Joline volgde een koksopleiding in Ter Groene Poorte in Brugge en droomde van een carriere in fine dining. De realiteit is dat ze het zo naar haar zin had in een klassiek restaurant/feestzaal dat ze er lang bleef; tot ze kindjes kreeg. Dan werd de combo zwaar en volgde ze een lerarenopleiding en gaf ze kookles aan het CLW Oostkamp. Vader Kuijken werd na de oorlog gestraft. Hij verloor zijn baan en werd stofzuiger-verkoper. Een oom van Sigiswald was van bij het begin van de oorlog in Hilversum actief in het verzet. Hij werd in 1945 opgepakt en overleed in het concentratiekamp Sachsenhausen. Sigiswald Kuijken is de op één na jongste van 5 broers die elk heel wat bereikt hebben in hun leven. Lara Taveirne (1983) is schrijfster. Ze debuteerde in 2014 met de roman De kinderen van Calais; in 2024 verscheen Wolf, een bestseller over haar broer die op zijn 18de verdween en dood teruggevonden werd in een bos in Zweden, zijn dagboek op zijn lichaam. De heren van Osmium - de zwaarste podcast in het Nederlands - zijn graag op festivals. Zo'n samenkomst van gemêleerd publiek en uiteenlopende artiesten geeft altijd nieuwe inzichten over waar de metalscene op dit moment staat. Al lange tijd zijn Roadburn of Soulcrusher vaste prik en tegenwoordig worden zelfs buitenlandse festivals als Damnation of Rockstadt Extreme Fest bezocht en ontleed. Maar drie herfstfestivals uit het eigen festivallandschap werden tot voor kort over het hoofd gezien. Om dat goed te maken, bezoekt Osmium ze alle drie tussen twee afleveringen in. Het gaat om hardcorefestival Revolution Calling, vuig rockevenement Helldorado en The Rock Circus-light Sepulfest. Voor de hand liggende aspecten zoals sfeer, line-up en comfort worden gecontrasteerd, maar bovenal: welk festival grossiert in domheid? Een tweede pilaar van Osmium's firmament is natuurlijk intellectualisme. Daarom bespreken de babbelaars een wetenschappelijk artikel in het voornaamste economentijdschrift over smaakprojectie. Smaakprojectie? Ja, smaakprojectie. Oftewel: de mate waarin je overschat hoe andermans smaak lijkt op die van jezelf. Karel Cambien is bekend bij vrijwel elk West-Vlaamse familiebedrijf als de journalist en auteur met een bijzondere interesse in het verhaal van de mens achter elke ondernemer. Maar wat is het verhaal van de mens achter de journalist Karel Cambien? Ik moet bekennen dat ik -niettegenstaande ik Karel al 20 jaar ken- met open mond zat te luisteren naar zijn levensverhaal. Passeerden de revue: Frans (Sus) Verleyen, Bob Dylan, Oost-Europa, onze verstikkende bureaucratie, duurzaamheid, Adolf Hitler in Kortrijk, de eerste Vlaamse tennisfederatie (Wikings), de Olympische Spelen van 1972 (het bloedbad van München), Palestina, Willy Naessens, Filip Balcaen, en hoe de overheid onze maakbedrijven schandelijk in de steek heeft gelaten. Een boeiend portret van iemand die anderen zo vaak heeft geportretteerd.
Een weekend met een dubbele speelronde, dat vraagt om een extra ingelaste podcast. Waarin wij onze verontschuldiging maken aan LWD Basket, die twee wedstrijd met meer dan 20+ punten won (en dus een dubbele pandoering deed). Ondanks onze enorme complimentenregen in de vorige podcast verloor Kortrijk twee keer (nipt) op rij. Ook Oostende verloor in Aalst en Mons maakte slechts 13 punten in één helft tegen Spirou. Kortom, er zijn weer volop grappige, vreemde en spectaculaire dingen gebeurd in de BNXT League, en daarom weer een podcast van Henk, Sam, Matthijs en Maarten.

Ze won de publieksprijs van de PrixFintroPrijs 2022 voor Nederlandstalige literatuur. In 2024 verscheen het kinderboek 'En morgen nog een keer'. Poëziecentrum bedankt Creatief Schrijven voor de logistieke ondersteuning.

Despite the fact that he's only just turned 24 years of age, Fraser Hornby already has a fascinating football story to tell. The former Everton striker is the latest guest in our Bred a Blue podcast series that features former Academy players. Hornby made just one senior appearance for the Blues, but he's played top-flight football in Belgium, France, Scotland and now Germany. His current club is SC Darmstadt who are adjusting to life in the Bundesliga after promotion last season. Hornby started his youth career at Northampton Town but was considered good enough to command a fee from Everton when he was just 15. “I always wanted the next challenge in my career, so it wasn't really pressure,” he recalls. “I was really looking forward to going into that environment for a top team in a top league. I relished the challenge.” His big moment came in Cyprus in December 2017 when Everton played Appolon Limassol in the Europa League. The Blues had already been eliminated so Craig Shakespeare took an inexperienced squad for the tie. Initially, Hornby was named on the bench but when Stephen Duke McKenna injured Sandro Ramirez during a training session he was elevated to the starting eleven! Anthony Gordon, Harry Charsley, Alex Denny and Nathan Broadhead all made their debuts that night and Hornby was frustrated that he didn't get another opportunity with the senior team. “I wanted more and more and I wanted to kick on from it. I had a chance in the game and I still look back and think I could have scored," he continued. “It didn't work out the way I wanted to, which was down to a number of reasons. Maybe a little bit of luck along the way. “The biggest impact I had with the first team was when Sam Allardyce was in charge. I was in and around the first team every day and I travelled to a couple of Premier League games with the squad, which was good at the time. I felt that had he stayed on a bit longer I would have got my chance.” After a loan spell with Kortrijk in Belgium, Hornby signed a permanent deal with French side, Reims, in 2020. A further loan spell at Aberdeen ensued, which he reflects on with disappointment, especially as he is still Scotland's record Under-21 goalscorer with ten goals from his 18 appearances. At international level he worked with head coach, and former Everton midfielder, Scot Gemmill. “He's got a really good reputation with the SFA and he's one of the best coaches I've worked with," he added. Hornby joined Darmstadt 98 in 2023 and insists that he still hasn't given up hope of forcing his way into the senior Scotland squad one day.
