Ken Carman and Daryl Ruiterdives into the latest LeBron James rumors swirling around Cleveland, from sightings at his old Akron gym to Scoop B Robinson's report on a possible Cavaliers sign and trade. Ken and Daryl debate how much the vacant GM job actually factors into LeBron's decision, with names like Brandon Weems and David Griffin in the mix. They break down the financial maneuvering the Cavs would need to pull off, including clearing the second apron and a James Harden contract restructure. The two also weigh whether a Cleveland return stacks up against a Miami reunion or a farewell tour somewhere else entirely.

After a brief hiatus, Dan, Amin, and Izzy return with Pablo Torre to dig into his landmark 2017 ESPN feature on LeBron James — not the player chasing rings, but the architect quietly building an empire. What Phil Jackson famously dismissed as a "posse" — a word that told you everything about who was really threatened — turns out to have been a boardroom in disguise. Maverick Carter, Rich Paul, Randy Mims: ridiculed first, respected later, inevitable in hindsight. This is the episode where The Step Back steps sideways — from flashpoints to foresight — to ask how a kid from Akron turned loyalty into leverage, and a group of friends into a seat at the table that nobody wanted to give them. John Groce is embarking on a new chapter as the head coach of College of Charleston, taking over one of the most tradition-rich programs in college basketball. Charleston boasts the sixth-highest winning percentage in college basketball history, and the program's expectations remain as high as ever. By bringing in Groce, the Cougars have secured one of the most accomplished and respected coaches in the mid-major ranks to lead them into their next era. Groce arrives in Charleston after a remarkable nine-year run at University of Akron, where he built the Zips into one of the most consistent winners in the country. Most notably, Akron captured three consecutive MAC Championships, becoming the first program in conference history to accomplish that feat. Under Groce's leadership, the Zips developed a reputation for toughness, discipline, and sustained excellence, regularly competing for championships and earning national respect. Now, Groce takes over a Charleston program that is already one of the most attractive jobs in mid-major basketball. With the school's winning tradition, strong fan support, and resources, the Cougars are positioned to become a major force under his leadership. The combination of Charleston's history and Groce's proven track record has made the program one of the most intriguing stories in college basketball, and expectations will be high as the Cougars look to contend for championships in the years ahead. Bobbi is co-owner of Tennessee School of Beauty, a fifth generation school opened in 1934, and has been partners with the family for seven years after walking in to do admissions and operating like she already owned it.How She Got HereBobbi grew up near Pittsburgh in a close-knit Italian family and almost became a high school English teacher. After one semester of observations in inner city Akron middle schools she knew it was not the path. She followed her mom to Knoxville, connected with a salon owner tied to Tennessee School of Beauty, and took the admissions job with zero beauty industry experience. She fell in love immediately. Seven years later the fourth generation owner made her a partner.Own the Space You Are InBobbi did not wait for permission to build something at ABS. She emailed the press team cold, showed up with a small crew, and asked if they could have a bigger presence the following year. That became what it is today. Own every space you are in regardless of whose name is on the door. Whether you are behind the chair on commission or running a media operation at a hair show, treat it like yours.Haven HouseBobbi partners with Haven House, an organization that supports girls in foster care who have experienced sex trafficking. Multiple times a year those girls come into the school as clients. Students work on them. Bobbi handpicks which students are in the room because she knows who needs to be there. Every time without fail those students walk out changed. The girls get to be normal teenage girls for a day. The students get a perspective shift that no classroom can manufacture. The Tennessee Beauty Professional Awards and a New NonprofitThe Tennessee Beauty Professional Awards happen August 16th in Knoxville. The first year benefited the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network with a scholarship in honor of her business partner's son who died by suicide. This year Bobbi is announcing a new nonprofit to fund real product and hands-on training in underfunded public school cosmetology programs. Corey is going to be a judge.Find Bobbi at @beautyschoolbobbi on all platforms. Listen to the Beauty School Bobbi podcast every Monday. Follow Geno at @genochapman.

Tonight, on this explosive episode of Light ‘Em Up.If you are hearing this episode, it is a miracle from God. Believe me!About a week ago with no advanced warning, we suffered the most serious catastrophic equipment failure that we've ever experienced — thanks to Windows 11. The Security settings on Windows 11 cancelled our access to our “drivers” which support our show. We scrambled; we researched the problem day and night, tried one of everything and troubleshot the issue until we were asleep on our feet.Long story short, we're back!  Bill Gates can't keep a good show down!Tonight, we focus our investigative reporting skills with the intensity of a surgical laser on better understanding officer- induced jeopardy, which also can be referred to as officer- created jeopardy."Officer-induced jeopardy" refers to situations where a police officer's own unreasonable tactics, actions, or decisions prior to a force encounter unnecessarily create or escalate the danger, increasing the likelihood that force will be needed. The phrases of “officer-induced jeopardy” or “officer-created jeopardy” describe actions taken by police officers that increase the risk of injury to the officer and escalate the probability of use of lethal force by officers, which may have been avoided had the officer not placed himself or herself in a self-created dangerous situation.Be clear in the fact that this action stems from willful actions taken by the officer that put the officer and the person of interest or suspect in danger … such as:—                 rushing in without backup,—                 poor de-escalation skills and tactics,—                 or standing in front of a fleeing vehicle, which may have been avoided.Officers rarely are but can be criminally prosecuted for using force when their actions led to escalation during contact with subjects. However, the facts bear out that fewer than 3% of killings by police result in officers being charged with a crime.Recently, a fan of the show contacted us and informed us of an incident where their family — in their home -- became inadvertent ear and eyewitnesses being directly next door to where the Akron Police Department had terminated a vehicle pursuit — barricading and cornering a driver in his vehicle and ordering him to exit his vehicle while at gun point:  More than 10 officers with their weapons drawn and pointed at the person who had previously committed what would amount to minor misdemeanors. The family that contacted us were concerned because they were in the direct line of crossfire if the officers decided to fire. This unnecessary contact with a 66-year-old black man (the suspect) could have easily turned into a “contagious fire” incident, with many of those shots coming from high-powered, military style assault rifles. In this explosive episode, in order to further our understanding about officer- induced jeopardy —   as a case study we'll examine Barnes v. Felix, 605 U.S. ___ (2025), which is a recent Supreme Court decision which assesses whether an officer acted reasonably in using force under the Fourth Amendment, and that a court must consider all the relevant circumstances, including facts and events leading up to the climactic moment. And we'll touch upon a few brief case summaries and instances that support our topic …As well as:—     How the use-of-force management training has changed over the course of the last decade.—     How has the use of less-lethal tools and devices changed? And …—     What we feel law enforcement agencies in the 21st Century should focus more on when it comes to officer- induced jeopardy and the use-of-force continuum. All this, pero mucho más aquí y solamente aquí — on Light ‘Em Up!The search for the truth and justice begins RIGHT HERE … and RIGHT NOW!Tune in for all the explosive details and our sponsors Newsly & Feedspot! We want to hear from you!Support the show

Some words and experiences come with a lot of baggage, conjuring up fear, stigma, and shame. But being afraid or ashamed doesn't protect us from those experiences or those words. It just keeps us from really understanding them or being able to talk about them. And what we can't process for ourselves, we can't help those we love and lead with either. In the clinical space, dissociation is one of those words and experiences that is met with a lot of discomfort. How people were taught and trained to address dissociation often perpetuates shame and stigma, and its pop culture depictions and usage haven't helped either. But my guest today has spent her career making the case that dissociation isn't rare, or even necessarily pathological; it's actually a common and deeply human experience that ranges from everyday zoning out to more complex presentations that do need support. And as you'll hear, Dr. Jamie Marich believes understanding this spectrum isn't just a matter of clinical education, but is vital for our own self-knowledge and how we lead others.Dr. Jamie Marich, PhD, LPCC-S, REAT (she/they) began her career as a humanitarian aid worker in Bosnia-Herzegovina from 2000-2003, primarily teaching English and music. Gun violence tends to surge during the summer months, and though gun violence in Cleveland dropped by 24% from 2023 to 2024, the city's latest available data, children are still most at risk to die by gun violence. Firearms have been the leading cause of death in teens and children nationwide since 2020. Many major cities around Northeast Ohio have invested a lot into their efforts to reduce gun violence. Cleveland developed its 2026 Summer Safety Plan, which includes citizen outreach, violence interruption programs and street repairs. Last year, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik said the city's Violence Intervention & Prevention Strategic Plan helped to reduce gun violence through programs like the Akron Street Team, which meets with those at high risk of engaging in future violence. Additionally, Cleveland Public Library partnered with the Cuyahoga County Office of Violence Prevention and other community partners to provide gun safes and locks to promote gun safety practices. However, some don't think that's enough. After a tragic shooting on Cleveland's west side killed three people this weekend, City Councilman Mike Polensek is calling for a "show of force" from law enforcement. On Wednesday's "Sound of Ideas," we'll talk about gun violence in Northeast Ohio, and how government and community partners are working together to make neighborhoods safer this summer. Cleveland is looking to invest in housing in the historically redlined East Side neighborhoods of Hough, Central and St. Clair-Superior by combining public funds and foundation money. Akron's first civic assembly focused on housing solutions has come to an end. Delegates approved nine recommendations, including zoning reform and a proposed housing docket in Akron Municipal Court that would track housing cases and disputes. Lily Heidinger is a young country music sensation from Madison, Ohio. Her heartfelt lyrics and soulful voice are already capturing attention far beyond her hometown. With a guitar in her hand and a story to tell, Lily writes her own songs—honest, emotional, and rooted in the traditions of country storytelling with a fresh, modern edge.Inspired by legends like Dolly Parton, Kacey Musgraves and Ashley McBride, Lily began performing at local venues and festivals as a teenager, quickly earning a loyal following drawn to her raw talent and magnetic stage presence. Soon, Lily began to perform at more important events: as a featured performer at world renown guitar virtuoso Neil Zaza's “One Silent Night,” at the Goodyear Theater in Akron, OH, a Battle of the Bands competition at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds (that she won!), opening for an Emily Ann Roberts' concert at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland and was recently nominated for Best Country Artist at the 2026 Cleveland Music Awards, while performing both at the awards show and as the headliner for the CMA Country Music Showcase at the Wild Eagle in downtown Cleveland. Her original music blends classic country themes with a Gen Z perspective, tackling love, growing up, and chasing dreams with unfiltered authenticity. Now, with her eyes set on Nashville, Lily is making the leap from hometown favorite to national name. As she heads to Music City, she carries with her a growing catalog of original songs, a work ethic shaped by small-town roots, and a voice the country world won't soon forget.Lily Heidinger is more than just a rising star—she's the real deal, and she's just getting started.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

This project is personal as Damien's Father grew up on Ruth Avenue in Akron, Ohio and his football team was the Raiders. Every character in the book symbolizes his friends that he grew with on that team. The Raiders as a collective are of the same personality as Damien puts it the 2012 Patriots. Undefeated, great talents, maybe a lil arrogant. As Don connects with Colorado defense attorney Eric Zale, they compare notes and troubling inconsistencies emerge—Adam Mosher's claims about his experience, expertise, and courtroom testimony don't hold up under scrutiny. Investigators discover that key cases Mosher cited either never went to trial or never involved him at all, leading prosecutors in Colorado to drop charges rather than rely on his evidence. But in Akron, Cybercheck remains in use, and Mosher continues testifying under oath despite mounting doubts. Determined to stop what he believes is a dangerous and unverified system, Don launches a broader effort, reaching out to other defense attorneys and building a coalition to expose the truth—knowing the outcome could affect not just his clients, but the future of criminal justice itself.Binge all 9 episodes of this season on our YouTube page, or get them ad-free on CBC True Crime Premium on Apple Podcasts.A listener's guide to Uncover: Where to go next

She currently leads cross-functional development programs at COLTENE, where she coordinates teams across engineering, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing to bring new medical devices from concept to international launch.Amelia's journey into engineering began with a pivotal shift early in her academic career. While studying at The University of Akron, she transitioned from nursing to biomedical engineering after discovering the field through biomechanics research. Working in Dr. Brian Davis's lab, she contributed to innovative research on shear forces and biomechanics, helping analyze how human movement affects pressure and stress on the body. After graduating summa cum laude, Amelia joined Neuronoff, Inc. as its first employee. In the fast-moving startup environment, she wore nearly every hat imaginable—conducting research, developing prototypes, establishing quality systems, and contributing to core patents. She played a key role in the early development of the Injectrode neuromodulation technology while helping build the company's quality management system toward ISO 13485 compliance.Over time, Amelia gravitated toward project leadership, recognizing that even highly talented engineers need structured coordination to ensure complex products make it through development.
