Full episode on our Patreon. Braydon Szafranski is a professional skateboarder whose charisma and un-filtered personality saw him become an icon; symbolic of the live-fast energy that defined skateboarding during the early 2000s. Originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, Szafranski moved to Los Angeles to pursue a professional skateboarding career in the early 2000s; with no defined plan or place to live, he arrived and started sleeping on the streets of Venice. His talent caught the attention of Chad Muska, leading to Szafranski riding for Shorty's and Circa. He later joined Baker Skateboards, becoming a prominent team member and appearing in influential skate videos like "Baker 3" and "Baker Has a Deathwish”.http://patreon.com/livingproofnewyorkhttp://livingproofnewyork.com

(edited) as a kid playing game was for nights and winter when it was raining but every time i had my friends over it was always a compitition to see who could get the best line or the highest score. I remember several weekends we would even carry our tvs to each others houses and have multiple games going at once. pizza tons of soda and nothing but laughs. bozo — Yesterday at 10:14 AM I was very late to the party with THPS - I only got into the series around 2016 as I was building up my OG Xbox library and had 2x/3/4 on hand to see what all the fuss was about. Going in, I was expecting it to be the kind of game that hasn't aged well; one whose reputation was heavily embellished by nostalgia for the era it represented. Needless to say, I was very, very wrong. THPS totally holds up. And the gameplay mechanics on offer are not only ridiculously deep, but fluid and cohesive in a way few other games can match even today. Chaining tricks into manuals into ramps into reverts is an absolutely sublime gameplay loop that never gets old. I'm always bothered whenever THPS gets lumped into the generic "Sports" categorization, when in reality it has way more in common with combo-oriented action games like Devil May Cry or Bayonetta than say, Madden. I think that's why it quickly became one of my all-time favorite series despite completely missing out on them when they were in the zeitgeist. Oh yeah, and the soundtrack? It shreds. As a huge pop-punk fan I couldn't ask for more. I'll never forgive Activision-Blizzard for shutting down Vicarious Visions and cancelling the THPS 3+4 remaster. 1+2 is arguably the best remaster ever made, and is easily the apex of the entire franchise, despite the moribund state the franchise was in for the previous 15 years. Joseph Shabason is a songwriter, a film and TV composer and a multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto, Ontario. He has recorded and collaborated with The War On Drugs, The Operators, Destroyer, DIANA and has released several solo records. His newest record, Welcome To Hell is a concept record directly inspired by the influential 1996 Toy Machine skate video of the same name. This re-imagined soundtrack is a spacious and spacey freeish jazz odyssey that is grounded in ECM sonic textures, late 60's Miles Davis reverberations and the very now vibes of experimental hip hop. Joseph tells us how Welcome To Hell differs from his previous records and how growing up in a rural Canada played a role in the concept. He shares the negative feedback he's received about the record and how he's spun it into a positive and a new perspective on art in general. We get proof that Ed Templeton is truly a wonderfully rad dude and Joseph tells us the story of Chad Muska at Welcome To Hell video premier. Joe cures Joseph of Covid and we hear a few tunes. 066 Chantelle Heroux, Founder of "Bridge to Skate" Non-Profit We talked about her nonprofit, Bridge to Skate. She does great work in South LA using Skateboarding as a tool for support, motivation, and making lives better.. I am happy to call her a friend and think you will enjoy the story of how she found Skateboarding, or maybe better said how it found her. I'd say all the people she's helped should be thankful she got kicked off the soccer team! I know I am!! Also known on Instagram by @blondecrisis911 and @bridgetoskate. Chantelle popped in for a little chat, a hug for me, and lots of cuddling with Tiago. She has a great story including building a school that houses 27 students in Honduras. A quote from the Bridge to Skate Website... With exercise comes education, and vice-versa. The two can't be separated when it comes to living a healthy and fulfilled life. An extension of the BTS concept of providing community support, our school development efforts have already led to changing lives. Our goal, where needed and endorsed, is to complete the “trifecta” – skateboard park, playground and school – in order to give the local community a strong foundation of growth that can lift it from impoverished circumstances over generations. I hope you enjoy my conversation with this creative, passionate, and giving human being, also known as Chanty.. We start out with a great conversation about Chad Muska which I think will entertain you..

Healing fear and instilling inspiration in our youth is the driving purpose of his non-profit organization, What Stops You. There's nothing quite like landing your very first kickflip wearing DC shoes, an Element hoodie, and a Circa cap. Well, you may never actually done this in real life but Tony Hawk's Underground, or THUG (turning 20 this year!), gave you the amazing opportunity to create your own character, customize their look, their deck, and even their tricks, and explore tons of amazing levels while teaming up with ultra famous skate icons like Mr. Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Chad Muska, and so many more. THUG is a landmark game in the genre that pushed the boundaries of what a sports game should be by letting you get off your board and explore the world around you. Mike & Neil bring on friends of the show Stefan and Harrison to revisit this game that they talked about almost 3 years ago and what the future holds for Tony Hawk Games and that weird monster T.H.U.D.
It's been a good couple of years since Felipe was on the show, but he's finally back with a vengeance as we tackle 2 distinct topics. First, Felipe enlightens John with insight on the skateboarding boom of the 2000s and the wild ride it's been for longtime pro Chad Muska in particular, as told in an entertaining documentary that you can legally watch for free on Vice's YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/3JFihjEWU3c After that, the meat of the episode is a deep dive into not a game series, not a game genre, but a particular game console that crossed the 20-year mark this decade: Sony's legendary PlayStation 2. A formative system for many series and genres, a huge leap for 3D console gaming, and of course a trusty DVD player during that boom, this system means a lot to us even today in various ways. Topics include notable platformer games, John's take on why this period was the peak of AAA gaming creativity, and Felipe's enduring love of the DualShock 2 as a fighting game controller.

Skateboarding icon Chad Muska talks about following his passion for Skateboarding, art and music and how using the life lessons he learned along the way led to his success in the sport and fueled his career in sport and street fashion creating his own brand of shoes, clothing, and skateboards.
The hawk man is back. Will you be able to be a protagonist worthy of the alien god, Anthony Hawk? Will you get into trouble in Europe? What is Chad Muska doing now anyway?
For this special episode, we are speaking with Ralph D’Amato, the producer and visionary for the documentary, Pretending I’m a Superman: The Tony Hawk Video Game Story. Pretending I’m a Superman is a documentary that tells the story of how skateboarding became a part of the mainstream by focusing on the success of the “Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater” video game franchise. The film stars pro skateboarding legends Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas. Ralph started in production on the billion-dollar Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater video game franchise where he was a producer on the first 8 titles. During that time, his production tasks included character art, animation, legal, licensing and interacting with the skaters and their sponsors. His responsibility also included the soundtracks for the video games, one of which won the first ever MTV Video Music Award for Video Game Soundtrack, Tony Hawk’s Underground. After departing the video game franchise, Ralph went on to become Director of New Media for Tony Hawk Incorporated. In 2017, Ralph founded an independent film production studio called D’Amato Productions, where he produced his first full-length, feature documentary – Pretending I'm a Superman. Ralph took some time to call in and discuss his career, why he wanted to tell the Tony Hawk story, and how this project came to be. Take a listen!
Second episode, wow, can you belief it? In this episode I talk about Kareem Campbell, Chad Muska and the skateboarding Hall Of Fame. Afterwords, things gets DEEP when I talk about injuries and what we as skaters can learn from them, covering some of my personal experiences and stories of some pro's experiences with bad, possibly career-changing injuries.
Chad Muska is a legendary Professional Skateboarder and entrepreneur. From an early age his passion for riding in Southern California admitted him to a then outcast community of other future street legends. Heralded as “one of the most marketable pros skateboarding has ever seen” he became a cultural icon helping bringing the sport to the main stream. Success can be a hard pill to swallow and he found himself at crossroads in the form of a spiritual shift. Embarking down a path of sobriety, his passions have turned towards philanthropy and art, and continues to skateboard.
I did it! I finally finished The Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and also the follow up, The Two Thrones. Then I took a break from combat heavy games and settled down with some good ol’ Chad Muska and Rodney Mullen’s Pro Skater.
Today's the day! Jake and Josh start Power Rangers Ninja Storm by watching "Prelude To A Storm"! Meeting new rangers is always a mixed bag so how do the new ones stack up? In this episode, Toby talks with his friend Chad Muska about his early life and discovering skating and music, his long pro-skating career, ups and downs in the world of skateboarding, his design and art accomplishments, being drug-free and plant-based and keeping the PMA. Danny Minnick grew up in Seattle, landing a successful career as a professional skateboarder in his early teenage years. However, a career-ending Achilles tendon injury led his life in another direction. Once an artist friend showed him how to stretch canvases, Minnick began experimenting with painting, channelling his energy and creativity into a new medium. His hobby soon became a profession, as he was offered his first gallery exhibition shortly after. While Minnick has moved away from skateboarding professionally, his art brings plenty of energy, passion and movement from his earlier experiences. Indeed, he cites Ray Pettitbon skateboard graphics as a major artistic influence, as well as other skateboarders turned artists such as Mark Gonzales, Neil Blender and Chad Muska. He also acknowledges the influence of street artist RETNA, as well as musicians Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. “One of my favourite things Basquiat said was that music is how we decorate time,” Minnick explains, “and when I listen to Jimi Hendrix I see his paintings.”
Sammy Baptista discusses growing up in Santa Barbara CA, skating for Powell Peralta, getting on Shorty’s Skateboards, filming for “Fulfill The Dream”, going on tours with Chad Muska, tearing his ACL, turning pro after the Shorty’s video “How To Go Pro”, skating for Turf Skateboards, almost dying and suffered 3rd and 4th degree burns over his body from an accident, the dreams he had while in a coma for 16 days, being a new father and much more!

Remember the early 2000s when all the coolest kids wore Chad Muska's weed concealing éS shoes, Tony Hawk's pro skater taught every teenager how to break their ankles trying to do a Christ Air, and Blink 182 was the world's (or maybe just the midwest's) most important band? Well 2/3 of us certainly do. Now, almost 20 years removed from the year that Blink 182's Enema of the State invited a whole generation to Southern California, the lead singer for Blink 182 is basically the world's greatest hope for finding and communicating with alien life. For those of you somehow still not convinced that God is nursing a heavy adderral addiction with a increasingly loose grip on reality, just reflect on the the fact that the guy from Blink 182 owns a company that's publishing UFO findings in the New York Times. Welcome to 2018, the year of Project Blue Beam. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOOOOOOOTTTT.
