She is also a member of The Palm Springs Writers Guild for the past 16 years where she has chaired the Annual Story contest for the past six years. Bjork has had essays published in anthologies, self-published books of poetry, and wrote a blog for four years, which is the basis for her book, My Mother is Losing Her Memory, and I Am Losing My Mind: Parenting The Aging Parent. Her other books include: Poems (2015), Reflection (2019), and My Point of View (2023) She earned her BA in psychology and education form California Western University in San Diego and received a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from San Diego State College. In 2000, she was selected as Coachella United School District Elementary Teacher of the Year. About James Jim received an MBA from the University of Chicago and had a successful career in IBM finance. His wife Geri was diagnosed in 2012 with mild cognitive impairment, later clarified as Alzheimer’s disease. Geri and Jim have spoken to over fifteen thousand people across the US and in Europe addressing stigma, how to live well with dementia, and promoting clinical trial participation. In September 2020, the couple was awarded the Perennial Hero Award by the Alliance for Aging Research (DC) for their Alzheimer’s advocacy. Jim is an FDA appointed Alzheimer’s patient advocate. In June 2021, he was appointed by Governor Cuomo as a patient advocate on the New York State Alzheimer’s Council. Jim serves as President and CEO of Voices of Alzheimer’s, a prominent advocacy organization founded in Sept 2022. VoA’s mission is to promote speedy and equitable access to FDA-approved diagnostics and therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease. In January Jim spoke in Davos, Switzerland at the Alzheimer’s Roundtable during the World Economic Forum. Jim’s wife Geri died on August 4th, having won her battle with Alzheimers. About Laura Laura Suttin is a family physician, a certified coach, a consultant, an author, a speaker, and an entrepreneur. She completed her medical training at the McGovern Medical School in Houston and her residency at the Christus Spohn Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Corpus Christi, Texas. She received her MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016. Her first book, The Purposeful MD-Creating the Life You Love Without Guilt, was published in October 2024. Dr. Suttin began working with a coach over 10 years ago, and found it so life-changing that she became a coach herself. She launched Purposeful MD in 2021, with the mission of empowering physicians and other medical professionals to create the lives they love without guilt. In her spare time, she enjoys running, triathlon, travel, and glamping with her family in their travel trailer.
