Welcome solo and group practice owners! We are Liath Dalton and Evan Dumas, your co-hosts of Group Practice Tech. In our latest episode, we have exciting updates for cross-jursidictional and multi-jurisdictional practice. We discuss: The Counseling Compact, and the states in which it is live The ETA for the Social Work Licensure Compact going live Access MFT's licensure portability effort Portability-friendly laws and how they differ from rights for temporary practice PSYPACT updates Physical location restrictions and requirements for providers under compacts Details of our upcoming CE training: Legal-Ethical Cross-Jurisdictional Telemental Health in 2026: Interstate, International, and Complex Practice Considerations Listen here: https://personcenteredtech.com/group/podcast/ For more, visit our website. PCT Resources: New on-demand CE training: Legal-Ethical Cross-Jurisdictional Telemental Health in 2026: Interstate, International, and Complex Practice Considerations Presented by Eric Ström, JD, PhD, LMHC and Liath DaltonA 3-hour legal-ethical CE training for clinicians navigating the realities of modern telemental health practice, where clients travel, relocate, attend college out of state, split time between households, or receive care while physically located somewhere other than the clinician's primary licensing jurisdiction. This updated training moves beyond a basic "am I allowed to practice there?" analysis into advanced practical application. Participants examine practice-authority pathways, temporary practice allowances, PSYPACT, the Counseling Compact, the Social Work Licensure Compact, MFT portability developments, clinician-location versus client-location issues, international practice considerations, payer and malpractice concerns, emergency planning, confidentiality and mandatory reporting conflicts, minor consent and parent/guardian access issues, and documentation of due diligence. Participants also receive practical worksheets to support jurisdictional verification, international due diligence, and mapping applicable laws, risks, and practice implications — helping clinicians move from identifying a possible permission pathway to evaluating the conditions, conflicts, capacity, documentation, and risk-management steps needed to make a grounded practice decision. Recommended for any clinician providing teletherapy, as well as practice owners, supervisors, clinical directors, compliance leads, and other practice leadership responsible for supporting cross-jurisdictional care decisions. This training can also be assigned to team members through PCT's free team training management system (Group Practice Care basic.) As one participant shared: "Thank you for an absolutely excellent presentation! The presentation is a home run, and I will recommend it to my colleagues… I have a somewhat unique perspective on teletherapy and licensure mobility from working on these issues at the state, national, and international regulatory levels. The information that you provided is clear, direct, easy to follow, and accurate." PCT's free (!) Teletherapy Practice Rules by State Tool Whenever teletherapy sessions occur when the client -- or therapist -- are physically located outside the state of the clinician's licensure at the time of session, cross-jurisdictional practice is occurring. It is necessary to answer the question of whether it is permissible for you to work with that client in that state, regardless of whether the presence in another jurisdiction is temporary or not.In addition to the fundamental question of whether practice is permitted, and the particulars of how it is permitted, it is important to identify rules of practice, and training requirements, in order to be equipped with the information you need to follow for navigating legal-ethical cross-jurisdictional practice. This tool is a supportive resource to help you identify that information, link you to the authoritative source, and document your performance of due diligence when conducting cross-jurisdictional practice within the United States. What should the United States realistically expect from high-level diplomacy with China — and where are the real risks in the relationship? In this episode of The China Desk, host Steve Yates is joined by Andrew Harding, Policy Analyst for National Security and Indo-Pacific Affairs at The Heritage Foundation, for a detailed breakdown of President Trump's recent summit with Xi Jinping and the broader future of U.S.-China relations. Harding explains how the Heritage Foundation developed a framework for evaluating the summit — identifying what would constitute favorable outcomes for the United States, what risks to avoid, and how to think strategically about long-term competition with China. The discussion explores how the summit ultimately functioned less as a transformational moment and more as a “maintenance check” on an increasingly competitive relationship between Washington and Beijing. Major topics include: • Expectations surrounding the Trump–Xi summit • Favorable vs unfavorable outcomes for U.S. policy • Rare earths, export controls, and AI competition • Why advanced semiconductor restrictions matter • China's role in fentanyl trafficking and leverage • Taiwan and concerns over shifting U.S. policy language • Agricultural trade and strategic economic competition • China's support for Iran and geopolitical implications • Human rights concerns, including Jimmy Lai and religious persecution • Why the U.S.–China relationship remains structurally competitive • The future of AI rivalry between Washington and Beijing • Strategic dependencies and supply chain vulnerabilities The episode also dives into Harding's earlier work on the Pacific Islands and the Compacts of Free Association (COFA), highlighting why the region has become increasingly important in the context of U.S.-China competition. Additional topics include: • Chinese influence operations in the Pacific Islands • Why Palau, Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands matter strategically • Heritage Foundation's role in supporting COFA renewal efforts • The “Pacific Pivot” strategy for long-term U.S. engagement A major takeaway from the conversation is that future U.S.-China engagement should focus on protecting American strategic advantages — especially in AI, advanced technology, and national security — while avoiding concessions that weaken U.S. leverage. The episode closes with a broader discussion on what to watch for ahead of a possible future Xi visit to the United States and why export controls and AI competition may become the defining issue of the next phase of U.S.-China relations. 00:00 — Intro + Andrew Harding joins 02:08 — From Russia to China policy work 06:21 — Pacific Islands strategy and COFA agreements 10:14 — Heritage's “Pacific Pivot” strategy 11:16 — Expectations for the Trump–Xi summit 13:53 — Favorable outcomes for the U.S. 16:19 — Unfavorable outcomes and red lines 19:09 — Did the summit accomplish anything? 22:06 — Engagement vs strategic competition 27:07 — Preparing for a future Xi visit to the U.S. 32:19 — What to watch next: AI and export controls 35:23 — Final thoughts + closing Watch Full-Length Interviews: https://www.youtube.com/@ChinaDeskFNW

Send us a textBehind every racing series lies a story of passion, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of building something meaningful. Drew Jack's 12-year journey with the National Compact Touring Series reveals exactly that—a tale that began in the grandstands of Kalamazoo Speedway where his father would drop him off as a "cheap babysitter" and has evolved into creating opportunities for racers who might otherwise never experience iconic venues. What started with "a chip on my shoulder" after another touring series canceled an event has blossomed into an organization that's made motorsports history. The NCTS holds the distinction of being the first touring series to race at Garrett and Cleetus McFarland's Freedom Factory during its rebirth and the first on track during North Wilkesboro's revitalization—an achievement that puts this grassroots series in the NASCAR history books.Drew pulls back the curtain on the challenges of building a touring series, from weathering lean years to handling criticism, and even reveals he nearly sold the series entirely before a pivotal phone call changed everything. He shares candid stories about working a demanding corporate job while building NCTS, sometimes fielding crisis calls during air shows when he wasn't even at the track.Perhaps most compelling is how the series has used its platform to give back, hosting Down Syndrome awareness events, mental health initiatives, and creating opportunities for children and families who might never otherwise experience live racing. "We use national compacts in our lease events to give back to the community," Drew explains, emphasizing the deeper purpose behind the competition.Breaking news drops mid-conversation as Drew announces the debut of the NCTS Figure 8 Series at Galesburg Speedway on August 24th and the return of the touring series to the track after a long absence. He outlines their ambitious summer schedule, including events at Berlin Raceway, M40 Speedway, and their World Series of Compacts at Owosso Speedway in September.Want to experience affordable, competitive racing that's attracted NASCAR talents like Haley Deegan, Ryan Preece, and Ben Rhodes? Check out an NCTS event this summer and discover why these "crap boxes" (as Drew playfully disputes) deliver some of the most entertaining racing in the Midwest.Support the showFACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/womensmotorsportsnetworkandpodcast INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/womensmotorsportsnetwork/ LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melindarussell/ TIKTOK: https://www.linkedin.com/in/melindarussell/ X: https://x.com/IWMANation FACEBOOK Personal Page: https://www.facebook.com/melinda.ann.russell
Faculty at one Ohio college are devising a plan to defend institutions from what they describe as government overreach.
In this episode, hosts Ray Powell and Jim Carouso sit down with Cleo Paskal, a leading Indo-Pacific analyst and non-resident senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, to unpack the growing threat of China's gray zone influence in the Pacific Islands and why it matters for the United States and its allies.Paskal explains the strategic significance of the Pacific Islands, which include U.S. territories and the three Compact of Free Association states—Palau, the Marshall Islands, and the Federated States of Micronesia. These islands serve as America's “gateway to Asia,” enabling military access and power projection across the Pacific to key allies like Japan and Taiwan. Historically, whoever controls these islands can threaten the U.S. mainland and dominate Pacific trade routes—a reality recognized since the days of President McKinley and the Spanish-American War.Cleo prefers the Filipino term “ICAD” (Illegal, Coercive, Aggressive, and Deceptive) over “gray zone” to describe China's activities. She details how Beijing uses a “braided” approach that combines commercial investments, strategic infrastructure, and criminal enterprises. Chinese-linked businesses often promise development but end up facilitating elite capture, corruption, and even state capture, while most of the population sees little benefit. Activities include:Bribery and elite capture of local officialsStrategic port and real estate acquisitions near sensitive military sitesCriminal networks trafficking drugs, gambling, and human traffickingPolitical interference, media manipulation, and lawfare against local oppositionThe podcast explores how China's influx of money and promises of quick infrastructure projects are hard for small island economies to resist—especially when Western aid is slow, bureaucratic, or absent. However, Cleo notes that Chinese economic engagement often benefits only a narrow elite and can leave countries worse off, both economically and environmentally. She argues that the West, especially the U.S., must offer meaningful economic alternatives and support for good governance, not just military or diplomatic engagement.Despite U.S. political polarization, Cleo notes that support for the Pacific Islands remains bipartisan, especially regarding the renewal of the Compacts of Free Association. She also stresses that Pacific Islanders view the U.S. differently from former colonial powers, seeing America as a beacon of liberty and democracy—an image China is actively trying to undermine through narrative warfare. This episode makes clear that the Pacific Islands are not just remote dots on the map but are central to U.S. security, the rules-based order, and the future of the Indo-Pacific. China's gray zone campaign is a sophisticated, multi-layered threat that demands urgent, coordinated action from the U.S. and its allies—combining hard security, economic opportunity, and support for local agency and resilience.Follow our podcast on X, @IndoPacPodcast; or on LinkedIn or BlueSkySponsored by BowerGroupAsia

On this episode of our ‘Explained' series: Interstate compacts are little-known yet powerful agreements that allow states to work together on critical issues like healthcare, occupational licensing, and transportation. These agreements help states streamline policies, reduce bureaucratic barriers, and even improve access to essential services. But how do they work, and why are they becoming more prominent in recent years? In this episode, we're joined by Joana Da Silva-Gonzalez, Manager of Policy Initiatives at West Virginia University's Knee Center. Joana specializes in state policy research and legislative trends, with a particular focus on workforce mobility, healthcare access, and regulatory frameworks. She breaks down the mechanics of interstate compacts, highlights recent legislative trends, and explains how these agreements are shaping the landscape of professions like medicine, social work, and education. China's approach is externally focused and aims to increase its own power while decreasing the power of other nations. The Chinese Communist Party's influence extends beyond government and includes economic, social, and criminal elements. The US and its allies need to be aware of China's grand strategy and its impact on the Pacific region. The principal themes of the conversation are the importance of addressing corruption in the Pacific Islands, the strategic significance of the Pacific region, the need for maritime domain enforcement, and the role of the US in supporting the Pacific Islands.Takeaways:China is actively growing its influence in the Pacific Island nations, which are strategically important for the US.China's comprehensive national power metric ranks countries based on various factors and aims to increase China's power while decreasing the power of other nations.China's approach is externally focused and includes economic, social, and criminal elements. The US and its allies need to be aware of China's grand strategy and its impact on the Pacific region. Corruption in the Pacific Islands is a major issue that needs to be addressed, as it undermines national security and allows China to gain influence in the region. The Pacific region is strategically significant, and control over the islands and maritime routes is crucial for both the US and China.Maritime domain enforcement is essential to protect the rights and interests of the Pacific Islands and to counter illegal activities by China. The US should provide support to the Pacific Islands in terms of intelligence sharing, investigations, and strengthening their legal systems to combat corruption and defend their communities. The US needs to increase its presence and engagement in the Pacific Islands to counter China's influence and protect its own interests in the region.Sound Bites:"If you have a Pacific centered map, you know, the Indo-Pacific is going to be the, to the 21st century, what the Atlantic was to the 20th century.""China's comprehensive national power mentality seems to have actually translated into action in the way that they interact with the region.""China's approach is not just a kind of zero-sum game. Shoot us a Text. We're rolling through the middle of the week as we cover Cox Automotive's June wholesale price data and its warnings about lease maturities. Plus, Carvana is now offering used EV tax credits at checkout and Google is making it easier to have advanced account protection.Show Notes with linksUsed-vehicle wholesale prices experienced a decline in June, continuing a downward trend observed over the past 22 months, according to Cox Automotive.Non-adjusted prices decreased 2.2% from May and were down 10% year-over-year.Retail sales disruptions from CDK outages impacted the market, but declines slowed to a normal pace by month-end.Seasonally adjusted prices were down YoY as well. Luxury vehicle prices dropped 9.9%, SUVs and crossovers 9.3%, Compacts 12%, Midsize 11%, pickups 8.3% and electric vehicles 17%.The availability of 3-year-old vehicles decreased due to fewer off-lease returns, affecting auction supply. Cox forecasts a 12% decrease in lease maturities in Q3, potentially dropping 17-18% in Q4."This is a pattern that is not going to go away for the next two years, and we'll likely be dealing with it through 2026," said Jeremy Robb, senior director of economics and industry insights at Cox Automotive Carvana is now offering up to $4,000 off at checkout for eligible used EVs and plug-in hybrids, advancing the federal tax incentive so customers can benefit immediately rather than waiting for tax refunds.Discounts are available on Carvana's app or website for vehicles with a green tax credit banner.Customers must file IRS Form 8936 and transfer the credit to Carvana when filing taxes. This comes as the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee voted in favor of a bill that would undo federal EV tax credits, arguing they benefit Chinese companies.Google has simplified the process for securing high-risk accounts with its Advanced Protection Program. Ray and Jim examine why we should care about the seemingly insignificant islands scattered across the Pacific region with former U.S. Ambassador to Palau John Hennessey-Niland. They highlight the strategic importance of these islands in terms of their supply routes and military access. John explains the Compacts of Free Association by which the U.S. guarantees the security of three Micronesian countries in exchange for exclusive access. They also discuss the rapidly expanding role of China in these island countries and the challenges of "elite capture" and corruption. The conversation emphasizes the need for the United States and its allies to avoid the temptation to ignore these countries and allow them to slip into China's orbit through benign neglect. Finally, in the latest edition of "There I was...", Ray recounts how he and Jim were able to navigate a tricky international dilemma in Australia with the help of a very good military lawyer.

The Northern Marianas is part of the United States but exists in a strategic environment unlike anywhere else in America. Sharing a maritime boundary with Japan, the Northern Marianas hosted a strategic air base for America's operations in World War II. Today, as the same base in Tinian is under redevelopment for use by the U.S. Air Force, a Chinese-linked casino recently opened nearby. Unlike anywhere else in America, tourists from China can enter the Northern Mariana Islands through the CNMI-only visa waiver program that has made the U.S. more vulnerable to malicious, CCP-led activities. This is in addition to the large investments that have flowed through the islands' financial system with little national security oversight. The frontline between the People's Republic of China's influence operations and America's strategic positioning are at a significant crossroads. The ongoing bipartisan Congressional failure to approve the renewal of key components of the Compacts of Free Association leaves the future of U.S. defense architecture in the Central Pacific hanging in the balance and risks further isolating the Northern Marianas and neighboring Guam.Join FDD for a conversation with Northern Marianas Governor Arnold Palacios; the Hon. Randall G. Schriver, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs and current Chairman of the Board at The Project 2049 Institute; and FDD Senior Fellow Cleo Paskal. The conversation will be moderated by Craig Singleton, FDD China Program Director and Senior Fellow.

In this episode, I was joined by Andrew Johnston, co-founder of “A Tale of Two Hygienists,” and the man responsible for The Dental Podcast Network at Dental Economics. He's also a restorative hygienist. Also making an appearance was Editor-In-Chief at Dr. Bicuspid and my Chew On This Podcast co-host, Kevin Henry. We discussed some of the noticeable movements that have been shaking the current norms in the dental industry: Artificial Intelligence: We had to discuss the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and its industry impact. From its potential applications in administrative tasks and clinical settings to concerns about accuracy and overreliance, we tackled the evolving role of AI in the dental field for 2023 and beyond. Compacts between states for dental licenses: We're facing challenges with dental professionals obtaining licenses in different states and the impact on competency and efficiency. The concept of compacts is significant as it highlights the need for agreement on education standards and scope of practice across states. This issue of differing standards and practices has implications for the mobility and professional development of dental practitioners. And yes, we go into what a compact actually means! Evolving landscape of industry events: Declining attendance at dental conferences introduces financial strain to vendors. It's actually helped the rise of online CE platforms. There's a need for a different approach to attract quality education and speakers to create an amazing attendee experience. Let's see if 2024 brings improvements but we should be prepared for new developments. Hyundai's N Division is just over a decade old, but it's already helping once-thriving segments. Once upon a time, the world was flooded with sporty compacts from automakers across the board, from Ford's Focus and Fiesta hot hatchbacks to the Nissan Sentra SE-R, and everything in between. Despite the sport compact herd thinning out, the folks at Hyundai jumped into the fray with a hopped-up Elantra. Dubbed the Elantra N, this sedan packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 under the hood that sends 276 hp to the front wheels by way of a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2023 Hyundai Elantra N and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the Elantra N and highlights some of his favorite features. Later in the show, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to the mix, Wren chats with Autoweek's Emmet White, who experienced the DCT variant of the Elantra N. The pair talk share their experiences, compare the Elantra N to the competition, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the Elantra N special.
The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) is a critical U.S. ally. It is one of three countries (along with Palau and Marshall Islands) that have signed Compacts of Free Association (COFAs) with the U.S. giving the U.S. extensive defense access, second only to what the U.S. has in the homeland. The COFAs forms the backbone of U.S. security architecture in the Central Pacific and facilitates U.S. freedom of deployment from Hawaii to the Philippines. FSM citizens can also live and work in the U.S. and serve in the U.S. military at high rates.Given its geographical location and its importance to the U.S., the FSM is the target of unrelenting People's Republic of China (PRC) political warfare and grey zone operations, with the goal of pulling the FSM away from the U.S. and into Beijing's orbit. For example, currently key components of the Compacts are awaiting renewal by Congress, giving an opening for PRC influence campaigns to foster uncertainty about U.S. commitment to the region.Between 2022 and early 2023, then president of FSM, David W. Panuelo, wrote three letters describing in unprecedented detail for a head of state Chinese activity in his country and in the Pacific Islands area. He warned that not only were PRC activities corrupting the FSM and undermining democracy, they were an intrinsic part of Beijing Taiwan contingency planning. To update on the situation in FSM since he left government, FDD's China Program is pleased to host former President of Micronesia David W. Panuelo for a discussion with FDD Non-Resident Senior Fellow Cleo Paskal. The conversation will be moderated by FDD Senior Fellow Craig Singleton with remarks by FDD Adjunct Fellow Richard Clark.
This Week in Oklahoma Politics, KOSU's Michael Cross talks with Republican Political Consultant Neva Hill and Civil Rights Attorney Ryan Kiesel about the Chairman of the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board refusing to sign a contract to create a Catholic charter school, an announcement by State Superintendent Ryan Walters that he has paid $7.5M in signing bonuses to teachers and another member of the State Board of Education has resigned. The trio also discusses House Speaker Charles McCall replacing two members of the pension board after they voted on an exemption against a state law banning agencies from doing businesses with companies that are perceived to be hostile to oil and gas companies and the state Supreme Court choosing to not heat a challenge to tribal compacts created by the legislature without the governor's blessing.

We've talked in previous episodes about physician contracts, and have compared and contrasted them with physician compacts. At its core, a Physician Compact is a mutual agreement between physicians and their organizations. These are not legal documents, like a contract, but living, breathing agreements that serve as the foundation for mutual expectations and accountability. But they are not just about creating rules and guidelines; they are tools for intentionally developing a culture within your practice. Now, you may wonder: Why should you consider implementing a Physician Compact? The answer lies in the power of alignment. A well-structured compact helps to align your goals with those of your team, fostering shared responsibility and a collective vision. It's not just about setting expectations, but about creating a culture of respect, collaboration and mutual understanding.
