subject reclaim his title as a risk taker and - quite literally -an outsider artist with his 1995 dark masterpiece ‘Outside’. Funnily enough - Marc saw one of the 1995 tour dates ‘outside’... in an arena in the USA...as you will find out if you download and listen to this latest missive from the North of England. Also under the microscope is the scene of one of Bowie’s most infamous (and hilarious) on stage routines… and The Old Grey Whistle Test is revisited too. All courtesy of Rob Hughes and Marc Riley (Research, Delivery + Bumbling,) Howard Nock (Master Editor) and Jason Read (Visualisation). Please feel free to leave a review too. Thanks all! As Porter-Leath’s vice president of development, Rob Hughes has many responsibilities, ranging from planning the annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Festival to driving Toy Truck donations and assisting in a capital campaign for the organization’s Early Childhood Academy. A native Memphian, Hughes always knew he wanted to make an impact in children’s lives and envisioned a future career in law. After earning both his bachelor’s degree and MBA from Christian Brothers University, he realized a career in nonprofits was a fit. Hughes joined Porter-Leath in 2009 as development coordinator. He was promoted to development manager in 2010, development director in 2014 and, most recently, to vice president of development. His most important responsibility is funding programs and services for the 12,000 local children and families Porter-Leath serves.
Join Marc Riley and Rob Hughes as they rifle through the fascinating life of one of the greatest rock stars the world has ever known. Rob Hughes thought his kid was a genius--or, if not a genius, at least a very smart boy. Aaron was only five years old and already he could tie his shoes, count to 120, identify pictures of animals in books and recognize the constellation of Orion. Sure, he referred to it as `Oh-wyan,’ but he knew it when he saw it. Aaron was possessed of a powerful imagination, one which was sometimes frustrating to Rob, particularly when it clashed with reality as he knew it. But imagination and belief can be a powerful thing. Civilizations have risen and fallen due to it. Rob Hughes is about to learn a few lessons about the power of belief, and of the thing that feeds on it, stalking the woods near his in-laws' farm. This recorded live reading was captured on August 21, 2015, during a signing event at the Book Mart & Cafe in downtown Starkville, MS.
Following Jesus' crucifixion through readings, worship and prayer, the Good Friday service is lead by Rob Hughes. Clip 1: A short news-style clip with comments from a Roman Centurion. Some parts of this clip may not be suitable for younger viewers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1lOG-PwAns Clip 2: Who is God? This clip explains why Jesus was crucified. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YNmwY4ETvA Discover more of our sermons from Easter this year by clicking here.
Week 5 of the Things That Make You Go 'Hmmm' sermon series, where this week Rob Hughes looks at why God allows suffering. The sermon builds from a short clip where Stephen Fry is interviewed for the show 'The Meaning Of Life', where he shares his views on Atheism. Listen to the sermon, and hear the answer to the question: "Why does God allow suffering?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-suvkwNYSQo Rob's sermon also ended by listening to a short song on the same theme: "Trust in You" by Lauren Diagle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv-SXz_exKE
