Before Jim Caviezel played Jesus in the film The Passion of the Christ, director Mel Gibson warned that the role would be extremely difficult and could negatively impact his career in Hollywood. It's a movie that was seemingly made for the Lodgecast. It opened on July 4th, 2023, and has since grossed $170 million! The child trafficking sleeper hit of the summer called Sound of Freedom. Before we headed into this movie, we talked about our latest findings on Ballard and Caviezel. Then we joined a sold-out crowd for this 2-hour and 10-minute action movie. Is the movie really a MAGA Q-Anon adjacent piece of propaganda like the mainstream media is conveying it to be? Or is it merely an innocent revenge flick shining a light into the darkness of the global sex trafficking trade? We'll let you know everything we saw. The independent film, Sound of Freedom, that is based on the incredible true story of a former government agent turned vigilante, who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hundreds of children from human trafficking, will release in South African cinemas nationwide on Friday 18 August 2023. The film has been dubbed the “sleeper hit” of the year by critics internationally who did not foresee the remarkable success that it has achieved at the American and European box offices. During the weekend of 21 – 23 July, Sound of Freedom outperformed Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, according to Rotten Tomatoes, taking third place in earnings behind the “Barbenheimer” behemoth in America. In the weekend prior to that, it outgrossed Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Sound of Freedom is based on the real story of Tim Ballard, a former U.S. Department for Homeland Security agent who conducts sting operations to rescue a young brother and sister from human trafficking in Colombia. Jim Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in Mel Gibson's 2004 movie, “The Passion of the Christ,” plays Ballard in the movie. The film's production house, Angel Studios launched an unconventional, grassroots “Pay it Forward” initiative to help people get to cinemas to see the film, and help spread awareness for the cause globally. This initiative will be running in South Africa. Caviezel explained the intent behind the call to action at the end of the trailer for the film, and at the end of the film is to help people "hear the story" of trafficking children. "Our goal is to inspire two million people to attend the film's opening weekend to represent the two million trafficked children around the world," he said. “Angel Studios set up a pay it forward program where you can pay for someone else's ticket who might not otherwise see it. If the ticket price is preventing you from attending, claim your free ticket." So far the two million goal has been exceeded and is on four million and counting. The film's South African distributor, Gravel Road Distribution Group, have set a target to raise 10,000 tickets from everyday South Africans and corporates, for those who cannot afford to see the film in cinemas, through their #PayItForwardAngels campaign. As the population dynamics and circumstances are somewhat different to the USA, some of the funds raised will also go towards covering the cost of transport to get certain communities to and from the cinemas. Jim Caviezel stars in this based on a true story movie with an important message, Sound Of Freedom. It helps bring awareness to the evil that is human trafficking, particularly child trafficking. Caviezel plays Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent, who first started out arresting child traffickers. Then he shifted his focus to also saving the victims of child trafficking, first with Homeland Security, then in the private sector. This movie tells that story, including one mission to save a little girl at the request of her little brother. This is a gut-wrenching movie that you, and anyone you know, should see. Tennessee's 44th House District Representative William Lamberth (R) wrote on Twitter Saturday: "I am thankful to the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals for confirming what Tennesseans already know: Children cannot give consent to experimental medical procedures or drugs that destroy their healthy bodies," The Tennessee law now in effect, at least temporarily, prohibits surgical procedures and administration of hormones or puberty blockers for the purpose of gender transition, as Reason explains. Judge Thapar joined Sutton, concluding that the lower court had wrongly stopped the law's implementation. Judge White delivered a separate opinion concurring in part and dissenting in part. The ban, originally set to take effect July 1, will now take effect immediately. The ban was held up when a lower court sided with the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee. ACLU-TN argued that the law interfered with parental rights and was unconstitutional, as The Hill reported. This is the first federal court to allow such a ban, with other courts unanimously blocking similar bans in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Indiana, and Kentucky, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee. As part of its “Harm Reduction Program,” the Multnomah County Health Department announced Friday that drug paraphernalia will be offered to those using fentanyl and other hard drugs, KOIN 6 reported. The rise of fentanyl has decreased the need for needle-focused “harm reduction” services, Department spokeswoman Sarah Dean told the Willamette Week. Since fentanyl is smoked rather than injected, clinic visits have dropped 60% since 2019, Dean said. The program is backed by Multnomah County’s Public Health Director, Jessica Guernsey, who says, “The new part of the program is that we’re adding supplies for people who smoke drugs.” Others are not happy with the move. “This misguided approach also results in greater risk to public safety for those who simply want to enjoy our city without walking through a cloud of toxic smoke,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said. “Our community would benefit more from the County using its funding to urgently increase treatment and sobering facilities rather than actively enabling this deadly epidemic.” Dean countered the mayor’s statement by claiming providing drug paraphernalia does not increase drug use but encourages addicts to visit clinics where they can get access to fentanyl test strips and the overdose antidote, Narcan, KOIN 6 reported. The Oregon Legislative Assembly recently passed a bill decriminalizing the distribution of “drug paraphernalia” for harm reduction purposes, according to the Willamette Week. Similar programs have been launched in Washington and California. In New York City, vending machines with smoking kits and bubble pipes have recently been installed, the outlet reported. The first runner-up is Nathalie Mogbelzada, 26, from Amsterdam. The reigning Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel of Houston, Texas, was a special guest at the pageant. He makes history as the first transgender woman to win the national title. In 2018, Angele Ponce, Miss Universe Spain, was the first transgender to participate in the Miss Universe pageant. The program is backed by Multnomah County’s Public Health Director, Jessica Guernsey, who says, “The new part of the program is that we’re adding supplies for people who smoke drugs.” Others are not happy with the move. “This misguided approach also results in greater risk to public safety for those who simply want to enjoy our city without walking through a cloud of toxic smoke,” Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler said. “Our community would benefit more from the County using its funding to urgently increase treatment and sobering facilities rather than actively enabling this deadly epidemic.” Dean countered the mayor’s statement by claiming providing drug paraphernalia does not increase drug use but encourages addicts to visit clinics where they can get access to fentanyl test strips and the overdose antidote, Narcan, KOIN 6 reported. The Oregon Legislative Assembly recently passed a bill decriminalizing the distribution of “drug paraphernalia” for harm reduction purposes, according to the Willamette Week. Similar programs have been launched in Washington and California. In New York City, vending machines with smoking kits and bubble pipes have recently been installed, the outlet reported. Rikkie is 22 years old, a Dutch-Moluccan model and actress in Leusden. He will represent the Netherlands at the 2023 Miss Universe pageant in El Salvador. The first runner-up is Nathalie Mogbelzada, 26, from Amsterdam. The reigning Miss Universe, R’Bonney Gabriel of Houston, Texas, was a special guest at the pageant. He makes history as the first transgender woman to win the national title. In 2018, Angele Ponce, Miss Universe Spain, was the first transgender to participate in the Miss Universe pageant. The question of having a transgender competitor in the Miss Universe pageant goes back to 2012. That is when Trump owned it and he overturned a decision by the Miss Universe organization to disqualify a Canadian model. Jenna Talackova was not being allowed to compete because “she was not a naturally born female.” Trump bowed to the laws of Canada and allowed Jenna to compete. The LGBTQ community applauded Trump. Now he’s running against a very socially conservative Republican, Ron DeSantis, among others, and Trump has flipped on the issue. The Miss America pageant is also having its share of problems. Ever since former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson came out as super woke and joined the organization, internal battles have leaked into the press. One big issue is that when Carlson joined the organization in 2018, she made the decision to ban the swimsuit segment. The two incidents occurred the same day, the U.S. says, with the drones carrying out the strike after the interaction with Russian craft. "We have made it clear that we remain committed to the defeat of ISIS throughout the region," said CENTCOM commander Gen. Michael Kurilla. "ISIS remains a threat, not only to the region but well beyond." CENTCOM clarified that there were no indications that any civilians were killed in the strike, but the U.S. and allies were assessing reports of a civilian injury. The U.S. and allied forces in the region have carried out a consistent campaign against remaining ISIS leaders operating in Syria. "This is the second instance of dangerous behaviors by Russian pilots within the past 24 hours, with the first happening Wednesday at approximately 10:40 a.m. local time," he added. The story depicted in the film is of Ballard, played by Caviezel, rescuing children. After much strife with working in the US government, he bumps up against bureaucracy in his position as an agent. He had to quit his job to rescue the kids in the film and did so in reality as well. This was the beginning of OUR as a non-government organization. The movie focuses on Ballard's mission to save the two children and reunite a family torn apart by child sex trafficking. At the end of the movie, Caviezel appears on screen with a special message to share and urges people to "pay it forward" and donate to allow others to see the film. I'm Adam McManus.  (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Samuel Adams: “Let His kingdom come!” On this day in history, 247 years ago, the United States Declaration of Independence was approved by the Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia.   Largely due to the tireless work of Samuel Adams, who was successful in lobbying seven of the 13 colonies to endorse the plan, independence was made possible for the United States of America in 1776.   Upon the signing of the Declaration, Adams declared, “We have this day restored the Sovereign to Whom all men ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven and from the rising to the setting sun, let His kingdom come.” Chinese Communists fine pastor $55,000 The Chinese Communists fined Pastor Yang Xibo and his wife, Wang Xiaofei $55,000 for refusing to close the church they lead.   Pastor Xibo, a fourth generation pastor, leads Xunsiding Church,  the largest house church in Xiamen province. The pastor and his wife steadfastly refuse to pay the fine. On social media, he wrote, “Thank God for allowing us to have a part in His affliction, and especially thankful that on Earth we have no property for the court-enforced implementation, which is definitely a great grace of God.” The communist authorities have been raiding the church meetings since 2019, demolishing private property and forcing members to send their children to public schools, according to China Aid.com.  Pray for more freedom for churches and homeschooling families in China.  The good and the bad of “Pride” month Pride month is over, thankfully. And it does appear that the proudest of the proud were humbled a bit last month, after the fall out with Budweiser and Target. On June 2nd of this year, Newsweek reported that The North Face, Lego, and Miller Lite had not yet carried “supportive messages” as they did on June 1st of 2022. Plus, only Kohl's and PetSmart had posted Pride Month content. While some businesses which affirmed sexual perversion faced boycotts, there was a significant uptick in social media followers of “Pride” accounts. Proverbs 11:2 says, “When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.” Elevation Church, which has female preachers, leaves Southern Baptists Another liberal church that promotes women preachers has left the Southern Baptist Convention.   With a reported 26,000 congregants, Elevation Church, led by Stephen Furtick, a popular singer, is the seventh largest church in America. The letter posted on BaptistPress.com gave no reasons for the separation. This follows the ouster of the second largest church in America, California-based Saddleback Church, last month.  Saddleback promoted female pastors. The delegates voted 9,437-1,212 to reject the appeal put forward by Founding Pastor Rick Warren.  Deeds of the flesh across America The deeds of the flesh are evident which are hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath … envy, murders. (Galatians 5:19-21) Is this sinful anger and outbursts of wrath on the rise in the U.S.? There were at least six mass shootings over the weekend across the country.  In Baltimore, Maryland, 2 are dead and 28 wounded and, at least, 9 wounded in a Wichita, Kansas nightclub. A study by Northeastern University and the Associated Press indicates record numbers of incidents and victims in these mass killings this year, especially over the last two months. America's $851 billion debt increase The U.S. National Debt spiked by $851 billion in a single month!  That's the largest single month increase since the Trump years. Currently, the World Population Review places the U.S. as the 12th highest debtor nation in the world by Debt-to-GDP ratio, next to Venezuela, Sudan, Libya, Portugal, Singapore, and Bahrain.  Inflated stock prices of Apple and Tesla Are these stocks way overpriced? Apple Computer's stock has hit $3 trillion market cap with stock prices around $194 — a 5-fold increase in just four years. And that would be a 3 fold increase on stock price-to-sales ratio over the historical average. The depths of depravity of human sin are never more blatantly on display than in the horrors of human trafficking. Jim Caviezel's latest project, The Sound of Freedom, is a harrowing but thrilling look at the fight against the global sex trafficking of children. Caviezel's intense but nuanced performance plays well into both the serious subject matter and the film's mainstream appeal. The film's spiritual relevance is increased by the choice to include not only protective fathers, but a repentant exploiter among its protagonists.  Though the film isn't about Hollywood, one of its best scenes offers what may as well be a portrayal of how the entertainment and modeling industries sexualize children. The impact is all the more unsettling for how subtly and tastefully the scene is handled. Though they praise the film, Thomas and James express some reservations about the “you must see this movie for the cause” style of promotion. Jim Caviezel was a rising star when he was cast in the role of a lifetime. Having starred, to reasonable acclaim, in the swashbuckling epic The Count of Monte Cristo, the devoutly Christian Caviezel was tapped by director Mel Gibson to play Jesus Christ in his controversial tale of the crucifixion, The Passion of the Christ. Wildly controversial, with it ranking as one of the bloodiest films ever made, it was a huge worldwide smash hit, grossing over $600 million worldwide on a $30 million budget. But, in the years since, Caviezel struggled to escape typecasting, with him eventually landing the lead of the long-running Person of Interest for CBS. In recent years, Caviezel has been making headlines for all of the wrong reasons, such as his belief in the Qanon conspiracy theory adrenochrome, which posits that “Hollywood elites” and Democrats are harvesting the blood of children. YIKES.
