Hanno anche aggiunto che le piace la Disney.“Le piacciono i giochi e la Disney…” non so se Hikaru Utada si aspettasse un risultato del genere, una svolta così prorompente per la sua carriera e per la sua immagine. Se avesse anche solo annusato la possibilità che quel primo progetto tra Square e Disney sarebbe poi diventato una serie da oltre 30 milioni di copie nel mondo…Classe 1983 Utada nasce negli stati Uniti da genitori Giapponesi e fin dalla giovane età si ritrova a fare avanti e indietro tra Tokyo e New York a causa del lavoro del padre come produttore musicale. Il suo debutto sulla scena avviene nel 1998, alla sola età di 15 anni pubblica l'album Precious sotto lo pseudonimo di Cubic U… il disco è un fallimento totale. La ragazza non molla e l'anno dopo pubblica in Giappone il suo primo album in sola lingua giapponese: è un successo. Nel corso della sola prima settimana il disco vende oltre un milione di copie, rimane nella top ten delle classifiche giapponesi per oltre 6 settimane e raggiunge la cifra di 6 milioni di copie vendute a fine 1999. Utada inizia così la sua scalata musicale nel mondo del pop e R&B giapponese diventando ad oggi una delle più influenti e redditizie cantanti del sol levante.L'incontro tra lei e Kingdom Hearts è quindi l'incontro inaspettato di due stelle in ascesa. Da una parte una ragazzina di soli 18 anni con 6 milioni di dischi venduti sulle spalle e la richiesta di essere la voce d'ingresso al mondo di Kingdom Hearts, dall'altra un pretenzioso azzardo videoludico affidato nelle mani del più sregolato director del nuovo millennio: Tetsuya Nomura.La versione che state ascoltando è presa dalla Collection Project Destati, una trascrizione fan made realizzata da tre appassionati del gioco che ho già utilizzato per l'episodio predente e che utilizzerò anche per questo. Va da sé che la versione originale di questo brano è molto molto diversa ma tranquilli, in descrizione trovate il link alle opening di tutti e tre i Kingdom Hearts numerati.Ma Jonathan ha senso parlare di questo brano utilizzando una cover fatta al pianoforte? Allora, innanzitutto sono due pianoforti, in secondo luogo per quello che mi preme dirvi ha molto senso. Amici di mangianastri in questa intro all'episodio voglio raccontarvi al volo il significato musicale delle opening di Kingdom Hearts e nel mentre che la melodia di Hikari (O simple & clean nella versione occidentale) ci accompagna vi leggo la traduzione del ritornello:Mentre te ne vai, non mi senti dire"Per favore, baby, non andare"Semplice e pulitoÈ il modo in cui mi fai sentire staseraÈ difficile lasciar perdereIl primo aspetto importante da comprendere è che Utada ha scritto questa canzone sia per il gioco che per il suo album Deep River, ci significa che è si legato alle vicende narrate nel primo Kingdom Hearts ma neanche troppo nel senso che la canzone parla di una relazione amorosa e come imparare ad amare mentre in Kingdom Hearts si parla più di affetto e del ritrovare gli affetti perduti. Il secondo aspetto fondamentale è che il plot narrativo del primo gioco ha subito tantissimi cambiamenti in corso d'opera, cambiamenti che sono avvenuti prima, durante e dopo il processo di scrittura di Simple & Clean e questo potrebbe anche spiegare (in larghissima parte) il perchè di un focus così mirato sulla relazione amorosa.Se quindi il primo Kingdom Hearts poteva fregiarsi di una opening non del tutto legata al gioco ma sicuramente di enorme impatto visto che la voce del gioco era la cantante più in voga nel territorio giapponese dell'epoca, con il secondo titolo le cose cambiano radicalmente.Gli aspetti che cambiano maggiormente tra il primo ed il secondo Kingdom Hearts sono due: la popolarità raggiunta dal brand (Kingdom Hearts 1 fu un successo mondiale) e la conseguente presa di coscienza di Tetsuya Nomura che si può tradurre in un accrescimento spropositato del suo ego. Questi due aspetti hanno fatto sì che intorno a questo brano che state ascoltando si siano sprecate tante, ma tante, ma tante di quelle parole, supposizione, sproloqui, teorie che rendono ora complesso comprendere quale sia la verità. Nella versione originale di Passion (nella versione inglese intitolata Sanctuary) vennero introdotte alcune frasi al contrario che nascondevano alcuni piccoli easter egg legati al gioco e alla serie, frasi del tipo:Il mio cuore è un campo di battagliaNecessito più affetto di quello che immaginiCosì tanti alti e bassiNecessito emozioni vereDa questo alle versioni di Sanctuary riprodotte interamente al contrario e sottotitolate a caso che potete trovare su YouTube ne passa di acqua sotto i ponti, acqua che però Nomura ha saputo cavalcare alla grande in quanto la opening del secondo Kingdom Hearts segna un punto di non ritorno per la serie: segna il punto delle speculazioni ardite, delle risposte non dette, dell'agrovigliamento del cuore di Sora e dell'inizio di alcuni problemi narrativi belli grossi. Di chi sono quelle frasi? Di Riku? Di Roxas? Di Sora? Di Ventus? Di tutti e 4? Di nessuno di loro?Questo ora non ci interessa, ci interessa invece che per la prima volta nella storia dei videogiochi la musica divenne non solo espressione del mondo di gioco, non solo caratterizzante fin nel suo midollo ma anche veicolo primario di informazioni di trama.È un macello? Si.È stato gestito male?
