From a life of alcohol/drug addition, Bi-Polar disorder, sexual abuse (tigger warning, Skip shares his experience of being sexually assaulted), and trauma to thriving and as an LGBTQIA+ community member, helping others heal and realizing he has so much more life to live. For over a decade, Skip has been defying these diagnoses and helping musicians and performing artists who have lost their technical skills, disconnected from their inner music, and whose spark of creativity has gone dark. "Is it possible for me to live my life the way I want to"? "Of course, of course"!“Is is possible for me to be who I want to be”? There are so many truth bombs dropped in this episode!“I live for creating inclusion. I love the feeling of helping people know that they have a place, they are enough and they are seen”. Esther shares her journey from “taking people's place at the table away”. This is another toxic societal and religious construct that work on negating our ability to show up 100% yourself. As a transgendered woman Esther has made it her mission to sharing her journey of transitioning with you and me in the hopes to empower other trans individuals to show up as 100% themselves. As a California transplant from Walla Walla, Washington, she gives her heart and soul to expanding inclusion in the world, pressing to create more room at the table of life.In this episode Esther and I explore the “cost of visibility” and shares her journey of being her true self as she navigates her employment as an ordained pastoral minister in the protestant Christian church, navigating the winding journey or marriage, family, friends and her role within and outside of her church community.Esther has also authored a book about keeping secrets, and earning a master's degree in leadership from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena. She currently works as a Trainee Marriage and Family Therapist at The LGBTQ Center of the Desert in Palm Springs, while pursuing a master's degree at Alliant International University. She also produces and hosts the podcast Transgender Woman Talking. If you know anyone who is struggling, has questions or just needs to know they are not in their transition alone, please share this podcast with them.
✨Synchronicity is a beautiful thing. ✨Rory and I met less than a month ago and we just hit it off. We were both selected to be Media Ambassadors for the AIDS/Lifecycle. After I heard part of Rory's story I knew I wanted to have him on this show. It was friends at first sight for me.In this episode Rory takes us on his courageous journey of what it has meant for him to peel off the layers of coming out in highly conservative community, breaking free from a crystal meth addiction, depression & anxiety, becoming HIV positive, hitting rock bottom and what it was like to be finally feel seen and heard by himself and his community. Rory Slikker (he/him) is a Clinical Outreach Specialist for a LGBTQIA+ affirming addiction treatment center called Michael's House in Palm Springs, CA. Born and raised in the small, agricultural, conservative town of Lompoc, CA, Rory's journey to radical visibility began with VERY humble beginnings. A troubled home-life, high school death threats, HIV, and addiction, taught Rory how to survive first, and live authentically second.Today, Rory is a sober man and activist that uses his story to help others struggling with addiction, mental health, and internalized homophobia. He is the co-founder of the LGBTQ Association for Addiction and Mental Health Professionals, a Media Ambassador and participant of the AIDS/LifeCycle, and sits on half-a-dozen committees responsible for bringing sober conferences to Southern California.
You are going to want to sing along! Well if you're old school like me!Laughter, Joy, Revelation and Inspiration are the words to describe this episode of Road to Radical Visibility.Spoiler alert! Live music is played and I cried! I know a real shocker. Kevin plays a song that reminds me so much of my dad, one of his favorites. I remember spinning to this very song with my dad. It was fuc*”n remarkable. It touched my soul. Music has played such a HUGE role in my life. Kevin's story resonates with me on so many deep levels. He shares the most pivotal times in his life that created the curiosity for music and ultimately sparked his journey and finally creating a career in music and editing. Kevin has provided audio production and voice-over services. Kevin specializes in podcast production, audio editing, music placement, and more. From exclusively playing gigs in LA to moving to Miami where he experienced burnout from gigs and pivoted (like so many others) due to Covid and now produces some of the biggest podcasts in the country. Kevin shares how over and over again he listened to his intuition to “dabble” in other areas where he could bring in the income he wanted and needed. He dared to follow his, “Wouldn't it be a dream come true if I could” notions. It was such a fun time interviewing my podcast editor, Kevin Laurence Hirshorn. For nearly a decade, He currently produces/edits several successful podcasts, one of which is the #1 Global Financial Technology series "Breaking Banks," reaching over 7 million listeners in nearly 180 countries.I would love to hear what you thought of this episode.Did you sing along? Stop taking "full responsibility" for everything that is happening or has happened in your life. The self-help/personal development world is constantly telling you that you are the reason you can't manifest, you continue in the same patterns and aren't accomplishing your goals. This keeps you in the self-shaming spiral that is NOT helpful.I am here to tell you that it's not ALL your fault. What many personal development experts forget to mention is that everything in your world has been co-created. Co-creation informs us of our thoughts, feelings and actions in every part of your life. This realization can be both freeing and terrifying when you start to see how much you have been influenced by culture to form your identity and the way you interact in the world.Co-creation has played a role in:→The way you perceive, interact and feel about places & things,→The way you perceive, interact and feel about others and,→MOST importantly how you perceive, interact and feel about yourself. The goal of this episode is to FREE you from:

This is what can happen when you follow your “hell yes” and go to a foreign country to meet up with people you barely even know for a week and have ultimate trust in yourself. Pure f'in goodness! As I walked out to the edge of the rocks at low tide I realized that I was here for more than just a working vacation. I had never felt so connected to myself or my environment as I did in that moment.Yes, It has been a goal to create income while I am traveling around the world. But this trip turned out to be so much more. There were moments of adventure, connection with myself, relaxation and times of deep reflection and insight.A quick note: This episode is brought to you by Unleashed 100%U - the place where people throw away the mask and start living full out - No Shame or Guilt Needed. Creating the freedom to experience their life exactly the way they want to. In this episode of Road to Radical Visibility I share 5 ah-ha moments that have shifted the way I view myself and how I can create even more freedom in allowing myself to experience my life exactly the way I want to.Here they are:✨Environment plays a major role in energy exchange.✨I no longer need to fear the way I used to be affected by others.✨Channeling is everything for me.✨Being open is the answer.✨It's time to blow some shi8 up!With each of these ah-has the one question that kept popping up for me was, how do I hold onto these feelings and way of being once I get back home? I answer that question with each of these ah-has.Which of these ah-has spoke to you? What would it feel like to know exactly what you want without doubt? What would you say “HELL YES” to?My friend, I believe it is time for you to find out. Whether you are struggling to see yourself in your own life, uncertain of what you really desire or how you want to experience your life, I'm here to help. I'd love to chat with you. This episode is brought to you by Unleashed 100%U - the place where people throw away the mask and start living full out - No Shame or Guilt Needed. “Life is just derailing me right now”, she said. Her voice began to tremble as she left me this message. I could feel her pain, self-doubt and desire for peace and calm.Often times it can feel like life is “derailing” you.The chaos of the world keeps coming at you. Sometimes like little annoyances and other times like big wind gusts that just keep knocking you over. “When will it stop?” you ask yourself. All the while knowing that it isn't going to stop. The chaos of the outside world will continue to spin and churn. But you just keep pushing through hoping for the day you can feel just a little bit of respite, a little taste of joy. Unfortunately, when we get that little taste we are so overjoyed we feel like we “have arrived” and as quickly as it came it is gone and you are caught up in “it all” again. In this episode of Road to Radical Visibility I want to help you create the ability to experience the calm, joy, happiness, (or any other feelings you want to be having) and security within. I have come up with 5 ways to find and stay in your own truth in order to generate these feelings from within. The likelihood of you finding lasting safety outside of yourself is slim. The good news is that you can find it from within. You've been taught to react to your environment in order to:✓Keep the peace,✓Make sure you don't offend anyone, or ✓take responsibility for something you have no control over, ✓most importantly keep yourself safe (this is done by the body, not the mind) and, ✓ exhausted from trying to control everything around you.In order to create the feeling of safety and security you need to go within and reconnect with what I call the “True Self”. Dive down into the subconscious while, reducing the nervous systems response and teaching the body it is safe to do something different. This is not a one off activity and when you commit to your own wellbeing you will experience a new way of experiencing your life. It's time to break free my friend! When used consistently these 5 things will create a new neurological pathway that overtime will allow you to no longer be affected by the chaos of the external world. Are you ready to:

Let's get this out of the way. ✅No, you didn't say to much, feel to much, expose too much! You're probably not sliding back into your old patterns. It just feels like it. You're not alone. Here are some of the things I hear all of the time...."I feel like I am going backwards.""What was I thinking?""Did I just expose too much?""Why am I so emotional, I just had a really good day?""I was on a high and now I feel like I am crashing."All of these statements/questions are followed with a bigger question.....Why do I feel this way? Why is this happening? We often swim around in the "pool of why" in an attempt to cognitively get out of the feelings we don't want to feel. Like shame, judgement, self-doubt, embarrassment, and fear. If you are having these feelings and feeling stuck, I'm here. For now, just know it's okay, you're okay. I'm here to tell you, you may not be going backwards at all. You may not be "failing" and falling back into your old patterns. You probably aren't being more emotional because you are "weak, too sensitive or just lacking in confidence". The truth of it is, is that you may be suffering from either a vulnerability hangover or an emotional hangover. They are very similar and often disguised as feeling dysfunctional, off, more emotional, stuck, vulnerable and wanting to go back into your shell. Yes, this applies to both people who are "introverts and extroverts". (more on that topic later). PLEASE, don't. Stay present with yourself, don't shove the feelings down or away. Here's the good news. We don't need to fully immerse ourselves into these emotions to shift how we are thinking, feeling or being. There is a way to quickly move through with full awareness and not have these emotions "keep us down" for any longer than you want. In this episode of Road to Radical Visibility I am sharing with you:1. The difference between a vulnerability hangover and energy hangover2. How to recognize the difference between the two3. Actions you can take to move through each typeand4. A short visualization to quickly shift and create more of the feeling you want. By the end of this episode you will have:❤️more self-compassion✨more awareness and hopeand,
HOLY Shizzzz! The energy of this episode is so deep, real and raw. My guest Erica Hurtubiese (mom, athlete, coach, lover of sand and coffee) shares her journey as a caregiver, moving through the death of her husband and the process that comes after, fighting for her own path, when with the people around did not agree or even respect her role, and what she did to find the courage to redefine herself and life exactly the way she wanted to.From:"We're breathing, we're good. My life didn't have purpose by any means it was pure survivorship, which then caused me to create so many beliefs in my life that I can see now weren't true. My life was so ridiculously out of control emotionally".To:"I am finding so much fun now, I am so much fun! Doing things for me, by me. I am no longer dependent on anyone else to make me feel a certain way."From the loss of her husband, then the trauma of COVID (which was immediately after losing her husband), and engaging in relationships that caused her to lose herself to unworthiness. She shares her experiences of caregiving for her husband and how it brought her to the brink of a breakdown, the moment she noticed that she needed to make a shift and the intentional decisions that ultimately helped her love herself. Erica steps into the place of true vulnerability with raw and real thoughts, feelings and experiences in this episode. Make sure you have some tissue ready you just might need it. I know you are going to love it!I guarantee that you will walk away knowing and feeling:❤️ like you are not alone
Are you ready to let go of: - the fear of discomfort - the fear of upsetting other people or - the feeling of constant self-betrayal to keep the peace, make others feel better or because that's "what you were born to do". "I realized that I was very comfortable in my life, but deeply unhappy and something had to change. I needed to change something so that I wasn't constantly betraying myself and feeling stuck and unhappy". My guest Gin Walker (copywriter, messaging coach, professional stage actor and soul explorer) shares how her pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago helped her find the strength to create the courage and self-trust to return back to her truest self. (spoiler alert, it was inside of her all along, she just needed to listen). "I was very much aware I would have to move through this dark night of the soul to heal and let go". This episode of Road to Radical Visibility Show/Podcast is overflowing with:
If you have found yourself sacrificing yourself for the wellbeing of others (hello holiday season and beyond), in situations you really have no desire to be in and afraid to say or do, and/or have found yourself in the habit of “faking it” because of other peoples expectations & beliefs AND want to break free, this episode of Road to Radical Visibility is for you!Instead of saying “no I can't” it is time to say, actually, yes I can. I can chose me! Now is the perfect time to free yourself! Why?There is a New Moon today. This new moon inspires us to “**say yes to experiences and learning journeys that strengthen our capacity to have faith in ourselves, to be pioneers, to take our own direction in life, and inspire others with our example. And support our capacity to be courageous and bold”, according to **Moonomens.com.We often associate the word "no" with setting a boundary or something we have to say to make a stand, hold our ground or stand up for ourselves. But what if the word "yes" allowed you to do these things and opened up to a whole new way of honoring yourself.Ultimately, leading you to a new way of being and experiencing every situation in your life? The holidays (and beyond) can be a really triggering time for many. You think you “have to”:→ Go someplace you really don't want to go.→Be surrounded by people who you may not really like, enjoy being around, have to fake a smile, happiness or a myriad of other emotions.→Act like you didn't experience trauma at the place you are in or with people you're surrounded by because “That's not what we do, or how you act”. You're told to put your feelings, needs and healing aside just one more time just to hold onto the disfunction of the system.Well I'm proposing that you don't need to do any of the above if you don't want to! Yep, I said it. You have a choice and in todays episode I am going to lead you through a quick 3 step process for you to say yes to yourself and give your body a chance to know it is safe to do so.In this episode I'll:✓ Explain why it can feel like such a struggle to do be who you want, do what you want and often struggle to listen and follow your what you truly want.✓ Help you say "yes" to yourself and change the way you experience the upcoming holiday and your whole life.✓ Empower you with choice and the realization that “Yes, you can!”P.S. Do you find yourself in cycle of self-sabotage more often than you want to be?Have you said to yourself recently, "why am I back here again"?orSeriously, I am tired of ___________ happening to me? You've tried to use your brain to convince yourself to do or not do something. You repeat "I can do this, I don't need that to feel okay, I am (you fill in the blank) or even Come on, you go this" and it may work for a minute but then you find yourself returning to the same old pattern feeling the same way you don't want to feel. Beating up on yourself for not being "able to be strong enough, good enough, smart enough". orIf you're anything like I was....it sounded more like. Seriously you have PhD education, a Master's and Bachelor's degrees for goodness sake, and you can't figure this out! (Enter in the spiral of shame, guilt just one more time.)It's time for you to release your old patterns for good! Yes, it is possible! It wasn't until I started developing self-sabotage interrupters that ACTUALLY worked was I able to finally be free. If you are ready to stop the self-sabotage then this episode of Road to Radical Visibility is for you! In this episode I am sharing the one thing that you may not be aware of that keeps you from releasing your old patterns for good and experiencing your life exactly the way that you want to. For years I thought my mind controlled my body. The freedom didn't happen until I recognized that my body was just (if not more, in my opinion) as important as my mind. It was the combination of my mind and body working together that equaled the freedom (this is me saying bye bye
When was the last time you took a moment to rest? I mean really rest. Was it when your body finally told you...."ummmm I'm going to take the time to rest whether you want to or not".
Do you feel like the harder you work for something the more worthy you are to have it? Or the more worthy you are because you did the "hard thing"? (This was one of mine.)Do you find yourself overcomplicating things and decisions that used to feel easy and simple feel hard or annoying? If you're like "Rachel, get out of my head" then I this episode of Road to Radical Visibility is for you. It's time to create some real and sustainable relief, if you choose .I'm Rachel Freemon Sowers also known as the breakthrough bi$ch because I am passionate about helping people in the LGBTQ+ and female communities break free from the social constructs, beliefs, opinions that have been holding you back from creating and experiencing your life exactly the way that you want to. This episode came about because so many of my clients I love to work with struggle with this very thing. They become consumed with:
How do you feel when you "fall off track" ?Do any of these thoughts sound familiar? What is wrong with me?I should have......I could have.....Why did I........It's going to take a lot to........Here I am again..........Why can't I......Down the rabbit hole of shame and guilt (although you may not notice it as such because you're trying to figure out how to fix it). But instead of "fixing it" you keep repeating the same pattern. Don't worry you are not the only one who does. Shocker....I still have them sometimes, way less than before but I am human just like you. I just have more tools and now I want to give them to you. In this episode I share my journey of "falling off track" in my health journey to lose weight and return to my athletic self and how I quickly recalibrated so that I can be, feel and experience my life the way I want!Yep, it's easy to criticize ourselves AND it can feel just as easy to listen and give ourselves the space to quickly shift into feeling good again. I'll let you in on a secret, the foundational tools are the same and once you learn how to use them in one area of your life you can use them in ALL the areas of your life. What part of this episode rang true for you? How are you planning on getting back on track without shame or guilt?I would love to hear in the comments below. This episode of Road to Radical Visibility I share with you how Negative thoughts, feelings and energy are affecting your ability be who you want to be and live and experience life the way you want to. Negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are NOT helpful when they are present the majority of the time. Think back, how many times do you have a negative thought in your mind and it affects that way your body feels? Or maybe you don't feel anything in your body? In both cases this video is for you. One minute you're happy and the next you're feeling all of the feels. (You know the ones you don't want to feel). This rollercoaster of emotion takes a toll on your body. Yep, it does! Not convinced or just unsure if it is, then you'll want to stick around. In this episode, I share with you exactly how to tell, release and shift the negativity that is trapped in your body. Here is what I cover: 3 Signs that you have negative energy in your body3 Ways to Release negative energy from your body3 Ways you can tell when negative energy has left your bodyYou're already probably feeling the effects of the negative energy that is stored in your body you just may not know why it's there or how to release it in a healthy way. If you don't know what to release or how to release the negativity you will often do more harm than good when trying to avoid or get rid of the negative feelings in the body. (This looks like numbing out, constantly day dreaming, not paying attention, or saying "it is what it is" all of the time). You don't need to go the extreme to feel better, I promise you that! There is a better way and I want to share it with you.Negativity that is stored in the body plays a major role in you feeling the freedom and confidence to be 100% you 100% of the time without shame or guilt. It's a process AND it doesn't have to take a long time. It just takes a willingness to explore and un-attach from what you know and play with the possibility that you can be, feel and have exactly what you want in life. This episode is JAMMED PACKED with so much goodness.
How often do you find yourself in a spiral of negative thinking? Do your negative thoughts spiral out of control when you:→ don't accomplish/meet a goal something, → make a mistake (this looks like being hard on yourself) or constant berating that happens when you feel like you haven't done enough, didn't give enough, cared enough...okay basically all the "enoughs"? but wait there's more.....Then you go down even further into the rabbit hole of shame, self-judgement and you hear yourself say one more time, "how many times am I going to have to feel like this, learn this lesson, feel this pain?"Then this episode and radical visibility are for you! In this episode I share with you:✅ 3 most common negative thinking cycles, ✅ 3 realizations that will redefine your realityand ✅ 3 actions that will bounce you out of the negative thoughts/feelings and bring you back to strength, confidence and knowing. Finally, at 50 I found my twin! "Twin win!", as Lyndsay and Leslie (on HGTV Unsellable Houses ) would say, twin, win! This episode will go down as one of my all-time favorites so far. "I thought my partner put a video of me on TikTok (TikTok) without me knowing"!
Has your body been telling you “it's time for a change”? Feeling tired, aches and pains, gut issues and decreased energy, happiness, and joy? You know that you need to make a change but you're not sure where to start? Maybe it is time to detox, the right way! There is so much information about how to detox. Take this powder, drink the drink, take this pill. Sure it may work but the moment you go back to "real life" you gain the weight back plus some. Believe me, I know, I have done it over and over again. Until...I finally figured out that eating whole foods was the only sustainable way for me to feel better. If your like, I have done that and I need a more healthy, sustainable way to feel better then I empower you to check out the 13-Day Gut Detox. Here's the link: http://731fuelforfatloss.refr.cc/rachelfreemonsowers6 months ago I weighed 252 and was looking for a way to start releasing weight. I had always been in fitness however over the last several years life happened and I put my physical health on the back burner. (please tell me I am not the only one who has done this). I also had a big goal. To ride 545 miles over 7 days on the Aids/LifeCycle Ride to honor my dad Jim Freemon. I knew I would be able to do it with all of this weight on me. If you want to watch my journey head on over to channel. Simone's 13-Day Gut Detox was the "gateway" I needed to bring me back to my athletic way of being at the age of 50! Yep, you read that right 50! And I did just that. Over the 13 days, I lost 7 pounds. I learned how to give my body what it was craving ----whole foods, movement, and a whole lot of love....from me. ❤️Is your body ready to feel more love from you?
I didn't know what it would feel like to be surrounded by 2600+ people who accepted you for who you are, celebrate you no matter if you rode every mile or not, and treated you like you belonged at every breakfast, lunch, and dinner table. I mean I had dreamed of a place like this but never experienced it before until I decided to put it all out on the line and attempt to ride 545 miles over 7 days. It was the illusive experience I had been searching for - like that rainbow
If you have been struggling to maintain your motivation around the things you really want to do and the person you want to be then this episode is for you! This is part two of a series where I talk about the two types of imposter syndrome that are sabotaging your ability to sustain motivation and reach your goals what ever they maybe. Oh they are can keep you from being 100% you 100% of the time no shame or guilt needed.Creating sustainable motivation has been on my mind . Several of you have been wanting to know how I have continued to train for the Aids/Lifecycle ride, continue to create a thriving business even when things get hard and how I maintain being 100% myself 100% of the time without shame or guilt. Identifying these two types of imposter syndrome has helped me and my clients have the life we have always dreamed of. I won't lie, it takes some deep diving into the truest parts of you, shedding off the parts that were never yours and creating a new reality and identity through self-compassion, gratitude and courage. The two types are:INE - I am not enoughINA - I am not alignedIf you want more details about these check out the last episode: (put link to last episode here). These two types of imposter syndrome cannot be dealt with in the same way. In this episode I will lead you through a series of questions that will allow you to quickly identify the root and shift the mind and body to a new experience and way of reacting to the initial feelings caused by these two types of imposter syndrome.
