Ever wonder what it's like to team up with a near stranger for a grueling 8-hour adventure race? That's exactly the twist fate handed me and my new partner, Greg, after my original teammate had to bow out due to injury. Our impromptu duo faced the Castlewood 8-hour adventure race head-on, and this podcast is your opportunity to ride shotgun through the entire electrifying experience. From the pre-race jitters as we laid eyes on a daunting pile of maps, to the warm embrace of the adventure racing community, we navigated the unexpected urban labyrinth in honor of the late David Frey. Navigating the urban sprawl of St. Louis became our unexpected playground as we raced against the clock, and I share the pulse-pounding decisions that shaped our race day. The cold morning rush to the start line, the strategic selection of biking over running, and the grueling checkpoints that pushed us to our limits - it's all here in vivid detail. And for those who think adventure is solely about nature, our urban escapade will flip that notion on its head. This was a race that tested not just our stamina, but our ability to adapt, think quickly, and maintain a level head when things didn't go according to plan.Looking ahead, I tease an upcoming challenge: the Pier Marquette Trail Run. Here, I switch gears from pedal to pace as I tackle the rugged terrain with my road-running friend Lacey. Prepare to be transported to the trails as we recount the thrills, spills, and camaraderie of this off-road adventure in a future episode. Whether it's navigating city streets or navigating steep trails, the spirit of adventure pulses through every story shared. Join me, jtiggs, for a journey that goes beyond mere race recaps and into the heart of what it means to embrace the unexpected in the wild world of adventure racing.Welcome to the Do Hard Things Podcast with your host Jay Tiegs, Are you ready to amplify and improve your life? A young boy was playing with his pet goldfish, when he accidentally killed it. Scared he would get in trouble, the boy, named David, lied about what happened to his fish. Immediately, he felt guilty. He confessed the lie to his mom as tears streamed down his face. His mom said, “David, Jesus loves you no matter what you have done.” That little boy was David Frey, who grew up to be the lead singer of the Christian band Sidewalk Prophets. He wrote a song about that experience, called “You Love Me Anyway.” As parents of sons, let's follow the example of David's mom. Our son is going to make mistakes. When he does, let's remind him first and foremost that there's nothing he can do to cancel out Jesus' all-consuming, unconditional love. Opening Song: To Live is Christ (https://open.spotify.com/track/2RQvdhnvPxxLBHkCPd1dnw?si=fe55fcebf57146de) by Ben McDonald, Casey Brown, David Frey, and Jonathan Smith Lyrics: If I rise let me rise on You Not on all of my successes My esteem or my pursuits If I lose let me lose my life 'Cause if I belong to Jesus The flesh is crucified For me to live is Christ For me to live is Christ For me to live is Christ To die is gain If I grow let me grow in You Wilt the seeds of wanting more Ripping pride out by the roots And if I'm still let me hear You speak Not the tone of my transgressions But the song of the redeemed My great desire is to be with You But this is the place You chose for me This is the place You chose for me To lift my cross and give ev'rything This is the time You gave to me This is the time You gave to me For me to live is Christ For me to live is Christ For me to live is Christ To die is gain I'll never be the same I'll never be the same For me to live is Christ To die is gain Passage: 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me. Yet which I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all, for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that in me you may have ample cause to glory in Christ Jesus, because of my coming to you again. 27 Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel, (Philippians 1:21–27 ESV) Musical Reflection: “Be Thou My Vision,” old Irish folk tune Reflection Notes: The hymn commonly known as “Be Thou My Vision” is set to the tune SLANE, which is an old Irish folk tune. It samples both major and minor tonalities, with a perfect balance between the two. Prayer: Eternal God, we bless you for all people holy and humble of heart who served you here of whom also you did make trial and found them worthy for yourself. Happy are the souls who, being loosed from the earthly prison, go freely into heaven, there to behold their dearest Lord face to face, and are no more disquieted by any fear of death but rejoice in glory everlasting. And we ask you so to guide and defend us that finally we may attain to that glory and to the gladsome praises of your godhead, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, forever and forevermore. Amen. -Augustine

Tanner Chidester is one of the most sought-after online coaches in the market today. His expertise in B2C and B2B success gives him the unique ability to help you grow your business in a multitude of ways. Tanner Chidester was born in 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the eldest of seven children of Curtis and Concetta Chidester, a Mormon family. In his childhood, he suffered from bullying, so he started weightlifting at age of 12. In 2010 he began studying Petroleum engineering at Brigham Young University. During his studies, he also played Division 1 football, but many shoulder injuries made him leave his career in 2012 after being transferred to Arizona Western. His mentor, David Frey, encouraged him to drop out in his senior year of his studies to found his first business, the Fit Warrior training program, with the money earned through door-to-door sales and fitness modeling to fund his entrepreneurial venture. Due to his success with Fit Warrior, Chidester launched a second business, Elite CEOs, consulting on how to start and scale a business fast. The Ritchie Boys, Nisei, and WWII: The Language of War The Not Old Better Show, Smithsonian Associates Interview Series Welcome to the Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast.  You're listening to our award-winning Smithsonian Associates Interview Series.  I'm Paul Vogelzang, and our guest today is Dr. David Frey, who's written and researched and will be telling us all about his subject, The Richie Boys. Between 1942 and 1945, the U.S. military established the Military Intelligence Training Center (MITC), which recruited an unusual group of soldiers: refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe, Japanese Americans, Native Americans, African Americans, women, artists, intellectuals, and others. Our guest today, Dr. David Frey, a professor of history and director of the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at West Point, spotlights two groups that possessed invaluable linguistic skills and who could pull off an amazing transformation to aid the US war effort.  Among the “Ritchie Boys,” named for the secret Camp Ritchie facility in Maryland, were young Jewish refugees mostly from Nazi Germany and Austria. They returned to Europe after being trained in how to gather battlefield intelligence. Second-generation Japanese Americans or Nisei also trained at the camp, serving as translators, interpreters, and interrogators. Dr. David Frey tells us the story of the recruits' wartime contributions and their enduring effects on the culture and politics of the Cold War era—and on what it meant to be an American.  This story is amazing and The Ritchie Boys were young men, many of them German-born Jews, who fled Nazi Germany to the US. They were trained in intelligence and psychological warfare and returned to Germany as soldiers in the US army. Join me for a fascinating story you have to hear to believe, and let's welcome to The Not Old Better Show on radio and podcast, Smithsonian Associate, Dr. David Frey. My thanks to Dr. David Frey for his generous time today, as well as this fascinating Smithsonian Associates story of The Ritchie Boys.  My thanks to the Smithsonian Associates for their ongoing support of the show.  My thanks to you my wonderful Not Old Better Show audience here on the radio and on the podcast.  Please be well, be safe, and let's eliminate assault rifles.  Assault rifles are not needed and our wonderful children and grandchildren are frightened in the very place they do their learning: schools.  Let's do this together and let's talk about better.  The Not Old Better Show.  I'll see you next week…thanks, everybody.

The Marketing Secrets Show

Listen to part 2 of 4 of my keynote presentation from FHL. During this part of the presentation, I start diving deeper into how to create your irresistible offers. On today’s episode you will hear part 2 of 4 of Russell’s first presentation at Funnel Hacking Live 2019. Here are some of the super awesome things you will hear in this part: Hear Russell give ideas for a written offer, an audio offer, and a video offer, that are all super easy. Find out why it’s so important to not be a commodity and how you can avoid it. And see why Russell always has several things he can use to bulk up his offers. So listen here to hear the second part of Russell’s keynote presentation at this year’s Funnel Hacking Live. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone this is Russell. Welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. I hope you enjoyed the first 25% of my keynote presentation at Funnel Hacking Live. During today’s episode I’m going to start diving deeper into actually how you create an offer. We talked about so far the fact that the offer increases the value, you have to have amazing offers because that’s how you decommoditize yourself and how you make people desire and lust and go crazy for the thing you’re trying to sell. So the next thing is like, “Okay, that’s cool Russell, but you know I’m selling physical products, and I’m doing this or whatever and I don’t know how to bulk up my offer.” And the easiest way to bulk up offers is with information products. So the next section of my presentation, I started going deeper into exactly how to create information products. I walk through nine different ways that I think you’re going to enjoy. We’re going to kind of go through nine different ways, and then do a couple of potential exercises and things like that, and then we’re going to move into story. So with that said, I’m queue up the theme song and jump into part two of my keynote presentation. So the question is, how do you do that? Some of you guys are like, “I sell this thing, how do I make it sexier? How do I make an offer?” So the fastest way to increase an offer is to bulk it up by adding other types of information products. So I’m going to go through a couple of ways you guys can create quick information products to bulk up any offer without actually having to write a book. Does that sound like fun? Alright cool. So I’m going through 3 different things you can do. Number one, there are written words, but I’m going to show you how to do that without actually writing any words. Number two is audio and number three is video. This will give you guys ideas so no one will be able to say, “I can’t create an offer, Russell.” With these things I’m going to show you, you can create millions and millions of offers. In fact, if you start looking at everything I do, you’ll notice there’s always one of these three things I’m using to bulk up my offers every single time. So the first are written things. So the first thing I want to show you guys is, how many of you guys would love to have a book but you don’t want to write a book? Books are the most painful part of anything I’ve ever done, ever. By far. So this is a book that was a crowd source book called chicken soup for the soul. How many of you guys have read Chicken Soup for the Soul? How many of you guys have read one of the 8 million versions since then? The most amazing thing about this book is that they authors who wrote this book didn’t actually write any of the words in the books. Isn’t that great? Yet, they still made millions and millions and millions and millions of dollars. The other day my son came into my little office, it was Bowen again, he came in and he saw this book and he said, “Dad, is that your new book?” and I said, “Yeah.” And he said, “You wrote another new book?” I was like, “Well, kind of.” And he’s like, “What do you mean kind of?” I’m like, ‘Well, I wrote the title and that was it.” He’s like, “Did you cheat?” I’m like, “No, I didn’t cheat. I have 30 people who’ve got Two Comma Club awards write how they would get a two comma club award if they could do it again.” He’s like, “And then they just wrote the chapter?” I said, “Yeah, then I put it in a book, then we sell the book.” And he’s like, “But you didn’t write anything.” I’m like, “I wrote the title. It’s a really good title.” And he’s like, “I don’t think that’s a real book dad.” I’m like, ‘No, it really is.” How many of you guys inside whatever business you’re in could find a whole bunch of experts in whatever it is, and you could write a book like this? This book alone, we did the very first launch of the one funnel away challenge where we gave this away, and we closed it down for like four months, people were auctioning these things off. Someone sold one for over $500 on eBay. People were going crazy for this book. Now when we’re launching one funnel away challenge again, we’re like, ‘you guys get this book.” And people flip out. People buy just because they want the book, and I didn’t write a word of it. So think about this, how could you guys like, Chicken Soup for the Soul trailblazed it for us, I trailblazed it for you, how could you guys do that same thing in your market? Find people around you and be like, “Let me interview you,” do 30 of you, or 20  of you, or 10 of you and put together and make a book. There’s a million things you could do with that, but it’s a fast, easy way to create a book but you don’t actually have to do it. Number two way to get written books really fast is to compile examples of stuff. How many of you guys have read my 108 Split Tests book? This is literally just screen shots of 108 of our split tests and people go crazy for it. How many of you guys are doing stuff in your business or whatever it is you do, where you have this byproduct? We weren’t planning on selling this, we were just doing split tests and it takes screen shots of the split tests and eventually two years later we’re like, we should just put these all in a book. We just compiled a whole bunch of examples and we sold it. This right here, how many of you guys are members of Funnel University? Every month we find a couple of funnels, we compile them, talk about them, and show them to people. Not my funnels, other people’s funnels. We just find the cool ones and we show them and put them in a newsletter. How many of you guys have seen this book, the 74 Funnel Swipe File? None of you guys have seen it yet. Another product coming out soon to a funnel near you. Same thing, we’re just compiling cool stuff. How many of you guys have seen cool stuff before? You should just compile it then, make a book, and then it’s amazing. More people have probably read this book than my other books that I spent years slaving on to write, and they’re like, ‘Oh, this is better.” One of my favorite ones, this is kind of a tricky one. How many of you guys have heard of the public domain before? This is where Walt Disney got all his ideas by the way, he never wrote anything. He just went to the public domain and he’s like, “Oh sweet, someone wrote a story about a beauty and a beast, or about a snow princess, or about all these things.’ He found public domain stories and produced movies out of it. Anything that was written pre-1923 in the United States is in the public domain and you can republish it as your own. One of my friends, Matt Furey, he took this old 1914 wrestling course, Farmer Burns, published the book and made over a million dollars selling that course. Have any of you guys read Think and Grow Rich? Master Key Systems? Tons of the books that you guys know and are aware of are all in the public domain, you can republish them. There are two places I go for public domain stuff. Number one I go to Gutenburg.org, everything on Gutenburg.org is on the public domain. They just publish, there’s like 50,000 ebooks there, you could find one in your market, you can take it and republish it as your own. The second secret, I go to eBay and eBay in the non-fiction book section, you can search by year, so I search by year and I start typing keywords in my market. And you will be amazed at how many amazing books that have been written that people are selling on eBay for $1.50, that you can then republish and sell for whatever you want. Bundle inside of your offer to quickly get amazing books. Okay, so there’s three fast ways to make books. Crowd source them, compile a bunch of examples, or go in the public domain. Okay now here’s a concept I need you guys to understand as we move from the first three to the next three and beyond. This will make this whole process simpler for you. The concept is this, people will spend more money for the exact same content packaged in a different way. I’ll say it again. People will spend more money for the exact same content packaged in a different way. When I first started this business, I remember going to events like this and the speaker, it seemed like every single time some speaker would say, “Who here has read Think and Grow Rich?” By the way, how many of you guys have read Think and Grow Rich? Which is in the public domain by the way, so you guys can all publish and make Think and Grow Rich for Dentists, Think and Grow Rich for Surfers, Think and Grow Rich for whatever, it’s ready for you. But anyway, I kept hearing that so I went and bought the book and I was like, I’m so excited to read the book, and I put it next to my bed stand and it sat there for months and months and then years. And every time I’d go to an event, they’d be like, “Who read Think and Grow Rich?” I’d raise my hand, well I haven’t actually read it. I have it, someday I’ll read it. And one day I remember feeling guilty and I went on eBay and I typed Think and Grow Rich Cd’s and someone was selling the CD course of it. So I bought the CDs, go it in my car and for the next 3 weeks, I started “reading” Think and Grow Rich in my car. What’s interesting about this, the book Think and Grow Rich cost me $9.97 on Amazon. The CDs cost me $97 on eBay. So I literally paid ten times more money for the exact same thing packaged in a different way. Was there any difference between the book and the audio? It was literally word for word. Some dude read the book and then it became CDs and I spent ten times as much. This is the lesson for you guys. How many of you guys read the Dotcom Secrets book? How many of you guys read the Expert Secrets book? Why are you here then? Everything I know is in those books.  I got nothing else. Oh, because it’s packaged a different way. Does that make sense? I want you guys all to understand that what you have you can package in so many different ways, and because of the experience, how it’s being fulfilled, all those things, it shifts the value of it. This is way more valuable than a $10 book, this experience being here. So I’m going to shift over to audio now. This is a book that we republished, this is in the public domain, it’s called the Life Work of Farmer Burns. I had my father in law get a microphone out, he read it, we turned it into a CD and started selling, this is ten years ago, started selling this book on CD. So you can find a book, you can read it, you can have somebody else read it, find the book in public domain, find something like that, and make an audio book.  A very simple, easy way to do it. Number two is you can interview others. So this is a book, how many of you guys have read this book, by the way?  I know all our Two Comma Club X members, I sent you guys a copy of it. Everyone’s like, “This thing is bigger than the phone book.” It’s one of the best books ever. I remember when it first came out, David Frey, where’s David at? So David got it and he’s like, ‘This book’s amazing.” And he called up Vince James’ is the author, and he interviewed him for a whole bunch of stuff, and he made a whole audio course out of it, and Dave’s a genius, so I should just do what Dave did. So then I called him up and I said, “Hey can I interview you too?” and he’s like, “Sure.” So I interviewed the guy who wrote this book. The guy made, he was a 20 year old kid and made a hundred million dollars through direct mail selling supplements. So I called him on the phone and I interviewed him and he let me interview him for six hours. When it was done he was like, “You can have the rights to the audios, I have the rights too. We can do whatever we want with them.” I’m like, “Sweet.” So then like 2 years later I launched it and this actually became my very first ever Two Comma Club Funnel. I made a million dollars selling interviews of the interview I did with this guy who wrote the book. Is that amazing? So how many of you guys have ever read a book before? How many of you guys could call the author and be like, “Hey can I interview you?” And if someone’s like, “He’s too famous, he wrote all these big books. He’s never going to interview me.” I’m going to tell you the life of an author, if you guys really want to know how it works. They geek out on a topic, they spend their whole life writing this book and they’re so proud of it and they’re so excited. And then they tell their spouse or their family and friends and they’re like, “Okay. That’s weird.” And they’re like, “Oh, nobody cares.” And then there’s an audience who gets the book and they love it and read it and they’re like, “My people did read it.” right. And then somebody calls and they’re like, “Hey, that book was amazing. Can I interview you?” The person is like, “Yes, you can.” Just so you know. They want you to talk to them. They want to share this stuff. It does not happen enough. If you went to Amazon and find the top ten authors of books in your market, I guarantee you 9 out of 10 will get you on the phone that fast. Or you can actually, I don’t know if Jason Fladlien is here this year, but Jason gave me an idea that was brilliant. He was doing an offer and this kind of ties back to the story we’ll talk about here in a minute, but he was doing an offer where he was selling a funnel course and he was like, “I want to interview someone who did ecommerce funnels. Well, Trey Lewellen has got the highest grossing ecommerce funnel right now inside of Clickfunnels, I want to interview Trey.” So he calls up Trey and he’s like, “Hey, can I interview you?” and they’re friends. And Trey’s like, “Sure man, you can interview me.” And Jason’s like, “Well, I need to wire you some money first.” And Trey’s like, “No, don’t worry about it. I’ll do the interview.” And he’s like, “No, no, I need to wire you the money because otherwise there’s no value in this interview. And Trey’s like, ‘What” so Trey’s like, “Whatever.” So Jason wires him like $5000 and he does the interview and then when you see when Jason is selling his product, he does the stack and goes through the stack, “Number one, number two, number three….” He’s like, “Number three right here, do you see this right here? This is the guy, he’s the number one ecommerce seller in Clickfunnels. He had a funnel that did $20 million dollars in six weeks selling flashlights and I wired him $5000 to interview because I wanted to find out, he does interviews but I wanted to find out the real stuff, so I paid him $5000 to interview him. And that interview you guys could have.” All the sudden that bullet point in this stack slide went from, “Oh it’s an interview.” to “that’s worth $5000 now.” The value instantly shoots up. So interviewing people is huge. In fact, when I launched the 10x Secrets course I had my offer and it was good and I was like, “How do I make this sexier?” so the first thing I did is I interviewed a bunch of people. I interviewed this man right here, where’s Myron at? Everyone loves Myron. Anyway, I interviewed Myron, I wrote a bunch of people who I learned how to close from stage from. I interviewed all of them, plugged that into the course, increased the value of the course. So interviewing people is huge, for any product. I don’t think there’s a product I put out that I don’t interview people. I do it even if it’s my product. I’m like, “Who are the 10 other people I can interview who have done something similar?” because all those things increase the value of what it is I’m selling. And then the last audio one is compiling hard to find podcasts, and audios and things like that. If I told you guys, I’m like, ‘Hey, my favorite podcast is Mixergy, you guys should go listen to it.” How much value is in that? Not much, right. But if I was like, “There’s this one interview that Andrew did and in the interview he started talking to the guy and he literally, the guy showed three different websites that were the key to ‘blah, blah, blah’ and I listened to those things and found the websites. I never knew they existed. I started doing the thing, and that’s how we got Clickfunnels to whatever.” If I tell you that, you’re like, “Oh my gosh, I want to hear that podcast.” I’m like, “Cool, when you sign up for my thing right now, I’m going to give you a link directly to that podcast so you can find it.” You curating stuff for people there’s value in that. YouTube videos, I’ve done it tons of times with opt ins where we’re like, “Opt in here to get a free video from Robert Kiyosaki teaching the number one tax strategy for middle aged Americans.” And I just found a video on YouTube of Robert Kiyosaki teaching the number one thing on whatever, and that’s what I give people when they opt in. So you curating stuff you think is cool, can be bundled into offers as well. Okay, so there’s the audio ones. Really quick, so audio books, interviewing other people and compiling hard to find audios is a big thing. The last one I’m going to go through really quickly is video. There is a program, how many of you guys here use Windows? How many of you guys use Macs? Holy cow. Okay, there’s a program. If you are using Windows you should be using Camtasia, if you’re using Mac, use Screen Flow. This tool has made me and probably most people more money than anything else on earth. It just records whatever is happening on your screen. So you make a presentation or slides, or literally the very first version of Funnel Hacks training, the one that got us from zero to ten thousand customers, I had a word document opened on the screen with my notes, on the right hand side, I had a little picture. I just clicked record on Screen Flow and I talked for an hour as I read through my outline. We did like $10 million plus dollars in sales, and that was what the product looked like. “But Russell, I have a professional video studio.” You don’t need one, just get a microphone, screen flow or camtasia, record your screen, have a presentation and just teach it. It’s super easy, it’s simple. It’s like the easiest thing in the world to do. Number two video thing, just get your iphone out. Literally you can just get your phone out and just make videos. Where is Rachel at? Is she in the room right now? We were on, did you finish the course, by the way? Can I talk about that? So Rachel, we were on this little cruise thing after the 10x event and she came up to me and she’s like, “I have an idea, it’s going to be a course called Selfie Secrets” Am I going to ruin this? “I’m going to record the whole thing on my iphone.” And then she the next day, recorded the entire course on her phone teaching the entire course, which is amazing. And it was all on her phone. Okay, so how many of you guys have a phone. You have everything you need. You guys should all buy her course when it goes live. And the last thing is you should throw a workshop, teaching people stuff. You don’t even have to speak, you can bring other speakers to teach for you. When I first got started, I didn’t have any product to sell. So the first thing I did, I threw a workshop. And it was really exciting to have a workshop, I was pumped about it, but I had nobody coming and so I emailed my tiny list at the time and said, “I’m doing a workshop, it’s $5000 a ticket.” And then the first day nobody bought, and the second day nobody bought. And the third day one guy bought. And at first I was like, “Yeah!’ and then I was like, “Oh crap, now I have to do a workshop and there’s only one person coming. This is awkward.” Then luckily 2 other people bought. So I had three people buy. I was like, “Okay, now we have a workshop with three people.” So I called everybody I knew, my friends, my family, everybody. I was like, “Okay, I’m doing a workshop, people paid to be here. You have to come and just sit in the audience and don’t tell them you didn’t pay, because I need this to look good on video or it’s going to be super embarrassing.” So we set it up, we had it all set, and it was like not like this, it was really bad. We literally had curtains, the windows behind me were too bright, so we got sheets from the bedrooms, and electrical taped sheets over the, it’s so bad. But we recorded and that became the very first course I ever sold, the videos from us at the holiday inn, with electrical tape over the sheets, literally behind me the entire video and it looked amazing. So throw a workshop, even if nobody comes to it, or just invite your friends. Do something at your house, bring people in, just record yourself teaching your thing, and you can bundle that really, really quickly. So for videos, we’ve got screen captures, iphones, and workshops. So here’s a quick recap of the nine ideas. Crowd sourcing books, compiling examples, public domain, audiobooks, interviewing, compile hard to find audios, screen captures, iphones, and workshops. Tons of easy ways to do that quickly. So what I want to do right now, is I want to actually, I’m trying to think if we should do this or not. I’m going to let you guys do this on your own, but in your paper that I handed out, I have this little section here for you guys to figure out, what are potential products I could bundle inside of my offer? This is something we do all the time. Every time we have a new product that comes out, I talked about this last year, we have bat meetings. We literally send out a bat signal to voxer to everyone on our marketing team, we all come on zoom, from wherever they’re at around the world, and they get in front of a whiteboard and we’re like, “What could we create from this product? We could put this in it, and this…” and just start dumping out as many ideas as we can. So now you guys have, let’s say I’m selling this product, “what else could we do?” “We could interview this guy, I could compile these things here, I could do this, I could make a video, I could do a workshop, we could do….” And all these things you can quickly create to turn this into an offer. Now really quick, I guarantee I know the number one thing going through some of your heads right now is, “Russell, that’s cool for all the coaches and the consultants and the info product people, but not for me. I’m different. I sell real stuff. I sell physical products.” Or, “I have a local business.” Or whatever your excuse is right now. I want to shatter these excuses because the biggest thing that’s going to keep you guys from having success over this week, is the thought of, “Oh, this doesn’t apply to me.” I’m excited, I think either tomorrow or the next day, we’re going to have Jaime Cross who’s going to be coming up here and speaking. Jaime is amazing because two years ago she came to Funnel Hacking Live, she was sitting in the audience, and she sells soap. And I was on the stage talking about webinars. I’m doing this huge thing about webinars and stories, this whole thing. And every other ecommerce person, I’m guessing, in the audience is like, “This is not for me because I sell physical products.” And Jaime said, “How could I make this work for me.” Twelve months later she’s on the stage getting a two comma club award. Twelve months later she’s onstage sharing her story with you. She took this concept of the webinar and made an ecommerce webinar. She took it and didn’t say, ‘This isn’t going to work for me.” But “How can I make this work for me?” And shifted some things and made it work for her and blew up her company. I’m so excited for her to tell her whole story. But I want you guys thinking the same thing. So I’m going to some examples right now. This is a product that I sell. This is a physical product called Viagon. How many of you guys have ever seen this before? The three people on my team. So back in the day when I launched 15 companies in a year, which is a horrible idea, don’t do that, one of them was this thing right here. I had a friend who had this company and he was getting in trouble and this little machine here, if you start getting a cold sore, as you as you feel it, how many of you guys get cold sores? You feel it tingle, you pull this out, if I can open it. This is a new one so the seal hasn’t been cut yet. Alright, then you peel the seal off. Alright so when you open this thing up, when you feel the cold sore coming on, come on. There we go. Alright you open it up and there’s these two little electroids, and you take and push the button, and let’s say you have a cold sore, you put it on your cold sore, and somehow, I don’t know how, some scientists figured out something. It’s actually patented and everything. It goes in and zaps the cold sore, destroys it, kicks it in the face and destroys it and the cold sore never shows up. Isn’t that awesome? How many of you guys want one of these right now? Really, I gotta get my funnel back up. So this is a physical product I sell, right. And you’re like, “Well Russell, I don’t sell information. This isn’t going to work for me.” But imagine if I did this, how do I turn this into an offer? This is a physical product, it does what it does. It’s just a thing. And the guy who I buy these from, he sells it to other people, so I’m not the only one. It’s a commodity. There’s like 30 other people who sell this same thing, only mine’s better. So for me, how do I compete over everyone else, when everyone’s got the exact same thing, it does the exact same thing. So I have to turn this from a commodity into an offer, because if it’s a commodity, I gotta be like, “He’s selling it for $150, I’m going to sell it for $130.” Then the next guy says, “I’ll sell it for $120.” “Crap. $110.” “$109” “$105” Boom, boom, boom, soon this thing is like $90.95 right, retail. That’s the problem when products are commodities. Or I could say, “Okay, this is amazing. This helps with cold sores, but what else could I do with cold sores? What else could I do? What else could I do?” I could go on Amazon and be like, “Cold sore cures and remedies.” And I guarantee there’s people on Amazon who have written books on how to do cold sores. I could message one and be like, “Hey man, you are the definitive expert on cold sores, can I interview you talking about all the tricks you know how to prevent cold sores from happening? I’m sure there’s stuff in your diet and exercise, right?” like, “Oh yes.’ So I get him on the phone and I interview him, now it’s like, “Okay, when you buy from anybody you get the same thing, but when you buy from me you get the cold sore inhibiter, plus you also get the interview with this dude over here who’s the number one highest stars on Amazon, writer of a cold sore book. You get his book as well, plus my interview where I actually interviewed him. And then number three, there are 7 supplements I’ve found that help get rid of cold sores. 7. There’s a whole bunch of people who claim the supplements, but there are actually 7 that work, and there’s two that work almost instantly. The second you feel a cold sore coming, you pop these two pills, gone instantly. And I wrote a report about those, because I want to make sure you get the right ones, if you get the wrong one, you get the right product but you get the wrong brand, you are screwed. So I’m going to show you the 7 supplements as well. So you get this first, plus you’re going to get the interview with the number one expert in the world, plus you’re going to get the 7 supplements, the actual brand names, where to buy them, how to get the discounts to all the 7 supplements. And the next thing you’re going to get is, blah, blah, blah.” I take a physical product and I’m bundling information around it to increase the value of the thing. So it doesn’t matter if you’re selling information or not, if you’re selling physical products, it’s the same thing. Information is the easiest way to bundle this. The problem though with infomercials, the only way they bundle is like, “If you call now, I’ll give you another one for free.” That’s what almost all ecommerce people do. It’s like, that’s good but its, “Now I got two of these things. So I have cold sores I can have one at my house and one at my office. That’s kind of weird.” But if I bundle with information products, it doesn’t increase the cost to you at all, but dramatically increases the value. Now when I’m competing with the 30 other people selling this, I can sell it for higher and people will still buy from me versus everybody else because my offer is better than theirs. Another good example of this is my friend Mr. Stephen Larsen. How many of you guys know Stephen? So this is a good example for any of you guys who are like, ‘I’m here Russell, but I don’t have a product yet.” So Stephen he has his own products, but he’s also an affiliate for Clickfunnels, he’s an affiliate for a bunch of other things. So we did the one funnel away launch, the 10x launch, a couple other things, he said, “Okay, Russell already created an amazing offer that he’s selling, but there’s a thousand other affiliates that are all selling this product as well. Everyone’s doing it, so how do I compete against this.” He said, “Okay, here’s Russell’s offer, how can I make my own offer to make it better?” People always ask me, “How can I make money as an affiliate, Russell?” The first thing you do is you don’t sell the product that they’re already selling. That’s like, “Buy Russell’s thing.” That’s like number one on your list, then it’s like, “Now I need to make my own offer.” How many of you guys bought the one funnel away challenge from somebody and then bought it again from Stephen later because you wanted his bonus? Okay how many of you guys have bought twice from Stephen because you wanted the new bonus the second time? There’s a lesson in this. So even if you don’t have a product yet, that’s okay. Find someone else with a product and then, “How can I now make an amazing offer? What could I bundle together to increase the value of this offer so people buy from me versus somebody else? Or if they did buy from somebody else, they’ll also buy from me because my offer is so valuable.” Alright, so this is kind of the exercise for you guys to start doing. Going through here and listing out all the different ideas you can have. So tonight, this weekend with that paper I handed out, start writing out these things, start putting them out there, and start putting as many as you can think of, and make it, the biggest problem you can have is you’re kind of putting in your potential products that are going to make an offer, is to be like, “Oh, that’s not going to work. That’s not going to work.” When you start it, be creative. When we first did this probably 12 years ago, we sat in front of a whiteboard and we were doing this and we were like, we were at a point where we needed a funnel to save us from everything. It was the bottom of everything. We were like, ‘We have to make the most irresistible offer ever or else we’re shutting the doors.” So we sat in front of a whiteboard and I’m like, ‘Okay, what can we give them? Okay, they can fly to my house and I will give them a massage and feed them food, and then we’re going to do this, and then we’re going to do this….” We made all this crazy stuff, we had it all on the whiteboard, and then we started saying, “What’s the offer actually going to be?” and we’re like, “Well, pretty sure my wife would be mad if I come to my house and had to give them massages. So let’s not do that one.” But it was there. And then it’s like, “Well, what if we did this and this…” It gave us the time to brainstorm and then from there we start pulling things over to actually make an amazing offer. Anytime I create a new funnel, new thing, I’m always looking at creating an offer, with as many potential things as possible, then think, “What can I actually create?” pull them into my little stack slide and it’s like, “Now I know what I need to create to increase the software.” Now, one thing I want to mention is well, the reason why I have a whole bunch of things as well is because there’s more than just one offer in every funnel. You guys understand that? So I need a lot of stuff that I can give away. So if you look at this right here, there’s an offer on my ad. I’m trying to get someone to click on something. So I’m like, “Click on this thing and I’m going to give you your free report.” There’s an offer happening there. Luckily that was one of my ideas that I already created, because I can now pull that down and it becomes this. Then they land on my landing page and I’m like, “I need their email address, I’m trading them. What am I going to have? Well I have something up here I’ve already created, potential products. I’m going to give them my interview with so and so.” “Give me your email address and I’ll give you an interview with so and so.” Boom there’s the next product. Then it’s like, “Now buy this product, I’m going to give you these 5 things.” Then my upsell is these three or four things. I think so many of us go into this thinking, “Okay, here’s the product I’m going to sell and I’m going to try and build a funnel around it.” And it’s like, no, no, no. Understand that it’s like, you’re looking at more of how do you serve your customers? What are all the things you could possibly give them to do that, and then you’re breaking down the different parts of the funnel. Okay, alright, come back to the hook, story, offer. So that was the offer section of this part.

Understanding the difference between strategy and tactics can mean everything in your business. On today's episode Russell shares the difference between tactics and strategy after an attendee at Funnel Hacking Live complained about the content of day one. He tells why strategy is the key and tactic is just an element. Here are some interesting things to listen for in this episode: Why an attendee at Funnel Hacking Live was unhappy with day one at the event, and why he's not seeing the gold Russell has given him. Why it's important to know the difference between tactics and strategy. And how if you follow an overall strategy, the tactics will still be there, but you can earn 15x more money. So listen below to hear what someone else had to say about Funnel Hacking Live, and why Russell thinks he's wrong. ---Transcript--- What's up everybody? This is Russell, I am out taking the garbage out, Sunday night. And it's a beautiful night, a little chilly, but looking out there's a really cool ski hill called Bogus Basin here in Idaho. Anyway, where my house is at and I'm taking garbage out, I go out and I can see the mountain and the mountain is all dark and where the ski hill is, is all lit up and looks insanely cool. So that's kind of fun right now. But I had a quick message for you guys because I just wanted to make sure everyone's paying attention. Because I feel like sometimes you can show people gold. Be like, “Hey, here's gold. You want some?” and the smart people see that and they're like, “Oh sweet.” And they take it. And there's other people who say, “That's not real gold. I didn't want gold. I wanted platinum. I came for diamonds, why are you trying to give me gold.” I'm like, “Dude, there's gold. You can sell it and buy diamonds.” So let me explain this metaphor. Funnel Hacking Live last week, insane. Those of you there, you know, you experienced it. It was just amazing. And we're starting planning next year's and I think I finally figured out a way, took me three days, but I think I figured out a way to make it better than last time. I'm not sure yet, but I'm excited to try. That's going to be in time, I got a year to plan it, so that's going to be sweet. But it was an awesome event and of the three days, day one was probably my favorite day because I think what I got to share got me most excited. I shared the first section of the book, which is how to build a mass movement. Went into all the strategy and the tactics behind how to do that. I wanted to break those out, because there's two different things, strategy and tactics. Then I had a chance to go into the story. We talked about epiphany bridge stories. I showed the strategy and tactics behind that. Then Brandon and Kaelin spoke the first day. Jim Edwards spoke the first day, it was awesome. All the days were good, but the first day was, I was most excited about what I taught the first day. Anyway, that was good, I thought. For those who were there, it was good right? Pretty amazing? It's basically a year, more than a year, deep year of my thought, what I've been trying to really show and teach and coach everybody through. And what the new book's going to be really going deep into. So it was also a big preface for the Expert Secrets book which is coming out April 18th. So anyway, most people were there and they got that and went and ran away with it. But then one of my buddies, one of my friends showed me the other day some post that one of the guys at the event posted in his private members area. I know who this guy is, I've been watching him for a while, he's been doing some cool things. But his business isn't that big yet,  he's kind of……I won't make fun of him publicly, I might later. We'll stop for now. In his members group he posted, he said, “Day one of Funnel Hacking Live was stupid. Not a single tactic was taught. Blah, blah, blah.” Dropped like 5 or 6 F-bombs in this thing. I was just like, I'm glad it was after the event, because I would have called the dude out on stage and embarrassed him in front of everyone, which would have been amazing. I kind of wish I had that now. But instead I saw it like two days ago. I was like, “What? Day one?” It's funny, day two he came up to me afterwards and said, “I'm joining your Inner Circle, man. This has changed my life.” Did the whole thing. By the afternoon day two he had a change of heart, but after day one he was frustrated apparently because I didn't teach enough tactics. So a couple of things. First off, what you must understand is that tactics are good. Tactics are like the tricks you use to do things. But tactics in and of themselves are not that powerful. In fact, I think, when I first met Jay Abraham and Rick Shephard and the guys, they used to talk about this. Talk about how strategy is more important than tactics, and I used to think that were not smart. Because I'm like, “No, these tactics, these tricks, these tools, these things are the secret.” And as I've gotten older, in my old age, and I've shifted from being stuck at 2 or 3 million dollars a year, to shifting to 30 million dollars a year and beyond. Hopefully this year we'll hit 80 or 90 million, and mass growth. Bigger than anyone I know of in our industry. The big differentiation that took me from 2 or 3 million dollars a year to ten time that, it wasn't the next tactic. It was the strategy, the strategy behind it. As I'm on stage teaching how to build a mass movement, I'm talking about the strategy of how you build a mass movement. This is how you get people to follow you, this is how I went from 3 million dollars, to two years later 30 million dollars in a year. The difference was not a magic tactic. And I showed tactics, I showed the different tactics, but it was the core strategy. When you understand the strategy there's a lot of tactics inside of it, but understand the strategy is the key. So we're showing the strategy to everybody and I'm just hoping that you guys weren't like this dude looking at this gold and being like, “but I came here for diamonds.” Dude, are you kidding me, take the gold I give you and go sell it and buy some diamonds if that's what you really want. Don't miss out on the lesson because you came thinking you were looking for something else. If there's someone that's showing you something, don't be like….I was the same way. So I'm throwing myself as being guilty of this too. When I first talked to Shephard and Abraham, those guys who were way ahead of me strategically thinking, I used to make fun of them thinking they were dumb. Just like this guy was doing for me. I'm like, no when I understood it; I respected and understood that I gotta figure out the strategy. The tactics are always there, the tactics will fit inside of any strategy, but the strategy is the key. That's what expands your growth. And then, come on now, epiphany bridge story, the hero's two journeys, that's all tactical. Come on now. I'll leave that there. What I wanted to talk about is, as I was thinking through this, is I want to kind of tie in the tactic and strategy and all that kind of stuff. When I got started, whenever it was, 14 years ago, my first mentor was Mark Joyner, he always told me, “You gotta build a list, you gotta build a list.” Which is a strategy right. At the time there were a whole bunch of different strategies people were chasing. There was AdSense stuff, The was Google AdWords, there was Arbitros, there were all these different ways to make money. And Mark was my first mentor and luckily I listened to him by the shiny objects flying around me like crazy. So I started building a list, building a list, like he told me to. And I did that and it was funny, a couple years later Mike Filsaime came out with, he kind of coined this originally, a lot of people say it since, but the first time I heard it, it was from Mike. He said, “You should average one dollar per month, per name on your email list.” I was like, okay, that's a cool metric. I started looking back at what I was doing and it was interesting how close my business at that point had followed that. I had a thousand people on my list, I was making about a thousand a month, when I had ten thousand on my list I made ten thousand a month, when I had a hundred thousand on my list I was making a hundred thousand a month. It was eerie. Is that a word? How close that number stayed. For me, I started focusing on the strategy is building a list. What are the tactics to build a list? I kept focusing on tactic, tactic, tactic to build a list. My list kept growing and my income would grow with it, but I didn't have the huge shift. When we started shifting, I was telling this, last week, I can't remember if I told you guys this or not. Dean Graziosi did this big book launch and he invited the top ten or fifteen affiliates to his office. So I flew down there Thursday and hung out, it was amazing. It was an amazing group. I could go on for days about all the people and what I learned. I got some amazing stuff that I will show you guys in the next few months. If you watch, you'll see some of the stuff I learned from that group. But what was interesting is, when I got there to talk, they wanted me to talk 30 minutes on whatever I thought was the biggest, most impactful thing in my business over the last few months. What did I share with them? I shared building a cult-ure. I talked about the three things. The thing I talked about first session of our group, we talked about charismatic leader, future based cause, and then new opportunity, which is the key. That's the core strategy. What's interesting is, I wasn't planning on talking but when I got up on stage, I don't know if you've done this when you've gotten on stage. Things pop into your head sometimes, so I got up in front of this group and the first thing that popped into my head was the Send out Cards event I went to 7, 8  or 9 years ago. I remember going to this event all excited to learn network marketing and see how these guys do everything. And I was confused when I got there, to be honest. Nobody taught anything. I remember, the first day they gave awards to almost everyone in the group and they had people win cars, they had recognition, told stories, people crying about how sending cards changed their lives. And it was so confusing to me. I remember afterwards sitting there talking to David Frey, he probably doesn't even remember this, but it had a huge impact on me. I was like, “Dude, nobody taught anything.” And he said, “You know what the craziest thing is Russell? They're a software company. That's it. They're a software, but what have they done different? What was the strategy?” The tactic is how to build a software company, but what is the strategy? He didn't say that, but I was thinking what is the strategy? And we started talking and he said, “They're a software company, but look what they built around it, it's a movement. There's people, this is a way of life for people now.” And I was thinking about it, send out cards, I love the guys who own that, it's a cool company, but their software is not that good. There are thousands of better card editors out there. But they built a movement of people and that's why that company did so well. So when I was launching Clickfunnels that kept ringing in my head from David Frey. They're just a software company. I'm like, “I'm building a software company.” I could have gone, what's the tactic to build a software company. No, step back. What's the strategy? How do these guys do it? They didn't say, let's build a software company. That wasn't what they were doing; they were looking at the strategy of it. So as we launched Clickfunnels, I knew we were going to compete against, Infusionsoft, Leadpages, and all these crappy software products, and I was like, I don't want this to become a battle of who's got what feature. I want to build a movement. I want people, I want to build the best software in the world, and luckily I've got the partners that are able to do that, which is insanely cool. But I was like. Even if our software sucked, I still gotta out market everyone else.  Because I want them to follow us because we're a movement, not because we're a software company. If you were at Funnel Hacking Live, you remember Ryan Montgomery, our CTO, he got up there and said, “hey guys, we're not a technology company, we're a marketing company. We're building technology, the technology behind it to make us be able to market, which gives you the ability to market.” That's the big differentiator, that's why we're taking on the SASS companies that are fighting us on features and we're thrashing them because we're building a movement. And that's the strategy. So I started looking at that, and I looked at our numbers over the last two years, and what's funny, is for 8 years in my business, our metrics were one dollar per name per month on our list. And I look at our numbers now and I gotta do the math real quick in my head. But we are closer to probably 14 or 15 dollars per name per month on our email list. So we 15x'd it. Same people, same list building tactics to get people in, but the strategy shifted. What happened when we shifted the strategy? 15x, instead of one dollar per name per month on our email list, we make $15 per name per month on our email address, by shifting the strategy and the strategy was how do we build a movement? We're not a software company, we're building a movement. I wanted people coming to Clickfunnels like they came to Send out Cards on stage crying because they send a card and it changed someone's life. I don't want them coming and talking about how much money they made. That's the difference. I just wanted to share that because I know sometimes we get caught up in what's the new tactic. Some of my close friends are running an event this weekend coming up, and the difference, you go to that event and what do they do. There's all these people on stage sharing tactics, and some people love that, but that's not what wins wars. Tactics are the gun and the shot gun and rifle that you go out there, but if you got a bad strategy you're going to lose. So take a step back, look at the strategy and understand that, and hopefully this helps you understand the difference between strategy and tactics. How the tactics are good, but you switch to strategy and get that correct, 15x growth, going from 3 million to 30 million in  24 months. What's the difference? It's not changing my tactics, the tactics were all the same, it was the strategy behind it. I hope that you guys get that. With that said, my fingers are freezing. I should have worn gloves out here. I'm going back inside. Appreciate you all, tomorrow I'm going to go finish…..Friday I spent the whole day recording the audio version of the Expert Secrets book and tomorrow I'm going to finish the last third. I drive out there, I have a message I want to share with you guys, but I'll save that for tomorrow. Thanks everybody, have a great night and we'll talk to you guys soon.

My list kept growing and my income would grow with it, but I didn’t have the huge shift. When we started shifting, I was telling this, last week, I can’t remember if I told you guys this or not. If you watch, you’ll see some of the stuff I learned from that group. That’s the core strategy. What’s interesting is, I wasn’t planning on talking but when I got up on stage, I don’t know if you’ve done this when you’ve gotten on stage. I remember afterwards sitting there talking to David Frey, he probably doesn’t even remember this, but it had a huge impact on me. I was like, “Dude, nobody taught anything.” And he said, “You know what the craziest thing is Russell? They’re a software company. That’s it. They’re a software, but what have they done different? What was the strategy?” The tactic is how to build a software company, but what is the strategy? He didn’t say that, but I was thinking what is the strategy? And we started talking and he said, “They’re a software company, but look what they built around it, it’s a movement. There’s people, this is a way of life for people now.” And I was thinking about it, send out cards, I love the guys who own that, it’s a cool company, but their software is not that good. There are thousands of better card editors out there. But they built a movement of people and that’s why that company did so well. So when I was launching Clickfunnels that kept ringing in my head from David Frey. They’re just a software company. I’m like, “I’m building a software company.” I could have gone, what’s the tactic to build a software company. No, step back. What’s the strategy? How do these guys do it? They didn’t say, let’s build a software company. That wasn’t what they were doing; they were looking at the strategy of it. So as we launched Clickfunnels, I knew we were going to compete against, Infusionsoft, Leadpages, and all these crappy software products, and I was like, I don’t want this to become a battle of who’s got what feature. I want to build a movement. I want people, I want to build the best software in the world, and luckily I’ve got the partners that are able to do that, which is insanely cool. But I was like. Even if our software sucked, I still gotta out market everyone else.  Because I want them to follow us because we’re a movement, not because we’re a software company. If you were at Funnel Hacking Live, you remember Ryan Montgomery, our CTO, he got up there and said, “hey guys, we’re not a technology company, we’re a marketing company. We’re building technology, the technology behind it to make us be able to market, which gives you the ability to market.” That’s the big differentiator, that’s why we’re taking on the SASS companies that are fighting us on features and we’re thrashing them because we’re building a movement. And that’s the strategy. So I started looking at that, and I looked at our numbers over the last two years, and what’s funny, is for 8 years in my business, our metrics were one dollar per name per month on our list. And I look at our numbers now and I gotta do the math real quick in my head. But we are closer to probably 14 or 15 dollars per name per month on our email list. So we 15x’d it. Same people, same list building tactics to get people in, but the strategy shifted. What happened when we shifted the strategy? 15x, instead of one dollar per name per month on our email list, we make $15 per name per month on our email address, by shifting the strategy and the strategy was how do we build a movement? We’re not a software company, we’re building a movement. I wanted people coming to Clickfunnels like they came to Send out Cards on stage crying because they send a card and it changed someone’s life. I don’t want them coming and talking about how much money they made. That’s the difference. I just wanted to share that because I know sometimes we get caught up in what’s the new tactic. Some of my close friends are running an event this weekend coming up, and the difference, you go to that event and what do they do. There’s all these people on stage sharing tactics, and some people love that, but that’s not what wins wars. Tactics are the gun and the shot gun and rifle that you go out there, but if you got a bad strategy you’re going to lose. So take a step back, look at the strategy and understand that, and hopefully this helps you understand the difference between strategy and tactics. How the tactics are good, but you switch to strategy and get that correct, 15x growth, going from 3 million to 30 million in  24 months. What’s the difference? It’s not changing my tactics, the tactics were all the same, it was the strategy behind it. I hope that you guys get that. With that said, my fingers are freezing. I should have worn gloves out here. I’m going back inside. Appreciate you all, tomorrow I’m going to go finish…..Friday I spent the whole day recording the audio version of the Expert Secrets book and tomorrow I’m going to finish the last third. I drive out there, I have a message I want to share with you guys, but I’ll save that for tomorrow. Thanks everybody, have a great night and we’ll talk to you guys soon.

Understand who you're competing against in this game, or else you're going to lose. On today's episode Russell talks about looking at competing in business the same way he would compete during his wrestling days. He views business as a sport and he has figured out how he's going to beat the competition. Here are some of the fun things in this episode: How being an athlete on the playground has prepared Russell to go against his competition in business. How an underdog can still beat the company on steroids (venture capitalists). And why you need to start looking at business like a sport if you're ever going to be able to beat the other guys. So listen below to find out why Russell is in it to win it when it comes to business. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson, I hope you guys are doing good. I'm actually taking the trash out right now. That's what that wheeling sound, that's the trashcan being wheeled. But this is going to be a crazy week. I thought I'd hang out with you guys before I get started on it. Tomorrow is Monday morning, and Monday is basically the week before Funnel Hacking Live starts. Technically it starts on Tuesday, but Pre-registration starts a week from tomorrow. So Tomorrow is when I get to start doing all my presentations. Yes, I wait til the last week to do my presentations. You want to know why? Because the stuff we were doing six months ago, even a month ago has changed. So I want to make sure I have the most up to date content of all time at any given moment. That's the reason why. That's one of the reasons. The other reason is I just haven't had time. But that's plenty of time to get everything done and make it amazing. I know what I'm going to talk about, I just gotta get all the slides and examples and case studies and all that kind of stuff and put it together in a really cool way. Hopefully you guys can hear me. It's kind of loud, the trashcan. But I am….hold on a second I'm going to… Alright, this might be the only episode of Marketing while you're taking the trashcan out. I'm out here and it's cool, it's super dark, we just got new neighbors that built a house across the street. We're on a really dark street where there's not lights at all. Their house is lit up really cool and the moon is….I wish you could see it. It's pitch black, it's way off in the distance, right above the mountains there's this glowing thing that looks misty and foggy over it. It's pretty amazing. Anyway, I'm excited because all the snow has been melting that we've had. We've had so much snow this winter. Then it rained three days last week and it all melted. And we're back to where I can see the grass everywhere and it's so exciting. Anyway, tonight was really fun, we went to church and then had meetings after church and then went out with the kids, went and played in the wrestling room, jumped on the tramp which is freezing cold, then jumped in the hot tub which is super warm and now we put them to bed. My wife's actually in there putting them to bed. I snuck out to put out the trash because they wear me out those little buggars. I love them, but they wear me out. Anyway, Funnel Hacking Live is a week away, which is crazy. It's interesting, last week we had our FHAT event, here in Boise in our new office, which is super fun and I just have this bad habit of booking way too many things all at the same time. But it's been fun. There's something with finishing the book and creating everything for the FHAT event, and everything for the Funnel Hacking Live event, where all these concepts and things we're talking about right now are becoming so clear. I don't know if you guys have done that where you've had the chance to go through a really deep immersion. It's weird all these connections get made that don't when you're dabbling and goofing around. That's why I think people should go really deep when they're becoming a master at what they're trying to do. You know, become unbalanced for a while, spending insane amounts of time. But it's been interesting, one of the fun things I've been thinking about. My dad came to town last weekend as well, which is awesome. I was thinking about business as a whole, it's such a weird I don't know, playground is the word that pops in my head, I don't know if that's the right word. It's this weird playground where you go to school, and there's all these different types of kids. There's the athletes over here, then there's the people that are in band, and then there's the drama kids, and then there's the skaters, and then there's…..there's all these different groups at the playground. When you typically go out there, you go and play with the people that fit in your mold. So I go play with the athletes. We play basketball, football. Competing against each other, trying to win. That's what drove us at recess, but I'm guessing the other groups probably didn't do that. They were, I don't know what the other groups were doing. But I'm assuming, because we would play games with all the kids, but as I got older, I focused on wrestling and that became my thing and it was a deep passion of how do I become the best. At first I wanted to be the best in the state. After I was State Champ I was like, I want to be best in the country. And my senior year of high school I took second place in the country. Then I was like, I want to be the best in college, in the country. And I never hit that goal. I guess technically I didn't hit the best in the country in high school either, I almost, I was two points away from that. College I was like, I want to be an all American, I want to be a national champ, and I didn't get those goals, but I always knew that's the person I have to beat. I was aware of them, I looked at them and I watched their matches and I studied them and looked what they were doing and I understood them. I understood their moves and what drove them so that I could beat them. And I was always aware of the people I had to beat. And that was just like, as an athlete, how I viewed the world and business, not business but things. I mean, for almost two decades of my life, that's what it was. Here's where I'm at, who's above me, I gotta find those people, figure them out, and beat them. And that's what I understood. And I always assume that that's how everybody thought. But I guess, back at the playground, I'm guessing the band kids didn't do that. They hung out and played music together, they had a good time. The drama kids, they made plays together and had a good time. And then the skaters, they skated. You know, I don't know all the different cliques and stuff, but everybody did their thing. I always assumed that everyone thought the way that I did. Because that was the only world I knew. And it's been interesting as I've come into business, because for me business was the next sport. I got into business, I mean I was learning about it in college when I was wrestling. My senior year, I didn't hit my goals. I fell short, and in fact I didn't even qualify for the national tournament, which destroyed me. And it would have destroyed me if I didn't have the next thing. For me, business I was dabbling in and that became my next sport. It was like, here's the sport, I got to figure out. And it's interesting, the concepts of funnel hacking and the stuff that I share with people, you know how I always talk about I look at people successful and I model them, and I did, but it was different from that. For me it was a sport, I came in and this is the….I'm on a new playground looking around. Who are the kids that are winning? And the people I saw at the time were Armand Morin, Alex Mandossian, Mark Joyner, David Frey, these are all the guys I saw who were successful. So for me it was like, okay what are those guys doing? It was just like wrestling. I would look at them, scout them, watch them, study and learn and figure out what makes them tick. And then when I understand that, then I go and compete against them. In wrestling I have a match, and someday I'm going to come face to face, we're going to walk out on the mat under the lights. I'm going to put my shoes on and it's going to be me and them and that's it. And if I haven't done my homework, I'm going to look like an idiot. But in business it was weird because I would study these guys and try to figure out how to compete with them and be successful like they were and that was my whole thing, and I was racing towards that. But what's weird in business, we never got that moment where we step on the mat and shake hands and go and find out who prepared more. It was weird, I became friends with people and our businesses were together and I learned this cooperation stuff that I'm guessing they probably taught at the playground with the kids in the band, and the kids, the other groups that all played together. For business it was fun because I collaborated and I had that, but in my mind, I don't know about you, but I always had from day one….I remember actually, I don't know if I've ever publicly said this out loud, but for me, I've always been very aware of where I visualize myself in the totem pole in my market, where are people at? Where up and down, that's just how my brain works. And when I pass somebody, I'm aware of that. And when I know who's ahead of me, I'm aware of that. When I know that, I study those people, I figure them out and I try to beat them. That's just how I'm wired. It's been interesting, as I've gotten into, as our business has been growing, I would say in our market, I don't think there's any businesses that are really bigger than us right now. Outside of a couple of companies that have taken on venture capitalists. They've got millions of dollars dumped into them, which is the equivalent of steroids. Honestly, in sports that cheating, but business it's like, “Aww yes, someone gave us 14 million dollars, now we can cheat.” It's just ridiculous. For me, I'm looking out and we've got these dudes that got steroids, they're cheating, but I got to compete against the, but I'm very aware. In my mind it's very clear, the companies I'm going after. And it shouldn't be too hard for you guys that follow me to know, because we make fun of them a lot. But I'm aware of it, I study and figure out what they're doing right and wrong, what the weaknesses are and then we're attacking them. It's been interesting because as I've been doing that, the kids at the playground who grew up in band class, and that grew up in drama and as skaters and all these other things, they're not used to it. And those are the guys I'm competing against. And it's interesting because they don't handle the heat well. We got in a…… For me this is a sport. Business is nothing but a sport for me. It's like, who do I need to beat? We're going and attacking and we're going to beat them. Otherwise, what's the point of this whole thing? Yes, we're helping people and that part is amazing on this journey. But there's not, that's who I need to beat, what's the point of it? It's hard for me otherwise. Anyway, someone that I kind of ruffled their feathers, I actually thought through this podcast, interestingly enough. But they messaged me and kind of told me off, because they didn't like what I'm doing. Because I'm aggressive and I'm not playing like they're used to playing. What they told me, they said my dad taught me never to burn bridges. And I didn't send this back, but I wanted to. I thought, that's interesting because my dad taught me how to win and that's all that matters to me, is winning. Anyway, I told that story at the FHAT event, and people thought I was pretty, everyone was laughing. But that's how I feel. I'm very aware of who I am going after. And I don't publicly. In fact, Dan Usher is here making some videos for us and I was showing the offer we're creating, there's one other person who's had more success in this, I'm not going to say their name. But there's one person who's had more success than me in this field where this book is. And I was showing Dan those videos and I was like, “That's who I'm going against. That's who I'm competing against. That's who we have to beat.” He's like, “I thought you guys were friends.” And I'm like, “We are friends, but it doesn't matter.” I was friends with people on the wrestling mat, but when it comes to sports I have to win. I'm going after them. I'm not sitting around and trying to be nice. My goal is to win. Flat out. And I want to make sure that everybody understands that. What's cool, is during this process I'm making friends and all these kinds of things, but it's a sport for me. Very clear cut. This is a sport. And I have people I'm competing against and I'm going to win. And it's interesting, because these other people aren't used to that, and they are used to that, they've never been under the lights, with your shoes tied up and it's you and them and no one else going head to head. And I am, I'm used to it. I love it, I thrive off it. I need it, I desire it. I crave for that. So it makes this game interesting because the way that people are beating us right now is through the most part, venture capitalists, steroids. So it just drives me more. Yes, okay. You're going to cheat with steroids, that's fine. I'm still going to win, I'm going to take you down and we're going to choke you out and we're going to turn you to your back and you're going to get pinned. And that's how I view business. I just want, I don't know, I want to instill that into you guys. A lot of you guys out there were athletes, you were the kids on the playground who went through that and experienced it, and that's your drive. For some of you guys it's not. You have to understand when you step in the business world, that's who you're playing against. You're playing against athletes. People who that's their goal. So when I come, when you come into your business and look at your market, you need to be fully aware. Where do you sit on the totem pole? Are you JV or Varsity? First team or second team? Where in the state or country? Because if you're not aware of that, how do you win if you don't know who you're playing against? Somebody told me the other day, after the FHAT event, “One thing I discovered after being around you for the last three days is how aware you are of all the competitors in your market.” And I thought it was interesting, because I am very, very aware. I know what they're all doing. I'm watching them. And the things that I like, we use. And the things we don't, we counter attack against them. You'll see more and more of that throughout this year as we are aggressively going after our competitors and we're going to surpass them through raw talent and skill instead of venture capitalists cash, which is amazing. You know, I wrestled kids that were on steroids before and it's interesting, they come out and have big muscles. They huff and puff and usually the first 30 seconds to a minute they are really strong, but what I've found with the big dudes on steroids, when you choke them, you snap their head down and block the blood, there's a carotid artery in their neck, if you squeeze that and block the blood to their carotid artery, instantly in the second they go down. Their muscles become weak and they become soft like jelly. And the stronger they were, the weaker they become. That's what I've found. Not that you guys care, but when I wrestled big people. I count out muscles first, and if I can't take them down, I have to get their head below me and do a front headlock; we're going for a choke, cut the blood off from the brain, not long term but just for a second or two. But as soon as you do that, all your muscles lose energy, they stop, you fall and then we attack and we win. It's similar. Anyway, that's just….there's some…what's the book, The Art of War? This is the Art of War by Russell Brunson. That's the strategy, how it works. We've talked before in a podcast, how you know when your opponents break. When you're out there wrestling someone, you push them and you feel, physically feel them break. Their energy stops, their posture, their whole body stops. That's when you attack harder and faster and bigger, that's how you beat people that are bigger and stronger than you. That's what happening and I hope you guys are enjoying watching it. I'm having so much fun competing. I don't know about you but I love seeing the underdogs win. I love seeing the dude who's got better technique beat out the guy on steroids, every single time. I'm calling my shot, that's the plan, that's what's happening. I hope you guys do the same thing. Become aware of who your competitors are. You don't have to be jerks about it, I'm probably too jerky sometimes, I apologize for that in advance. But be aware of it and understand that, and run this like a sport. If you do that, that's how you're going to win. Because this playground, nobody cares. Nobody cares, I grew up in band, I grew up in drama, I grew up in whatever. Okay, well you're still competing against the athletes. And if the athletes want to win, they're going to win. So be very aware of that, going into it. When you're inside of it, start shifting your mindset to understand that and it'll become fun. It becomes a game, becomes a sport. I always tell people, this is one of the greatest sports ever. It's exciting. That's all I got for tonight. With that said, I'm done. It's freezing cold out here, I'm going to go inside and get warm. And for those of you guys going to Funnel Hacking Live in a week, I will see you soon. I cannot wait. Appreciate you all, and I will talk to you soon.

But it’s been interesting, one of the fun things I’ve been thinking about. My dad came to town last weekend as well, which is awesome. I was thinking about business as a whole, it’s such a weird I don’t know, playground is the word that pops in my head, I don’t know if that’s the right word. I got into business, I mean I was learning about it in college when I was wrestling. My senior year, I didn’t hit my goals. I fell short, and in fact I didn’t even qualify for the national tournament, which destroyed me. And it would have destroyed me if I didn’t have the next thing. For me, business I was dabbling in and that became my next sport. It was like, here’s the sport, I got to figure out. And it’s interesting, the concepts of funnel hacking and the stuff that I share with people, you know how I always talk about I look at people successful and I model them, and I did, but it was different from that. For me it was a sport, I came in and this is the….I’m on a new playground looking around. In wrestling I have a match, and someday I’m going to come face to face, we’re going to walk out on the mat under the lights. I’m going to put my shoes on and it’s going to be me and them and that’s it. And if I haven’t done my homework, I’m going to look like an idiot. But in business it was weird because I would study these guys and try to figure out how to compete with them and be successful like they were and that was my whole thing, and I was racing towards that. But what’s weird in business, we never got that moment where we step on the mat and shake hands and go and find out who prepared more. It was weird, I became friends with people and our businesses were together and I learned this cooperation stuff that I’m guessing they probably taught at the playground with the kids in the band, and the kids, the other groups that all played together. For business it was fun because I collaborated and I had that, but in my mind, I don’t know about you, but I always had from day one….I remember actually, I don’t know if I’ve ever publicly said this out loud, but for me, I’ve always been very aware of where I visualize myself in the totem pole in my market, where are people at? Where up and down, that’s just how my brain works. And when I pass somebody, I’m aware of that. And when I know who’s ahead of me, I’m aware of that. When I know that, I study those people, I figure them out and I try to beat them. That’s just how I’m wired. It’s been interesting, as I’ve gotten into, as our business has been growing, I would say in our market, I don’t think there’s any businesses that are really bigger than us right now. Outside of a couple of companies that have taken on venture capitalists. They’ve got millions of dollars dumped into them, which is the equivalent of steroids. Honestly, in sports that cheating, but business it’s like, “Aww yes, someone gave us 14 million dollars, now we can cheat.” It’s just ridiculous. For me, I’m looking out and we’ve got these dudes that got steroids, they’re cheating, but I got to compete against the, but I’m very aware. In my mind it’s very clear, the companies I’m going after. And it shouldn’t be too hard for you guys that follow me to know, because we make fun of them a lot. But I’m aware of it, I study and figure out what they’re doing right and wrong, what the weaknesses are and then we’re attacking them. It’s been interesting because as I’ve been doing that, the kids at the playground who grew up in band class, and that grew up in drama and as skaters and all these other things, they’re not used to it. And those are the guys I’m competing against. And it’s interesting because they don’t handle the heat well. We got in a…… For me this is a sport. Business is nothing but a sport for me. It’s like, who do I need to beat? We’re going and attacking and we’re going to beat them. Otherwise, what’s the point of this whole thing? Yes, we’re helping people and that part is amazing on this journey. But there’s not, that’s who I need to beat, what’s the point of it? It’s hard for me otherwise. Anyway, someone that I kind of ruffled their feathers, I actually thought through this podcast, interestingly enough. But they messaged me and kind of told me off, because they didn’t like what I’m doing. Because I’m aggressive and I’m not playing like they’re used to playing. What they told me, they said my dad taught me never to burn bridges. And I didn’t send this back, but I wanted to. I thought, that’s interesting because my dad taught me how to win and that’s all that matters to me, is winning. Anyway, I told that story at the FHAT event, and people thought I was pretty, everyone was laughing. But that’s how I feel. I’m very aware of who I am going after. And I don’t publicly. In fact, Dan Usher is here making some videos for us and I was showing the offer we’re creating, there’s one other person who’s had more success in this, I’m not going to say their name. But there’s one person who’s had more success than me in this field where this book is. And I was showing Dan those videos and I was like, “That’s who I’m going against. That’s who I’m competing against. That’s who we have to beat.” He’s like, “I thought you guys were friends.” And I’m like, “We are friends, but it doesn’t matter.” I was friends with people on the wrestling mat, but when it comes to sports I have to win. I’m going after them. I’m not sitting around and trying to be nice. My goal is to win. Flat out. And I want to make sure that everybody understands that. What’s cool, is during this process I’m making friends and all these kinds of things, but it’s a sport for me. Very clear cut. This is a sport. And I have people I’m competing against and I’m going to win. And it’s interesting, because these other people aren’t used to that, and they are used to that, they’ve never been under the lights, with your shoes tied up and it’s you and them and no one else going head to head. And I am, I’m used to it. I love it, I thrive off it. I need it, I desire it. I crave for that. So it makes this game interesting because the way that people are beating us right now is through the most part, venture capitalists, steroids. So it just drives me more. Yes, okay. You’re going to cheat with steroids, that’s fine. I’m still going to win, I’m going to take you down and we’re going to choke you out and we’re going to turn you to your back and you’re going to get pinned. And that’s how I view business. I just want, I don’t know, I want to instill that into you guys. A lot of you guys out there were athletes, you were the kids on the playground who went through that and experienced it, and that’s your drive. For some of you guys it’s not. You have to understand when you step in the business world, that’s who you’re playing against. You’re playing against athletes. People who that’s their goal. So when I come, when you come into your business and look at your market, you need to be fully aware. Where do you sit on the totem pole? Are you JV or Varsity? First team or second team? Where in the state or country? Because if you’re not aware of that, how do you win if you don’t know who you’re playing against? Somebody told me the other day, after the FHAT event, “One thing I discovered after being around you for the last three days is how aware you are of all the competitors in your market.” And I thought it was interesting, because I am very, very aware. I know what they’re all doing. I’m watching them. And the things that I like, we use. And the things we don’t, we counter attack against them. You’ll see more and more of that throughout this year as we are aggressively going after our competitors and we’re going to surpass them through raw talent and skill instead of venture capitalists cash, which is amazing. You know, I wrestled kids that were on steroids before and it’s interesting, they come out and have big muscles. They huff and puff and usually the first 30 seconds to a minute they are really strong, but what I’ve found with the big dudes on steroids, when you choke them, you snap their head down and block the blood, there’s a carotid artery in their neck, if you squeeze that and block the blood to their carotid artery, instantly in the second they go down. Their muscles become weak and they become soft like jelly. And the stronger they were, the weaker they become. That’s what I’ve found. Not that you guys care, but when I wrestled big people. I count out muscles first, and if I can’t take them down, I have to get their head below me and do a front headlock; we’re going for a choke, cut the blood off from the brain, not long term but just for a second or two. But as soon as you do that, all your muscles lose energy, they stop, you fall and then we attack and we win. It’s similar. Anyway, that’s just….there’s some…what’s the book, The Art of War? This is the Art of War by Russell Brunson. That’s the strategy, how it works. We’ve talked before in a podcast, how you know when your opponents break. When you’re out there wrestling someone, you push them and you feel, physically feel them break. Their energy stops, their posture, their whole body stops. That’s when you attack harder and faster and bigger, that’s how you beat people that are bigger and stronger than you. That’s what happening and I hope you guys are enjoying watching it. I’m having so much fun competing. I don’t know about you but I love seeing the underdogs win. I love seeing the dude who’s got better technique beat out the guy on steroids, every single time. I’m calling my shot, that’s the plan, that’s what’s happening. I hope you guys do the same thing. Become aware of who your competitors are. You don’t have to be jerks about it, I’m probably too jerky sometimes, I apologize for that in advance. But be aware of it and understand that, and run this like a sport. If you do that, that’s how you’re going to win. Because this playground, nobody cares. Nobody cares, I grew up in band, I grew up in drama, I grew up in whatever. Okay, well you’re still competing against the athletes. And if the athletes want to win, they’re going to win. So be very aware of that, going into it. When you’re inside of it, start shifting your mindset to understand that and it’ll become fun. It becomes a game, becomes a sport. I always tell people, this is one of the greatest sports ever. It’s exciting. That’s all I got for tonight. With that said, I’m done. It’s freezing cold out here, I’m going to go inside and get warm. And for those of you guys going to Funnel Hacking Live in a week, I will see you soon. I cannot wait. Appreciate you all, and I will talk to you soon.

Your Listening to the Street Smart Wealth Podcast, show 102   I was recently asked an interesting question by a member of the community when I asked the question - what is your greatest obstacle? I’ve developed a new mindset training program to help people really clear out what is blocking them and holding them back.   We are going to cover his question and the top 4 answers that came back to me!   Welcome to the show!    I’m doing a special series of webinars this week, Mindshift to Millions, how to get UNSTUCK in Your Direct Sales Business.   Get registered - http://JackieUlmer.com/mindshift   Even if you can’t make it, you need to be registered to get the replay link!     If you want to take your business to a new level and have essentially a training university at your fingertips, Direct Sales Online Coach provides just that -   A - Z coaching on how to launch and succeed in Network Marketing, and how to take things to a new level with developing your online presence and brand and attract those people who go online looking for a business.   Learn more at   JackieUlmer.com/coach   What Stops You In Your Network Marketing Business   I mentioned that I asked this and had hundreds of responses. Most all came down to one thing, and one particular one by Jim intrigued me and I wanted to cover it on today’s show. Jim asks -   “My biggest obstacle I would like you to address is how do i overcome my belief that others will not do what it takes to build the business. I feel sometimes that I may be wasting my time since people today seem like they don't have the ambition like I do in building a mlm business.”     I’ve been coaching people for over 10 years in Direct Sales. I’ve been team building for nearly 21, and that is its own form of coaching. But, seriously working with people to launch their business has been part of my business for 10 years.   Everything from the basics of launching a business, what to say, how and when to follow up, the EXACT words to say, how to ask good questions.    And then, on to the specifics of attracting leads online - how to set up the blog, consistency, content, social media and marketing, and so on, I have seen hundreds of people spend LOTS of money on the mechanics, and yet never really take action on what they have obtained in terms of the knowledge.   Sound Familiar?    It all comes down to belief…or LACK of belief.    Which takes me back to Jim’s question -   How do i overcome my belief that others will not do what it takes to build a Network Marketing business. I feel sometimes that I may be wasting my time since people today seem like they don't have the ambition like I do in building a mlm business.   As long as Jim, or any of us hold onto those limiting beliefs, we will continue to experience EXACTLY what we are expecting.   And, we tend to then fall back on these beliefs as EXCUSES to not take action in our business.   Let’s look at the language Jim uses, and many of us use.   “Others will not do….”   “Wasting my time….”   and the big one -   “People TODAY seem like they don’t have the ambition like I do….”   So, there are a lot of questions here that need to be answered - and, if you might be feeling this way, just substitute your name for Jim’s, as this is not REALLY just about Jim. He asked the question for many of us…   1. Does this mean Jim is NOT taking action at all, because he thinks he might be wasting his time?   2. What does his daily actions and calendar look like?   3. How many people has he talked to and experienced this with?   This is really the REVEALING question.   I have people say all of the time - EVERYONE I talk to is negative, or not interested. And, when I press the issue, and ask - how many people TOTAL would you say that is?   It is almost ALWAYS 6 or less.   Do 6 people make up the whole demographic of your area, and are you REALLY willing to bank your future and your dreams and goals on 6 or fewer people?   When I launched the webinar series I am doing on mindset, I asked the question - what is your biggest obstacle to success?   1/3 didn’t answer and of the 2/3 who did, it all came down to 4 primary things -   Lack of Self Belief   Procrastination   Time Management   Focus   And, Fear.   Here is the thing - all 4 of these AND fear really shift up into the first category and that is BELIEF.     Lack of Self Belief, or most specifically, those beliefs we have made up about ourselves, that in most cases are not true.   Think about it - why do we procrastinate? IF we REALLY are excited about our business, and we REALLY believe it can take us where we want to go; then why would we procrastinate taking action? Because we have self belief issues!   IF we REALLY are excited about our business, and we REALLY believe it can take us where we want to go; then why would not make time in our busy schedule to take action? After all, EVERYONE is busy and ALMOST everyone who has become a millionaire through Network Marketing did so while working full time, juggling a family and a bunch of other commitments? Because we have self belief issues!   IF we REALLY are excited about our business, and we REALLY believe it can take us where we want to go; then why would we have problems with focus and knowing WHAT to do (assuming we were trained correctly, and ANYONE can get the right training!)?    Would we struggle making time for follow up calls? Would we struggle with not knowing what to say?    No, we would not. But we do because we have self belief issues!     We all have these limiting beliefs about ourselves that we have contemplated, shaped and adopted as “our story” over the course of our lives, usually brought on by early life experiences and situations that we were unable to really evaluate and view objectively, based on our age and limited resources.   These are what create our lack of self belief.   So, when you take a look at your obstacles, and you get your own chatter mind and objections out of the way, what do you come up with as to WHY you view these as obstacles?   And, here is a simple question to ask yourself when you see these limiting beliefs come up for you -   How do I know this to be true?   So, when you ask yourself a question like Jim’s - How do i overcome my belief that others will not do what it takes to build a Network Marketing business. I feel sometimes that I may be wasting my time since people today seem like they don't have the ambition like I do in building a mlm business.   Ask yourself - how do I know it to be true that people today seem like they don’t have the ambition like I do….     Or, when you think - no one I know will be interested, ask yourself -   How do I know this to be true?   And then open your mind to honestly evaluate the belief you have made up for yourself.       ACTION STEPS     1. Get registered for my webinar on Mindshift to Millions - JackieUlmer.com/mindshift   2. Write out 3 limiting beliefs that throw you into STUCK mode.   3. Use the question - how do I know this to be true - when you find this coming up for yourself   4. Be kind to yourself about these belief and avoid the tendency to beat yourself up   5. Currently, the show goes live twice a week, Monday’s and Thursday’s, with tips, tricks, solid concepts and interview from top income earners.   Send me a tweet - @jackieulmer and let me know where you are when you listen and what your big takeaway is from the show!   We’ll cover how to get a new team partner launched and off to success, if they’ll follow the system and   IF you want even more coaching and insights on how to become a true Network Marketing professional, earning that gangster income, consider joining my coaching community! We cover everything A-Z on Network Marketing and A-Z on Social Media, and how to set up an online marketing system so YOU become the hunted and not the hunter! In other words, people come to YOU, pre-sold on network marketing and pre-sold on a business. Learn more -   JackieUlmer.com/coach     How to Launch a New Team Partner   First, congratulate them on their decision and assure them that they have made a wise decision; that you will get their questions answered; get them trained and be there to support them.   You can’t do it for them, but you can shorten the learning curve and assist them with what to do, and what not to do. If they succeed, it’s because they did it. IF they fail, it is also because they did it, or didn’t do it!   Next, set their expectations and DO NOT make it sound like a breeze. Let them know that most people will say no, but they don’t need everyone. They need to understand the law of numbers, averages, and follow up.   Numbers will create growth; averages improve with practice; and follow up will explode their business because of life timing.   Then, let them know you understand what is probably their 2 biggest fears.   2 Big Fears -   I don’t know what to say or do…   I don’t want to look stupid to my friends and family….   So, goal # one, BEFORE the why and the goal setting is - make sure they know what to do and what to say.  Make sure they understand the 2 ways you make money -   Signing up customers, to use the product.   Signing up distributors use the product and sign up other customers and distributors who do, too.   So, how to do that?   Educate them on how to make that list. Let them know that you “Get” that they might edit it. Talk to them about the top ten people first. Well connected, have the money, are positive and so on.   Then, set their expectations. You “get” that they may be hesitant because they don’t know what to say, so here are some ideas on what to say -   Listen to the show right before this one - 097 - as it has ice breakers.   Make a HOT list - REALLY close friends and family.    I know you are super busy and I won’t take a lot of your time. I’ve launched a business, I know you won’t be interested in it but I do think you’ll love the product. I need a favor. I need you to order a box, sign up, or whatever, and just try the product for a month. I need some testimonials. IF you love it, GREAT, write me a testimonial and continue as my customer. If you don’t love it, no worries, I’ll never ask you again.   Would you be willing to do that for me?   Then, move to the list they will be contacting from a third party approach.   I know you are super busy and would not have time, so I wanted to get your opinion. I’ve started a business and I know you know a lot of people. I’ve always admired your professionalism in business. I’m expanding my business in your area and wonder - who do you know who is sharp, ambitious and does keep their options open for other ways of adding cash flow.   From there, make sure your new team partner knows the “system” to take someone through to present the opportunity.     Do they have a product order in and do they know and understand how to order products; and the importance of auto ship.   Do they know how to sign up a customer and a distributor?   Do they understand the tools?   Schedule a time to introduce them to their upline, if possible.   Explain conference calls, and events. Get the next event on their calendar.   Lay out a daily and weekly action plan that they agree to. They need to know how to get their first customer and distributor which you basically cover in the steps we already went through with their list. Put it into the calendar and schedule it.   Give them 2 assignments to accomplish in the first 48 hours, and these must be income producing activities. Get 2 customers, show the business twice; schedule an in home and begin inviting people.   Ask them how they want to stay accountable and how they want you to handle it when they go MIA - missing in action.   That’s really it. Pretty simple. Other than being available for 3 way calls, there is not a lot your upline can do, once these steps are fulfilled.    THEY must make the list; MAKE the calls; Plug in and keep themselves in action.   ACTION STEPS   Develop a guide that you will use to get someone launched.   If you haven’t really launched yourself - DO SO!   Reach out to team members you have already enrolled and ask if they need support.   Write out your own daily/weekly plan so you can share an example.   Make sure your next company or generic event is on your calendar and you are attending!     iTunes reviews shout out!     Netsacv - I just listened to Jackie’s podcast on planning and productivity and got lots of useful information. Is it possible to find a happy medium? ---Transcript--- Hey everyone! This is Russell Brunson, and I want to welcome you to the Marketing In You Car podcast. Today, I'm not in my Ferrari because it's freezing! But we're here and we're having some fun. Hey guy and gals! So I appreciate you guys all being here today on the podcast and listening in. We have a very fun and exciting day today happening. It starts off, actually, yesterday. Well, maybe like even a month ago. A month ago, for those of you who know me, I'm not like a very big video game guy. But I love like the old-school video games, and so I found this Nintendo controller, like one of the original ones, but it's a USB based one. So I bought it, and I really didn't know what to do with it, and then last night with my kids I went and I found how to download an emulator, and I downloaded all of the original games that we used to play. So I had “Mario 1, 2, 3.” We had “Double-Dribble,” “Contra,” “Milon's Secret Castle,” “Legacy Of The Wizard,” anyway all the fun games, and we started playing it last night, and I was up till forever playing it. And it's Daylight Savings, and so I was actually up even… I was up to like 2:00 or 3:00, technically. I think it was like 1:00 or 2:00 I went to bed, but it was like 2:00 or 3:00 in my brain because of Daylight Savings. So anyway, that was fun and I'm excited to get back tonight. I have to get home from the office and keep playing. I got to beat some of my old games again. Oh, “Mike Tyson's Punch Out,” I have that one too. Anyway, so it's been a lot of fun. But I want to talk to you guys about what I've been thinking about this whole weekend. Because I'm kind of having a big shift, and it goes against everything that I thought I believed about marketing, and I think that I just sold myself on it. For those who have been following me for any amount of time, you know that I'm kind of like a hard-core like Dad Kennedy style, outbound marketer, right? We're very aggressive with our emails and our banners and our direct mail and our — everything that we're doing. And it works! Okay, like we've been very successful with it, but I keep watching like all these newer type companies that are coming out, and watching their huge growth they're having. And what's interesting, as I watch what they're doing, and it's very… kind of the opposite of what I'm doing. In fact, they all kind of call like, what I do and what we focus on, the “outbound marketing,” what they do “inbound marketing.” And I've seen infographic about like how outbound marketing, you're like “spammers” and “the email marketers,” and, you know, all these guys. And the inbound marketers, the ones who “create good content” and “people come and listen to them,” and bla, bla, bla, and while I don't completely agree with them, there are some valid, really, really, really good things that I have been getting from them that I enjoy. I think there's a blend of the two that you can really find a happy medium, and I think that using, you know, they would call outbound marketing techniques — promote your inbound marketing — is really where the magic is if you can find that sweet spot. And so, I've been looking for the last month or so, for those of you guys who know, we've been publishing the DotComSecrets Labs print newsletter for, man, for a long time! I think it's been seven years we've been publishing a print newsletter. In the last five or six months, it's been the DotComSecrets Labs Newsletter, and people will have loved the Labs newsletter. They've been going crazy for it. Anyone who gets their hands on it, it's just like “this is the greatest thing I've ever seen.” And the problem is, though, it's really a hard product to sell. It's kind of like insurance, right? Like everybody needs insurance, but nobody really wants insurance. Now if they get it, they're grateful for it. It's kind of like this: like we just really have a hard time getting mass appeal, and then about a month ago the girl that's been doing our newsletter, she's had her second baby and she just said, “Hey, I don't have time now to keep dedicating to this.” And so, I'm kind of at this crossroad, and what do we do? Do we find a new publisher? Do we just cancel it altogether, or what do we do? I kind of have this weekend, what I'm leaning towards, and I may not do it, so don't hold me accountable to this if I don't. But I was like what if — like anyone who gets the newsletter in their hands and sees the split tests and the results and all this stuff, I get — it instantly makes them raving fans. Mark Call said, “By far, it was the best Internet marketing product he's ever purchased in his history online.” You know, everybody else that sees it, loves it. Like our Facebook reviews are just raving, from David Frey, from just everybody, right? And so, I was like, “What if we just stopped selling that and just started giving it away? Like what if I made like a real blog, like people do in the blogging world, and I just every day blogged split test results? It showed cool thing, after cool thing, after cool, after cool thing?” I'm always just like have a kind of fear. I'm like, “Well, why should I actually give all this stuff away? Like people will pay for it.” But I'm like, what if I did, though? If I give that away, it would create these raving fans who then come back and purchase everything else we have. That's been kind of my thought process over the weekend. I've got to talk to my guys and see what they think about it. They may think I'm crazy. But I really think that, you know, one of the big shifts in my business over the last month or so is, bringing in all the social media and bringing in all these things that we haven't been doing. And I think that the reason why it's so powerful is because, first off, it makes you relevant. Second off, it's really rebuilding our platform. You know, like I said, we've been building our platform for the last 10 years, but the platform shifted. And I've got to be honest: I've been slower to change over than I probably should have been. So these are all the things that we're trying to do to really rebuild our platform from the social media standpoint, and just doing cool stuff to get everybody raving fans where they just spend more time with us, and, in return, hopefully, spend some more money with us. So that's the kind of the game plot. I don't know. We're excited, and anyway I appreciate you guys listening. I just got to the office. I've got a fun-filled day of stuff I'm going to be doing. I'm fired up, excited. I found this company that does infographics. You know, I've got tons of processes that we teach in our company, and I was like whiteboarding out. But I was like wouldn't that be cool if we have an infographic for each one of them? So like the DotComSecrets X process, we take someone through it. You make an infographic of that. Our DotComSecrets Local, our Micro-Continuity, our Underachiever, like making infographics of each of these different topics. The people can print them out. You know, put them on the wall, whatever. Pass them around. Anyway, I'm excited about that too. I'm going to be having them do a DotComSecrets X infographic today, so I'm fired up! I'm excited for today. It's going to be good. I hope you guys are excited as well. If you're liking this podcast, please go to iTunes and let me know. I love reading the reviews. It gets me excited, and other than that, you guys, I will talk to you all again very, very soon. Thanks, you guys, and this is Russell signing off.

The major difference between sites that convert and make huge money and those that don’t is copy writing. http://escapethematrix.net Ever wonder what makes the difference between the millions of boring, non producing websites splattered all over the web, and the sites that seem to hypnotize visitors and almost force them to grab their credit cards and buy? Well, the major difference between sites that convert and make huge money and those that don’t is copy writing. And luckily, you don’t need to be a Joe Vitale, or hire a $5,000 per page writer to create amazing copy. In this post we are discussing all things copy writing, and providing three distinct and extremely cool resources on copy writing. The second resource is an article by David Frey, written a few years ago on copy writing, called the 12 Step Foolproof Sales Letter. And to give credit where credit is due, you can learn more by Mr. Frey at his excellent blog, here. The second item are the notes from a 2 day workshop that Kimball Roundy and I did. Kimballs notes are his presenter notes, so they aren’t detailed, but you will find they are highly useful and have tons of great, easily digestible tips. 12 Step Foolproof Sales Letter You don’t have to be an award-winning copywriter to create effective sales letters. In fact, writing great sales letters is more of a science than an art. Even the pros use proven “templates” to create sales letters that get results. The following is a 12-step template for writing foolproof sales letters. Overcoming the Hurdles Leading to Buying Resistance Every person has some form of buying resistance. The objective of your sales letter should be to overcome your reader’s buying resistance while persuading them to take action. I liken writing a sales letter to running a steeplechase foot race. The first one to the finish line who has jumped over all the hurdles is the winner, or in this case, gets the sale. Whether you’re giving a sales presentation in person or on paper, the process of overcoming the hurdles leading to buying resistance are much the same. These hurdles are manifested in many spoken and unspoken customer comments such as: “You don’t understand my problem” “How do I know you’re qualified” “I don’t believe you” “I don’t need it right now” “It won’t work for me” “What happens if I don’t like it” “I can’t afford it” Results-oriented sales letters will need to address some or all of these objections to be effective. The 12-step sales letter template is designed to overcome each of these objections in a careful, methodical series of copywriting tactics. The 12 steps are: Get attention Identify the problem Provide the solution Present your credentials Show the benefits Give social proof Make your offer Inject scarcity Give a guarantee Call to action Give a warning Close with a reminder
