Emma Driver, a burgeoning queer artist and cancer survivor, released her powerful new single, "Try Hard," on September 4th. This first release marks a significant step in her healing journey, transforming insecurities into acceptance and aiming to serve as a guiding light for others facing similar struggles.  Now Emma is back with her new single. Everyone who's hit a trajectory-altering detour in life will want to hear Emma Driver's revelatory new song “I Don't Hate It, It's Just Different.” Inspired by the twin richter-scale jolts of a big breakup followed by a cancer diagnosis at the tender age of 27, Emma's last few years have felt like a horror film. This song encapsulates the grief of realizing her life isn't what she had envisioned, and opens the door to a brighter, unexpected future. As she sings in the chorus, “It's a classic double feature with a gigantic plot twist.” Emerging from treatment in remission nearly three years after her last release under a different name, Emma felt a rapacious urgency to release music. Returning to New York City, she collaborated with the renowned production duo SUPR8, known for their work with Lolo Zouai, Bradley Simpson, and Princess Nokia. This collaboration resulted in her upcoming four-song EP, "Ashamed To Admit This."   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

Emma Driver, a burgeoning queer artist and cancer survivor, released her powerful new single, "Try Hard," on September 4th. This first release marks a significant step in her healing journey, transforming insecurities into acceptance and aiming to serve as a guiding light for others facing similar struggles. "What a nightmare to be perceived" are lyrics Emma penned in 2021 before her cancer diagnosis. However, these words resonated more deeply as she lost her hair to chemotherapy and became unrecognizable even to herself. Confronting mortality at 27, she found solace in her music once again, transforming fears and shame into art that eased her pain and revealed an undiscovered strength. Emerging from treatment in remission nearly three years after her last release under a different name, Emma felt a rapacious urgency to release music. Returning to New York City, she collaborated with the renowned production duo SUPR8, known for their work with Lolo Zouai, Bradley Simpson, and Princess Nokia. This collaboration resulted in her upcoming four-song EP, "Ashamed To Admit This." "Try Hard" is an anthemic testimony for those who have forsaken happiness in pursuit of acceptance. Evoking the teen angst of Avril Lavigne and Olivia Rodrigo, coupled with a mature, alternative sound that acknowledges the desire to be the "cool kid" while delivering the realization that weighing others' opinions too dearly is a barrier to personal growth.   Want to watch: YouTube Meisterkhan Pod (Please Subscribe)

When Emma Westenberg landed the job directing the music video for Janelle Monae's track, PYNK, it opened a Narnia-like door to a whole new world of creative possibility. The video – which featured Monae wearing those iconic vulva trousers – went viral, clocking up more than 16M views to date, earning Emma both a Grammy and MTV Music Video Award-nomination, and perhaps best of all, being described as “a Queen” by Janelle herself.Since then, her career has accelerated in all directions—from a Super Bowl ad spot featuring Zoe Kravitz, to music videos for Troye Sivan, Princess Nokia and Rico Nasty, to commercial work for clients from ASOS to Vogue, to directing a feature starring celebrated Scottish actor, Ewan McGregor (OBE!) and his real-life daughter Clara in Bleeding Love—and it doesn't stop there! No matter what the scale and nature, Emma brings her distinctly witty and whimsical aesthetic to every project, and, in this beautifully candid episode, she talks us through some of the challenges, lessons and moments of magic along the way—from working with tricky collaborators under pressure, to the simple joy of making art for art's sake.“I think only the crazy ideas are the brilliant ones. I like things that are unexpected, or offbeat, or that rattle you in some way. More about Savanah Leaf Savanah Leaf is an Olympian and award-winning filmmaker, whose work weaves magical realism with poignant social commentary. Her latest film The Heart Still Hums (2020) is a short documentary following the stories of five women as they fight for their children through the cycle of homelessness, drug addiction and neglect from their own parents. The film won Best Documentary Short at the Palm Springs International ShortFest, BlackStar Film Festival and Nashville Film Festival and was released with Fox Searchlight Shorts. Her music video ‘This Land' for Gary Clark Jr. was nominated for Best Music Video at the 2020 Grammys. More about Tia Nomore Coming up in cypher circles and freestyle battle arenas, Tia Nomore forced her entry into hip-hop's boys club. The 28-year-old's claim as Oakland rap's little sister started as a teenager when she would jump into her older brother's rap circles and ditch class to record G-funk- inspired hyphy music. Now a fully realized artist and experienced Oakland emcee with three records under her belt — 2019's Level, 2018's Gooney Tunes (alongside Bruh from Last Night and MVCK) and 2016 Halloween— Tia's fiery wits, lyrical dismantling and command for respect, continue to bring her to new bold artistic territory. Овој понеделник слушавме музика од: Nina Simone, 4 Non Blondes, Anohni Sade, Solange, Gloria Gaynor, Noname, Kim Band, Alanis Morissette, Diana Ross, Nappy Nina, Christina Aguilera, Aretha Franklin, Bernays Propaganda, Le Tigre, Chaka Khan, Destiny's Child, Princess Nokia, No Doubt, Skunk Anansie, AntiarT, Bastion, Cardi B, TLC, Shania Twain, Leikeli47, M.I.A., Beyonce, Mary J. Den 31 mars 2019 mördades Nipsey utanför sin klädaffär vid korsningen som odödliggjordes i musiken, och där han brukade hassla som ung, Crenshaw Boulevard och Slauson Avenue.

Witches, you know how the pentacle has become Hollywood shorthand for evil, when it’s not? You know how people still think we’re suspect because, well, movies? Turns out it’s not just magickal folk who get worked over by Tinseltown. Even the greatest of Gods and Goddesses can get misrepresented. The Trojan Wars really begin with a golden apple, a disgruntled Chaos Goddess and a very strange beauty contest between Hera, Aphrodite and Athena. That. and the love of the most beautiful mortal woman in the world was behind the horror of this awful War, with its plagues, sacrifices, and terrible glory. The Greek Myth, through its exploration of Achilles, half man, half God, the formidable warrior driven to madness through an indescribable loss, gives us a story of redemption, and a battle that is as much between the Gods as it is between the Greeks and the Trojans. But what happens to the Gods when Hollywood gets its hands on mythic history? Well, essentially they get some things kind of right, and the rest… is a bit of a mess! Lucy does a deep dive into one of the biggest films of the noughties, discovering the differences between how the Greeks felt about fate, and the way this Hollywood blockbuster portrayed destiny, diminished the role of priestesses, sorely neglected the Gods, and changed the sexuality of one of the greatest warriors and demi-Gods ever. Because…that’s Hollywood. But don’t worry - this episode offers a whole lot about what the Gods and Goddesses did do, and why, when they chose to take sides in human affairs.Featuring music by Princess Nokia, Junip and Runfell, this episode also features Lucy reading from her new Oracle Card deck, Into the Lonely Woods.
